Great reaction! Great video. One thing about the Metal Community, is that we are ALL brothers and sisters. You go to a show, you’ll be looked after in that way. You’re one of us, and will be taken care of. Go down the rabbit hole, it’s a blessed journey. Welcome! 🤘 #onelove
Tatiana's lyrics are always a good choice for these discussions because Tatiana is so open about her anxieties she goes through as a performer, as an introvert and as a Russian from war torn Ukraine who rose above her situation to come to where she is. In my experience she is truly the most impressive human being I have ever met. Strong, talented, smart, creative and able to go out every night on stage despite her aversion to crowds and put on a dynamic show as the center of attention. Also imperfect and not afraid to say so.
@@TheRealAb216 She is ethnically Russian from Horlivka or in Russian Gorlivka. That says nothing about her allegiance to Ukraine it's just her heritage. that is a significant detail to her story because not only has she seen the war there up close but she has endured criticism for not taking sides clearly enough in her early 20s. Ethnic Russians from the Donbas are a sensitive subject for Ukrainians. Ethnically Ukrainians are not Russians they are Cossacks. Two different Slavic races. That has nothing to do with nationality.
I was fortunate to meet Jinjer pre-show in October this year. It was an absolute honor and bucketlist item for me. I didn;t get to speak to her much(there is always that 1 guy at a meet/greet who monopoloizes the conversation) but I was able to give her a book I thought she might enjoy. They were all such gracious people, I'll never forget it.
@@petahpunk I was at the Denver show. VIP She had at least four guys asking her questions at all times. I did get to talk to her briefly and run an idea for a solo project with Alex by her. My daughter got to meet her as well. I got to talk to Eugene for quite a while and to Roman and Vlad as well. Such good real people. She said that she was nervous when she did the Spiritbox collab because she was singing someone else's song without any rehearsal. I told her like usual she did good under pressure.
This is an interesting twist on music reactions. Using them to start important conversations is a great idea. I like it. And of course it never gets old seeing people's first reaction to Jinjer.
I'm not so much into Jinjer, but this song is a masterpiece. Reminds me of older Opeth songs. For someone who listens to metal a lot, this is still a very mellow song, but if you don't listen to metal at all, this maybe a harsh start.
This is so cool... conversations about metal and mental health. I don't claim to be mentally healthy... anything but. But as someone that metal music, the heavier the better, has literally kept him alive for over 30 years, gave me a voice to scream with, gave me an outlet for the feelings that built up inside me over the course of my lifetime... It takes music that makes you want to beat someone with a sledgehammer to keep you from actually doing it, whether that person is someone else, or yourself.
Wow - Imagine being deeply into mental health and not having listened to metal! Seems inconceivable to me. Metal is one of my most effective mental health support mechanisms. Recommended.
I think it’s just because music is the effective medium, metal is just one facet of that. People tend to gravitate towards music they relate to. Maybe she just never related to the music, Y’know? I don’t think it’s so crazy, personally.
@@calebelliottguitar Sure, I wasn't questioning the lady's taste or sanity! I thought that the mental health benefits of certain types of music were well known.
Metal is a goldmine for mental health discussion. Songs sometimes allow ppl to convey a message that resonates more profoundly which is a good predecessor for this conversation.
i lost her name, but your reactor / guest, shes amazing! i do enjoy jinger lmao, tati is just so good, as well as the band.... but your guest, ma'am you took the unexpected in stride, and went with it, and had positives to say about it..... i need people like you in my life.
Jinjer is a good choice for those who want to discuss some mental issues. Because most band's lyrics is about some mental issues or somehow related to that kind of topics. Few suggestions: - Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) - the song about a seasonal affective disorder. - Wallflower (OMV) - the song about an introversity and struggles related with it. - Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev/OMV) - the song about some kind of dissociative identity disorder.
H-Town hold it down! Bigup to to my big Brother K-Rino and the whole SPC family. Also much Love to my Ukrainian and Russian family in the East... MUSIC is the KEY ❤
"Pisces swimming through the river all their life against the stream,, searching for a hook to catch on and see their sunbeam" is a heartbreaking lyric when you think about it, willing to risk everything reaching for the light
I live in Tx but nowhere near Houston , kind of wish i did, Mrs. McKinney sounds like someone I would love to talk to , Where I live the only mental health advocates that are available is MHMR and if you are not prescribed medication then you do not qualify for services , They took me off all of my meds that i had been taking my whole life ( im 53 ) in 2017 stating that they felt that they were doing me more harm than good. I have been doing ok i guess but I honestly feel as though I am losing that grip lately

_"Then suffocate in painful tortures_ _On cutting tables of callous men_ _Under a knife of handsome butchers_ _Emeralds are ripped away"_ This last part of the song was co-written by Eugene (the bass player, who's also a Pisces) and focus more on her inhability to have a stable and long lasting relationship, a theme that she also explored on "I Speak Astronomy".
For discussions about mental health, I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 for a discussion about Seasonal Affective Disorder or " Wallflower" (OMV) for a discussion about stress, shyness and introvert behaviour. Really interesting reaction concept. (Subbed)

Love this! “Pit of Consciousness” is another one I think you guys would get a lot out of, exploring the darkness that one can find themself in. 🤘🏻
I would add Perennial as it has to deal with Season Affective Disorder
Or Vortex. It's a bout the thoughts in your head getting darker and darker, until they get destructive

Disappointing i would say . I was like shocked first time i heard this hah. Love this song.
Thanks for doing Jinjer!
the reason also for the clean and harsh vocals is in the title pisces, that's the two sides of the same personality, also the two sides in the lyrics
