The reason she is able to have such deep gutterals while still having a somewhat higher speaking voice is because she doesn't use vocal fry at all. Tatiana in interviews has said she never uses vocal fry. Rather what she does is more like false cord screams which don't use your vocal cords at all. She is a very impressive vocalist, and the band is tight. Great reaction, and yes you should give Judgment and Punisment (One Take Performance) a review, and maybe Perennial (live at Wacken.)
She uses her false vocal folds to create the harsh vocals, as opposed to the vocal fry you hear sometimes when she's singing. This leaves her vocal folds free from wear and tear to continue clean singing.
good reaction thank you! False vocal folds for the WIN!!! several YT peeps have mentioned trying this themselves but no results as of yet. You should definitely check out Jinjer Perennial Live at Wacken open air 2019 as everybody and their brother has suggested.
She is not "screaming", she is "growling". She uses her false vocal chords which is why she can switch effortlessly without hurting her natural singing ability.
We played as a support act to Jinjer in January 2016 and met them backstage. Tatiana is really modest and the guys are very laid back, despite being dissatisfied about the sound. This was all before they got big but they were already unbelievably advanced at that time.
She's using a lot of different things together here for the growls. A lot of vocal fry. You can actually hear the base vocal frequencies coming through in her harsh vocals, which is great. And yeah, once you get the basic fry scream going, you can really modify your mouth shape to really affect the exact sound. Screams really heavily rely on mouth shape to change the resonance. You can hear a great example of that on her last scream where she actively modifies the resonance as the note is being sung.
So, long and short of it with screaming is it's a couple things. First is how you manipulate your larynx (I'm not an expert on the human physiology but what I'm attempting to refer to is that location between your jaw and neck. When you move it up or down your adam's apple moves up and down), for example if you lower it and make an "OH" sound it'll remind you of a low opera singer for example, if you move it very high you'll get a higher "tense sound", if you've watched Lilo & Stitch, it sounds like Stitch (this usually helps people in identifying the sound, think when he says "Hiieee"). The second part is the mouth shape and tongue position, the sound can greatly change depending on this. Depending on the style of screaming, your range can make an impact but isn't the end all be all. Lowering your adam's apple and properly positioning your mouth and tongue can greatly lower the sound of the scream, even for female vocalists. Tatiana is an incredible vocalist but she isn't the only female vocalist capable of such feats, actually it's fairly common, it's just a genre that not many tend to explore enough. (In my late teens and early to mid-20s I was a screamer, have done both Inhale and False Chord Exhale for many years, I think roughly around 7, it's been a while but you never forget how it's done.) ~ I hope some of this can be informative! EDIT: Almost forgot! Diaphragm usage! Her shoulders stay lowered when she screams because she's not breathing with her chest. Long and short of it is that you breathe in and flex your stomach, however I gauge this is far more intense than regular singing, you should never see a screamer raise their shoulders or look like they are "huffing and puffing". She's basically pushing just the right amount of air for each of the screams, you'll notice her breathing in rapidly and heavily but her shoulders stay down. Primarily the reason why people are taught not breathe with their chest is due to being winded and not being able to push out enough air.
One thing I think the singer reactions miss is how intense and tight the band is. Jinjer has done live playthru’s with all the members, so you can focus on each, so you can see how it all comes together. There is a different vocal style for every situation. The rapper ODB was well known to “always be practicing’”, and it shows. You never doubted it was ODB… Punk singers are a whole style itself…
I really think this song is instrument live, but the voice is the same from the album, indeed is layered. But there are live performances from them also! it's her real voice, using false cords technique!

It was genuinely fun watching your reaction and I'm glad to see you so open to metal.
There are other metal bands I've covered before in this channel and this won't be the last :)
She can switch it up , like flipping a light switch. She's one of the best ever...👍
You've probably already learned that she is using her false folds. Her singing revolutionized my growling on the sax.
Oh jeez this will be the best Jinjer react yet!!!
Rocking the wife beater..oh you have no idea whats coming.
Oh "she sounds healthy" 😳😳😳
I LOVE JINJER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTION.
Pedro Pascual Losa💜🎶🎶💜
@@SongsFromASuitcase thank you!!!!!
I love how they all think it's gonna be tame and then she hits the brutal growls and the reaction is priceless😂
Tyler Dees💗💗Love love this! 💗💗
@@SongsFromASuitcase 😁😁😁😎
good reaction thank you! False vocal folds for the WIN!!! several YT peeps have mentioned trying this themselves but no results as of yet. You should definitely check out Jinjer Perennial Live at Wacken open air 2019 as everybody and their brother has suggested.
"I like it, I think it's really kicked back. . ."
Oh, oh boy.
My favorite part of this song is her clean / growl difference is symbolism of her being a Pisces
This is now a few years ago. She can now go deeper. If interested, try Home Back. Just debuted the video.
that's 100% her. You should check out the one-take recording of 'Judgment & Punishment' by Jinjer
She is not "screaming", she is "growling". She uses her false vocal chords which is why she can switch effortlessly without hurting her natural singing ability.
Appreciate you having fun and an open mind with it. Also you are gorgeous.
Loved the timing on taking a drink.
1st one to not comment on her seitch from Growl to Belt tho. Too busy self-promoting ig, lol.
3 years later and people still reacting to Jinjer and it never gets old
Listen to "Teacher, Teacher" to hear her switch from that vocal fry to singing in a second. Even better is "Perennial" at Wacken live performance.
Perennial Live at Wacken. Mind Blowing.
I think this is my new favorite reaction of yours, and of this song.
Is that really her?!? I couldn't believe it my first listen either... I had to watch some concert footage to convince myself.... she's amazing...
Bow down to the Queen Tatiana... worship her existence, her sound, her love
Unleash the archers “tonight we ride”. Give it a listen
We played as a support act to Jinjer in January 2016 and met them backstage. Tatiana is really modest and the guys are very laid back, despite being dissatisfied about the sound. This was all before they got big but they were already unbelievably advanced at that time.
These never get old with Jinger! 🤣🤣🤣
Pyrfight Images✨🥰🥰✨
Jinjer reactions never fail to disappoint.
This never gets old, this lady looked genuinely mad that she didn't understand how Tatiana was doing her scream.
That place they pause at. Every. Single. Time.
I really think this song is instrument live, but the voice is the same from the album, indeed is layered. But there are live performances from them also! it's her real voice, using false cords technique!
