Hey man. I’m 35. Stuttering has changed my life for the worse. I quit my dream job as a CPA because I found out that I had to give a presentation. I isolate myself. I’m forced to act like I enjoy being alone. But the fact is I’m too embarrassed to talk. Some days I talk fine, other days it’s really hard. I’ve been depressed and even suicidal at times. Just wanted to drop you a comment that you’re not alone.

Either are you, my friend, either are you. Im 50. Have had a pretty severe stutter my whole life. Past year it seems to have gotten noticeably worse for some reason. I don't know. Maybe it's true...God only gives the hardest jobs to the strongest Angeles. I beleive it does almost force you to develop a stoic type attitude about things, knowing your gonna feel embarassed but going on anyway. And I think thats a unique reality for people who struggle with stuttering. Carry on Brother✌️

I'm still young, 19, and I feel like killing myself. I haven't been able to speak normally since I was a small kid, being bullied and being out of touch because of my stuttering. It has changed my life forever, and the worst thing is that there is no cure for us stuttering people. I've been acting like it's all okay and I can live with it, but I can't. It's an endless depression. Sometimes I talk normally, but there are days I can't even say my name properly to anybody. In my entire life, I received zero support, but only bullying or jokes about how I talk, but it's great to see that there are many stuttering people like us. We're not alone in this mess, and there is still a small hope... Your video made me cry, because I know the pain, stay strong...

I tried to help her build her self esteem and it has helped but not as much as I wish. She still gets ridiculed as an adult and has gone on job interviews and it seems to be going good until she stutters then like 9 times out of 10 she never gets a call back. Yo man, I get you 100%, I've had a stutter for all that I can remember, all through school, all through my jobs I've had, my stutter is not as bad as yours but it's still definitely there, my whole childhood was spent basically not talking because I was simply just afraid to, I've learned some coping mechanisms for my stutter which has helped me greatly, but you would know, it is still there, personally, I feel that it has played a part in my developing of depression, which itself I've been through so many treatments for but the more treatments I go through, the more I think that the depression isn't going to go anywhere, because I can't talk normally, I feel you bro, hang in there, I don't like telling people that things get better when you and I both know that this thing isn't going anywhere, but I can say to just try to hang in there. I did HCRI ( great school) but it didn’t really help, I also tried 2 different speech devices. Still it gets better for a little bit then goes back to being bad. It’s so weird. I wish I knew why.

I just wanted to say this. Some people may not care, some people might. Some might say I'm spouting nonsense. But I just wanna say it regardless. As a semi-religious person. I just wanna say (this may sound weird too, forgive me for my poor English) but I really love you guys. Especially you people with disabilities. Why you ask? Well that's because all my life I have been taught that since you guys are disabled, you automatically have a special power that normal people don't have, which is that you can make a person better. That and also that your prayers are stronger than ours. I say you guys make us better because you guys are so much more kind, forgiving, humble, selfless than so many normal people in this world. You would be surprised how so many normal people are monsters now and how regardless of your state, you people are truly like angels. Sometimes I might even feel jealous of you guys as you often see life throughout pink glasses; some of you are unaware of the dark sides of our world, you don’t care about media news, don’t talk about politicians, corruptions, injustice and many other issues that most people of the 21th century busy their mind with on a daily basis. Not only that. You guys teach us to be better. Even with this stuttering, I Learned to be more patient when you speak and to be caring towards you people. This way, I literally became a better person just by you guys, how awesome is that. I know you guys might feel disturbed by your disability, but trust me. It's the world that's ugly, not you guys. If everyone was as good as our religion wanted us to be, trust me you guys would have never felt sad about your disability. Either way another good thing is you guys are 100% going to heaven which is pretty much the best thing ever. So stay happy guys. You guys teach us to be better🤗.

stuttering is a burden. But with everything in life there is polarity and therefore stuttering must have some positives, even though I havent found any yet. I dropped out of uni last year. I started again this year but I am thinking of dropping out again, because I have no friends whatsoever, cant speak, underlying trauma, scared of presentations, go all day without saying a single sentence. I am numbed down to emotions now. I dont cry or get upset anymore. I am a robot, numbed down all the emotions. What is saving me is my healthy diet, without that I would be in a SEVERE dark place

Hey Lance! I get where you’re coming from, and life does suck sometimes, and it isn’t fair. But if you flip those negative thoughts around, and start thinking about what you can do and what you have instead, it might help. Personally I think you are a good communicator, because you have a great presence and a way about you that makes people listen. There are so many things that make people good or bad communicators, and fluency has very little to do with it. I get that you yourself get frustrated and feel embarrassed at times, but you should never ever apologize for stuttering. Like you said, you can’t help it and there is nothing you can do. Your questions and opinions have just as much value if it takes a minute to ask/say, as the people who spend 10 seconds asking.
Often times stuttering gets better with acceptance. You’ll probably never be completely fluent, but if you stop chasing that pipe-dream and start owning your stutter, it might get better. Love your videos! Best of luck to you. 😄

Stuttering has ruined my life. I can only imagine how better my life would be if i was able to speak normally. I have been isolating myself for like 10 years now since i prefer that over not being able to assert myself and earn people’s respect. Its been hard, lots of mental health issues, and no one seems to understand my situation.
I have rejected multiple women that were interested in me because its just too stressful for me.
I have cut off relations with my friends because going out with them would only make me feel alone and depressed because i cant express myself fluently and in a “cool” way like they do.
I also remember when i was still in school, one time i was reading and my stutter was so bad that i started crying and left the classroom broken.
Sometimes i wonder what i did to deserve this.
Life has been hard, its just unfair..

I have a security job I’m way over qualified for and it’s a shit job but I do it at night so I don’t gotta talk to anyone. Also when me and my gf go out to eat she always orders for me so I don’t mess it up. I also don’t answer any phone calls unless I really really have too and I’ll go to another room so no one will hear how bad I speak since it’s way worse over the phone. I’m sorry you deal with it, I know how bad it sucks. I truly do.

There are researchers working on all different ailments but no one is working on treatments for this condition. I know my stutter is not physical, its mental and is anxiety based. I wont stutter a word when im talking outloud to myself or if i sing a song or especially when Im angry and need to get my point across. I only hope that medical science starts to treat this condition because it is truly crippling.

I am 71 years old, and have stuttered since early childhood. Based on my own experience and a very large amount of reading about stuttering over the years, I would say the following.
In many instances, children who begin stuttering in early childhood (age 4), for reasons not fully understood by experts in this field, will permanently cease stuttering WITHOUT speech therapy. In my opinion, it depends in part on the parenting abilities of the parents, the degree to which they have educated themselves about raising children who stutter, overall conditions within the home, bullying at school, and the severity of the biological basis of the child’s stuttering. If your child’s stuttering does not improve AND IF it becomes a problem, I recommend speech therapy. If the child seems to “be ok” with his stuttering, it is probably best to not obtain speech therapy, just try to be a good parent. If you do decide to obtain speech therapy, try VERY strongly to find a speech therapist who has been trained how to treat stuttering, and few of them have.
A better option is an approach that does not treat the stuttering, but the child who stutters. This is sometimes call the “holistic” approach.
The “holistic” approach may also be helpful as a young adult.
If a person has stuttered since early childhood and still does by his early 20’s, the continued stuttering and related stressful experiences may have caused mental health disorders. No type of therapy will be effective until those disorders have been adequately addressed. The disorders may be depression, PTSD, generalized anxiety, or some type of personality disorder regarding having normal relationships with other people. If so, he needs help from a psychologist or even a psychiatrist. In either case, try to find one who has patients who stutter.
    I "have been there".

I have not been diagnosed with any medical conditions, but I still feel that way sometimes (with my dad). I get jealous when my friend said that both his parents love him and take care of him (My parents divorced, his did not, by the way). My mom is like that, my dad is not. He will yell and punish me for things like forgetting to turn of the lights of a room I'm not using or not closing a drawer. He rarely ever cleans and does laundry so for a long time I'd wear dirty clothes for weeks and try to avoid cockroaches and have black feet from dust. He always gaslights and calls us names and shames me and my bro. I just think my life will be better if I just had a better dad. I feel sad, empty, depressed, crazy, and ashamed all the time. I constantly think that I'm stupid and ugly and a failure and many other similar things. I even have suicidal thoughts and scars from cutting. I have hid my feelings from him for so long in fear of being ridiculed that I do it all the time. Even from friends and family. I just say I'm fine. He also gets very angry very easily, so I am afraid that one day he'll get so angry he'll beat me up (he hasn't yet). So I can definitely relate (in my own way).

i stutter too. i made 3 videos on it but my videos were a little bit more joke. i pretty much was just laughing at having my stutter all together. i did that to kinda bring a little light to stutter instead of the usual sad stories. thanks for sharing. this video wasn't really depressing but kinda just telling a story or the truth. i liked it. i stutter more when i express any high emotion. negative or positive. i have lots of trigger words and sounds. which i went over on my channel. and boy is there a lot of them. but whatev's. before i go. one good thing about my stutter was i used it to get out of public speaking sometimes in school and got the teacher to feel bad for me. lol. anyways. stuttering isn't the worst thing but it still sucks, but it's still not the worst. BTW, i did work at a call center (i know my stutter isn't the worst but it is noticeable at times) and i stuttered on 100% of the calls. i just tried extra hard to not stutter in the interview and 99.9% of the time i don't, but once i already got the job they cannot just fire me because of disabilities act and it makes them look like an asshole and i was also one of the best sellers too so there's that. but i am lucky my stutter isn't one of the worst. but you can try singing out one of your horrible stutters. i barely do it myself because i can't sing and it's embarrassing but it does work 100% of the time. sing out your stutter on the bad words.
