I have a feeling that Charmy & Shadow as Zombots know the location of the HQ, and that they are responsible for what happened. Most likely Espio & Vector did for finding Charmy, or Cream pulled a Oopsie.

Talk about true Intense! I'm also glad Zavok feels actually useful for once unlike his games counterpart where they literally just place them there whenver there's no new original boss or bother with the older bosses unlike Forces did and other spin-offs.

I'm suspicious that the zombot virus is becoming sentient because there's no way those chao just happened to destroy the right thing
I'm suspicious of that too. That power outage was a little too convenient for the Zombots.
Since the metal virus is randomizing its coding, the zombots can't be controlled by Eggman but get more smart in finding effective ways to spread the infection.
I actually felt bad for Tails, he was so close to have a breakthrough on the Metal Virus and its possible vaccine, only to be shattered right in front of him by Zombots. The expressions of sadness and frustration are so well made here. At this point, he can't lose hope here, his brilliant mind can remember some intel gathered by Sonic and recover something from that breakthrough. And Tangle I'm sorry, but you'll need to wait for the world to be safe before riding the Cyclone.
I wonder which characters survive and fall in the Restoration HQ attack. We only see Amy, but please we can't see Cream being a victim.
This encounter of Starline and the Zeti can be a strategy of control of the Zombots. Perhaps this can happen:
- When Starline encounters Zavok once again, he presents the "weapon" to the Zeti, aka the Zombot. After explaining what it does, he gives them a sample to prove the theory that the Zeti powers can actually control this menace. One of 2 things can happen: either the test is a great success and Starline provides something to extend their powers throughout the planet, or the Zombots are immune to this and Lost Hex becomes the newest spot for the virus.
If the Zeti are back, I really want some new members of the race introduce here.
On a side note: did you notice in the final page, behind Amy, 2 civilians, one is a ladybug and the other is somewhat a cat? I think someone from IDW loves the Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir show (I, myself, love the show)
With the Zeti in the game, things are about to get darker!

Nice job putting this video together, Matt.
Wow, Ian Flynn and the folks at IDW are doing a great job making IDW Sonic feel like a cartoon and video game at the same. Heck, would it be cool if Sonic and friends had to deal with another alien invasion at some point in the future assuming IDW gets more cool ideas and continues onward.
Let's hope things get better in Year 3.

Tails’ workshop is from Sonic Battle, so the concept of his workshop looking like his head comes from there.
I have a theory on how this thing will go:
The black arms arrived on earth to find it infected and they see the faceship of Eggman and they stabilate a contact. Starline responds and freak out but then the new hive mind of the black arms: blackstar the hedgehog and ask him what happened on Earth, starline responds that eggman created a new process of robotization called metal virus and its out of control.
Blackstar struck a deal with starline that they will clean earth of the zombots and the metal virus itself but they want half of Eggman's bases for themselfs. Starline agrees
This has to be one of the most dammaging of Eggmans plots, Shadow has fallen and became a Zombot,Sonic is infected with only having to be slowed down to become a zombot,organic life is quickly being killed,despair can be felt on the characters,and hope is fading with each issue. This is getting do dire that Sonic even for a moment thought he should of just let Shadow kill eggman when he was Mr.Tinker.
When this is all over o wonder if in the comics we see more of sonic thinking on just finishing off Eggman

Things are definitely getting dire.

Well when it comes to the Flickies (from Tails house scene) we are missing one? because there were five different colored birds in Sonic 3D Blast.

While I was reading this issue, I feared that tails might end up being infected, so determined to finish the cure analysis that he sacrifices his life for it
Now that I thinking about it, I actually genuinely want to see what happened if the story took that direction.
And this issue is an Unofficial Miraculous crossover at the end of page since two Mobians look familiar

Hopefully they’ll start coming out soon because they keep getting numerous delays. Tangle and Whisper #3 is coming out after a whole month of its initial date. Also I think how Tangle and Whisper are their will most likely be explained in the last issue of their mini series.

Since we're back on the topic about the Zeti, I meant to add on what you said about how they are still alive in your "General Thoughts" section from your issue 20 review:
Indeed Sonic Lost World did hint that the Zeti were still alive after defeating Eggman. . .which was further, or should I say completely confirmed, in the Zazz Raid Event from the now defunct mobile game, Sonic Runners, which is the game that also explains why the Wisps are still around (God I miss that game. . .well at least the Sonic Runners Revial project is a thing). Which make me wonder if the comic will reference Runners? THAT would be amazing to see!

Why doesn't eggman use his robots alongside the Zombots?, also is it me or the Zombots actually show some different expression compare to before.

As other comments have noted, that's Tails' house from Sonic Battle. As for why it looks like him, who knows? Maybe it's easier to find this way? Although oddly enough, his house is supposed to be in a place called Emerald Town, not Central City like the comic says. In the game, Central City is right next to it on the world map, but that just makes it more confusing since that city is supposedly in the human world according to Shadow's game, and I assumed this comic was only set in Sonic's world, considering we haven't seen a single human besides Eggman.
I guessing Emerald Town is part of Centrial City is what they're going for here.
I'm pretty sure the two worlds concept will be further explored and soon.
My theory is that it so happens to be two cities named Central City; one for Sonic's world and one from the human world. Same with Pyramid Cave from Sonic Adventure 2.
@@johnr.deluca4258 Not even Battles Central City is set in the Human world we know this as a fact because the President gives rouge access to the government mainframe in Central City and said mainframe has data on Gerald Robotnik and the Space Colony arc and all data concerning it were linked to the Humans.
Also the Pyramid cave in SA 2 has giant Echidna statues in Eggman and Tails levels and the hieroglyphs inside of Death Chamber also depict anthros
So lets be real here the 2 worlds thing is fundamentally brocken and so far causes even problems with the comics continuity.

Like I said, the two worlds concept will inevitabley be further explained and explored more soon enough. They have to at this point.
Plus, in terms for the IDW book, this is Ian Flynn we're taking about here. Pretty sure he has this all mapped out and figured out.

The Problems goes all the way back to Iizukas interview in 08 that started this 2 worlds nonsense.
Because to put it as blandly as I can Sonic Adventure 2 was giving a limited Anniversary release called the Birthday pack in Japan back when it was new.
And this Birthday pack included a official Sonic Timeline which states that Sonic is from EARTH.
So in the Yuji Naka era was Sonic native to earth and there was only one planet were all games happened on (little planet not withstanding but at least that games opening clearly showed sonic traveling to the other planet)
and because during this era all things happened on one world were many elements introduced that showed this like Angle Island on earth or the with Echidna statues filled Pyramids in SA2 or Greenhill like landscape in from of Emerald town right next to the United Federations capital in Battle.
But than out of literally nowhere did Takashi Iizuka decided that all games events happened over 2 different world which how ever because of the one world model under Naka just could not work leaving the series continuity in peaces ever since.
And Ian at ones even proclaimed that this split of 2 worlds has always been the case since adventure even through Adventures Birthday pack is literal prove that this is just not the truth at all.
And if this means that Ian now actually jumped on this lie-train and in this comic messed up so many games locations which by all accounts should be on the "Human world" in the comic so far have I no trust that he can fix the unfix-able mistake that Iizuka made 11 years ago.
More over is Ian technically bound to what Sonic Team says and Iizuka has so far done no attempts in further explaining it he has actually rather played so fast and loose with continuity that Canon is by now flat-out brocken just like at the Team Sonic Racing roster (Silver and Blaze being here in particular but also Zavok's entire character in that game) or at the mess that is Forces in which Green hill want from the coast of South Island as it has always been to the size of Asia or the also completely unexplained retcon of Classic Sonic with is presented as if it was always the case with is the same way he used the 2 worlds split so the chances that he will ever explain it are pretty much ZERO unless someone takes him apart on a Q&A segment (but given the quality of most questions in these cough How would Sonic meet the Joker in a DC crossover. cough does this not really increase the chances by much)

@@Gemma-Bricks Well if you know anything about his past as a writer should this be less surprising he sure loves his shock-moments (seriously in his own fan-fic does he constantly kill characters of just for a cheap shock moment) I am actually kinda glad in some regards that he is so restricted when writing for the comic otherwise would we have permer dead characters left and right by now.
I gotta be honest I confess something: as much as I enjoy Ian Flynn's writing in general, I gotta admit that this arc is kinda boring, Soulless and the fact the it's dragging itself on purpose until... God knows how many months into 2020, it worries me about the feature of the comics. I don't wanna lose another Sonic comic again.
On other hand, Tangle & Whisper are honestly the highlight of the month for me. It's amazing how much difference between a comic where the writer and the artist are so in sync with one can created a entertaining product, while still making us care about their characters and new settings.
I wish more comics like the T&W miniseries were made by IDW, heck, I wish the Sonic characters were less restricted and more emotional like Tangle and Whisper.
The Absolute Trashman I wouldn’t say the official characters are that restricted. I mean Tails was clearly upset that he lost the data, Amy was grieving the loss of HQ and you can see it in Sonic that he’s getting tired and is aware of how bad the situation is. But I do get how you mean that characters made for this universe aren’t as restricted at all compared to the official one.
Ian is like oda always adding too many plot points and padding to an arc then has to resolve them all leading to it being dragged out, the shattered world arc in archie was two yrs long and went on for 29 issues and dont get me started on the iron dominion arc.
Maybe but sales wise Sonic is still IDW biggest seller, so the biggest problem might be the continued existence of IDW itself going forward since they have so many financial issues right now.
On tangle and whisper, yes! Since they're not sega game characters they're allowed to be interesting and multifaceted & don't have to deal with the more ridiculous mandates

I'm scared on what is happening to cream and her mom I care of the others but THE CINNAMON ROLLS.they don't show up much often and remember that cream is a very young girl who fought in dangeres eggman battles and stayes alive and kid who see the change of her best friends sacrifice their lives to save her and her moms she see everything too see is the one who worry the most not just her family and friends but the world and how its going to end up as if this keeps up.she's just a kid in this great war and look at what she has to go thought every.single.day.does anyone see her on the ship cause she was with Amy back at that place
I am almost sure that Cream cameo earlier only to not show up at the end was there because she is in fact a Zombot by the next issue because Ian loves his shock-value
And given the quality of this story so far would I assume that she is going out on a Wimper rather than a band and the only thing her transformation will cause is that Amy is sad seeing Cream who was properly transformed by her mother with her just cowering in a corner as Vanilla slowly comes closer.
Why Do I thing this well for one this is about as much as Charmy has gotten and Ian's history of writing for her isn't the best.

I gotta be honest here the arc isn't getting any better.
I mean the level of contrivances is just so high I am surprised how many just overlook it really.
I mean first of all what are Cheese and Choccola even doing here at the start of each issue for a while did we get a hand drawn map from Cream as a quick way to recapture what has happened and Tails current position at central city is over 3 cities far way from the place were the Chao were transformed so other than to pull on the heartstrings why are there here so far away at a City that is much closer to Sunset City so really why did there go here rather than the zombots from Sunset city?
But this is just the tip of the Iceberg because the way there destroy Tails progression is just ridicules why did there attack the electricity of Tails lab not only were there unaware what he was even doing but up to this point did no Zombot thing so smart as to attack the electricity lines so there should have gone straight for Tails as all Zombots are suppose to do.
And Things aren't getting better with the way the physical driver was lost which is apparently so fragil that Dreamcast CD looks like Adamantium by comparison. Do I really have to explain why such massiv contrivances pull me out of the story?
And even that's not all because the fact that Eggman just so happens to show up the moment Tails and Co arrived makes this so much worse because not only is it a massiv contrivance that he shows up exactly now when our heroes get there just to make things harder on them but also because it means that if our Characters would have done the Smart thing from the very start something no one was considering before there lost the Ultimate liveform and the ultimate E-Series Robot no less would there have to face pretty much no opposition and had a fully working mass produced cure by now and ended this nightmare of a story, And the fact that its our heroes incompetence that makes all of this so dire and hard is not even ones addressed wonderful.
Seriously how am I suppose to take such artificial drama seriously when its obvious that nothing really matters because the writer just established that he can destroy any victory of out heroes by pulling something out of his ass.
But these are just the biggest issues there are also other massiv issues that the fact that the way Sonic's body fights against the Virus still isn't addressed at all despite being pretty important given that the Virus after all as we earlier with Rough and Tumble saw completely transforms there bodies into more of it self leaving this very important peace of story as just a case of "Because The Author Says So" which makes the artificiality of this story even more obvious.
Other smaller quarrels I have would be that Tails even got out on his own to get a sample despite the wide array of Robot Drones at his disposal from Mech Tails from Tails adventure over the dozens of Omo-Chao's all the way to Lost worlds RC vehicles (which than also lead to the Zombot Chao's behaving far smarter than there should)(as well that Tails first now things its a good Idea to get a sample rather than as soon as shit hits the fan if needed could even Sonic got a sample with little problems thanks to his bodies ability to run it off.)
Or that Tails deiced to use his plains care mode rather than going into X mode and let fire rain from above to create a path for the Survives without losing his very useful weapon and transport vehicle during a time were resources are scares but I guess by this point should I expect that our Heroes are always going to do the dumb thing even if there have canonically an IQ of 300.
And I could easily go one and mention this like that given how problematic Eggman just suddenly appearing is that by now there should have attacked him, rip the data of the virus out of his computer using his face ships capacities to mass produce a cure and you know KILL EGGMAN no seriously by this point is Eggman as much of a problem as Erazor was in Secret Rings and Black Doom was in Shadow and in both cases did Sonic know no mercy for them so Eggman by all accounts should he be toast if our characters still refuse to kill him after all of this than is this not only incontinence with there characters (well maybe except for a few like Cream is guess) but are also flat-out brain-dead.
And this doesn't even go into other general writing issues like the continued massiv use of near pointless and yet multibel pages long fight scenes in every issue that distract from the actual plot for the most part and feels like filler, the massiv over use of Shock-value moments no matter if it makes sense or not (see Charmy becoming a Zombot despite that he is not that dumb, showed far more competence in Shadow the hedgehog and was graped by his shoes which against what was originally established are also assimilated just so that he can't just slip out of them and escape but rather can be forcefully dragged down despite the fact that he can easily lift Vector and Espio at the same time) the afoul pacing in which all most all issues are the same (the very fact that we have Tails as main character makes it a bit less of an issue but Tangle and Wisper really fill in here for what Sonic was doing consistently for the last 10 or so issues) and that we have hardly any smooth transitions between issues no we just start at the Crisis herd and just straight into the action because really how needs slower passed character focused moments before arriving at the big action scene.
And this formula is near unchanged since the start of the series only with even more clickbaity shock-value endings that before thanks to a crisis that only exist thanks to out heroes being a bunch of morons which reactionary actions dig them self and deeper and deeper grave. Even Knuckles in forces was a better leader than Amy is here because he at least tried to take an opening when its appears, put harming Eggman over the immediat safety of civilian because he understood that if he was only on the defenses could he never win and so just slowly lose more and more land and people to his enemies, Meanwhile here is Amy and the entire remaining cast by extension so concern with saving civilians that the larger problem (Eggman and the constant spreading) which if not stopped will win eventually are completely overlooked .
Sorry for the long rant but I just had to let out my disappointment at this series so far.

Given that you seam to be rather positive towards the series and this issue it self would I like to know why you seemingly have no problems overlooking all the issues I have with it?
It could be that the zombots are just roaming around without a clear objective because of the mutation of the virus
The zombots could be getting smarter due to mutations as well (and they could explain it later it doesn't necessarily need to be stated that they're getting smarter as soon as they do something intelligent)
The driver did break a little easily but things drop and break all the time

Villains show up and do things around the same time as the heroes in a lot of media it's just a thing that happens I guess also it could be a target because of the amount of people living there and because tails lives there specifically. He has a reason to be there
Sonic didn't kill black doom that was shadow and shadow was going to kill eggman in the tinker arc. Erazor wasn't killed just put back into his lamp and in the sams line of thought it can be argued that any hero is incompetent for not killing villains its just not a thing heroes do most of the time despite having to fix their messes (also a story kinda needs a villain)
Shadow beings infected was kinda dumb but for charmy we don't exactly know how the virus spreads it could be that if something is connected to a victim that doesn't exactly have a lot of space between the victim and the zombot the virus will travel up that object or that zombots have more strength than your average person and that allowed them to pull charmy down.
Also I agree attacking would be the better solution but also I don't think it's that out there that Amy hasn't called an attack on eggman in order to deal with the chaos he's spreading because of the difference between her and knuckles priorities also eggmans position constant movement and the defenses he probably has could make him hard enough to attack to make saving civilians a higher priority anyway. Also the only thing we know about knuckles leadership is that he attacked after everything was gone. There was practically no land to lose and at this point he had no choice but to realize that offense was the only answer. It can be argued that Amy hasn't been pushed to this point yet (possibly because there was hope for a cure with tails which holding off for that is actually a bad decision since even the creator of the virus doesn't have a cure and stopping the spread as soon as possible would be a huge help) and that might change with the loss of the resistance hq
Gotta agree about this arc being drawn out and how the structure hasn't changed since the beginning of the series though and I hope problems like those get snuffed out later on.

I want to excuse my self in advance for perhaps sounding a bit mean but I sincerely don't want to sound mean or anything of the like this is only my honest response to your points.
See there is a problem with just using the Mutation argument here well more than one actually.
Namely that for one that the Mutation would just than occur exactly when it would inconvenient our characters is rather contrived.
And Second that Tails in this issue says that the Metal Virus works exactly like a Virus in which case Cheese and Choccola would have stayed in there violent attack everyone state from when there were first transformed because Mutation occurs by reproduction but because Virus don't have a own metabolism but rather reproduce by infecting living cells that force them to make more viruses should the Zombot mutation exclusively happen during the infection it self and stay the same after it (so for example the first Zombots should still obey Eggman because there Virus bots that make up there bodies couldn't have further reproduced and so should have stayed the same) So ether Cheese and Choocola should have stayed dumb and violente infection machines or Tails was talking out of his ass when he was talking about the Virus which is than another writing mistake on it's self.
But beside this does this still not excuse that there are here at base minimum 3 c cities far away while we know that even in this issue there still try to infect others (there going after tails when he brings out the Tornado(which is yet another problem with them attacking then but not when there spot tails taking the sample for no reason)) and so should have headed into the different direction because the one we are here is the one Eggman Original attacks (Central City according to the map is close by to Windmill village and sunset City which were Eggman's first targets) and so had already lots of Zombots giving the Zomot Chao's no investment to go into that direction.
See yes it can happen BUT for one that it even happened at all if rather contrived ones more just to artiffically make this story longer and have the cheap shock of taking our heroes just everything away to make things look worse for them even through the only reason its looks to bad is because of really contrived writing.
And speaking about the Logic here this is the world of Sonic the hedgehog were we have hard-drives that survived massiv explosions (Metal Sonic in Cd and Rivals 1) I-pad's that take a fall like nothing (Tails pad he uses ever since Unleashed) And Tails in particular even ones had access to one that Gerald Robotnik with all his might couldn't even make a dent in (Emerl's in Battle and by extension Gemerls at the end of Advance 3) so the Idea that we have to many really tough and sturdy Hard-Drives in this world but Tails personal one for his big Pc is as fragile as antic Vase (seriously just look at how badly it brock from such a small fall) just really silly (One thing that goes into the same direction I didn't even think about in my first comment is that Tails Lab also has no backup-generator and is completely relayed of the Public Power grid(we know because this is how the Zombie-Robot Chao's turn his PC of) is just as st... no wait scratch that far more stupid )
Well so far did Eggman took mostly targets that bring Sonic to him so its really just a plot contrivance that he attacks just than when Tails needs to go there (because there is no way Eggman did know that Tails was heading there not even Starling could have given that info to him because he was busy dealing (rather poorly) with the Zeti) and furthermore even if not does it still highlight how dumb our characters actually were to not do the research on Sonic before or better as soon as the Attack on Sunset City happened. Before could you have argued that preventing thing from happening in the first place would be more important than just saving the 2 skunks for the moment (which however is an attitude that clashes with there over-focusing on rescuing civilians rather than stopping Eggman to spread it further) but at bare minimum after the attack on Sunset City should finding a cure become priority one (especially Vector and Espio should have demanded this as focus for Charmy's sack(same goes for Cream as well as everyone that lost a family member)) so them not doing anything until now where there have now to deal with a Zombot invasion that wouldn't have been there before and allowed them to save the world already do to the lack of an opposition during research just highlights how dumb are characters behaving for this entire arc which however isn't acknowledged at all by anyone in-universe.
Sure Sonic doesn't kill Black Doom but the in-game dialog make it pretty clear that this is Sonic's goal here (beside this does he also show no hesitation in killing the very much alive Black Arms)
The only reason Sonic didn't kill Erazor is because he is immortal so he can't die so Sonic did something even worse to him by sealing him away for all eternity in his lamp.
But if you really need a head rolling just look at Sonic and the Black knight Sonic literally beheads King Arthur while he was still thinking that he was just a normal man that got insane through his immortality and he was visually surprised to see that the King wasn't a real person but another knight of the Underworld.
The Problem here is that Eggman never has a villain before that cased this kind of damage because he wanted to rule the world not destroy it (examples here would be him joining the Fight against Black Doom, him not wanting to end of live in Lost worlds, him helping to stop everyone the crashing of the space colony arc, helping Shadow in both Rivals game to stop Eggman Nega from killing everyone, joining with the good guys against Metal Overlord , Perfect Chaos, Ultigermel and the Zeti) almost all the time when all live on the world is at stack its ether not him (Gerald, Black Doom, Erazor or Negaas examples) or he causes it by accident and never mend it to happen (Emerl and Dark Gaia as examples)
But now with the Metal Virus did he attempt to end all live on the planet and part of his plan is to go further to do this to other universe as well and this is the moment were Eggman jumps from Serious threat that can be contained to psycho-maniac that has to be stopped permanently alla Erazor (I would say technically is even Forces already make Eggman almost to ruthless but at least could be argued that given that non-existing rules of the Phantom Ruby this was exclusively target at his enemies and would have leaved all other live on scared)
I know a story needs a villain but this is just so Evil that there is just noway that the Darker Characters (and with Dark in this case would I even include Knuckles) wouldn't go for the Kill by now and even Sonic really would if his previous experience with world changing evil is any indication.
Dude we literally saw the metal creep up his shoe lets be real here the originally established no possessed material rule is use only in the way it suits the plot.
Also a downward pulling strength is pretty meaningless when he should have enough power to drag them all into the air (I may remind you that the Zombots are made up of the same materials at there original non metal counterparts were and so would there weight not increase at all and we know Charmy is strong enough to lift one of the heaviest Sonic Characters namely Vector with little to no problems)
I can only really go on about Knuckles leadership based on what we see in forces so I kinda assumed he did act pretty much the same throughout the war.
See why is Sonic than not attacking Eggman him self?

Or really anyone that isn't directly a member of Amy's little restoration organization?
Heck why isn't knuckles in this story so far you would assume as a flying island with an infinite power source (that can also shut down Eggman's face-ships power source) would make an good to defend base of operation especially when dealing with a Zombie Apocalypse.
Anyway the fact that no ones even suggest an all out attack at Eggman to force him to stop further virus production and perhaps even obtaining the Virus original blueprints and so easier create a anti-Virus is already and issue on its own because it suggest that ether all of them are as short sized as Amy or all just mindlessly fallow Amy's commands nether of which reflecting all that well on our Main cast.
I don't have all that much hope at this point the writing just seams to keep getting worse and with more and more holes and contrivances as it goes on.
I hope you can see were I'm coming from with my critics on the story of this issue (as well as the Arc as a whole even through as a whole does the Arc have even more issues like the constantly shifting strength level of the Zombots)
