Let me preface this by saying that that Belle's journey was perhaps one of the sadder elements of this arc. She basically had to confront the truth everything she knew about Eggman was a lie.
As for the issue itself, it is another good old fashioned good vs evil story. The usual Sonic vs. Eggman.
Or to be more specific: Team sonic vs the elemental vipers. Not exactly a big world-changing story.
As for Belle's arc....I agree. In what is ultimately a case of Facing the Music, Belle got the answers she was looking for, but they most certainly were not what she wanted to hear.
What really drives this point home is when Belle talks to him. At that moment, Eggman, in the middle of a sadistic high, lays it into her that the old Mr. Tinker she knew was a cruel illusion, induced by the trace elements of a Phantom Ruby.
What rubs salt on the wound is that Eggman admits that his ego is larger than Jupiter by this point, and has grown tired of being a "toymaker". He explains that he is doing all of this because he wants control and demand more respect while doing it, with this tower being one of perhaps many that serve as a simulation for new Hybridniks, and ideas for controlling a specific situation.
Belle, taking all of this in, logically cries about it, because she is forced to confront the fact her dad wasn't a benign creator, but rather a mad destroyer. But, as Tangle pointed out, Belle helped Tangle save team sonic in the end, so that counts for something.
But, even if Eggman effectively disowns her, she still technically has a family to return to: Team Sonic. She also now has the responsibility of carrying on the legacy of Mr. Tinker, provided she is able to upgrade herself to the point that Eggman can't touch her.
Overall, this issue was bittersweet. Sure, the heroes won in the end, and those scars will heal, but emotional and psychological scars, those may never heal
Yeah your right it has the most saddest arc in the IDW series!
Poor Belle...We all knew this was coming, but the way Belle reacted to it and how it was played out...it was just heartbreaking...
Frankly, Its gonna get more worse for her in the next arc when Starline wants to experiment with her.

Evan Stanley really knows how to make a good story. Especially when she has to put said ones in 4 issue arcs. But I am so looking forward to what Ian Flynn has cooked up while waiting for his turn, and what those two can come up with together.

Step brother since she was created by Mr. Tinker if he was Eggman he wouldn't.

I don't think it was just how different Mr. Tinker and Eggman were that shocked Belle, it was how similar Mr. Tinker and Eggman were to each other that hurt her as well. Belle's short talk with Or-bot and Cu-bot about Eggman, reminding her a bit of the similarities the two share then Eggman quickly shutting down any hope that Mr. Tinker ( her father ) could be brought back. That and the general indifference Eggman felt towards Belle must've stung hard too. At least now that Belle has accepted the truth Tangle and the others can be there for her and she can be there for them as well.

Orbot and cubot can float over water so they are fine.
Eggman never answered the question. He just said the obvious in what he was using those pocket dimensions for. I wouldn't call Mr. Tinker an amnesia based facade. It is more akin to a completely different personality and nature all together. I believe that due to the phantom ruby's effects on reality, it brought the good in Eggman to the surface and allowed it express itself and exist as Mr. Tinker however briefly. It is important to keep in mind that Mr. Tinker and Dr. Eggman are effectively two different people that happens to have the same body. Unfortunately now Eggman knows that Belle is in the system unless that zap causes Eggman to forget or Mr. Tinker to resurface once more.
I had ONE expectation of Sonic in this arc, and... he delivered! He showed concern for Tails and Amy, his two nearest and dearest friends, and rushed to save them from being burned alive. He actually showed EMOTION other than laid back and witty! His fear for his friends lives was real and unrestrained, and he even handled it with quick thinking. That's the Sonic I know and love; he has my favor again! :)
Another fun and straightforward IDW Sonic review from an awesome UA-cam, Evan Stanley did a great job on this arc and finding out that Belle was created by Mr. Tinker Eggman was quite cool. As for a possible Mr. Tinker comeback, I think that would be cool if the heroes found a way to create a clone of Mr. Tinker to make Belle feel better while Eggman continues to be the main villain for the time being. Sonic’s 30th anniversary gets more and more special as 2021 continues on, SEGA is real good and so are their partners.

If I'm being honest, i would be open for more 2 issue arks or just one offs like in the Archie days. Sometimes these 4 issue stories can drag (especially with the delays) like this one did in my opinion.
If i become a writer for this comic, i would create new characters, one of them would break the fourt wall.
@@stg4theglitchog768 Well Sonic is basically the only character breaking the fourth wall for some issues I guess I'm fine with Sonic doing it. A lot of new characters will seem odd to have everyone breaking fourth walls it doesn't make sense.

I'm certain that Eggman will utilize the data collected from the tower although without Or-bot and Cu-bot it'll probably take awhile since they were the ones directly overseeing the experiments at the tower, that and without them Eggman will have a bigger workload to deal anyway. It'll also give the Restoration more time to focus on clean up efforts.
This arc isnt bad, but nothing really interesting or relevant happens here, only some more development for Belle. It's a skipable mini-arc, but still enjoyable, Evan Stanley ded a good work
You don't know for certain if it will be irrelevant in the future. Just remember this: if you skip, you might trip.

"What's to stop Eggman from just building another tower" Easy, he'd have to do it twice. Eggman has shown and stated that he doesn't value putting in effort to try anything a second time, like refusing to look for a frequency to control the zombots, simply because it might not work. And as the issue showed, another tower will just get Sonic's undesired attention and get destroyed again. Basically: Plan failed, move on to the next one.
i have a hunch on what one of the future major arcs will be.
in tangle & whisper part 3, eggman is shown to still have shadow androids locked away. my question is, why does he still have the androids? he's got to be planning something with them.

2:58 I think what makes Mr. Tinkerer more impressive is the fact that he may seemingly created a PERFECT A I.

Then again Eggman done that in his sane state in SA1 and Heroes when he created Gamma and Omega so even then he's right, Mr. Tinkerer isn't that impressive.
All he needs is to get Gamma/Omega blueprints and just mass produce them

took the comic long enough to finally reveal mr tinker as belle's creator.
overall, i say this arc was pretty decent, i mean, yea, i'm not too big on the whole laws of physics altering maze thing, both because i find it a little too extreme? i guess? and because, what's the point in giving eggman such an in-depth motivation for creating the maze? like, i highly doubt this premise is gonna be the new status-quo for eggman to warrant it, then again, it took 30 issues for mr tinker to play into anything, so who knows, maybe i'll end up being proven wrong about this, in which case, good.
speaking of good, i fairly liked the dynamic between sonic, amy, and tails throughout this arc, it was especially nice for amy to return to her more classic depiction, whilst also not being flanderized in that depiction, and about this issue, i really liked the bit where amy uses the egg viper tail as a weapon, looked kinda neat.
4:02 "you should try and get metal to play hooky too next time!" are? are we sure there's nothing going on between sonic and metal in this continuity?

So as I didn't hate this story arc and issue will I start with the bad thing so I can end my comment on a high point.
So lets start with the problem that started 3 issues ago Why did the Egg pawns just leave Belle alone? Like seriously its obvious that Orbot and Cubot aren't able to tell imminently that she is an Eggman creation and Eggman him self didn't even remembered that he build her. its really just a contrive and in the grand scream illogical plot point Evan only wrote into for Tangle to learn the truth quicker (while not having Tails just point it out him self despite having just as much reason to think she is an Eggman creation with her having his cipher and all) without thinking about the consequences of it.
Than why did there let Orbot and Cubot go. Like seriously Amy you aren't the head of the resistance anymore if you take prisoners or not is now Jewel decisions and not yours. And could you morons please stop pretending Forces and the Metal Virus arc didn't just happened the previous month because that you aren't taking this more than obvious lead to find Eggman so that you can finally put him ether into a prison or just kill him is laughable unbelievable and irresponsable and really makes one question your morals.
And finally could please someone call Tangle out for nearly getting them all killed with her rash actions? I mean just as I said Eggman found out the moment you appeared. If He had any remote access to the tower or had Belle an emergency obedience ship build into her (you know to prevent her ever harming towns folk and going on a rampage) could Eggman not just have apprehended her but also ensured that you stay long enough in the tower to die when it implodes.
Also Tangle was other than for getting them out not useful at all. And for everyone that says she got them out of the air current please remember that the Altitude Limit Boss in Sonic Rush had the same fan ability and Sonic still beat it no problem.
And on the topic of Tangle How does Eggman even know about her or see her as a major enough torn to say "that Blasted lemur" given that well he hardly had any interactions with her this far Liker seriously For the first story arc was it all Metal Sonic, She wasn't even a part of the resistance during Forces apparently, she was always in the background to all of Eggman's involvement in the Tangle and Whisper Mini series, he was mostly concernt with annoying Sonic and getting the Virus back under control for the first 2/3 of the Metal Virus arc and for the final stretch was she already a Zombot. The Fight in the Epiloge of the Metal Virus arc is literally the only time he know about her being a thing at all and she contributed almost nothing to that fight as no one beside Sonic and Omega him self did any major damage(and I guess Tails for getting Gemerl back out).
He should have more of a reason to act to Cream this way than Tangle as Cream's ending in Advance 2 is the canonical one as its continued in the Super Sonic extra Boss, because she on behave of Emerl electrocuted him in Battle and because she together with all of team Rose got in the way of his hired detective agency.
So now that I have the bad things behind us lets talk positives
Throughout this entire arc was the writing for Tails, Sonic and Amy really great (even if this issue properly has the least of it). And just as I said last time there can totally use the vipers against each other no problem.
Belle having a complete emotional breakdown after learning the truth 100% for real was very well handled as was Eggman's explanation why him being greater as the Eggman was as well. (even if I have to ask why its pretty much just Tangle that comforts her at the end given that both Amy and Sonic have a history of doing the same, Amy in particular even for Eggman Robots that are nice. So unless Sega flat out doesn't allow this characters to be as nice as there are suppose to be am I not sure why Tangle has to do it on her own again especially this shortly after Whisper)
And while the art isn't at its most consistent in this issue so are the moments that had to be drawn well (especially Belle's face for the revelation) look just as incredible as there should be.
(also I see Sonic's hasn't fully recovered from the end of the Metal Virus arc when getting Hammered into a Robot is making him see multiple tails by now)
But the most important thing of all the Streamer Version Cover is the best Cover this series has gotten so far and between recreating Sonic Advance sprites, Fighting game screen and just great art peaces is is up against some tough Competition but nothing beats Live streamer Eggman.
well as we know from sonic generations, egg-pawns are highly *clears throat* "respectful" of women, and in this case they were respectful of bright blue eyed women with robotic joints, so naturally they passed her by without bothering her, orbot and cubot are uncultured though and didn't ignore her right away.
but you see, they _weren't_ the ones responsible for either of those events, thus they should be spared, also with how super prepared you're making eggman out to be, you could just as well say he has a remote shut-off or memory wipe/transfer switch that would keep them form ratting him out, not saying this is what i think would happen but still, instead, what we need to talk about is why sonic in this comic series is so in love with metal sonic, seriously, it's going a little beyond "merciful hero who believes in second chances." at this point.
"(you know to prevent her ever harming towns folk and going on a rampage)" i see practically no-reason to have such a feature, unless belle is a gizoid who'd freak out about a new power, or is otherwise under threat of reprogramming by eggman's enemies (something i highly doubt mr tinker would think of, let alone anticipation) or something like that, you are right about how if eggman did anything about belle, the heroes would be F'ed

eggman knows tangle because he can calculate her plot-relevance with his gamer headset.
as said in my own comment, i also dug amy using the viper tail as a weapon (even if it still makes me question how super strength works in this god-forsaken franchise).
well, sonic was a long-time wood Race-ist so he's in no position to comfort belle, and amy's kindness to robots only applied to gamma because she still had a brain during sa1, and she was only nice to emerl because she diluted herself into thinking she's his mother, so really, she's not the best person for comforting belle/s.

but more importantly than either of those.....i want to see mike pollock do a stream in his eggman voice, it doesn't have to be a sonic game, i'd just listen to him talk for a bit.
Belle herself is probably in the system hence why the Egg pawns didn't do anything to her. I wouldn't be surprised that Mr. Tinker was vaguely aware of Dr. Eggman and so set a few precautions. Of course Eggman now knows she is in the system unless that zap messed with his head again.

I suppose Belle has some rather impressing Hip joints so I guess that checks out thanks for filling in that plot hole/s
Firstly I don't thing my threats what Eggman could have access to are all that impressive given that we just had a whole Mini series about a certain Platypus wanting to use a base that allowed complete control over all other bases in the Eggman Empire. With something as central governing as that already being now an established part of the Eggman Empire is assuming he can remote into a base of his and take control over its Robots really nothing to ridicules to assume. Especially as his in the same Facility build 4 Egg Viper versions to test them in the alternative universe he created all of which he can easily remote control with his gamer gear. If anything its rather convenient for the Heroes that he has nothing else in the base to remote into.
Secondly who cares about them not being directly responsible for it there are to Eggman Loyal minion bots with tons of vital information about the Empire. The comic writers can't just get away with "our heroes aren't that proactive" excuse anymore because doing this after all the stuff that just happened makes our heroes look incredibly bad almost asking for another Forces, Metal Virus scenario to happen. At least in the games can I say that eggman never tried to do anything that would kill everyone (sure Infinites Sun in forces was a thing but given the stupid rules on the Phantom Ruby would I at least assume he would only effect our Heroes and even than do I thing that this really did some lasting damage for the games canon)
And Thirdly Between Sonic letting Eggman keep getting away and all of the Metal Sonic stuff you referring to are we sure Sonic hasn't been infected with a serious case of Dragonball Super Son Goku? (you know the guy that hires someone to kill him just so he can have a good fight)
I was more so thinking of a "in case I accidentally get her good and evil polarization mixed up" situation like Gerald ones did with a bunch of Artificial Chaos's. Especially given that ever since Generation and the Time eater Eggman got more cautious in keeping the monsters he hires under control (best example properly being infinite how he could force to retrieve) and some of Eggman's old thoughts blended into Tinkers tinkering (I mean Belle having the Cipher for Eggman decryption should be all the prove we need for that)
You see you can hate Rush story all you want I do to but its still something that canonically happened in this comic so Evan got to deal with it.
Ah yes of cause obviously is Eggman currently the highest level gamer as he isn't effected by the Metal Virus bound GPU shortage at all as he can just build his own Graphic cards. (I would if you will get the joke here)
I thing Amy doing that was an big old sorry from Evan for the BS that was the Hotel fighting scene from her previous story.
But Ali Evan put Amy's brain back into her head isn't this like one of the things we like about this story.

Between the Twitter takeovers and the rise of V-Tubers its almost impressive that Sega didn't already do this (Eggman plays would so totally top popularity charts when I already see what some of the fan Role playing channels get on views)

I mean it was quit thoroughly tested by the Chaotix is Tinker had any of Eggman's knowledge and there couldn't find anything beside the odd name here and there.
But I thing this really is THE problem for me its really just that Orbot and Cubot both of which should have all the information in the system far beyond an Egg Pawn didn't recognize her at all not even as an Eggman creation at first (despite Eggman him self recognizing her on his own genius craftsman ship)
@@rynobehnke8289 Eggman just put two and two together. It is made of his craftsmanship but he has no recollection or even awareness of this one's existence, therefore it must have been made by Mr. Tinker. Really simple logic there.
As for Mr. Tinker we have seen some stuff pop up as commonality such as Eggman land, not to mention they have the same I.Q. so it stands to reason that Mr. Tinker was vaguely aware of his evil side and made all precautions to protect Belle.
