I legitimately stopped after Vector sacrificed himself and applauded Ian's writing. That brought a tear to my eye. AND IT'S A SONIC COMIC BASED ON THE GAMES WHAT
I was more stunned Vector immediately threw himself at Charmy to protect the others
He acted like it wasn't a big deal, saying the kid was starting to be a pain in the butt and telling Eapio with a thumbs up he was now leader. And then threw himself at the horde to protect the others.
I really like Amy's and Cream's relationship in this series.

Gotta give Vanilla some respect, she wasn't just infected by accident, she was grappling with the Zombot despite not being a fighter to protect her daughter.

I love how Ian Flynn and IDW are doing justice to Amy’s character! Amy was a real badass in this chapter and it only serves to emphasize why Neo Metal Sonic at the end of issue 1 targeted Amy to be ambushed and killed alongside Sonic with a battalion of badniks and a super badnik. Her skills as a fighter, strategist and leader made her a dangerous threat equally alongside Sonic. Cream’s words of encouragement to Amy was as sweet as it was touching, so much so that it moved Amy to tears before hugging and thanking the young and brave six-year-old. It shows that even leaders get stressed out, depressed and discouraged sometimes and need encouragement and support from those who look up to them.
Archie Comics however was both infamous and notorious for never doing justice to Amy’s character, always looking for opportunities to make Amy look immature, bratty, sometimes out of character and on the receiving end of their jokes, and there were times when those jokes were harsh. They had always given the best female character developments to Sally Acorn who isn’t canon to the SEGA Sonic mainstream. When SEGA of America said they’re taking the Sonic comics to a new direction, it was 100% worth it! SEGA cutting ties with Archie Comics and cancelling the Archie Sonic comics entirely for the new IDW Sonic comics was the best thing they did for the comics.
That monkey civilian who knew he was infected with the virus but told nobody about it was a very selfish and treacherous coward! It was his own selfishness and cowardice which led to Restoration HQ’s downfall, the majority of the refugees getting infected, Cream losing her mother Vanilla who sacrificed herself to protect Cream and Espio now losing Vector who sacrificed himself to stop the infected Charmie from infecting the remaining survivors and fighting back the infected civilians so the others could escape. If you ask me, the infected cowardly monkey civilian deserves to die! There’s no justifying or excusing his selfish actions or cowardice!
The monkey will probably get scolded for his selfish actions. I hope that everyone realises that Sonic is not to blame for letting Mr Tinker go, but for something else.

The situation grows ever dire. One man's selfishness cost them the Restoration HQ. While Vector may have had good intentions, there is an old saying: "The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions." Amy and Cream were great in this issue.
The responses to the situation were completely organic. Cream, Amy, and even Espio were all pushed to their breaking point, yet they still kept moving forward. At Gemerl's insistance.
Still, I felt bad for Cream and Espio. They both lost people they were acquainted with for years, and that attachment can really yank people's chains. All in all, this issue was saddening as the situation continues getting dire and darker.
The monkey was at fault: he knew he was infected, yet he chose to hide it from everyone.
I know he was scared of being alone, and that's understandable, but still. If he knew how the Virus worked, by watching people become Zombots, why would he voluntarily put the traumatised citizens in danger?
Overall, I liked this issue and how it represents the struggles both the heroes and citizens go through, with the Metal Virus scheme still occurring. Also, Vanilla's transformation was heartbreaking. To see a kind, loving parental figure sacrifice their own lives to save those they care about is both heroic and unsettling.
I also sympathised with Espio when he lost two members of the Chaotix, leaving him only one left (I still blame Charmy for the mess he got himself into).
I honestly wanted to hug Cream. First her friends cheese and chocola, now her own mother. She won't leave without any mental scars. Nobody will. I enjoyed this issue, but damn was it a heavy one.

This just keeps getting darker and darker by the comic. Seriously, we are losing more and more characters cause of that damn virus. This is gonna come to bite eggman in the bottom, there's no doubt about that. Sonic is the only hope now, if that device he has with him is destroyed......

While that would be interesting to see, it is unlikely given how Silver told us that nothing survived the aftermath.

I really enjoyed this issue, but of course I'm sad about the situation as of now. If I have to predict about Sonic's POV issue, he probably will get the data, but he will be put at more risk of getting fully infected. And about the Zeti, there's no doubt things will get worse once they arrive to the scene.
I feel really bad for the survivors, especially Cream and Espio. Cream already lost Cheese and Chocola, and now she witnessed her mother getting infected as well. Espio lost both Vector and Charmy, and now he's the sole Chaotix member left. Amy couldn't believe the disaster went this far, and Gemerl must now risk everything to protect Cream.
I didn't want to say this now, but Sonic might not be a Zombot. He's the lead character after all, and given how SEGA turned down Shadow's original actions in issue 19, it's possible they wouldn't want Sonic to be a Zombot either. Regardless, I can't wait until the next issue comes out!
If every IDW Sonic Saga is as good as this one, then we're in for a real roller coaster ride.
I'm already looking forward to each new issue with the same excitement I did back in the day with Archie Sonic.
Wow. Just wow. This got about as dark as it can get. An infected citizen slipping into HQ felt like something out of a horror movie, but as soon said citizen fully converts into a Zombot and as soon as Zombot Charmy broke free fron the container, all Hell broke loose. Poor Cream and Espio. For Cream, loosing Cheese and Chocola was hard enough, but losing Vanilla, her mother, that bit my heart. Then there was Vector's sacrifice. Jesus. That brought tears to my eyes. With nothing left, Sonic's literally the *only* hope these people have left. Can't wait for the next issue.

@@classicspeeder he can't use any of his chaos powers tho. as a zombie he isn't cognitively capable of using any of his advanced abilities. That's why he couldn't use his rocket shoes.
This issue was intense, the expressions, the feelings and the horror are very well demonstrated here.
Poor Cream, she is probably the strongest character present here, thanks to her shiny smile, but behind that face lies a worried and scared child who has seen friends fall victim to the plague. And now, her own mother is a Zombot as well. Thank goodness Amy rescued her and Gemerl made sure she wasn't affected.
Speaking of him, Gemerl was the voice of reason in this issue (even though he's a robot). After the Chaotix return with more survivors, he was concerned about Vector's decision of bringing Charmy. On one hand, maybe with an alive sample, Tails could use him to research a cure; but on the other hand, Gemerl was worried about the consequences of a rampaging Zombot on the Restoration HQ, especially a flying Zombot. Vector payed the price of being loyal to his team, and Espio is the sole survivor of the Chaotix.
Amy is well presented here. Being a leader is never easy, especially with a crisis at hand, and this issue showed a great demonstration of perseverance and dedication to rescue her friends and preparing for the future.
Now, it's all up to Sonic and Tails' gadget.

I've seen this comic and omg this situation has officially becoming disasterly worse. Vanilla and Vector gas become zombot-i-fied I can't believe this is happening they don't deserve.😫
Prediction: next episode Sonic reunites with the custom hero of Sonic Forces.
That said, the artist really did a good job in displaying the emotions of Amy, Cream, Espio, and Tails here. Amy especially with how she's breaking down.

This is by far the nastiest plan Eggman ever came up with, not to mention he managed to subdue several of the heroes, including Shadow and Sonic as at risk.
But like a number of his plans, it's gonna bite him in the back once the Zeti come.

Happy Halloween, Megabeatman. Great way to kick off the week with an IDW Sonic review of the latest entry in the Metal Virus Robo-Zombie saga. Man, I can't believe Team Sonic is losing the battle against the robot zombie hordes and now the Deadly Six are entering the picture. Its just like the Syria Civil War where Russia comes in and causes problems!
I have to agree with you, MBM, Cream might have to spend time in therapy for a while because this whole thing is traumatizing her, especially after she saw her pet Chao turn into zombots as well as her mother Vanilla. Espio? I feel sorry for him too. Also, the move Amy did on page 14 is similar to the hammer jump from Sonic Adventure!

Man. Things have gonna alot worse. I have a feeling we'll see Zombot Vector and Vanilla in issue 24. And reading solicitations for issue 25, I can see in issue 24, Eggman, Tails, Amy, Cream, Even Dr. Starline become zombots due to the Zeti taking over the zombots. Cream even getting infected by vanilla. And given on now we have Flying Zombots, Charmy, cheese and Chocola may head to angel island, and Knuckles might get infected. And we may have to rely on Silver to find a cure and fix things if Sonic's infection accelerates from being burned off to the point it instantly converts Sonic to a Zombot.
@@vectorfan2 Yeah. Or worse, Looking at the Cover for Issue 24, Blaze may visit with Marine the Raccoon, but, they get infected as well. As well as Tangle and Whisper, Living Silver to survive.
Alright gonna throw a predection out and see how well it holds up in the future. Next issue Sonic is gonna turn into a Zombot fully but before he does as a last ditch effort he confrots Eggman directly and manages to infect him before he fully turns. With that probably not happening, I honestly really loved this issue. Somehow the stakes keep raising even higher and it's keeping me on the edge of my seat. Loved Amy's and Cream's interaction to really showcase their sister dynamic they had in Sonic Heroes, and Amy being a badass is always welcome. I was devastated to see Cream's reaction to her Mother turning into a Zombot. Her Mom was most definitely her emotional support during all this chaos and I hope come next issue she isn't completely devoid of life because she in term was Amy's emotional support as we see in this issue. This issue also strengthened my love of the Chaotix even more when they were already my favorite team from Heroes. Vector took a risk in bringing Charmy to the base, which I definitely saw as an emotional decision rather than a logical one that we usually see from him, and it ultimately cost him in the end. His sacrifice was probably the coolest thing I've seen in this whole series but of course this doesn't count what we may see in the future. Espio's reaction was also extremely devastating. We've also seen Espio as calm and stoic even in moments of extreme stress, so seeing him absolutely broken that *both* of his close team members was just a pain to see. My only concern is the Deadly Six and how they'll play a role in all of this. We only have 2 issues left so I'm hoping the ending and how they even contribute doesn't feel rushed after all the good build up we've gotten.
Your only hope take everybody's to blaze dimension or Angel Island. Why doesn't Sonic go to Angel Island turn Super using the master Emerald. I am pretty sure that will cure him. And probably anybody else.

Take notes Sega...this is how you make a dark sonic story without it looking silly. It is still silly, but to help it, it adds emotions. How Sega manages to forget this simple element is baffling.
Shadow: While reckless ultimately sacrificed himself to protect and help get a city worth of survivors to a safe house
Fandom: Lol, what an idiot
Vector: Brings an infected zombot to the freaking safe house and has to sacrifice himself to fix the mess he made

No shadow didn't run because he thought it was an act if cowardice and let his ego get the better of him
The difference is Shadow is the ULTIMATE LIFEFORM, he would have provided much needed help to our heroes right now if he had just ran like Sonic did.

Ok, I am getting concern for this. if this Metal Virus is going to be a Saga and keep going at the moment, I am really hoping that three things happen. Either A) Sonic does get the data that Tails would need and it get send to him on the shuttle so that a cure can be made, with the only safe place now being Angel Island (Knuckles better be given up to date of what is happening) for him to make a cure. B) Sonic does get turn into a full Zombot, but like the Werehog, he is himself and makes sure not to infect anyone, while also using it as an advantage to hold the other Zombots back. Or C) They find out that the only way to burn off the Metal Virus through Sonics data is with the power of Chaos aka the power of the Chaos Emeralds or the Master Emerald. Plus it would give them a reason of why they are all gathered so quickly by Starline.

We all know Eggman's not gonna be killed off because Sega wouldn't allow it. Still, I agree. I mean, if Eggman did get arrested after this and they intended to keep him alive, the best thing to do to keep him confined would be to throw him in a medieval dungeon and chain him to the wall!

MysteriousGirl 92 I have tons of ideas: she’s accepted a mission to evacuate the non infected, she’s been infected like you thought, she’s probably looking for Shadow to find a cure for him, or she’s going to confront eggman for Shadow being infected and omega being destroyed, being mad about the destruction of Team Dark. Those are my ideas.
You know something? Espio is believed to have ESP and Silver is psychic.
What are the chances that one of them would find out the real truth about Eggman's resurrection that lead to the Metal Virus scheme?
I get the feeling that Silver will go back in time to find out what happened and confront Sonic about it. If that happens in any of the future issues, you know that stuff is gonna go down.
Cream, most of all, will be incredibly upset and Espio would be furious with him. Everyone will know about it and eventually turn against Sonic. One of the citizens will point out that Tails can fix machines and they will turn against him as well.
Just a thought.
I hope Sonic find the cure, so he don't become one of zombot for the madness Eggman cause. I know he be extremely piss out eggman done to his friends like charmy, cheese, chocolate, and shadow with issue 23.😧🧟♂️🧟♀️

I am curious if Charmy's shoe reattached after being a zombot....still, now that Big is inflected, no barrier can keep him back. Also...weird how smart some of the zombots are without commands to disable Tails plan.

Y'know, I think having charmy infect everyone would've been fine and reasonable enough, it's the one refugee that infects everyone that bothers me to no end, like, seriously? You're trying to tell me that no one at restoration HQ makes sure no zombots enter by accident? No strip searches or anything like that? Like, i'm sorry but that part was unnecessary and contrived in my opinion.
Yes it was and I really hate this story by this point as soon as we let go of the ever same formula far a second do we jumpt right into plot contrivances fun house.
Also noted how the infected that had to be on the whole trip just suddenly jumped from barley infected to full on Zombot despite that we early on established that without further contact second hand infected take a really long time to transform (remember the Ricky test subject) its so stupid especially given that in the very same issue we learn that Gemerl has a build in infection scanner makes this only more ridicules.(And don't get me stated on Germerl who still has less personality than most of Eggman's E-100 Model machines)
Also why exactly was Vector the one that got the jump in Charmy and not the super Professional robot that just 3 pages earlier was stated by Amy to be the fastest at the HQ (heck by playing with Advance 3 rules could he just chaos control right into charmy's face and Slam him out like he does during his alter Emeralds and Cyber track act 3 fights)
And While I agree that Charmy breaking out would have been a better sole reason would it still not have been a good one because there is really no reason why only now the capsule would break (its not like Charmy showed any signs of intelligent here) not to mention as previously said Gemerl should by all accounts just have been able to teleport right to Charmy before he can do anything given his speed advantage, the fact that he can also fly, is also a super fast thinking machine so reaction speed is a non factor, can't be infected and has the power to forcefully remove him at ones.
Also given that Both Eggman and Tails stated that the metal Virus works just like a real virus HOW would the characters base strenge have anything to do with how the Zombot turns out given that Zombots being viruses and all literally consume there victims original matter to make more of them self.
I mean I could see a point being made for Shadow that the Virus had to massively mutate to work on him but a mea mortal like Vector?
I start to believe that Tails and Eggman are just talking out of there asses at this point while the actual geneticist Gerald Robotnik is rotating as Super Sonic speed in his grave.
Also it couldn't be an Ian Flinn story without a massiv butt load of Forced Drama (I am genuinely surprised that Espio and Cream made it out alive I originally going into it just assumed everyone but Amy would be gone by the end of the issue seriously so much build up for Cream is Ian actually considering doing anything with her for a change(hahahahha as if that ever happens) or is it all just because nothing is more dramatic than making the sweetest cinnamon-roll really really sad well beside killing her off of cause)
As nice as it is to see Cream and Amy properly written for the first time since forever (and Vector keeps proving that he is seemingly immune to bad writing no matter if Boom, X, spin-off's with rather bad stories he always powers through (well except for Free Riders but really WHO survived free riders?)
And I guess its nice that Zavoc is actually Zavoc and not what ever that red thing in Team Sonic Racing was suppose to be.
But seriously this bits of good Character writing just can't make up for the fact that by this point the entire story is running purely on plot-contrivances.

But what we got is actually worse because the former could at least run under using a Characters character against her which at least would somehow made some sense especially if said other person simply tricked her (after all the infection is slow at first) but what we got instead of just so infinity more contrived I'm surprised that infinites theme just doesn't brash out of the pages ones you reach that point.
Also is it just me or do the last few issues paced awfully fast I mean this story felt like it was over before it even really began.

honestly, i think ian was looking for an excuse as to how charmy would be released from his confinement, but couldn't think of anything, and this was the best he could come up with.
"there is really no reason why only now the capsule would break" well, judging by what we saw last issue and in issue 20, everything in the sonic universe is made out of glass, so the capsule would break if vector slipped on a banana and just dropped it.
as for gemerl not using teleportation? i'll cut ian some slack here, since again, chaos control is not the best explored thing in the series, so i can buy that maybe gemerl didn't have the means to do chaos control at that moment, i have no excuse for why he doesn't fly and catch charmy at super speed though.

huh, interesting, i myself always thought he was in the mid to late 40's range, like 45 to 48, he doesn't look that old to me really, i mean yea, he's bald, and fat, but the former is probably just genetics or preference, while the latter is due to an unhealthy lifestyle (and he's still somehow faster than sonic, okay?), none of which means you're old, heck, none of the characters treat him as if he's a senior citizen, so i never thought of him as such, still, it is interesting to know.

Yes I also would excuse the exclusion of Chaos control especially given how random Iizuka handles its existence in recent years but Amy flatout stating him to be the fastest and him than over and over again not stopping problems using his amazing speed is just really stupid.
Well yes I guess through his character development in that game unfortunately goes against Sonic Team's current want to keep him as a pure attack drone with no personality so for all intense and purposes did Free Riders not even happened for Metal..
True the start of the series was really drawn out and slow and now do things move at such a high pace that we hardly have a story anymore per issue.

Well given that I since SA2 always assumed that Eggman was still alive as a little boy when his grandfather was still alive does it line up pretty well with my head-canon but I can understand we you would assume he is younger (especially given how some really old Characters like the ones in Unleashed looked like) so assuming this is actually correct would I assume that Eggman founds his empire not just through the black marked, Casinos and mechanical shell companies but also through a very successful beauty product line. No wounder he has always founding for yet another Death Egg.

Well I don't have the manual(and the original Japanese ones for the GBA games aren't all that well documented for example the best I could found out about advance 3 is that its the first game canon mention that Sonic loves Chilly Dogs) and the game doesn't say anything about it because its just a silly subgame to earn more rings and this Casino (and yes its a pinball operated casino complete with one armed bandits and Roulett) minigame happens to be hostest by Cream and Cheese (funnily enough the Main story mode has a tournament list that shows many other fights but Cream her self isn't listed instead to we have for example the Nights into Dream's cast (and Shadow by the way beats Realla and losses to Wiseman) which could imply that she is in deed the boss and can't participate because of it but a concrete owner isn't named.
(Also I would advice you to look up Cream's sprites from Pinball party because one of her in between frames actually has her with the must smug possible face and I can help but imagine that every time she winks does she actually pull this face and things about how she is going to drain me of all of my rings.)

"Yay for the ability to deal with massiv text walls you just get more shit done with them than with your average 3 sentence comment." i don't mind 3 sentence comments, but 7 or 8 times out of 10, people can't accurately put all of their thoughts cohesively in just a few sentences (me included), so having slightly longer comments (ESPECIALLY ones not filled with constant insults) can be a good thing.
oh right, forgot to mention that, yea it does make sense for eggman to be around 56 years old when you take sa2 into account.
aha, perfect, now i have a good explanation for why eggman kidnaps vanilla in advance 2, i'll proceed to officially put this into my fanfic now, and it fits in with me giving all the main cast (except knuckles and shadow for obvious reasons) wealthy/high-paying occupation parents.

Honestly, I would've preferred for Eggman to stay Tinkerer longer with Starline controling his army and fighting Sonic himself until he recovered him and not have some teleportation maguffin (Warp Topaz). So a whole war is fought over the amnesiac doctor. Restoration is pushed into a corner somehow and Tinkerer surrenders himself to avoid anymore people being hurt (probably those who were in immediate danger). Then gets converted back to Eggman via some machine (or that shockingly brutal eletro-therapy he was given).
Instead of metal virus it is just him trying to take over the world with force and military might as usual. Maybe add in new robots that are like the Hard Boiled heavies to be his generals (similar to the Egg Bosses in Archie). This "Walking Dead" Sonic thing isn't working for me and I don't think it works for Sonic either unless it is more of parody, joke, or a one to two issue mini arc. To me it has long overstayed its welcome taking so much of this year.
The Shadow the Hedgehog video game mirrored realistic violence with guns and unnecessary swear words. That was going too far. This arc is very similar to the SatAm cartoon in that people are turning into robots. It’s all about nature vs industry something Sonic has been tackling way back since his inception in 1991. This is not dark. Sonic is not some kiddy “gotta go fast” memes as the marketing team is starting to take Sonic into. Ever since the beginning he’s always had more action and tone then other platforming mascots. This story arc is nothing at all compared to Shadow the Hedgehog.
That was English version of Shadow the Hedgehog. The English version is very over the top with it's tone. The Japanese version of Shadow is much more mature & dark without being needlessly edgy. In a way, the Sonic franchise was always sorta dark in a way(reminds me of Kirby)
I swear, so much of this comic's dialogue is rushed, one-dimensional, cliché bullshit.
