- Get ready for the most exciting SUV drag race we’ve ever run on this channel!
We’ve finally got our hands on the Tesla Model X Plaid, and it’s going up against the new Lamborghini Urus Performante, a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, an AMG GLE 63 and a BMW X5M!
So let’s see how they all compare. Starting with the X5M, it’s powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It tips the scales at 2,410kg, and it costs £121,000. Next up it’s the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, which is equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that delivers 640hp and 850Nm. It weighs in at 2,200kg, and it costs £150,000.
Next up is the Urus, which also has a 4-litre V8, putting down 666hp and 850Nm. It’s both the lightest and most expensive car here, coming in at 2,150kg and £209,000 respectively. The GLE 63 S comes in with a similar engine, although it’s down on power compared to the Urus, producing 612hp and 850Nm. It tips the scales at 2,400kg, and it costs £124,000.
Finally, we have the most powerful car here, the Model X Plaid! Its electric motors combine to produce 1,020hp and 1,020Nm, it weighs in at 2,500kg, and it’ll set you back £133,000.

It was on winter tires which makes this test completely useless as it should've won by even more, new units produced now have better brakes but most importantly its the safest car here by far
Just imagine that the slowest time here was 12.2 which a few years ago would've been unbelievable for a luxury SUV.

That Tesla is just insane. My favorite was the Porsche though. Would of loved to see the Trackhawk in this SUV group. Fun video to watch.

That’s an annoying mistake from an expert like Matt… but not making a massive change in terms of the massive humiliation for all ICE’s
I clearly remember Matt calling out relevant tire differences in other tests, but in this one not a word.
On the positive, they should do a test with the same Model X plaid but with summer sports tires that are equivalent to the other cars, from the same high speed on the same side of the track for direct comparison of tire breaking performance winter vs summer.
I must say I'm very impressed with that Porche, it came second in both speed and brakes, May not be number one but I can trust it wont let me down when it comes to avoiding Hijacking or avoiding accidents, run or brake I'm covered

I was very confused with the braking performance of the Tesla plaid, then I saw the winter tires, maybe you should mention that. (As you know the braking performance is much worse with winter tires vs summer tires, that is also why the plaid did a slower quarter mile time).

That´s why the tesla beat their asses even more from a rolling start, because traction is less of an issue here.

It would do a bit better, but the Tesla brakes definitely aren't up to par with the acceleration. I own an X and am a huge fan, but brakes are a major weak point.

Why was the Plaid the only one on winter tires? This seems like a huge oversight for an acceleration and braking test, where tires are extremely important.

And as far as I know, that car wasn't opened to the 200 MPH speed, because it doesn't have the brake options.
@@Likr666 The Model S Plaid is the one designed for 200mph, the X Plaid was never designed for that
It's clearly an oversight, but what if the temperature was low? Richard says on his channel the day started with -1 degrees C and he went to this drag race in the morning. By 4.39 pm the car showed 9 degrees, so it is possible that the temperature in the morning was 4 degrees, maybe even lower. Winter tires are usually recommended below 7 degrees so maybe Tesla was not disadvantaged.

Everyone knew the Tesla would explode from the start. I'm impressed that it launched fast but continued to pull away all the way to the finish line. That is/was the one thing that Tesla needed to improve and they clearly improved. The BMW launched so good it stayed with the Tesla for the first 100ft roughly.

The plaid powertrain is a complete innovation. The carbon sleeved rotors put of 1,020 hp and have a very good power curve all the way to 200 mph. There are very few things that can beat it.
The Cayenne turbo gt is the fastest luxury suv still
Now that the Purosangue is out, you must put it against a model X plaid, X5M/X6M, urus perfomante, cayenne turbo GT, GLe63S, DBX 707, Bentayga Speed, Audi RSQ8, Jeep Trackhawk & Range Rover SVR or F Pace SVR

IT was terrible braking in winter tires ill be honest.. i was there this day and it smoked up like a house on fire when they did the break test.

@@Vercixx Not really maybe if they did the breaking test first. But the tires where already warm when they did the breaking test and winter tires dont perform great on a dry surface when they are warm. So the cars with summer tires hade an big adventages.

The tires were already warm - I assume from the drag races before - I'm not sure is a valid assumption. If it was 0 degrees as somebody says that it was clarified it was (I didn't see such clarification), then maybe the tires were not that warm.
