I do agree that a steering wheel falling off does indeed increase the risk of a crash.
Just pull on it hard while it's parked to see if it's lose
@@ukaszstec470 Loose, not lose.............
Yeah. The Nissan Ariya has a recall for steering wheels coming loose but it's not as newsworthy.
@@ukaszstec470 if not, then it wins
Who's installing these falling-off steering wheels? Toyota?
Another great video Ryan. Of note on the colors, Model S was available from 2012-2014 in green, brown, a lighter gray, silver, white Pearl, plain white, black, and black metallic, as well as the original darker blue.
If it ever gets to $69,420 again, I'm hitting buy that very second.
Bring back indicator stalks on the model S. Having the indicators on the wheel is dangerous if you are doing a quick series of turns where the wheel isn’t straight ahead when you are trying to use them.
There are multiple instances of this requirement within a few km of my house, and that doesn’t include some round abouts where changing indicating while turning is required.
THIS
Ferrari and Lamborghini has had their indicators switch on their steering wheel for several years before tesla. They seem to be fine.
@@bradchin7746 There are few Ferrari drivers out on the road during all times of the year relative to Teslas.
Agreed
Picture this: Cybertruck in ultra red. Paint it or wrap it- just match that rich red metallic. Hell yes
Tesla is like an iphone. Moderate improvements year over year. There is really no excitement from version to version. The car looks basically the same as when it came out in 2009. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think a lot of customers are ready for a new body design.
Heck no. The new plaid looks slightly worse then the previous S
Even the iPhone has updated its design significantly since its inception
The S has the best design imo so I would hope if it was changed it doesn’t look worse
Great videos. I love the way they are presented. Easy to watch and very enjoyable. Thank you.
the amount of high quality information you deliver in every upload is phenomenal!!
The f150 Raptor is significantly wider than a normal F150 so the CT still has extra width girth versus an F150.
just FYI, Renault is pronounced "Ren-O"
It is good Tesla is reintroducing the round steering wheel, but the absence of a turn signal stalk makes this car unusable for me, because the orientation of left and right buttons change as the wheel is rotated. I would be curious to learn what percentage of new vehicles are shipped with yoke, now that purchasers have a choice.
@@JetFire9 You don't drive do you? Roundabouts is hell without stalks. Steering wheel is often upside down and then you have to press LEFT for it to signal RIGHT. It's just a stupid change.
Got my plaid a year ago, you get used to it quickly. The turn signal are a non issue.
@@swissness2444 Sounds like copium
@Jay Talents something about Tesla people is so weird. Like I want a Tesla I think it’s cool, but there’s so obviously some issues but they just get so defensive.
The new model S Plaid with ceramic brakes looks like a monster. Recent track record. New glass roof. HW4. Tesla never stops
Fantastic information ryan.
Yes I’ve heard about the steering wheel issue. 2 cars!
It’s an issue but definitely not insurmountable.
The rest rest to the video is amazing.
Ohhh, a new paint scheme. How invigorating!
It's just a different type of red 😂😂😂. Not impressive when legacy automakers make new colors every year.
@@StarInfinite00 Legacy automakers 🤣It's all they have for them... new colours... the rest of their cars sucks
I’m thinking dummy camera is just because they had a lot of the old units around and just filled in the gap as cheaper than binning and remaking the whole unit
The “missing camera” is for right hand drive units? On those the other side will have the dummy camera, right?
No recall for my 2023 YLR. First time Tesla owner and very Happy with the vehicle.
Better check all the nuts and bolts to make sure the factory actually installed them and tightened them.
I dont know why "missing USS sensors" are now a "benefit". I know in USA you have big parkinglots. But in europe withous USS sensors and distance signals you are completely lost. I am still waiting on my S LR and i think about cancelling it since its now a 2m big car without any parking assistance. How should you drive with such a big car in a tiny german parkinglot?
NOBODY could have known that parking spaces in cities are rare and often tight. And by nobody I mean billionaires in Texas.
Does it have cameras? Or 360 cameras?
I really love the park assistance in the old 90s s class and 7 series. ( sarcasm)
@@epap1375 It has cameras but not front cameras that can see down below the hood of the car. And the screen in the car won't show you a 360° view stitched from the cameras at all.
(Elon has 'accepted' the '360° camera' feature request 2 1/2 years ago on twitter but nothing has happened and from the way he talked about it at the time it might even require the 15.000$ FSD payment to have a 360° view, when it finally arrives. And even then it won't be able to see low obstactles in front of you due to the camera position)
Learn how to drive and you won’t need sensors… crazy thought.
Always super interesting videos
Seems like if Tesla has good record-keeping that would allow them to identify vehicles that had those "end-of-line repairs", it could be quite a targeted recall, if one occurs.
16:25 Glad to see Mitsubishi teaming with both Nissan and Renault on BEVs. Hopefully, they’ll be more affordable.
Hey Ryan,
Any recommended windshield wiper brand for your model 3 that can support winter season?
Steering wheel falling off is crazy😂😂 cartoon cars I tell ya.
To me it sounds like Tesla is going to use the components of the plaid s/x for the cyber truck tri-motor and if they do a quad-motor cyber truck it is going to be a new quad-motor s/x to keep the s is the fastest production Tesla.
Love the videos you make
Aren't the new brake pads an admission that the previous brakes were underpowered? Can we get a new set of these pads on our old Plaids?
I had an '86 Jetta where the steering wheel came completely loose.
I just got off a highway exit ramp A couple minutes earlier and was parallel parking when the wheel suddenly just spun loose.
I was so grateful it didn't happen three minutes earlier.
edit: The car only had a few thousand miles on it. I never considered buying a vw again... and especially so after dieselgate.
Matthew's tweet does not say he believes CT is tri not quad motor, only that the company first mentioned the former, and Elon later tweeted the latter. Tri motor would give competitors advantages over Tesla, don't think they want that to be the case.
Tesla will do much better with the tri-motor than others can do with 4 motors
I just purchased and picked up a brand-new Model X from the Fremont factory with HW4. I'm coming from a Model Y, and the new HW4 cameras look amazing, especially when you use them to check your blind spot with the blinker on. However I'm sad to report I that I'm having tons of problems which all kicked in 5 minutes after taking it off the factory "lot". My steering wheel drives about 20% off of center and I have a slew of errors while driving: No break regen, no saftey features, no autopilot, no cruise control, no lane assist and other errors. Also the "automatic" driver door only opens about 4 inches and then you have to push it open against the resistance of the motor the rest of the way to get out. On the plus side, they quoted me only $250 to fix everything a week from now. Seriously, I'm not sure why they quoted me $250, but everyone at Tesla seems like they're over worked and they're doing you a huge favor by interacting with you. It's kind of like communicating with a faceless AI. I'm really not sure what's going on at the Fremont factory in particular, but it seems like they need to shut down that factory and start over with a new one.
you got MUSKED
9:58 - Another YT channel has a photo that does not show an opening gap around the headlights meaning the front trunk will open like the F150 Lightning.
Can you index your content? It would be nice to jump to segments. Thanks!
Excellent video and knowledge source! What updates are happening to 2024 Model S? Should I wait to buy?
Ffs. I'm literally about to get my model Y and I have more anxiety than actual fun. Wtf. The amount of checks I have to do is unbelievable.
Ours was perfect!

Sounds like you may need to check your diaper as well. I have a BMW M3 and completely quit driving it when I got the Model Y.
You would expect inventory would flag up there are more bolts left in the draws than is necessary.
I can’t wait till I get this cyber truck because my Ford F150 lightning 2022 has been at the dealership pending repair since early February
Of course it's a Ford.
Try and get parts to repair a Tesla at an approved body shop, if there is even one in the area………6 months later 😢
Lol the bolts twerked wrong
Getting my TMY SR in 10 days. Should I cancel and wait for HW4, or is it expected that HW4 won't come until end of 2023 or later?
@@JetFire9 I can only wait if HW4 is actually right around the corner, but it looks like there is no information about this =/
You could poke through the two lower holes and pop out the airbag, then tighten the bolt (and make sure you have it) with a 10mm Allen key.
Aren't airbags excessively dangerous to mess with?
Thanks
Check for protruding dents on the roof, left/right of the glass 6 months after taking ownership and finding out it’s not under warranty. Good luck.
The reduction to 2 front forward-facing cameras means the total number of camera connections in the unit is 3 (when you take the internal camera into account) which is the same as HW3 'Legacy' S/X. I wonder if this makes the HW4 front camera unit retrofittable on older S/X which had 3 connections for the forward-facing cameras? (Obviously with changes to the port allocations in firmware).
Does anyone know how to check the model Y steering wheel before it falls off while driving?
Don’t jerk on the wheel and it won’t fall off.
Counter point. Try to jerk the wheel to see if it does fall off. It shouldn’t. If it feels super loose then keep jerking until it’s off and report to Tesla
If you say "abracadabra" while waving your harry potter wand over it, it pops right off
Friends don’t let friends jerk without tissues
Don’t forget the other big Cybertruck news was that it would do away with the front bench seat and it would be a 5-seater.
@8:55 _why...?_ Because they have lots of inventory to get through for such an immaterial part. They may take years to get to plastic with only two holes.
Model Y Does My Steering Wheel Fall Off. LOL 🤣😆🤣
9:08 Tesla is building around retrofitting? Do they make it happen with HW4, if not.... invalid ^^
A Nissan ad at the start of a video on the Tesla Model S. That is novel!!!
5:42, What is the name of the red car on the left? The new Model 2??? look at the way the door handle is positioned.
how much $ can i write off because of a loose bolt issue??? hmmmm.
Ultra red looks like Mazda’s “Soul Red” which is to say it looks great.
Just picked up my 2023 Model S Plaid on 3-8-2023. It did come with all of the upgrades that you mentioned plus 2 door dings. One in drivers door and another in the passenger door. Disappointing to see but I do love the car. Having PPF installed now
That sucks. You should definitely report that to Tesla if it was present at delivery. They will fix it free of charge.
This is why Tesla does not improve the built quality of its cars and never will if people accept it. You should refuse the delivery but is your money
@@jjppdr42 After picking up car I drove it directly to have PPF installed and the installer was the one who noticed it. I did let Tesla know about it. Thank you 👍
The Fremont factory is so poor with quality. Don’t understand why they are so lousy. Culture?
@@Harrythehun No, the factory itself is still tooled for building ICE vehicles and retooling an entire factory would mean a shutdown for a lengthy period of time. Why it hasn’t been done is the question but a lot of inventory comes out of that location. If I’m wrong someone please correct me.
I'm surprised they don't offer green as a color option. It's an electric car, you buy it to be eco an reduce CO2 as a result green in my opinion should be an option to showcase that.
The right front dumby camera is for countries with right hand drive they will move the camera from left to right side for the right hand drive countries.
All i can say is good luck keeping up non-tesla's
Tesla Model S Wagon would be epic.
model s really amazes us
When is the New refresh s coming out?
Where’d you get the sweatshirt Ryan 👀
In italy the prices are: model S 115000 euro, and Plaid 141000 euro, model X: 125000, and Plaid 145000 euro, model Y: rwd 47000 euro, LR 54000, Performance 64000, model 3: RWD 41500 euro, LR 53000, Performance 60000 euro
Laurel and Hardy managed to drive just fine while passing the steering wheel back and forth. Tesla can't pull the same trick?
To remove radar system that's a huge mistake. I'm talking from North side of North America such as Canada. I still have radar and sensors in my tesla model 3 2019, but, with new software updates they removed that and not using while autopilot engaged and only used cameras, which is here doesn't work. Because of bad weather conditions, such as snow, heavy rain ect., bad visibility and autopilot or cruise control stop working. They need to work more on that. When i bought a car over 3 years ago, cruise control and autopilot worked great and never let me down, but now got worse. It's just my experience after 230000 km or 130000 miles
NHTSA advices drivers to use The Force to navigate, should their steering wheel pop-off in their hands at high speed on a mountain road.
Finally, a round steering wheel!
Bring in the Electric EVO Mitsubishi!!!
Looks like they added amber indicators to the Model S. I wonder if they're doing that with the Model 3 as well.
New model 3 performance currently have Amber turn signals in the US. Basically just model Y taillights, as they are physically interchangeable.
The removable steering wheel anti-theft beta was a fail.
Just got a Model S Plaid last month for $89,990 wich included round steering wheel and Ulta Red at no extra cost.
Inspector Clouseau also experienced a loose steering wheel --- but he also lost the gear shifter and the brakes 😅
8:53 You misunderstand. Dummy cameras allow you to detect stupid drivers and pedestrians. They have really kept this one quiet!
I am really unsure about these *improvements* on Model S and X.
How much lighter can a glass roof really get, without compromising sound proofing, insulation, and safety? Considering going from a metal to a carbon roof usually saves some 5 to 12 pounds on BMWs and Audis, I‘d expect this to likely be less than that, because they still use the same basic material.
Even if it was 5lbs lighter, I’d highly doubt anyone could measure the „handling differences“ let alone experience them.
I know that it is technically correct, that it lowers center of gravity and should therefore alter handling, but that’s really extremely marginal.
Regarding the brakes. I like that they improved the braking, as these 1000hp vehicles are severely under-braked.
However, I find it potentially problematic that apparently only the brake pads, and thereby only the thermal capacity has been improved. Again, every improvement is welcome, but the Plaids perform pretty poorly with cold brakes, which is also likely the most important thing in real world scenarios.
@@JetFire9 every car reviewer ever, and myself, who have tested the plaid, say the car is under-braked. The brakes feel squishy, the car slides for a very long time from high speeds, and that’s not good at all.
@@LarsRR I've had the MSP for 17 months....Never used the brakes...But I'm old🤣
I would think Ultra Red would be brighter... but it looks slightly darker?
It's deeper.
That’s what she said!
Given that tesla is still making there initial design it's time for a face-lift.
What else makes you sell your 5y old s ?
Re recall... My steering wheel is attached with a nut onto a threaded steering shaft, so I presume Teslas have a bolt from the horn cover through the steering column and attached to a threaded hole further down the column..??🤔
Why are they removing the stalks? I hoped they would at least keep them with the round steering wheel...! Next we will have to pay extra for round WHEELS 🤦♂️
Hahahahahahahahahahah🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Was dying when he mentioned the steering wheels falling off, that's just so comical to me. So funny, 'hi honey could you please hold this for me it seems to have fallen off, aaaaaahhhh!" I'm sure everyone is okay, but they seriously need to fix that mistake, that's really bad.
My question is why a dummy camera? Save some money and put a matte black disc on it
Tesla x Steady Mobbin
when will 2023 M3 get tesla vision
It’s strange that the model S and X are significantly more expensive but the tech (which is what most of us enjoy about this brand) lags behind the 3 and Y.
Me watching that in model 3 and pulling the wheel out
New update: glass while being lighter are more likely to crack
To be fair the 3 and Y are slowly killing off rage S an the X because at the price point of the later there is far better options. Example I’d take a 3 or Y but would spend on a S or X. If I was going to spend £100k for a EV then the Porsche Taycan would be my weapon of choice every day of the week the quality difference and luxury between it and Tesla is light years apart.
Tesla looks just getting started for a next level move. Tesla “We pay X for something through Y company” Tesla “ We just buy Y company and now get it at cost” 😁
You being stupid enough to drop 200k plus on a car that has its specs blown away by a 100k car makes no difference on reality.
We want red brembos on all models.!! I don’t even know which model has them anymore since I heard they removed them from the performance and put fake red covers
they should make a Ultra Blue color
8:50) a "dummy" camera monitors dummies during crash testing
Just traded in my 2021 Plaid for the new 2023 Plaid with red calipers. These brakes are much better than the previous ones. You do feel thee car actually breaking under control. Ah also ordered a regular wheel and I love it. I do not miss the Yoke at all even when initially I loved it!
my 2022 model S yoke has been replaced for peeling. my 2nd yoke is starting to peel in the same place. the vegan leather doesn't seem as durable and should be replaced with a better material for the model S yoke this does seem to be a defective issue with all the complaints on social media for the same issue.
5:26 The thing is those stupid yoke steering wheel is the reason why the some countries like the UK 🇬🇧 and other parts of Europe aren't allowing this car and also heard its caused accidents so its not that he's showing it for the sake of the Tesla Model S existence, he has to follow rules and road laws as for us people in the UK it will be classified as unfit because of the steering wheel but now there's a traditional 😉 steering wheel maybe I will get one afterwards but I wanna see from peoples perspective if they can hold up long like my BMW MINI Countryman.
Renault is pronounced ren-no. Most French words slur out the last syllables.
Looks like I’m never going to buy a Tesla mistakes like this should never happen
Cybertruck was supposed to have a 6.5 ft bed. Based on those numbers, it is just about 6 ft. For me, that's a deal breaker.
thanks for the update on the steering wheels, missing bolts, could be worse I suppose, not a design issue, bad hiring of assembling workers
Err... No. Its a process design error. A shitty worker cant be blamed for a life threatening defect like this. Otherwise it would happen all the time with other makes. It doesnt.

Crazy how Mitsubishi is just announcing EVs when they were one of the first that came out with an electric car, the iMiEV in 2010. That was just 2 years after Tesla came out with their first vehicle, the roadster. Seems like Mitsubishi kind of dropped the ball when they could have been the first to mass produce a car for everyday people.
