Been watching your videos quite a bit of late as we are considering switching to EVs (incl Teslas). It is clear you know a lot about Teslas. Would be great if you could also make a video about the pros / cons of buying Tesla new versus used. Traditionally, used cars can save money and be a better value than new but it is unclear how Tesla treats used cars that were not purchased through Tesla but through 3rd party dealerships - some folks claim that if a used Tesla was purchased through a 3rd party dealership, the car may not get software updates? Would be great if you could make a video on this topic with all the nuances of buying used Teslas (or maybe point me if you might already have a video on the topic 🙂) . Thanks for conisderation Great video - keep up the good work 👍
I recently got a base Model 3 RWD. I think it’s awesome and all you need for most people. Plenty of room inside. Feature packed. Handles well. Very quick and sporty.
Yeah, and for me the 272 miles of range, I've never had an issue with it. We use it as a commuter car and driving around town and a bit of highway and never once have we used more than 30-40% of the charge in a single day. We can usually forget to charge it for a whole week and it'll be fine on range, but I just plug it in every night or every other night because I like having a "full tank" every single day. I think for the price, and the fact you can charge to 100% (compared to the long range Models that you should only charge up to 80-85% on a regular basis means that you'll get effectively the same daily range of the long range model 3 for example), makes this a super compelling option. If you road trip a LOT then it might be worth the upgrade, but if you only go long distances maybe 2 or 3 times a year like I do, I'll take the ~$10k in savings and just charge one or two extra times on a trip one or two times a year.
@@quintonstevens Same for me i can get 425km out of my Model 3 RWD with LFP(2022 model) its about your same range in miles. It's super efficient and cheap to charge because it does not have a large battery. If there is one thing i would change? I would say, it would be nice if it was a Hatchback. Other than that. No complains. I was afraid the non-premium audio would sound bad. Wanted to upgrade it, but now i have listened to it.. im too lazy to actually change the audio as it is far better than i expected. I'm happy with it so i just leave it how it is. The HVAC is amazing, it's heated super fast or cooled super fast. Very good climate control, best i ever have seen in any car.
I just picked up my 2023 RWD. Great car. If you don’t absolutely have to have AWD - which MOST people don’t, even in many winter states (I’m Midwest) - this is the car to buy. If you can take advantage of the tax credit, this car reaches into the upper 30s, and that’s not half bad. The car has been super efficient for me @ 215wh/mile, mostly highway at 70-75mph. That’s pretty damn good. It’s comfy, fairly quiet, and just a smooth ride. I thought the range would be worrisome but it’s not at all. I can get to and from work downtown (from the burbs) at least three days, plus soccer practice for the nuggets. Waaay more than I need. For anyone hesitating on the RWD, don’t. Plenty of power, handles great in the snow, and is cheap relative to the other models.
I live in Northwest Indiana and work downtown Chicago. I wondered how well the rear wheel drive did in the snow. I don't need long range. I have a plug in prius and get to work from spring to fall using no gas if I don't detour.
Great video. I recently purchased a white-on-white Model 3 RWD after renting a Model 3 Performance for a week, which was my first experience in an EV. I test drove the RWD and realized it has all the power I need, I could save $11K, get the $7500 tax credit, and have the advantages of an LFP battery.
Top video. Relaxed delivery, 100% to the point with fair and frank analysis. You are truly one of the best out there for this kind of thing Ryan. Long may it continue.
Hi Ryan - Thanks for the video. I have a late 2022 RWD Model 3 and I love it. It is easily the best car I have ever owned. One thing I don't think you mentioned is how economical it is to own. Charging the car at home with cheap night rates saves me a lot of money compared to buying petrol (gas). Also servicing costs are minimal. Previously the franchise dealer system used by ICE manufacturers was a rip off when it came to servicing the car. Also when it comes to buying the Tesla there is no haggling over the price, which I didn't like doing with franchise dealers.
Yeah, I've had my car for almost 6 months now and have just had to add windshield wiper fluid once...LOL. Wiper fluid and tires, pretty much the only maintenance these things ever need. Almost anything else is gonna be a warranty item, and Tesla has a solid warranty.
@@quintonstevens You have more, you have interior air filter to be replaced. (you can do that yourself, you can order the part with manual from tesla) and The wipers themselves offcoarse need to be replaced. This can also be ordered from Tesla and easily be done by yourself. Yes wiper fluid also can be done by yourself. The only thing you need to go to some garage is the tires.
13:05, the windshield wipers started to wipe your windshield when there wasn't any rain. You car does the same thing as my Model X when the wipers are set to "auto" mode. LOL They work when there is no rain.
Great basic tour. I'm on my second Model 3 lease and will never go back. Just moved to variable-rate electricity so will have to look up delayed charging - thanks for reminding us you can do that.
@@deej628 Personal. I was concerned that it would be limited by installed hardware (see Ryan's comments about possible slower response) and I like to try the latest versions (we only have one car so what the hell).
It's easy to set charge start time using the Tesla app. Set it and forget it. It will start charging at the same time whenever plugged in. Our local utility has "charging events" where they are enabled to start your charge time via your internet connected EVSE, and give $25 seasonal credits on your electric bill.
Great video as always. I’m waiting for the release of the refreshed model 3 later this year. I keep notification on for your videos because I know you’ll have the best information as more is released to the public. Thank you!
I just got the parking update. It works ok as long as it's not raining. It rained yesterday and the parking assist was having a panic attack and I wasn't even moving yet. When it stopped raining it seemed to work pretty good.
I got the 2023.6.9 update for vision park assist a couple days ago. It works better than I thought it would, but I would trust ultrasonic sensors more.
It's better than no assistance, and I'm treating it as a second set of eyes provided by the car itself. I'm the main driver and parker but the cars eyes will help if I miss something. I'll learn its foibles and my guess is that it will be refined with updates.
I honestly don't think it's bad. The more vehicles test it, the faster it will be improved. Personally, I prefer to have an m3P without sensors than with one. The USS technology is already 30 years old and it still has its weaknesses that could never be completely eradicated. So I think the Tesla Vision solution will get a lot better over time.
@@AcidGubba Tesla vision strong points are side detection, it's weakness is that there is no front camera in the bumper. Hopefully updates will make things a lot better. Also the damn wipers.
Got my model 3 RWD 60kWh four months ago here in Norway, and have to say it is the best car I've ever had. It really is a technological marvel; sooo smoothly working and driving! No hangs or glitches; everything just work excactly like you would want it to instinctively. And 300 horsepower is twice what I've ever had before, so really MORE than enough for me! Pressing the pedal to the metal things happen so fast I just know there's no point for me to get the performance version.
Ryan, super well done. This type of overview has been needed for a long time by someone. I will refer non EV friends to it. $15,000 for FSD is a ton. It would be good to add a mention of the $199 FSD subscription, and that it can be turned on and off by the month. I plan on getting it for the summer for a couple of long road trips.
I would honestly try using just autopilot because road trips are mostly highway which is what autopilot was made for. FSD is more for driving in town I think. I've considered activating a month of the FSD to play and have fun letting it drive around for me, and maybe specifically testing the enhanced autopilot features like auto lane change on highway and auto park because I might be interested in the $6,000 package now that parking features are enabled again with Tesla Vision-only cars like mine
Excellent video, as always. Glad to see I’m not the only one with road rash on my 2017 Model 3 long range. My only regret is paying for the Full Self Driving so many years in advance, but otherwise ❤ my car, and your channel!
You will be glad you did when full autonomy is working, your car will instantly be double its value. You do know were you to sell the car the current price of self-driving high is way higher adds on right? You would be wise to hang onto that car as long as you possibly can.
You'll get there sooner than you know bro 💯 believing it for you

16:55 Strange. I've test-driven a model Y that was in German, and in my broken German I've ordered a song, and it started instantly, without me touching anything else.
One question about Autopilot: does it improve as the car is broken in? I test drove my 95 year old uncle's new Tesla Model 3 the day after he bought it (yes he was 95 when he bought his first electric car - part of his bucket list). The problem I had was that the car phantom braked 4 times over the first 10 blocks that I drove the car in very light traffic; and worst of all, it panic stopped with alarms sounding when an 18 wheeler was approaching the other way on a wide and otherwise untraveled highway. This was SO disconcerting that I immediately cancelled the Autopilot and drove the car manually home. This phantom braking issue has been the chief reason I have paused considering a Tesla Model 3 (though at 6 feet 3 inches with a long torso, I was actually considering a Model Y). I do use my adaptive cruise control on my six year old Subaru, for I feel even in city traffic, it reduces the chance of rear-ending someone or blowing past the speed limit.
By far the adaptive cruise control is the best I believe in the market. A lot of adaptive cruise control only does hwy not stops and it works really well
We liked the practicality of the MY, but prefer the M3 in most other respects: better handling and slighly better ride, lighter and more aerodynamic so better range and performance, better looks and more compact so more practical for narrow lanes and towns. The higher body needs a 2.8 inch wider track and wheels but the interior is the same width as the M3.
Ryan, I like your presence better in this style of presentation in contrast to the studio teleprompter mode (not bad, just not as spontaneous as today's delivery). In your "room for improvement" with the Tesla: 1) Add \ and | (pipe character) to the on-screen keyboard. My primary Wi-Fi passcode has both of them, so can't connect the Tesla to that network. 2) Certain audio functions should initiate a pause command to any playing audio, such as listening to an audiobook over Bluetooth. When I get a text and press to have it read, it ends up reading right over the top of the playing audiobook. Shouldn't do that. 3) The text-message reading function should do so *without* reading all the header info for the message. Don't need to hear it. 4) If Auto-pilot is engaged and the driver engages the turn signal, the autopilot should disengage, and after the turn signal is turned off, auto-pilot should re-engage. 5) The Tesla can auto-turn on navigation based on a location in an event in my schedule... but that option also turns on navigation to work (beginning fo the day) and to home (end of the day). I already know how to get to both places, so would like the option to turn off auto-navigation for selected locations. 6) Addition to #5... include the same option that Google Maps on my phone has... can set it to only announce alerts on a trip, instead of all the turn-by-turn instructions. Since I know how to get to work, I don't need to hear that, but would be nice to hear about traffic issues, hazards, or possible speed traps.
There were a car tester who complained that . That sound signal every time he have to change lanes. He said that disturbed him when he was listening to the car stereo Thus activate deactivate Auto pilot to change line
You have a great channel. I bought a M3LR in January and adjusted to its features rather quickly. The one thing that I wish they would offer is a button on the steering wheel that would answer a phone call while your driving as opposed to reaching for the screen and press the green handset icon. That is a missing feature that is offered on all other cars.
I have a 2021. Don't have radar but do have ultrasonic sensors. Have the automatic hatch, the matrix headlights, and the auto dimming mirrors. And while my car didn't come with a lithium 12V battery, I have taken care of that myself with the Ohmmu battery. The auto wipers on mine have always worked flawlessly. I have never once had to use the screen icons for wipers. I also only have basic autopilot, and the only time I use voice commands is for navigation. My car is a bit newer than this one, so I'm pretty sure I have the better suspension...I definitely have the double paned windows. With regen, the only time I've ever seen it almost completely disabled is when the battery is >95%. Below 95% you get full regen. When the temperature is below 60 degrees or so you get about 75% of normal regen, so when it's colder you do have to allow a bit of additional time to stop if you don't ever want to have to use the brake.
Loved this video, I would really love to see SiriusXM radio on Teslas and more physical buttons but the route planning and supercharger stations far out weight the lack of the radio.
I wish Tesla quality control and service was better. After taking a delivery of my brand new Tesla Model 3 RWD a month ago, I've already been 4 times to the service center to fix defects, and also fix what their service breaks while fixing other stuff... I'm thinking about lemon lawing a car now.
I took a long trip in the summer. It was always over optimistic. I took a trip in the winter and it was pessimistic. Which I found interesting. The trips were 6 months apart. The temps were in the 80's in the summer and was around freezing for the winter trip.
Thank you Ryan. As always - very thorough review. I am still scratching my head whether to move from ICE to hybrid or go cold Turkey. In UK, touching screen is not allowed while driving, even at the signal. I wonder how my fellow Brits are finding just voice control while driving?
I don’t know your specific use case, but a used BMW i3 with the optional range extender might be worth a look, as it is one of the few plug-in vehicles with fast charging as well as a range extender. (The others are either SUVs, expensive, or JDM vehicles).
i have a 2023 version of this car but it does not have the 'regen faking it braking' you mentioned which is a real shame as that sounds like an amazing feature Why would they have removed that?
I completely agree with the model 3 being the most fun Tesla to run around town. Our X is nicer on a trip but our 3 LR just fits better and handles quicker. The only thing I miss in the 3 is the driver display. That frees up the Xs larger center display for the map and functions.
So I got a 2023 M3 RWD, now I was told that the RWD don't have fog lights, but when I look front of my M3 i sure does look like it does especial when you look closer to there the fog light sit, I wonder if the fog light on the M3 is just software blocked like so many other things on the M3
Great explanation as always. Having to use the center screen to control most vehicle functionality is okay for me, except the buried access for seat heaters, and the troublesome wiper controls. At least on the Model 3 and Y, access to the Autopilot and gear directional controls are still on the stalk and not relegated to AI or to a yoke with non-standard touch controls. I dread the day when Musk decides that all cars must do all the thinking for you, including the direction you might pull out of a parking space and being forced to obey Hal, the computer, for all driving thought processes.
I really wish the three had a hatchback. I have a 2019. I could have waited for the Y but wanted the 3. I really don’t care about the glass roof. It makes the temp hard to control. And don’t even think about FSD. I paid 5k and I still feel like it was a rip.
I just got an Otrifowd roof glass retractable shade for my Y. $450 with GJeebs discount code (GJeebs). It was a pain to install (don't fall for the nice pictures of the young Asian girl with manicured nails installing the thing) but I was able to do it using two slightly longer screws I bought from the hardware store so I could see the holes in the headliner clips the frame screws into. The sun shade and ceramic window tint make a huge difference on the interior temp of the car and therefore increases my range. I recommend. Hope this helps.
At 7:15. I have this car. Continental Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS tire design has the rubber extend out over the edge of the wheel a little, protecting the wheel more than the stock tires. However, I don’t think they are as quiet as the stock tires.
I know you didn't ask me. But I learned the hard way to not try and wait for things in the Tesla space to come to fruition. It will happen, but late. I'm of the mindset where, if you like what exists now, get it. Then you can trade or something when the time comes. I sold my Model 3 when CT was announced because they said 1 year. Ended up buying a Y a few months later because of delays. Almost waited on the Y because they said tax credit might be coming (Sept 21) we can see how long that took.
@@ozone7 If it's -30°C in the car when I get in, I definitely would. Even if the heater in the steering wheel warms up quickly, the air temp is still too cold. I don't think I would be taking my mitts off until the air temp reaches at least 12°C. Even if the steering wheel is hot before that.
@@netgnostic1627 Sure! But again: this car gets warm in two minutes, AND it can be controlled from your phone from where ever you are in the world! So if you start the heating ten minutes before you plan to drive, it should be warm enough for you in shorts and T-shirt with minus thirty outside.
You will always want the newest and the best. I own a 2023 Y and already feel like whatever, but have always own nice cars. I’m grateful but is All personal perspective
Soften your ride by getting 1 or 2-inch less-diameter rims & get tires with ~.5” or ~1” taller sidewalls & a rounder oval. If you never drive over 90 mph (~145 kph), reducing the speed rating a notch or two may also give you a better ride. Tesla’s super-low profile tires are a fad, purely cosmetic, pricier, and may wear out sooner. Also, since they have hardly any sidewall, rim-scraping is inevitable (rim’s close to the ground w/ no sidewall bulge to protect it). You’ll get a better ride at lower cost.
For me, voice commands take more effort than pushing a button. And I would rather have a button or stalk than use the big screen. I also despise all things apple. Does it work with Android phones?
Those couple "tiny" differences between the base and the LR/Performance are the premium audio and (most importantly) a much faster supercharging speed. The base caps out at ~170KW, and the others go up to 250KW. If you are planning to road trip a lot, it's something to keep in mind - not only is the range longer on the more expensive models so you will have fewer stops, but the stops themselves will be shorter.
LFP charges slower than NCA below 30%, same speed between 30-70% and faster from 70-100%. Please don't spread false charging speed info. There is advantages and disadvantages between 2 battery chemistry. I recommend watching the limiting factor for more information on LFP.
@@MrQuay03 It has nothing to do with the battery chemistry. The base Model 3/Y have slower charging speeds (32A at home, 170KW DC vs 48A/250KW on the LR and Performance) due to having different charging hardware. They have been this way since the launch of the Model 3, long before the LFP battery was implemented. Please don't post responses about things that you aren't fully informed on.
@@jaturnley as I said, NCA charges faster at low battery, it will charge the same rate at 50% ish and above 70%, LFP will charge faster. If you do the charge test to 100%, LFP will be the same or faster.
@@MrQuay03 OK, but since the most efficient way to charge NCA is to only charge to 60-80%, who cares about the fact that the LFP can charge faster during the portion of the charge cycle that the NCA car doesn't actually participate in when on a road trip? It's like saying the horse in last place eventually gets faster than all the others once they have already finished the race - even if it's true, it's moot. None of this changes my point - the slower peak charge rate of the base Model 3 means you will be spending more time at each charge stop. Whether you are charging the base model 3 to full or only partially, it's still going to take longer either way than an LR or Performance will that's only charging to the recommended 80%.
I really don’t understand why the auto steer does not re engage automatically once you are in the new lane when you manually change lane by indicating. Most other cars with auto steer do that. It is incredibly frustrating to have to manually re engage autopilot every time you change lane and it is the only reason why I bought the enhanced autopilot package (3700$ here in Europe).
Since picking up my Model Y last November, the only frustration is the lack of shuffle for my large playlists in Tidal. I can't wait until that's fixed, hopefully soon. Everything else is fantastic and A+!
I found that the shuffle button is hidden in the small audio card on the left side of the screen. If you swipe up there should be a hidden shuffle button (i found it for Spotify after tooling around in my new m3 since it’s as different on my 21 M3
@@Wasssup3232 No shuffle button for Tidal on my MY. I don't want to switch from Tidal since the quality of music streams is far and above other services and I'm a veteran and they have great discounts for veterans.
Question for the enhance autopilot and FSD: If I opt out of both when I buy a Tesla, can I still pay $6000 or $12000 respectively later? Or am I only able to do the monthly subscriptions?
A lot of space. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca’s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this.)
@Ryan - such an informative video, thanks - I’ve subscribed to your channel for some years now but yesterday I was finally able to get behind the wheels of a ‘Rear-Wheel Drive’ Model 3 and a ‘Dual Motor Long Range’ Model Y, test drives courtesy of my local Tesla store here in the UK. Both cars were so much fun to drive, even in the pouring rain, but I found several unexpected aspects which I haven’t noticed you’ve mentioned before: 1- There is no speed limiter, common on many other cars, where the driver sets a maximum speed (or it is auto detected from speed limit signs) - confusingly, in ‘Traffic-Aware Cruise Control’ the set speed is prefixed with MAX but that means the speed is limited by software rather than the driver but is adaptive to the speed of vehicle in front - more towns and cities in the UK now have 20 mph safety zones so I regularly use LIM in our ICE car but is seems Teslas only have ‘Speed Assist’ which chimes rather than limits - this would surely be a great safety feature in include in a future download 2- One pedal driving, with auto-regen, is permanent - as many have already commented I can appreciate this is the ‘only way’ from a driver’s perspective - but I wonder how comfortable it is for passengers? Perhaps another useful feature would be to display an optional ‘smooth driver’ rating (for passenger convenience) so that gentle release of the accelerator can be measured and improved objectively? I noted there is a ‘Comfort’ setting but I think that is mainly to dial back rate of acceleration? 3- The demo cars showed live traffic but I hadn’t realised that is only available with the ‘Premium Connectivity’ option costing $/£9.99 pm 4- An audible/on-screen warning to tell the driver/front passenger they’ve left their phone(s) on the charger pad when opening their respective doors would be handy - you guessed it, I left mine on the charger - the sales advisor, who managed to collect my phone from the car before the next demo started, said this often happened! In case you want to know which I preferred: the Model Y was certainly so practical and super-powerful but I actually found the Model 3 more fun to drive. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next one 😊.
I’m surprised Ryan didn’t mention this. The audio system in the RWD Model is the only let down. It’s not bad. It is just “OK”. The “premium audio” in the LR and performance models adds a subwoofer and additional speakers that are missing in the RWD. With that said, I agree 100% that this version is the best value - it is super fun to drive, and will check all the boxes for most people.
What a splendid (re)review of the Model 3 👍 You said the display shows what gear you're in? But, there is only 1 gear, right? Maybe you meant Reverse, Drive, Neutral, Park?
I think generally the systems and controls are well designed. But I miss setting a maximum speed without using cruise control or autopilot. The blind spot cameras are easier to glance at than the mirrors, but on my new M3 LR they are low definition and quite dark. The new vision park assist is a useful second pair of eyes but not yet as good as USS.
@@leetjohnson I mean like the system on my 2012 Leaf where I just flick a switch to stop me exceeding a particular speed. My Tesla M3 only does that with cruise control, or I can set it to give an annoying chime.
Let's be clear, these systems are not essential. I like to drive, i.e. me being the one in control of the car, but sometimes it's just handy to have gadgets available to minimise speed fines, but it's my responsibility. Can I also be clear about the Tesla Model 3 (and the Y) - the car is an engineering masterpiece. It's the best car I've ever owned and the first time I could say there is no other car I'd rather have, given the driving experience, practicality, range, efficiency, charging network and relative value (though still stupidly expensive). Amazing that a company that started little more than a decade ago could achieve this is amazing.
I found that on my 23 RWD the side repeater cameras are really clear at night time, i saw that the camera module on mine has that red tinge that the newer cameras are getting. Either that or I’m color blind!😂 but the cameras definitely seem very clear
This review was really great and comprehensive. You did a good job talking about most if not all the features and the nit picks of each one. It's really helped me in deciding what EV i want. The model 3 is sort of just within budget, or Id just get a hybrid, i think you convinced me just enough to get a model 3.
I follow you regularly. Cyertruck production is slated for this year. Any inside information regarding how many trucks can be produced per month once things get rolling??

Thanks for conisderation
Great video - keep up the good work 👍
Tidal not having shuffle was a deal breaker for me so I’m back to Spotify
I recently got a base Model 3 RWD. I think it’s awesome and all you need for most people. Plenty of room inside. Feature packed. Handles well. Very quick and sporty.
Got my base RWD model 3 last month...love it.
Is it the standard range or the standard range plus?
@@drakkarc558 no more plus. It’s RWD for standard range
I was 2 minutes into my first drive of our model Y and realized that one foot driving is the way.
This is the way
This is the way
There is no other way
@@jeffhoward5304 there is another way, but it's wrong.

@@mostmost1I had two choices, Prius or Tesla. I choice Tesla but Prius is one of the most underrated cars ever.
Do you fill like it’s underpowered 0-30? I feel like that 0-30 is more important than 0-60.
Hey man im thinking about doing the same exact thing..
Question, how much is your insurance? I've heard it's like $250+ a month
Great video I’ve had my model 3 2022 RWD for half a year now and had 0 problems so far it’s very reliable and has saved me a lot of time and money
Insurance a killer tho, especially in the city
13:05, the windshield wipers started to wipe your windshield when there wasn't any rain. You car does the same thing as my Model X when the wipers are set to "auto" mode. LOL They work when there is no rain.
Great basic tour. I'm on my second Model 3 lease and will never go back. Just moved to variable-rate electricity so will have to look up delayed charging - thanks for reminding us you can do that.
Leading as a business or personal? If personal what were your reasons behind it since you have to turn it in at the end? Thanks!

It's crazy how good the wheels look without the hubs just grt some caps for the lugs and it totally changes the look wow didn't know that
One change since the 2021 M3 is they updated the processor and have changed out the 12v battery
I don’t like how it works when you’re at a stop light. All the chimes when you start to accelerate with cars on all sides is annoying.
Thanks Ryan, great review very helpful, just ordered a M3 four days ago.
The most brilliant video i've seen for a long time.Incredibly simple and practical no nonsense delivery of information about the TM3 RWD
Never been this early, keep up the great videos! You got me hooked and it is now a life goal to own a Tesla😭
You'll get there sooner than you know bro 💯 believing it for you
16:55 Strange. I've test-driven a model Y that was in German, and in my broken German I've ordered a song, and it started instantly, without me touching anything else.
I can’t believe how thorough yet concise this was. Great video!
I just got an M3 a few weeks ago and had this same question. It's NY taxi aggressive with tailgating and breaking. Does it ever improve?
I bought a bolt EV and have buyers regret... Wish I had gotten the 3 or y instead. Storage space in the bolt is abysmal.
I have a 2023 base RWD and it's badass! It's the best $40k vehicle on the planet 100%. By far the best car I've ever owned.
I just use the voice commands for everything... it works great, and no having to touch the screen much.
the title suggested 'Don't make mistake'. I don't know what mistake I could avoid even after I watched this video.
Best Video for a new buyer I’ve seen. As a non Tesla owner I have learnt a lot👍
Been following you for years now and this was the most informative video yet. Really liked the deep dive into how the interface works.
Ryan, I like your presence better in this style of presentation in contrast to the studio teleprompter mode (not bad, just not as spontaneous as today's delivery).
In your "room for improvement" with the Tesla:
1) Add \ and | (pipe character) to the on-screen keyboard.
He said that disturbed him when he was listening to the car stereo
Thus activate deactivate Auto pilot to change line
You have a great channel. I bought a M3LR in January and adjusted to its features rather quickly. The one thing that I wish they would offer is a button on the steering wheel that would answer a phone call while your driving as opposed to reaching for the screen and press the green handset icon. That is a missing feature that is offered on all other cars.
Clicking to the right on the left scroll wheel will answer the call.
Have you done a video on voice commands? I find it pretty cool to turn on(and up and down) the wipers and defrost, etc.
Appreciate the work you put into your channel Mr. Shaw. High quality at all times.
I like how the wipers are just going off on a sunny day lmao
You schedule your charge bc it's cheap and it's balancing demand in the grid
Thank you Ryan. As always - very thorough review. I am still scratching my head whether to move from ICE to hybrid or go cold Turkey. In UK, touching screen is not allowed while driving, even at the signal. I wonder how my fellow Brits are finding just voice control while driving?
I don’t know your specific use case, but a used BMW i3 with the optional range extender might be worth a look, as it is one of the few plug-in vehicles with fast charging as well as a range extender. (The others are either SUVs, expensive, or JDM vehicles).
Ryan is bulking!!! Love the vids!
i have a 2023 version of this car but it does not have the 'regen faking it braking' you mentioned which is a real shame as that sounds like an amazing feature Why would they have removed that?
I purchased online 2 gas struts for the frunk a year or 2 ago for about $20 and they work great and open instantly!! cheap
What’s Your opinion on waiting until after the Highland project comes out. I appreciate Your very informative videos !
With truth in all caps how could this video be anything but a must watch?
In cold winter weather, I'm always wearing gloves or mitts. Could I adjust the heater controls without taking them off?
Why would you wear gloves in any Tesla? There's heat in the stearing wheel that can be turned up higher than my fingers can take!
Wow, what a great video. One question, that A pillar looks quite large, does it block your view more compared to most other vehicles?
Nope, not at all.
What I want to know is that will there be a price increase when Hardware 4 is included in the 3 or Y.
You will always want the newest and the best. I own a 2023 Y and already feel like whatever, but have always own nice cars. I’m grateful but is All personal perspective
No telling, but if there is I’d say only a slight to minimal increase. If you can afford one now you’d be able to afford one with HW4
Bravo. Mr. Shaw. I wish you 10x your biggest dreams. You videos are masterpiece level. This one was Michelangelo!
Bro this is a good informational video , im buying a tesla next month and this is the video ive been looking for, thank you!
For me, voice commands take more effort than pushing a button. And I would rather have a button or stalk than use the big screen. I also despise all things apple. Does it work with Android phones?
I use rectangle wide angle mirrors I hope they will fit on the rear view mirrors
Ryan. I understand that Tesla voice commands can take care of most non-driving functions which will save using the touch screen.
@@jaturnleyLFP batteries dont suffer as much fully charging to 100%.

One thing I've never heard mentioned, but wouldn't auto pilot help to make the screen use easier while driving?
Yes it makes it a lot easier just gotta be safe
I really don’t understand why the auto steer does not re engage automatically once you are in the new lane when you manually change lane by indicating. Most other cars with auto steer do that.
It is incredibly frustrating to have to manually re engage autopilot every time you change lane and it is the only reason why I bought the enhanced autopilot package (3700$ here in Europe).
You spent $3,700 to not have to double click the stalk? Daaang
I don't want to switch from Tidal since the quality of music streams is far and above other services and I'm a veteran and they have great discounts for veterans.

you can buy that anytime.

There are manual handles just above the window switches.
A perfect car if you just drive place to place. Or just to work. Low consumption and sporty ride. But for me i need a awd for Nordic country.
Both cars were so much fun to drive, even in the pouring rain, but I found several unexpected aspects which I haven’t noticed you’ve mentioned before:
1- There is no speed limiter, common on many other cars, where the driver sets a maximum speed (or it is auto detected from speed limit signs) - confusingly, in ‘Traffic-Aware Cruise Control’ the set speed is prefixed with MAX but that means the speed is limited by software rather than the driver but is adaptive to the speed of vehicle in front - more towns and cities in the UK now have 20 mph safety zones so I regularly use LIM in our ICE car but is seems Teslas only have ‘Speed Assist’ which chimes rather than limits - this would surely be a great safety feature in include in a future download
2- One pedal driving, with auto-regen, is permanent - as many have already commented I can appreciate this is the ‘only way’ from a driver’s perspective - but I wonder how comfortable it is for passengers? Perhaps another useful feature would be to display an optional ‘smooth driver’ rating (for passenger convenience) so that gentle release of the accelerator can be measured and improved objectively? I noted there is a ‘Comfort’ setting but I think that is mainly to dial back rate of acceleration?
3- The demo cars showed live traffic but I hadn’t realised that is only available with the ‘Premium Connectivity’ option costing $/£9.99 pm
4- An audible/on-screen warning to tell the driver/front passenger they’ve left their phone(s) on the charger pad when opening their respective doors would be handy - you guessed it, I left mine on the charger - the sales advisor, who managed to collect my phone from the car before the next demo started, said this often happened!
In case you want to know which I preferred: the Model Y was certainly so practical and super-powerful but I actually found the Model 3 more fun to drive.
Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next one 😊.
Is RWD ok for Toronto weather? My worries is that driving in snow might be challenging... Anyone have any insights?

I’m surprised Ryan didn’t mention this. The audio system in the RWD Model is the only let down. It’s not bad. It is just “OK”.
The “premium audio” in the LR and performance models adds a subwoofer and additional speakers that are missing in the RWD.
With that said, I agree 100% that this version is the best value - it is super fun to drive, and will check all the boxes for most people.
You can buy upgrade to sound system at point of purchase. $1k
Great video on the essentials. Haven't made the switch yet, but getting close.
What a splendid (re)review of the Model 3 👍 You said the display shows what gear you're in? But, there is only 1 gear, right? Maybe you meant Reverse, Drive, Neutral, Park?
I might get enhanced autopilot just for the auto-lane change - its a great feature.
Great review! Also small world, I grew up living in the oaks right there off Garey
This review was really great and comprehensive. You did a good job talking about most if not all the features and the nit picks of each one. It's really helped me in deciding what EV i want. The model 3 is sort of just within budget, or Id just get a hybrid, i think you convinced me just enough to get a model 3.
So did you bought it?
Very informative video. Thank you.
Great video!
thanks Ryan!
Can you swap the steering wheel controls in software? IE. have the music controls on the right?
Absolutely love our 2022 Model 3 RWD
Is this the standard range that was $35k or the standard range plus?
I follow you regularly. Cyertruck production is slated for this year. Any inside information regarding how many trucks can be produced per month once things get rolling??
