They had to. With slowing sales and the upcoming ev tax credit coming to an end for Tesla buyers, as well as the company reaching it’s ZEV credit limit, Tesla had to do something to bolster sales for end of year numbers. So as to keep Tesla stock owners happy and to keep them buying stock
they eliminated many features....like fog lights....stalks right and left... the rear stop lights may be half the cost of the old ones, etc I just purchased a Model 3 2023 in January, I may buy another one when the new one arrives here in the USA they will reduce the price even more... a 2023 Model 3 purchased at the end of its life will be an AMAIZING DEAL..I paid $43,990 in January today October 17 is selling at $38,990 ($5,000) less OUCH! I fell really bad for people who bought their model at in 2022 OOOOOUUUUUCCCHHHH! I think it was as high as $46,990!!
It´s one of those "most people do it and it´s actually neat" things. But then again, I do have Android Auto in my current car and I very rarely really use it. And as you said: the integrated system in Teslas mostly nullifies the "disadvantage" of not having Android Auto and or Car Play.
Really great car, I think the one thing that needs changing (at least for Europe and Asia) is the stalks. It’s just impractical having them removed and it’s just really Tesla finding a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Overall, it’s an incredible car, but I think the Model Y refresh next year will be even better!
I don’t like it either, however, they removed the stalks to reduce the cost of the car for the consumer, that’s how this refresh is cheaper than the previous version. Also, autonomous smart functions, like the car knowing if you need to reverse or drive forward, can reduce the amount that you need to interact with the car. A similar feature that automatically indicates for you could be available in a software update. There is also FSD, while in beta atm, within the 20+ years lifespan of the car, will be available and reduce the need to interact with the car even more.
Yeah, Tesla has a lot of dumb ideas. This car is still not right for me, even though it looks way better. The Model S is the closest to a car that I'd want (hatchback, air suspension, roomier, gauges behind the steering wheel, etc), but it's too expensive for my budget.
Rory's take on the indicator buttons is 100% right. It's not safe cuz once you turn those wheels , you loose focus on the road just to find the right button.
@@pofiPenguin But how are you supposed to keep your hands at ten to two? On a tight corner you simply can't keep hold of the steering wheel. The lack of stalks is idiotic
@@pofiPenguinNo. First of all this is not possible and second safety relevant systems should not „move“ around. It‘s just stupid and dangerous. It‘s improves nothing for the driver. Just makes it worse
@@sim2951 The negative comments refer to indicating before exit from a roundabout where the steering wheel won't be in the normal position. It could happen in other circumstances too, e.g. indicating on a tight corner, but this is the main problem.
No, that's not true, I'd rather have any, ANY German EV than a Tesla, why ? Buttons, quality materials, 360 view, option for NO PANO roof (Yes I don't like those), better build quality by few miles, Better SERVICE, an actual DASHBOARD...to name a few.
@@colonelccccc Service is not better. I own BMWs/Porsches/Audis etc but their service all suck at multiple dealerships. Also Tesla doesn't require service so you can't really compare the two...
Rory, has a very pleasant and professional mannerism about him that makes me want to watch his reviews. I can't say that about many others. Kudos to AutoTrader.
I'm pretty sure you could just say "open charge port" to open the charge point. Also clocking in the button of a Tesla charge plug will open a charge port if the plug is close to the port. Or, you could also just tap on the port's door if the car is unlocked.
Yeah I think Rory's the childish one in this case. While you can say that, you certainly don't have to so his comment was disingenious. I also think hte fart button is hilarious but I don't need to use it if I don't want to. Options are good! Otherwise a pretty good overall review.
Biggest disappointment is with trying to integrate the turn signals and gear shifter onto the wheel. Legit probably the main reason I wouldn't get the new model 3 unless they revert that change. Other than that, car seem like an overall upgrade.
I am glad to see the addition of heated & ventilated seats. I wasn’t expecting the ambient lighting- it definitely helps. However, I still feel these cars would be better with manual physical controls for the mirrors and steering wheel adjustment.
A slightly odd question... but why? It's something you only need to do once and the car saves the position to your profile. You can save multiple profiles for drivers, and take your profile from car to car. Once you've set it up once... well, that's it.
Both the side mirror and steering wheel position is controlled electronically via the buttons on the steering wheel. You only have to select it via the screen. Purely mechanical controls seem dated, especially for the mirrors IMO.
The goal is to delete as many parts as possible. No part is the best part. Do you want a 100% steel knife or a steel knife with a plastic handle that can corrode or fall apart?
I always wonder how often people apparently adjust their mirrors and steering - especially in a car like the Model 3 that has user profiles which safe your settings for those components, so even if someone would readjust your stuff you basically set your profile to active and everything is where it should be.
I really enjoy your reviews Rory. you do well blending your humour with information that is both subjective & objective-and i want both of those because after watching penty of your reviews i've come to trust your opinions almost as much as the information. Thanks!
Killed it Rory! Tesla are constantly improving and updating things, and they learn fast. They dont have many weaknesses now in terms of being an EV, and are still by miles the easiest to live with due to the network.
If they are learning, why do they still have massive panel gaps on an expensive car ? Even Rory (Tesla owner) moaned about it on last Tesla video. Maybe Tesla just don’t care about build quality
@@jimpackard8059 your comment shows a lack of understanding and that’s ok. Anything built in Fremont is iffy. However anything built in China or Berlin is equal to most cars in that price bracket.

They are built with the cheapest parts available. How I know? my friend is a Tesla technician. The steel is junk, the paint is junk, the high voltage cables are made by the cheapest materials you can find, replace them 24/7. The door latches, window motors, window regulators etc are made of the lowest quality in Mexico. The steering shaft is a Range Rover design build cheaply in the philippines, replaced 24/7. The taillights are build cheap in Mexico, a Lexus led tail light cost 5× times then a Tesla led tail light, maybe a reason I have never seen a broken Lexus tail lights vs a Teslas everyday with broken tail lights. First they were going to switch to Kyb but the price for a quality product was too strong for them to handle. Their clock springs became a nightmare after stopping using clock springs from Mercedes. Model S struggles with bad poor suspension parts casted in aluminum since they of course stopped using the factory in Canada who makes aluminum suspension parts for Porsche,Lexus,BMW,Audi,Mercedes,Dodge, Corvette ect. The Model S has major problems with ground wires corroding to the point of complete destruction since Tesla mix aluminum and steel, Model S also har major problems with subframe cracks, The radiator support is such poorly casted the aluminium often crumbles and cracks. The two temperature sensors in the electric motor cannot withstand heat and breaks over time, the sensor cant be replaced so a new $8000 drive unit is needed for a $300 sensor. For some reason, Tesla decided to install all computers and connectors where the drainage for the sunroof goes out under the car, causing damage for thousands of $$ if the system clog. The wires to the doors are too short, a Fiat problem from the 70s, the wires to the tailgate are bent and under pressure at the rear of the roof, which ends up breaking all the wires. Taillights cracks and struggle with fog, the heat pumps etc are made out of plastic, never lasting more than 5 - 8 years, their AC lines are crimped wrong, the brakes lines somehow has air in them, rusting apart from inside, Somehow Tesla has made subframe bushing which cannot be replaced. Good luck.
@@ninaadshetty2744 I have no objection to the screen at all. All the controls you need to use often on the move are on the wheel. But the indicators, like the horn, should always be in the same place when you need them. Not changing sides and inverting depending on the orientation of the wheel.
I test drove one and you have to scramble to find the bottoms on a roundabout as the steering wheel isn’t at 3 and 9 during right turn. Really hard to get used to. May work in US but not in UK as the roads aren’t always straight.
So happy Rory is killing it with content. He was easily the best presenter on TopGear after CHM left. Reminded me of the older episodes when it used to be about cars. Anyway, I’m just happy to see him here again and making glorious content for us to watch!
As the owner of a 2023 model 3, I'm disappointed with some of the changes, especially getting rid of the turning stalks and the new headlights. I'm not a fan of the new front end (I like the more aggressive front end, especially considering it has fog lights). The screen for the rear seat is neat, but changes I really want to see are a powered frunk, a hatchback (the design of the car is practically begging for it), and a heads up display for speed.
Turning signals, wipers, etc. on the steering wheel is not minimalist or innovative, just cost cutting. with the software and load space Tesla still rocks it but, with the looks and physical buttons i would go for BYD Seal (of course it depends on personal taste) Hope Tesla would bring those buttons back, and little screen for drivers with its next generation cars.
It honestly is not a big deal it seems like it but u get used to it plus it’s easier with the autopilot bc u don’t have to move your hand to activate it. But to each their own🤷♂️👍🏻
What an informative and engaging review! As a 2022 Model 3 owner, the improved aerodynamics (improving highway speed range), quieter cabin, and improved suspension are significant and positive changes. I would have liked to know how well the new car handles compared to the previous model, not just that it's more refined and comfortable. Removing stalks for turn signals is a really poor idea from a safety perspective. If anything, I would have instead added more function to the existing stalks (more wiper function) for safety. I also would improve the brakes. The screen and function of the screen are brilliant and I have no problems operating everything from it. (except wiper function should be a direct switch for safety). A heads-up display for speed would be a bonus. Still, this remains the best EV sedan for the money available at this time. EM's negative social-political effects on the world are the only reason I'd look anywhere else for my next EV.
Thanks. Handling-wise - quite similar. The steering is perhaps less hyper sensitive, so it feels marginally less responsive (arguably a good thing) but there may be less grip in the corners from these new tyres. -Rory
Tesla must be the first car manufacturer to intentionally make it virtually impossible to indicate on the exit of a small or mini roundabout. It's quite common in the UK to have to switch from right to left indication in a short space of time and taking your eyes off the road is not an option!
Interesting, around there you signal when going in/driving in a roundabout? Here you only signal when you leave it, cos its not like it adds anything to be signaling into the roundabout in any scenario I can think of. I just test drove this here in Finland and sure, after 20 years of having stalks in my driving career, it's certainly gonna take a while to get used to. But if you keep your left hand planted around the button it wasnt that bad, however we dont have small/mini roundabouts here either
@@core_fin when you are approaching I mini roundabout you need to indicate so other cars approaching know where you are going as they are small, otherwise everyone would just continue on and end up on it at the same time. You see a car indicating to go across your path, you should be prepared to stop
Have had an early edition model 3 since 2018. Best car I've ever owned. And the easiest/ cheapest to maintain to boot. One tire change is the entire list of vehicle maintenance I've spent money on in the last five years.
Fantastic video. I think you just sold me on looking into selling my 2018 Model 3 and seeing about getting a new one. Though I'll likely still wait to see when a new battery comes along. That said, when making the open butthole joke, one should probably call out that this function doesn't really have a use case scenario anyway and is just one of many silly easter eggs that has popped up in the software over the years. There is never a time that you need to open the charge port from inside the car. And if you're outside the car it opens by pressing a button on the charge cable, or by simply pressing on the charge port itself. But if you did for some reason need to open the charge port from the driver seat, when the car is in park, there's always a button on the screen for that.
"There is never a time that you need to open the charge port from inside the car". Not true. When asking a passenger to plug in the charger, it's much easier if you open it first if they don't know the car.
@OMGWTFLOLSMH Fair enough I guess. In five years, I can't say I've ever even considered asking a passenger to plug in the car. But regardless, like I said the car has to be in park to plug it in, and when it's in park, there's a button in the middle of the screen to open the charge port. One less step than using voice commands. You've gotta push a button in both cases.
You can just open it by saying open charge port via voice anyway. The butthole thing isn’t even an issue it’s just a reach because you never have to even use that phrase…
@djb730 I'm aware. The point is that those who don't already drive a Tesla are not. That's not a responsible approach to a product review (and as you stated, is inaccurate). And of those four ways to open it, voice command has the most steps and is the least practical. Only reason Tesla even added a voice command for the charge port is because they enjoy adding silly unnecessary items in software updates.
Funny thing is that they call it minimalism, yet they removed the gear shifter and put its functionality on the monitor. But then they added separate gear control buttons just in case the monitor doesn't work? If that's the case, why not just keep it simple with just one column gear shifter with no extra buttons? It would be much more intuitive and less confusing. It’s just cost-saving..
Love my Model 3. Mine is from Aug 2019, and sitting in even the pre-highland recent cars feels like a pretty big step forward compared to mine, this is looking like a leap forward!
@@James_36 I probably wouldn’t give the most unbiased answer as I generally am against buying new cars. If I were looking now it would be to pick one up inside the warranty period but not new.
A lot of improvements, but removing the indicator stalk - really? That's going to make changing indicator from right to left when going round a roundabout a right pain. Not an issue in the US but did no-one in Tesla Europe point this out? I'm amazed it's legal and it just seems another contributory factor to the very high insurance group ratings Teslas have. I wonder how long before we see aftermarket retro-fit column stalks? A shame as the other improvements mostly seem worthwhile.
With roundbouts here in the UK and other parts of the EU, the omission of indicator storks is a backward step IMO in terms of functionality and safety. Indicating whilst exiting a roundabout is often done whilst the steering is turned, having to locate buttons on a moving steering wheel is impractical and if you’re required to look down at the wheel to locate same it’s frankly unsafe. Form over function, and unfortunately, it’s a deal breaker on an otherwise nicely upgraded vehicle.
@@andrewbell8837 Indeed. Besides there are many Model S and X around for years now which have the same arrangement. Looks like all those people manage just fine.
As someone who lived next to a traffic lights as a student. Wish the horn was a loud on inside than out. Many drivers don’t seem to understand you can’t just use you horn when you want and not effect others (esp. residents at night). Rant over the car looks great
Very good content, video quality and sense of humor ! One of the best review I’ve seen and I believe I saw all of them already :) well done and thanks !
Here is an idea for Tesla: The controls on the steering wheel ought not to move as you turn the steering wheel. This should be possible to design. The driver would turn the steering wheel without the controls turning, thus not making it awkward for the driver to use the controls. It would mean separating the controls from the actual wheel. I am convinced this is possible to do, and would make the driver's experience much better, and perhaps would give Tesla an extra edge over their competitors if they did it.
Fog lights are meant to make you more visible to other drivers in foggy condition, that's why when they're aimed correctly and used in clear conditions they blind oncoming traffic. They won't "cut" through fog and their range of illumination is much shorter than the range of the main (dipped) headlights. The advantage is, because they're so low they won't blind you, the driver, like the main beam would at night. Turn on the main beam when it's foggy and you'll see less than with the dipped beams. The fog lights being low won't change the density of the fog so objects that you won't see with the dipped headlights will remain invisible even with fog lights turned on. And those that you will see because of them are still much too close often times to even react properly, like potholes for example. The next time you drive and it's foggy outside, like dense fog, notice that you will see that the fog lights on the oncoming cars are brighter than the dipped beams and sometimes you will see them just a second or two before the main headlights. They won't give *you* any extra reaction time for obstacles, but will give oncoming traffic extra time to react to your presence and at the same time won't negatively impact your visibility as would the main beams do.
Fog lights are used in cars to improve visibility during poor weather conditions like fog or heavy rain, it has nothing to do with to make you more visible. They emit a longer wavelength light (reason they are often yellow) that's less scattered by water droplets, produce a wide beam directed towards the ground to reduce reflection, and are positioned low on a vehicle to illuminate the road beneath the fog. Only fog lights that improve car's visibility are located in rear
@@whitealiens rear fog lights should not be used in heavy rain as they cause too much glare and mask the use of brake lights. UK drivers should stick to what they usually do and use them on a warm summers day
I had been told the redesigned model 3 does have fog lights, but they’re part of the main lights. It may be impacted in usability by being higher but can @autotrader confirm that there aren’t any at all?
Also not sure why they don’t use the new ambient LED lights by turning a different color to indicate someone in your blind spot instead of a small light in the speaker? 🤷♂️
The indicators on the steering wheel isn’t that bad since you’re supposed to use them before you start turning. The miss was putting both turn signals on the same side instead of instinctively putting the left turn signal on the left side and the right on the right side? Not ideal but maybe they can software update it to switch the equivalent button on the right?
Yea as far as I know it has fog lights in the main units, at least from the one I saw and sat in in the Netherlands. Also, it has blind spot monitors in the car for years now, it's integrated in the screen and ACTIVELY steers away from obstacles if it detects one. I had a car take the inside lane as I was moving to the right so he ended up in my blind spot and the car intervened to steer me back into the left lane with a red car highlighted on screen and a warning sound. Better blind spot monitor than any light you can put into a mirror.
Indicators on the wheel is probably the worst idea of the decade ! This alone is a no for many buyers. Also thank you for not being a Fanboy and highlighting the issues this car has !
For me the missing parking sensors are a big no. I doubt Tesla will bring them back. They would have to admit that relying on cameras was a stupid idea.
@@Maochan81 I can live without the sensor completely but I recon they're very useful when precise especially for small spaces/parkings especially in Europe/Eastern Countries.
I thought I'd miss CarPlay - but I don't. After a week or so, Tesla screen makes complete sense, the navigation is best in way nicer than CarPlay and if you sign into Apple Music, the hifi is just like Apple Music on a Mac. The only thing I miss (and haven't figured out) is how to use voice to send text messages whilst driving.
It's really hard to explain to someone without sounding like a raging fanboy, isn't it. I have the same, and it's incredible, by far the best car I've ever owned, and yet heres a new one with a host of improvements. I can only imagine how good this would be to a new owner.
Fun fact the front doors on the model 3 exterior are definitely new and redesigned SLIGHTLY. The line that flows from the side camera now flows into the door panel. Also I think the side skirts/lower sill on the exterior are different? Hard to tell
I test drove the latest Tesla Model 3 recently. I must admit, it's a fantastic car. While the button indicators may seem a bit unusual at first, you quickly get accustomed to them - it's not a big issue for me.
The stupid location of the indicator buttons was invented by a person not used to roundabouts. Surely that should never have been allowed on safety grounds. Think the car looks a major upgrade apart from that.
Nice review with actually objective and non-biased comments about the car (unlike some other reviewers), big respect! It's a cool car overall (ignoring the illogical capacitive safety-hazards), although I can't believe there's still no 360 degree view option, even with all those cameras on it. I was sure it would be added in the redesign, but guess not.
Currently own a 2022 Model 3 Performance. Whilst the new model is cool in every way, I'm afraid the whole "No Ultrasonic Sensors" thing is a deal breaker for me. Something as basic as getting accurate parking sensors is a MUST nowadays. Hopefully they will revert back to the sensors one day.
As camera software gets better it won’t matter, the car can see how far it is and know exactly how much the wheels spin and the distance they cover to calculate the distance to the object
Unfortunately that's not the case yet. When and if the Tesla Vision system will be implemented perfectly (seeing low curbs, objects, etc...) then the upgrade would make sense.
@@Baskinbzier why pay for a new car for something that will hopefully eventually work. Seems silly. Stick to 2022 and prior years UNTIL they make those feature actually work better than USS
Disappointed in the lack of a camera on the front bumper - the ones in the windscreen have a big blind spot just in front of the bumper, and without ultrasonic sensors either, it explains why Rory mentioned the lack of parking accuracy. Agreed. Nothing wrong with stalks. This is where Elon's influence is detrimental. He does not get much wrong but removing the stalks, along with the yoke on the model S, these are absurd standard feature. Make it a free option! Guaranteed not many would take it. Thankfully the yoke is now an option. I'm afraid the stalks are not coming back though or it would be aftermarket. In the US, not big deal we don't have many circles. In Europe though I would be upset. I can see people not buying the car just because of that.
For the indicators, Tesla should have just added a physical button on each side. One on the left and one on the right. Easier and accessible for the driver. Just like Ferrari’s.
Can someone explain to me why you would want Apple carplay or Android Auto on a Tesla? I used to use them on my other cars but I see no use for them on a Tesla, what am I missing?
I'm in US and have a 2022 M3lr. I'd like to up the sound system, the suspension, and the quietness so will trade for the Highland if I live long enough to have them available in this country. Don't think the loss of stalks is good. Nothing that requires driver to take eyes from the road can be an improvement. Hopefully the aftermarket will come with a 'stalk kit' by the time the car comes here.
Have you driven newer S or X, neither have drive stalks, and frankly it's not a big loss. But get a test drive on one of those to try it out. I'm all in on the new version and selling my '22 M3.
No stalks is a deal breaker for me. Also, have they improved the windscreen wiper controls? There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the auto wipe, making it pretty unusable.

I went for a test drive with model 3. Not having an indicator stalk was initially uncomfortable but after a few minutes i kind of liked it. However, it is a serious concern while exiting the roundabouts! You have to take your eyes off from the road and find the indicator button. Yet, I was tempted enough to order the car! Its so slick inside and feels like a 🚀
I do not agree with the design criticism of the least gen. Tesla has always made beautiful cars, except when they stretch the existing platform to fit a larger body (s to x, and 3 to y). The model 3 and model s both have very clean timeless lines, the lights have nice solid looking led's, its clean and well look good for years and years to come. People who say it looks weird don't know why certain cars look good and others don't. Its all about cohesive, clean, simple lines that connect and work together. If you analyze the design of the old model 3, you get many details that make it immediately appear sportier than any ice car. Like the slight dip in the hood excentuaying the wheel arches, the clean unbroken haunch lines crossing the length of the car, most of it is all very good design and i don't know why people criticise it. I haven't seen the new model 3 up close, but i kind of like the old model 3 better. The new one just looks too simple in the front, there's not much going on. The back is better though. And the efficiency. Basically everything except the lack of stalks is a big improvement, and also the design. Still unsure about that aspect.
@@ismeto couldn't quite get what you're saying, but it really isn't a big deal. The back looks better, and now having seen the car in red, I like the front better too. It's smoother, quieter, and has better build quality and improved speaker system. I'm liking this new model 3 in every way except the stalks.
To be honest, I liked the design of the Model 3, and all Teslas, except the Model X. But the Model X design has grown on me. I don't know what people are talking about, with regards to the exterior design of Tesla cars. I don't have much of an issue with Tesla's exterior design language, at all. It is their interior and built-quality that I have issues with.
For me I feel like they need really good colours to make the cars look great. Like the cars in just bog standard white look crap imo but get like a nice red or a nice blue and they look stunning
@@RayOLight The new red is a beautiful colour, but it's a £2k option which feels a bit steep. Perhaps that's made up for by the £3k price drop on the RWD model.
I recently started driving the Model 3 Highland. A nice car and it drives well. There are a few user points that I don't support. - giving direction with buttons on the steering wheel is ridiculous and dangerous. According to support you can have stems installed, costs (of their design error) are yours - Speed warnings and warning of activating autopilot can only be turned off once. This action occurs every time you drive (and yes, everyone drives 1 or 2 km per hour too fast sometimes). - Speed cameras are on the map, but have no notification. Why not?
Good review Rory. However at the moment I drive a Model 3 Long Range and I have to say that the new steering wheel is a deal breaker as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully by the time I think about renewing my current car they will have come to their senses and put the stalks back on otherwise I will be looking elsewhere for my next car.
Don't be blinded by the quality of their software. Tesla is still playing catch up when it comes to designing and building an actual drivable car. Would you rather drive a car by a company that has been perfecting software for 10 years or one that has been building cars for 50+?
@@astrobot3038 I will choose a car that suits me. If that is a car maker with 50+ years of experience great. But if it's a car maker who has just started out then that is good. My Model 3 is coming up to 4 years old and I find it a very drivable car. While we're are on the subject of being blinded, don't let any misgivings about the Tesla CEO get in the way of trying a different car. I've been driving now for well over fifty years and have had many different makes of cars in that time some good some not so much.
The removal of the column-mounted stalks was intended to simplify the assembly process of the steering column and reducing costs and complexities. The idea to regulate all controls to the screen was to make the dashboard simple, cheap, and modular. Tesla can do this because they are a software company. And after all, Tesla needs to make a profit.
So why did they add the expensive rear seat screen, which costs WAY MORE than 2 basic stalks ????? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Disproves that theory, doesn’t it ???

I live in Canada, and you are one of my favourite reviewers, probably because you have always been so impartial and accurate. This is the first time I have seen you so critical of such a nice car. The new Tesla has really improved in terms of quality and performance. I was a hardcore Tesla hater, and this Model 3 has turned me into a fan. Sadly, after listening to your review of the new Model 3, it almost seems you have a personal agenda against Tesla.
To be fair to Rory, he did say that he owns a Model Y - which is really just a pumped-up Model 3. So he should know the cars very well. He's clearly just incredibly impartial and realistic, qualities I desire in a reviewer.
Biggest concern is the ambient light reflection on the windshield. Totally didn’t think of that. Also the missing stalks. But very cool nonetheless!! Big improvements. It’s shocking how ahead Tesla is from every other car company out there 👏🏼 Great review!!!!
With a bit of luck, there will be an update in the future where you can customise each of the 5 lights sections. Then you can turn off the front ambient light.
The old model 3 started at £42,990, the fact that they've reduced the price for the refresh is crazy
Thats what happens when demand goes down and competition ramps up

Really great car, I think the one thing that needs changing (at least for Europe and Asia) is the stalks. It’s just impractical having them removed and it’s just really Tesla finding a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
Overall, it’s an incredible car, but I think the Model Y refresh next year will be even better!
Yup. Just like that idiotic yoke they tried on the plaid
There are aftermarket options if you really have to have them
Taking your driving test in this may well increase your chance of failing.
No stalks. No sale. Why do updates CREATE new problem and create idiocy?

I'm pretty sure you could just say "open charge port" to open the charge point. Also clocking in the button of a Tesla charge plug will open a charge port if the plug is close to the port. Or, you could also just tap on the port's door if the car is unlocked.
You can also click the button on the charger's handle while near the port, without even touching the car

I always wonder how often people apparently adjust their mirrors and steering - especially in a car like the Model 3 that has user profiles which safe your settings for those components, so even if someone would readjust your stuff you basically set your profile to active and everything is where it should be.

The production on the video was sooooooo good. Well done! Very entertaining and informative.

Either way, you don’t have to use that voice command, there’s about 4 other ways of doing it. It’s just a joke, get over it.

@@whitealiens Correct, the first guys post was complete bollox
@GridConnections That's a good idea, and would be easily added via software.

Good review Rory I, learned more than from other reviews. I hate lack of stalks. Probably would stop me buying tbh.
I thought I'd miss CarPlay - but I don't. After a week or so, Tesla screen makes complete sense, the navigation is best in way nicer than CarPlay and if you sign into Apple Music, the hifi is just like Apple Music on a Mac. The only thing I miss (and haven't figured out) is how to use voice to send text messages whilst driving.
im wondering since theres no stalks how do you activate autopilot in the new car?
Push the right button twice.
We have a 2022 Model 3 - it’s the best car I’ve ever owned by far, but they’ve just improved it a LOT. Damn! But also, respect 👊🎉❤️
It's really hard to explain to someone without sounding like a raging fanboy, isn't it. I have the same, and it's incredible, by far the best car I've ever owned, and yet heres a new one with a host of improvements. I can only imagine how good this would be to a new owner.
It takes a week to get used to the steering. I have been driving a Plaid for 3 years and it is a non issue.
Fun fact the front doors on the model 3 exterior are definitely new and redesigned SLIGHTLY. The line that flows from the side camera now flows into the door panel. Also I think the side skirts/lower sill on the exterior are different? Hard to tell
Hmmm....fun...🤔
@@PROvidsTV yep that’s why I said AS THE SOFTWARE GETS BETTER lol smh
@@Baskinbzier why pay for a new car for something that will hopefully eventually work. Seems silly. Stick to 2022 and prior years UNTIL they make those feature actually work better than USS
Disappointed in the lack of a camera on the front bumper - the ones in the windscreen have a big blind spot just in front of the bumper, and without ultrasonic sensors either, it explains why Rory mentioned the lack of parking accuracy. Deal breaker for a lot of European folks who have to park in tight spaces on a daily basis…
I'm not a Tesla fan. I personally drive something else. But I still tip my hat to Elon and his team for producing such a compelling product. Up there at the top of this class.
The model 3 has always been my favourite tesla, and I think this update looks great
Thank you...Last week I test drove the Model 3, felt like a little boy trying to get my parents out of bed to open X-Mas gifts...I made up my mind on, Stealth Gray, Black interior...When available in the States...Enjoy life...
This may very well be my next car..was considering a used Model S
This may be my next car as well. I ordered an Integra Type S on May 14 but nobody can tell me when it will arrive. If the 2024 Model 3 goes on sale in the U.S. before the Integra comes in, then I will probably order the Model 3 because I'm tired of waiting.
Removing stocks and parking sensors is really the worst thing tesla could do. Saving costs on that and then putting useles lcd to back seats nobody ever wanted makes me sad. This car would be so perfect... :(
With FSD beta the 360 detection and visualization is better than any 360 bird’s eye camera system in any other car.
Awesome review of the Tesla Model 3. This is one of the best electric cars on the market.
Let's see : Pininfarina Battista, Rimac Nevera, Aspark Owl, Nio EP9, Byd U9, Lucid Air Sapphire, Lucid Air base car, Nio ET7, Rolls Royce Specter, Byd U8, Hyundai Ioniq5N, Volvo EX-30, MG4 Xpower, Polestar 3, Audi Q8 e-tron, Hiphi Z, Mercedes EQS, Mercedes EQE, Mustang Mach-e Long Range, Porsche Taycan, Porsche Taycan Turismo, Bmw i7, Bmw iX, and the Model S and X all come before the Model 3, so it is not even top 20 best EV car currently.

@@astrobot3038 .....says the troll knowing quite well that there are many of his kind in this comment section.
@THEREALZENFORCE why are you watching this vid if your just gunna hate on tesla?
@@THEREALZENFORCE Are you really comparing a Model 3 to Rimac Nevera? intil the Roadster 2.0 come out, tesla's competitor to Nevera is Model s plaid track pack, and even that is superior to the Nevera in functionnality ( 5 seats vs 2, more range, more storage space, etc) with comparable performance and for 5% the price, nothing beats Tesla in performance to price ratio IMO.
Looks 1000 times better.
I really really wanted a Y but I got this purely because of the suspension, ride, and handling. The difference was night and day, even compared to last years 3.
Moving everything to the steering wheel is not ok. Why mess with something so simple and easy to use?
Completely agree. I can’t imagine trying to activate the wipers or indicators especially while in a turn. I’m surprised there are not more complaints about this but I suppose it must eventually become second nature to owners of the car?
I was thinking similar, one on each side instead of both on one side.
Wasn't expecting to hear "open butthole" in a car review.
Ordered a Long Range Model already. Hoping it will deliver this year.
It has fsd koni dampers for better comfort, easy to put on old model 3.
Great review, definitely a car i would like to buy.
No stalks is a deal breaker for me. Also, have they improved the windscreen wiper controls? There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the auto wipe, making it pretty unusable.
16:20 Couldn't agree more. Never thought I would like an EV, or model 3. But i can't get enough of my 2024 model 3.
Man, it CAN'T be just me who thinks this looks like the second generation tesla roadster...
12:35 thank god they have this feature, will make my life significantly less stressful now that I don’t have to select reverse by tapping a button myself 🤦🏻♂️

Errrr no

Legacy auto seems so old and outdated in comparison
@@Johnny2Feathers Outdated, with their working parking sensors and proper indicator stalks and nicer interiors. I'm a Tesla fan, but most people don't want a race to the bottom with everything removed that isn't required by regulation including safety items like foglights.
@@martinogold You are just a troll, claiming to be a Tesla fan, how ridiculous.
It’s just hate. Some people hate Tesla from lies and propaganda while others hate because they are sheeple. It’s really quite sad.

You almost drove through that wall😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I recently started driving the Model 3 Highland. A nice car and it drives well. There are a few user points that I don't support.
- giving direction with buttons on the steering wheel is ridiculous and dangerous. According to support you can have stems installed, costs (of their design error) are yours
- Speed warnings and warning of activating autopilot can only be turned off once. This action occurs every time you drive (and yes, everyone drives 1 or 2 km per hour too fast sometimes).
- Speed cameras are on the map, but have no notification. Why not?
Rory covering ALL the little details
@@astrobot3038Tesla build quality is as good as anything from legacy auto
The removal of the column-mounted stalks was intended to simplify the assembly process of the steering column and reducing costs and complexities. The idea to regulate all controls to the screen was to make the dashboard simple, cheap, and modular. Tesla can do this because they are a software company. And after all, Tesla needs to make a profit.
Tesla is earning milions if not bilions in profits, stalks wouldnt break them imo 😂
So why did they add the expensive rear seat screen, which costs WAY MORE than 2 basic stalks ?????

Model 3 is a good looking car. Better than many of the cars described as good looking by reviewers
Did we watch the same review?...
What are you talking about?
Agreed on all the critiques. Love the car, but some missed opportunities to bridge the gaps.
Looks great, will buy it as soon as the stalks are back together with the park distance sensors.
