Exactly. He was an incredible person. Funny, brilliant, could do it all, and he did. TV, Movies, Starring, Directing, Writing, Producing and anything else he wanted. He was the King of Comedy and is still rembered and loved. Rest in Peace Richard Proyer ✌️❤️🌼
How in the world did i find this today of all days. Ive been 12 years clean today. This is the most accurate description of addiction ive ever heard. Live you Rich and the world misses your insight.
Congratulations! Here's to the next 12 clean years! The Doobie Brothers did an album cover ('74), "What were once vices are now habits." Richard said that if you've been doing it two weeks, then it's already a habit. It doesn't take long to go from vice to habit.
He’s literally describing every addiction! Also, the denial most of these people are in. To go through what he went through with drugs and to be able to come back and explain it so honestly and openly, is amazing. He will always be one of the best comedians that ever lived! According to me!! 👏👏👏
I grew up listening to Richard and Eddie and Sam kinison. But Richard would always put himself out there for the audience with complete honesty. Thats how much he loved and thought of his audience as family
It’s art at its higher level! Not even just comedy. He turned one of the most painful, tragic and personal experiences of his life and transformed it into this thing where thousands of people (and now millions) watching are laughing and empathising and feeling a deep connection. As an ex-addict this bit always struck a chord with me and honestly he’s forever a genius.
I miss Richard Pryor too! I grew up listening to his shows and he always had me laughing, even when he was talking about messing up with free basing. He always seemed like a guy you could sit and drink beers with and just talk, tell stories and laugh your ass off with. RIP Mr. Pryor
I miss Richmond Proyer too. 😔 I miss George Carlin too. 😔 Grew up listening to them both. They both did it all for everyone. Red Foxx was another great comedian that we used to listen to. None of them could do their normal routines on Johnny Carson 😊 and that was funny in itself. Rest in Peace all of you. Hope you are all together being so funny 🙏🤗✌️❤️🌼
This segment of Rich talking about this shit is the absolute most honest , most real and most truth that ever been told on a stage by an entertainer of any type. This wasn't a comedy routine, this was therapy for him. He was trying to warn people about cocaine and crack. About 5 years later the crack epidemic hit. Rip Mr. Pryor. To me, your the best comedian of all times.
An astute analogy of the body that is addiction. It will punch and kick you, especially when you’re down. Lies constantly therefore has a bad mouth to go with its body. I’ve had my share of addicted moments in my lifetime.
Imagine watching this when you were seven or eight. On the bright side, between his stories, Carlin's and Robin William's tales of bad drugs, letting me watch this was probably one of the most effective things my parents ever did to keep me off from drugs. On the bad side, I learned VERY quickly these weren't jokes I could tell the next day at school.
I like other comedians but none were in this man's league. Richard was one of a kind. How many people can joke about themselves being burned. I think that showed he had moved on past that and I'm proud of him for it. RIP Richard , king of comedy.
As a ex crack addict let me tell you....worst year and a half of my young life...that drug dont care about nothing or nobody...to God be all the glory...24 years clean!
That s great man..24 years is a huge milestone ,Congratulations...I m from Italy,in Europe we don t have so much crack, people free base ,is it the same?
25 years of free basing , crack, shooting heroin, coke and I don't know how I survived but I'm 59 now and my health is terrible 😔 I put so much trash 🗑️ into my body it's amazing I'm still here.
I was there that night. My best girlfriend and I laughed hard . He wasn't even on the list of entertainment marquees. He just dropped in .we knew we were lucky that night. I loved that girl so much.
Richard Proyer was the King 👑 of Comedy. Redd Foxx even admired him from what I understand. He opened soo many doors for young black show businesses in every way. Rest in Peace Richard Proyer. You are still missed and loved ❤️✌️❤️🌼
This man is on another level when it comes to comedy and he is a legend that paved the way for other guys to tell jokes and rock a stage like he did when he was performing. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
I think I remember reading something about the day before, he couldn't do it. Sorry if I'm incorrect. Rest in Peace Richard Proyer The King of Comedy. He surpassed Redd Fox, who was a great friend to him I'm sure. Again, I apologize if I'm incorrect. So glad I didn't start smoking, but know some that do, and some that did. ✌️❤️🌼
As a man who's been through decades of drug and alcohol abuse, I understand his humor all so well. It's funny because I'll laugh, then I'll have a sad/dark moment of introspection and feel sad, then I'll laugh again!
Awareness came from the strangest places when you're young. I must have been 10 or 11 in this time. The time of Nancy Reagan's Dare program. 80's crazy
People who don’t know what he’s saying or do they know of anything that he is saying or talking about,,,,people just don’t understand that he’s a honorary citizen and funny character throughout his whole existence of his life knowing that he is super smart and duper funny 😆,,,no matter what,,, he is super duper smart funny 😁 and he’s cute and funny about everything throughout his whole career and everything but technically telling people about his personality,,,life and everything that is wrong and needs to be changed to avoid being stupid and broken up and weird…..

The 70s and 80s had some of the best music and comedians of the ages.
A lot of 80's music is also hot trash. To be fair. 50/50.
Best boxers too
And movies and tv shows
They had a boost from the crack
Your right. Comedians were allowed to be funny & reflect.
Richard.... really telling it like it is....but making it funny but also a "strong" message ! He was amazing ! 😊 👍
His genius was turning tragedy into comedy. Comedy at its highest level.

"We'll talk it over". You have to experience addiction on this level to know precisely how true those little details are.
Richard Pryor was the best comedian that has ever lived! He was the funniest man that the world has ever seen! Loved this man!❤
