I saw this movie by myself just a couple years ago at home and it had me absolutely rolling laughing! 🤣😂 I'm now a die-hard Cheech and Chong fan! I have watched all of their old movies, listened to their music, watched their live performances, and I know most of their funny bits and comedy skits. 😆 Edit: I'm now 25 years old. Freaking classic! Loved these guys back in the day! My cousin rest his soul gave me an album back in 79 and I never returned it. It had the Drive-in skit along with Dave's not home. Funny as hell lol...Thanks guys for the good times!
I've seen this movie at least 100 times. NO REGRETS. Go with it? I'll go with it . . . . the whole movie is one long punchline from start to finish; without a doubt one of the funniest movies ever made
I was 16 years old when Cheech & Chong up in smoke came out, I saw it in the theater with friends...It was the midnight theater, and back then and you could smoke in the theater...Me and my friends thought no one would ever know where pot smoke was coming from if we lite a joint, because the whole place was filled with smoke.. We were super smart back then... So we sat in the middle of the theater and smoked a joint watching this movie, and got away with it...What can I say it was the 70's... A great time to be alive!!! True story...
I was working as a projectionist at a movie theatre playing "Up in Smoke". The smoke was so thick that you could see the projector beams lighting up the smoke. I was feeling a bit woozy after the movie from the secondhand smoke.
My brother and I still have our big bamboo albums with the papers sealed because our dad told us they'd be worth something someday. And he gave us two so we could use the papers. Now they are priceless and not for sale. Thanks for teaching us the difference between use and abuse, RIP Daddy-o
I feel you. I remember watching Up In Smoke at the drive-in theater too. My parents were laughing so hard they had tears coming down their eyes. I of course the drug humor, was over my head but thought it was funny they were laughing at the movie. The theater had a double-feature. After the second movie was over they would repeat Up In Smoke and shut the movie off at 1:00 am so everyone would go home! Madison Skyway Theater in Madison, Ohio!
I watched this in the 80's with my dad who was 1,000,000% anti drugs. In my entire life I never saw him laugh as hard as he did during this exact scene.
Most people who are anti-drugs used to be different as teens/to young adults.. like me.. I kid you not when I tell you, "Up in Smoke" almost killed me with laughter. I was in England for a baseball tournament, but during an off day we took in the movie. I laughed so hard (especially when Chong said, "I wasn't lookin' at his neck man"). I had to run out of the theater to catch my breath. I was on the American Allstar team but could not catch my breath for what seemed like a minute. I nearly passed out on the sidewalk in front of the Lakenheath Air Force base theater. The Good old days for sure!
LOL! I saw this movie when it came out back in the 70's. We went to a drive-in. This is the funniest movie of all time! Every time they lit up a joint in the movie we did too so it was like we were smoking with them. Those were the good 'ol days. I just watched this about a month ago and died laughing the whole time! I also like their albums too! "Dave's Not Here" and "Earache My Eye" are two of my favorites. I also met Cheech and Chong in front of a liquor store in Newport Beach, Ca. where I grew up. They pulled up in a stretch limousine. Then, many years later when I was down in Dana Point, Ca. I saw Cheech. I had just parked down at the harbor and he came walking in front of my car. I froze! He almost did too! He looked at me like he was saying, "Oh geez this lady is going to ask me for my autograph." I just looked at him with a smile and gave him a thumbs up then he smiled and did the same. Then he casually kept walking by. A moment I will never forget. 😁😁
This is just as funny as the first time I saw it, a lifetime ago. An American GI, stationed in The Netherlands and just got back from Nam introduced it to me. Guess he needed some laughter at that moment in time.... I was just stunned and blown away because it was so hilarious. "Mostly Maui Wowie... but it got some Labrador in it" that cracks me up again every time...
This scene always reminds me of my freshman year in high school. And a few other moments, lol. In spite of their differences between them, they were just the best duo. Cheech and Chong forever! ✌🏻😎❤️✨
The second concert I went to, was in 1972 in Denver. It was Alice Cooper and Redbone. During intermission Cheech and Chong performed all of their Crazy skits. They were hilarious. I was in 7th grade and it blew our minds.
I'm 61 Dublin Ireland way back a friend of mine came over from the UK and had this film with I think it was VHS one of the funniest films I ever seen, brings back memories 😊
40 years later from when I first saw Up in Smoke and I still laugh hilariously when I see thes two doing their thing. much funner and "mellower" times.
Watched the VHS of this movie for the first time in college in an altered state of mind. So funny then and it still packs a big punch. Thanks for sharing this classic scene!
First saw this in the Navy in a San Diego Drive-In. Had to go back the next night, to be able to remember it. I lived in Topanga Canyon in the '70s so, the SoCal beaches were my stomping grounds.
I was 18 when Cheech and Chong, UP IN SMOKE was released. Wow, time flys. Grew up in the North Bay California1960s the foothills of Mount Tamalpais back in the heyday of Hippie's, flower power, communes, psychedelics, free love, anti-war rallies, miniskirts, and some of the best rock ever.
I'm 65...I was the first in a small town down south to order the cheech&chong big bamboo album from our local record store...no one, to the best of my knowledge, had ever heard of them in our small town...I had half the kids in town listening to it on my dads stereo on a daily basis for a week!... great memories...thanks guys!
I started with a Cheech and Chong LP of this movie when I was 14 yrs old, because it was banned from the cinema initially. Later with the introduction of VHS I was able to watch it in full. I was 18 yrs old then and my father watched it. He was born in 1940 and I had never heard him laugh so hard. He would then harass the Video Store every time a new movie was released. I'm sure they thought he was on one long acid trip. He's 84 yrs old now and I just sent this to him for a trip down memory lane. If you didn’t grow up in the 60's and 70's, you missed the best time to be alive.
Been there, done that!! Went to public high school in the suburbs in the lane 1970's. Used to park the car and have smoke outs. We just fired up joints and bongs until the car got so smokey, the first one who couldn't take any more and had to bail out was the loser and had to buy the munchies!! Black, red, blond hash, and just about any type of weed you wanted. That and the drinking age was 18 back then. Blow didn't show up until the early 1980's and that added a whole new twist to the party scene. Gave all of that up when I found out that I was going to be a parent. Found out taking care of a baby and a toddler was a crazy high in and of itself!!
I graduated high school in 1973. When you parked in the senior lot, the more smoke billowing from your car the cooler you were. I missed 10 days of school that year only because I couldn't get stoned before class.
@@richardwilliams3625 I graduated in '74 & was about the same. We'd open the car door after work break & clouds would just come billowing out. We'd get high & speeding & to go places like Six Flags & Silver Dollar City & ride the rides. Redbud was $45/ounce, Gold was $60/ounce & Mexican was $20.
My favorite scene is when they’re parked on the grassy median, car filled with smoke & a cop walks up. The whole exchange with the cop was comedic gold!
I just bought an original 1972 big bambu albumn (with the rolling paper) because of this clip. I remember listening to it when I was 10yrs old back in 1972.
Saw them live in Vegas, late 70's. They did a dog act pretending to be male dog hunching female dog. Almost peed myself. They gave it their ALL. Hilarious! Great comedians!!
I remember that this movie was showing in my very first job in a Drive-in a 4 screen theatre back in 1978. We played it as the main movie for 1 year. In the drive-in I worked at we played the main and a co feature. Great times as a 17 year old.
When I was living in Prague, during the summer of 1995, on a student exchange trip with the Prague Technical University, I had a Bulgarian friend who learnt to speak English by watching Cheech & Chong films. He looked and sounded like Cheech Marin He was a great laugh.
When this dropped my dad took us to screen it at a drive-in. Spent most of the time on a payphone w/my girlfriend talking 13 year old sh-t, but didn't miss a moment of the hilarious on-screen action & all the iconic stuff like "His name is Ralph, man" imprinted permanently on my young mind. My brother & I got the OST the next day. Good times.
I'm going to be 50 next month my dad showed me this years ago I still love getting stoned and kicking back laughing my ass off to Cheech and Chong the welfare scene nice dreams that is funny as hell
Thanks for posting this! I think that even if somebody isn't a fan of Cheech & Chong, they gotta find this whole scene hilarious -- a solid comedy classic. Extra fun for me, as I used to have a '64 Impala just like that one.
I'm an early millennial, the first time I saw this scene I was in tears and couldn't breath from laughing. This is potentially the funniest movie scene ever IMHO.
I met Tommy Chong, stood outside for 2 hours I live in the Midwest in winter, bought a tie dye tank, got his signature, shook his hand,I said I'm your biggest fan! I've seen all your movies!he was COOL!!!❤🤣👑🇲🇽☮️
I'm 77 this month. This scene IS...Without a Doubt....THE FUNNIEST, BELLY LAUGHING part of ANY MOVIE I have seen. When Chong tells him it's LABRADORE...I can't stop laughing.

Were you all the dudes that rode in the drive-in in my cousins Buick LeSabre
Ha! That was me! I was the only Abominable Bumble there.
"His name is Raaaalph, man" kills me every time I watch this movie.
Gets me too
Dave's not here.
You'd collapse at the ET(Eddie Torres) joke.
Watched the VHS of this movie for the first time in college in an altered state of mind. So funny then and it still packs a big punch. Thanks for sharing this classic scene!
“Hey don’t take those, man.” 😂😂😂😂
Hope you’re not busy for the next month! 🤣🤣❤️
This just makes me want to watch it again, right now.
And I can relate with it too since I was raised in the Los Angeles area.
I would have loved to hang out with the hippies during the Haight Ashbury era
I don't remember us ever having a cheech n chong album but we did have a couple of 8 track tapes of them that we listened to in the car.
@@Oldfashionedmawmaw If it was on 8 track, it was on vinyl. If you consult Dr. Google it's probably a collectors item now.
I started with a cassette of 'Up in Smoke' and it was nearly as funny as the movie.
Same age. Wild times. I married & started my family in 1982. Thank God. Lol
I also went to high school in the late 70s. The drinking age was 18 but almost nobody waited that long.
@@SoFloCo-ne4rk lol. I was in clubs at 16. If you looked 18, doormen didn't care. Different days.
My favorite scene is still the motorcop walking up to them in the van. Just fantastic.
When he asked for the hot dog,,,,,if only!!! Love it!
Thank you for the much needed memory. I'm 69 and still pee my pants because of the humor and life lived in those times.
Right behind you at 67 yrs old I remember the 70s decade well.
72yo agree. NOTHING BETTER than Cheech & Chong
Great memories for me as well.
I was in my twenties in the 70's and this was so funny. But now I'm in my 70's in the twenties and it's still funny! 😎
@@valeriecole5957 Oh how we have the circle of life. 😇
I know this entire skit word for word since the late 80’s never gets old 😂
I am 73 and I am still stone love me some Chechen and Chong love these guys
My uncle had the album with the rolling paper lol
@@Chicken_Wing91 lol yea
@@Chicken_Wing91 most people smoked it 😂
One of my favorite movies of all time. Never gets old. 😂😂😂
Saw them live in Vegas, late 70's. They did a dog act pretending to be male dog hunching female dog. Almost peed myself. They gave it their ALL. Hilarious! Great comedians!!
Just as funny as when I watched it at the theater 45 years ago! 👍🏼
Both of them r so intelligent & funny. Feels so good to laugh. Wish we still had those kinda of shows from back then.😂
I remember that this movie was showing in my very first job in a Drive-in a 4 screen theatre back in 1978. We played it as the main movie for 1 year. In the drive-in I worked at we played the main and a co feature. Great times as a 17 year old.
I grew up secretly listening to to these guys in the70’s and 80’s!!! I’m 54 now and I still lmfao to these two vatos!!!
Cheech: “Hey man I never had no acid before man!”
Chong: “I hope you’re not busy for about a month” 😂😂😂😂
As far as Cheech & Chong go it all started with Sister Mary Elephant for me.
Shadddupppppp!!!!!
Blind Melon Chitluns for me. 😅
Dave and Sister Mary.
class...Class...CLAAAASS...SHUUUT UUUUP...
defe! and blind melon!
My dad and I used to watch Cheech and Chong movies and crack up😅 Being Mexican American, we loved Cheech the best. Brings back great memories;)
Mexican Americans like to take Spanish ...😀😀🎵🎼🎶
@888jimm and get a C. I was lucky to get that;)
Love it gs
60yrs old and recall the times watchin' Up In Smoke at our local drive-in on weekends.

Im 67 enjoyed and 😂my arse off this still is classic thanks 👍
Absolutely 1 of the most Funny Parts of the 70s
"No hey, it _IS_ a toothpick, man!"
Now, those were "the good old days"!!!
😂😅❤❤ They sure don't make movies like they used to🤣😅🤣😂
Cheech and Chong were like rockstars back in the 70's and 80's. Brilliant comedians!
Brings back memories! I love this scene!
"...kinda grabs ya the boo boo don't it?"... is 1 of the funniest lines of all time.
Still using it today!
“Hey man?”
“What?”
“What?.. uh oh!” 😂
I always thought it was poo-poo
"You better put your seat belt on, I'll tell you that."
"Toke! Toke it up man!"
I've seen this movie several times. However, I forgot about 'MUF DVR". That just cracked me up. Thanks again C&C.
then what was Tommy's name in movie?
@@anthonyfoutch3152 At the beginning his dad calls him Anthony. Says he should get a job like that Finklestien shit kid.
@@anthonyfoutch3152Anthony
Why did MUF DVR crack you up? I don't get the joke.

Mama always laughed at these two bc they reminded her of her brothers back in the day, they even favor lmbo
One of her brother has “ jap eyes” and the other a beard
I’m 55 and I love cheech and Chong. Funniest ever! 😂
My favorite movie. Watched high the first time I watched when I was a teen. I'm 63 now and still love it.
as young man in the 1970s I grew up listening to these guys on record and watching their movies all ways hillarious
Comedy at its greatest, right here. These guys are untouchable 🙌
When I was living in Prague, during the summer of 1995, on a student exchange trip with the Prague Technical University, I had a Bulgarian friend who learnt to speak English by watching Cheech & Chong films. He looked and sounded like Cheech Marin He was a great laugh.
I first saw this when I was 8, love it then and it’s still incredibly funny? I miss these two.
Good times.
Originally saw this at a drive-in when I was 16 years old. Just as funny now as it was then.
My 57 year old ass had to enjoy this my son when he was 15 years old. He's 20 now and doing alright. Love life!
ICONS FOREVER Thank you very much Philadelphia USA 🇺🇸
I'm an early millennial, the first time I saw this scene I was in tears and couldn't breath from laughing. This is potentially the funniest movie scene ever IMHO.
I’ve been there done that. Life changed and couldn’t it anymore because my job. As soon as I retire I’m going to savor the moment again. I’m 63
64, retired, and smokin' on the chairlift at a ski resort.
My mom and dad took me to the movies to see this. The entire theater was full of smoke. Let's just say everyone was mellow when they left.
mellowwww
I met Tommy Chong, stood outside for 2 hours I live in the Midwest in winter, bought a tie dye tank, got his signature, shook his hand,I said I'm your biggest fan! I've seen all your movies!he was COOL!!!❤🤣👑🇲🇽☮️
Yeah! Back when it was illegal. Man! I'm 66 years old, I still watch their movies. Never gets old 😂
I'm 77 this month. This scene IS...Without a Doubt....THE FUNNIEST, BELLY LAUGHING part of ANY MOVIE I have seen. When Chong tells him it's LABRADORE...I can't stop laughing.
