George Carlin took comedy to a whole new level by filling his routine with social commentary rants that made the audience laugh. Dave Chappelle is the only comedian alive I know who can rival Carlin. Richard Pryor was a comedy genius. Many imitated him but none could ever reach his level of excellence. Pryor is to comedy what James Brown is to soul/funk music.

Richard Prior - The primary writer for the Mel Brooks movie 'Blazing Saddles', he wrote lines that the actors uncomfortable saying but he convinced them that if the movie was going to hit the raw nerves of the audience then they needed to be said and Ceavon Little agreed. Kudos to the entire crew for ignoring the studio and making the film as it needed to be made.
Met Richard while filming superman 3 in Canada. Was coming back from a party, bout 5 AM and he's walking alone down some stairs, outside. Talked a bit an he signed my hat. Super nice guy, love his movies, FUNNY. RIP Richard. Take care man
I remember a friend and I listening to this album and we were about 14 yr old. It was her older brother’s and I had never heard anything like this man. This album was mind blowing. This man is the one who started it all. Every famous comic today owes a debt of gratitude to this man.

Him and Evel Knevel set the stage for their profession and never can be duplicated….In the 70’s, if you knew of anyone having a Richard Pryor album, you were lucky because he was so raw our parents wouldn’t allow you to have one, Boomers know and appreciate his genius 💪
Growing up in the 1980s, I was only familiar with Richard Pryor through the numerous comedy films he did. I didn't see any of his stand ups until the 1990s and it was quite different. The films were family friendly flicks. His stand ups were not. Obviously he wasn't the only comedian to do it like that. It just surprised me is all. RIP Richard.
Eddie Murphy’s red, leather outfit in “Delirious” reminds me of Richard Pryor’s suit in this concert - although Eddie says that his leather outfit was bought at the last minute because his preferred suit got a stain on it.
