This dad drives the Odyssey and it’s literally my favorite Honda or Toyota I’ve ever owned. Performance is spectacular and it’s super comfortable and refined. I’ve owned it for two years and I’m bummed if I don’t drive it every day. Screw the SUV! This is my favorite vehicle.
I’ve had 2 Odysseys in the past (2000 and 2006), some of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned, both bought brand new. Great kid hauler, especially like we did taking kids from the team to their little league games and practices. Road trip vacations were also great in these and we always got at least the best fuel mileage they were rated at or better. So much room and the rear recessed bin is great for getting groceries or carrying sports equipment without stuff moving around back there. I’m retired but I was still considering the Odyssey again for it’s features, comfortable ride, price point, and all around dependability! The only thing I wish they had done was raise it off the ground a couple of inches. It seems to sit lower on the ground than I remember my others being. Thanks for the in-depth video!
We had a 2000 lx. We got it for 300 bucks and man was that a amazing deal. It had a dvd player in the back, it was in good condition. And the engine was just awesome. So many memories from that van. It finally broke down in 2012 and we got a 2013 ford escape. Now we are probably gonna trade that in for a new odyssey
The term “ soccer mom” killed the minivan. It’s a shame that people are that worried about what others say and think about them and especially over a car smh.
I got my wife a 2020 Ex for Xmas. The best vehicle for space and comfort. This van fit 6 kids, 2 car seats, 2 booster seats, 2 adults, a stroller, 3 book bags, and 6 folding chairs to go to a birthday party. Comfortably.
FYI - Sienna has been totally redesigned for 2021, including hybrid available, scheduled to come out in mid 2020. It's the only minivan available with AWD. When they add the Toyota hybrid, it will be a real game changer!

The throwback of Mason, my mind was absolutely blown of how skinny you were then 😮, still are now but wow you looked super young then. Anyhow, the exterior color of this Oydessy and its wheels look amazing.
The Toyota Sienna has been totally redesigned for 2021, including offering hybrid, scheduled to come out in mid 2020. I think this will be a real game changer in the minivan market. Right now, it's the only one that offers AWD. Add hybrid choice to that & I think their sales will increase! Most folks are not aware that the Toyota Sienna LE model is the only minivan to offer Auto Access Seat in the passenger row, which will accommodate a handicapped or elderly user. It turns towards the curb & slides/ lifts you out of your seat....A blessing for ease of use! (You might want to mention that in your next review.) As for outward styling, Toyota design is like the average pretty girl...she may not have the biggest boobs or the most shapely figure...but man! She sure can cook!! And she's been at the stove longer than anyone else!! 😁 Mason & Drew - Have a virtual Burger King on me! 🍔🍟🍔🍟
I hope honda will offered a 360 review camera option & a Black Edition trim & AWD option for the Honda odyssey for 2021 model year. Minivans rivals have that future. Including the all-new 2021 Chrysler Pacifica.
Put in a torque vectoring AWD in the Odyssey and we will have a winner... I bet a lot more people will go for a minivan with AWD :) than an SUV that cannot really carry seven people on a long trip.

My three complaints: no AWD or diesel, but I can live without those. My biggest complaint is moving the spare tire to the second row floorboard, and taking out the lazy Susan. It sucks having to unload the kids, and moving the seats around to get the tire out. Our 2006 Odyssey EX-L had 300k miles and our 2015 EX-L currently has 140k miles. Other than normal maintenance we’ve never had a problem. Best vehicle for cross country trips.
actually if you pay a dollar to delete a bench seat, gates honda can charge you more for the deletion of the bench seat. the legroom isn't that bad as the toyota sienna and the ford transit connect wagon. this will actually be perfect for my family!
Toyotas new tradition is the plastic front grille 😆😆😆😆😆😆 I prefer Honda vehicles over Acura vehicles and all other luxury and non-luxury vehicles. I know that Honda owns Acura but I just love Honda vehicles, Honda vehicles are the most beautiful in my eyes. So yeah, #HondaForLife !!!!!!!
I love how reliable my moms Camry is.... but it’s such a bad car! Poor quality! Cheap materials. Also in my town we have a Honda dealership and they give my school a 900 dollar Check every year! And this year I get to go and receive it with some friends
I hate how many cars are going the button route to switch from drive,reverse,parking brake. Nothing beats a column shifter or the center console shifter.
I like this van but I’d rather have a 2020 sienna I don’t like the push button instead of the old shifter the sienna still has that. A friend has a new odyssey and it had gone dead he couldn’t do anything not even put it in neutral if he would’ve needed it having the tech is great but no so good when it doesn’t work
One of my gripes with you both and other car reviewers always having the top model car. Not everybody can afford or wants one, your Highlander 2020 base model I really appreciated and went on the toyota site to see if the base came in the hybrid.... Just an observation maybe keep in mind for future all that bling doesn't impress everybodY!
Right. Totally understand that. The reason why we and most other reviewers go to the high end is because it's much easier to explain all the options a vehicle has when they are right there in front of you. Also, when we review basic models tons of people tend to complain. But we definitely appreciate the feedback 😊
For example, the 2019 Honda Odyssey EX and up does not have Auto High Beam Highlights I don't think any trim level comes with that feature. Its an amazing feature. Once you drive through a dark street, the high beams go on automatically. Thank you for adding that an amazing feature. I think the stance is too low for a minivan. Wish Honda would've raised the roof about three inches.. This would have made visibility/overall comfort much better. Don't like the entire dashboard/gauge cluster design. Wish the dashboard/gauge cluster were much more traditional (w/large knobs and manual controls) Also don't like the push button shifter - a traditional shifter would have been much better. Oh, and a natural (non turbo) V6 and regular (non-cvt) six speed transmission (that is reliable) would be just fine..

Electronic shifter sucks..... Dead battery means you can't shjft into neutral and your car is a sitting duck whereever you are, waiting to get towed. Many complaints since 2018 Hopefully they allow manual bypass shifting...otherwise nooe
So why have minivan sales declined so much that they're an endangered species? Despite (and to some extent because of) their reputation of appealing mainly to soccer moms, it's females who have killed off the minivan in favor of crossovers. (Research indicates, in fact, that men find the versatility of minivans more appealing than women.) How come? The answer is that crossovers offer a higher driver's height and the image (if not the reality) of greater strength (hence safety) and durability in crossovers with a longer distance from the "A" pillar to the front bumper. When my wife had a choice between replacing a minivan with a crossover, she had no hesitation in selecting a KIA Sorento. The Odyssey is undoubtedly an appealing choice in the shrinking minivan category. Honda does an excellent job of making interiors and features appealing to families. I do wonder, though, why Honda hasn't offered AWD in the Odyssey, especially since the platform shared with the Ridgeline could offer it easily. (Only the aging Toyota Sienna does offer it.) Having once owned an AWD Mazda MPV that managed to get itself out of a ditch on a snow filled ditch on an isolated logging road in the Washington Cascades, I have a lifelong fondness for that vehicle.

@@darienmiller1032 Thanks for that comment, Randy. Prompted me to look at some specs for the "Mugen." As you note, it's smaller than the American version of the Odyssey (190" vs 203" in length; 71" vs 78" in width) though the styling is similar. Makes it even more puzzling that Honda hasn't added AWD to the American version of the Odyssey.
The honda odyssey is the worst. I drive the odyssey in 2019. The car body is very thin, a stone can penetrate the body, the corners are very unstable, and the space for seat movement is small! Be careful, this is my sincere advice!
Don't be fooled by the look they have a lot of problems i own one the engine mount and the transmission mount they can't stand ones they get to 100 thousand miles prepare your self to many many hedden issues specially the shocks and struts plus air intake problem and so go on
Actually, it is the best looking van in the market. If you look at it from a frontal perspective, you can not telll it is a van. I don't have a big family, but as a 2nd car it is very practical and I will not feel unconfortable driving it. The only thing I don't like is that the 2nd row does not fold into the floor like the 3rd row.

I’ve had a 2013 odyssey that sadly got totaled. I’m buying a second odyssey too. It’s the 2020 ex.

I’m single and have no kids. Even I like minivans today. I like the look of the Sedona but the odyssey probably handles better

I'm still driving a 2012 EX. Didn't want the so called leather seats. I love the mini van's versatility. A little wind noise at highway speeds.
The panoramic sunroof is able to come with the rear entertainment. It's the middle seat seatbelt in the middle row.

More comfortable than an SUV but less towing capacity (3500 #’s). Works for me.

My 2020 Honda Odyssey had an axle transmission seal leak with under 600 mi on it.

@@darienmiller1032 Thanks for that comment, Randy. Prompted me to look at some specs for the "Mugen." As you note, it's smaller than the American version of the Odyssey (190" vs 203" in length; 71" vs 78" in width) though the styling is similar. Makes it even more puzzling that Honda hasn't added AWD to the American version of the Odyssey.

The honda odyssey is the worst. I drive the odyssey in 2019. The car body is very thin, a stone can penetrate the body, the corners are very unstable, and the space for seat movement is small! Be careful, this is my sincere advice!
Don't be fooled by the look they have a lot of problems i own one the engine mount and the transmission mount they can't stand ones they get to 100 thousand miles prepare your self to many many hedden issues specially the shocks and struts plus air intake problem and so go on

Actually, it is the best looking van in the market. If you look at it from a frontal perspective, you can not telll it is a van. I don't have a big family, but as a 2nd car it is very practical and I will not feel unconfortable driving it. The only thing I don't like is that the 2nd row does not fold into the floor like the 3rd row.
