Nothing on the three things I value most: ride quality, sound level, and reliability.
From our rentals, we found the Pacifica to be the most comfortable and quietist, but would not trust it for reliability (nearly every one we've rented has had problems). The Odyssey is a reliable car if you follow Honda's frequent maintenance rotation, and is the most fun to drive but the least comfortable and tied for nosiest. The Toyota will last forever and will need minimal work done, is boring to drive but comfortable, with average road noise. So: Pacifica is the best to rent, the Odyssey the best to borrow, and the Toyota the best to own.

Thank you so very much for being straightforward and efficient with your video.
I've been looking at the odyssey for a few weeks now, and there are many videos that run for 40-50 friggin minutes just to show the basics of an automobile.
You not only got me in and out in less than 15 minutes, but you also compared 2 others in the same allotted time.
    I love efficient people.

@@1CrazyDudeYoCompare to my 2005 Honda Odyssey ( let alone newer one), the Pacifica has many obvious deficiencies after few days driving along CA highway:
      1. Sloppy handing: on uneven road, the Pacifica has too much body movement/ sway that does not inspire fast driving
      2. Lazy Automatic transmission: even with more gears, the Pacifica is very slow to downshift for ramp entry
      3. Switch gears are clunky that betray low cost design
      4. Acceleration is below average even though on paper the Pacifica 3.6L V6 has same horse power/ torque as the Honda
This generation of Pacifica has similar behavior of the old Buick sedan or old Toyota Siena minivan

Basing fuel economy off a once in a blue moon road trip just isn't accurate. My 14 Escape with AWD and the 1.6 EcoBoost is rated at 22/29 and while I've seen 31 on a road trip, I'm seeing the lower number 99% of the time. High, and more importantly, consistent fuel economy that a hybrid offers seems so appealing.

Probably best bet is the Honda all around. Real world MPG is decent but reliable and Proven in Honda. Cheaper cost plus better space usage, better driving and Faster driving, simple proven 6 cylinder instead of contantly recalled turbos like Toyota. 2nd row bench seat much better Honda. And again its CHEAPER and dont have to worry about replacing expensive battery in the future. 🤔(Although I like some features in the Toyota plus mpg.)

Chrysler pacifica hybrid have 2021 a absolutely love it. I go anywhere between 750 and as much as 1000 miles between fillups. No other vehicle can come close to that.
I do a lot of local driving so I'm able to plug it in usually 3 times a week overnight. If you don't have access to electrical outlet in your garage or do alot of long distance drives you of course would not get as good gas mileage. But even without great gas mileage very smooth quiet running vehicle with plenty of room and I think best looking of 3 vans...

I like the Pacifica non-hybrid version for its cargo space, and I like the power of the engine. I recently drove my sister's 2014 Chrysler Town & Country which has basically the same engine and it drove get. It also has the stow and go seating like the Pacifica, was is great for a trip where you want to bring a bed with you (sleeping in the mini van).

We are a family of 5, my parents bought a 2020 pacifica hybrid (in 2020) and it is amazing. It is the first car that I have even driven (I am not an adult) and the seats are super comfortable. We can easily go from Montreal to Myrtle beach in South Carolina in a 2 day trip. The battery lasts for about 50km (which is about 31 miles) and recharges in like an hour.

If Chrysler didn’t have poor reliability, I’d choose it with its stow n’ go seats and handsome exterior styling. I’m worried the Pacifica will be discontinued due to it being the sole offering in the Chrysler lineup as Stellantis is looking to cut non profitable brands. Perhaps the Dodge Grand Caravan will make a comeback if Dodge sticks around or if Ram or Jeep will offer a minivan.
I hope Toyota listens to customers and makes the second row seats removable again as they ditched side airbags in the backseat of the new 2025 Camry. They can also offer the hybrid max powertrain for those who want more power in the Sienna.
The Odyssey is getting a refresh for 2025 but it’s actually underwhelming considering no new powertrain offerings to make it more efficient and not even offering the new V6 from the Pilot. The infotainment “upgrade” from 8” to 9” and wireless projection is lame considering the Accord has a 12.3” screen. Honda is being lazy and didn’t redesign the interior to accommodate the larger screen.

My 2018 Odyssey has had several electrical problems. There is a current recall for wiring issues in the rear. Rear seats that intermittently failed to close, rear view mirrors not holding settings. Now an intermittent NO START that did respond to a jump start even though the car had just completed a 70 mile trip as well as a battery inspection. We now have to carry a jump start module to insure that we can get home. Also my wife backed into a bush that left a hole in the "BUMPER". The transmission occasionally does a down shift right after turning down hill. On sharp turns in the parking lot it sometimes makes a sound and movement like we drove over a small curb. When braking, the front end sometimes exhibits a vibration that shakes the car and the steering wheel. This again is an intermittent happening. We were told it might be warped rotors, but it doesn't shake every time the brakes are used. All in All, we have had more problems with this car than either my 2003 VW TDI (200,000)or my 1997 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel pickup (300,000). We were told by a retired Honda employee that he would not buy any of the post 2000 Honda cars.

you must absolutely add to the odyssey: awd. pano-roof. 360-cam. timing chain. (no timing belt get rid of it. but non-turbo. turbo v4 is not good option. v6 naturally aspirated plus plugin with extra large battery) slow-traffic follow feature. built-in vacuum cleaner must be returned to the car. light-off-roading pack option. (with high clearance and some other light-off-roading features) also needed a additional extra front and other lights females have trouble to see at night (in comparison to men this is biology thing) and vans are driven by many females.

*Its about reliability to me.. Both Honda and Toyota have proved they are reliable.. I just dont like the drop of power with the hybrid engine in the toyota.. yes its reliable and toyota has been using this hybrid engine since 1997 with great reliability.. however we are talking minivans which means you probably want to travel with several ppl.. imo that loss of power will make a difference.. So I would choose Honda for this reason... Kia and Chrysler have failed the reliability test.. Both rarely last over 200k miles without having major issues by that time.*

      @DimitrijDaniel 4 місяці тому +7

From what I remember reading on forums, I gather that nation-wide the price difference is more like $6K - but still, the Odyssey is much cheaper than the Sienna.
An interesting question to ask perhaps is, "Why is the Odyssey cheaper"? With the average price of a new vehicle being $48K these days ....
And the most important money question is the total cost of ownership rather than the sale price. Gas savings are one thing, and also there are maintenance and repairs costs, and the resale value.
One last thing: Ni-MH battery replacement costs in Toyota hybrids are not a nightmare; first, these batteries are much smaller, second, they typically last for 250K miles without much deterioration, and the warranty covers them for 150K miles/10 years (unlike the lithium batteries in EV's). Third, they cost a fraction of what the lithium batteries do.

I still have PTSD from sending 2 Grand Caravans back to Chrysler under 2 states' Lemon Laws in the early/mid-90s so the Chrysler is out. The AWD from the Toyota is enticing but the inability to remove the 2nd row seats is a deal breaker. I am getting rid of a Honda Ridgeline and looking to get a minivan. The ability to load 4X8 sheet goods flat is a big thing. I have almost new winter tires on wheels that fit the Ridgeline so FWD is fine for all but the worst days in Vermont and New Hampshire where I live. Honda it is. For those mentioning the Kia...I also have PTSD from owning a Hyundai (if you don't think they're the same cars, you're uninformed) that was great for 3 years and then nothing but problems until we got rid of it - 3 sets of pads and rotors, 3 sets of struts in under 75K miles. They use crap materials.

@newlintodd while I am very happy that you've had good luck with it, you are an anomaly. For most of these vehicles, it would be on its fourth transmission by now and possibly its second or third engine. That is of course assuming someone decided to keep it on the road for 200,000 me as these failures continued to occur. I've known way too many people who were burned by Chrysler products, people who take good care of their cars by the way. I don't have any trust in the quality or reliability of their products.

Chrysler Pacifica is the best minivan to get now! Offers 4wd, powerful big V6 engine with plenty of muscle if you go with the gasoline, traditional transmission setup with the S Package added to the Touring L like my Dad got! Ours is fully loaded even has a built in vacuum cleaner which is something great to have on hand for quick detailing! Our second pick would have been the Kia Carnival but the Chrysler is best far as looks and performance, it's like driving a Sportscar instead of what it is being a minivan.

Just rented the 2024 Pacifica and I am not impressed by many aspects of the design:
    1. Sloppy handling. On uneven roads, the vehicle has too much vertical movement that gives impression of the unstable traction. It is like the good old Buick sedan
    2. Vague on center steering feel: too much play around the center position
    3. Lazy transmission downshift for acceleration
    4. Clunky switch gears, stalks feel
My old 2005 Honda Odyssey after 20 years of service still feel better than the Pacifica which is two years old on the above.
