Sienna is a good option if you are willing to wait like 12-19 months? Then once it's release they will give you a high interest rate.😅 Waiting for my Odyssey 2024 Touring , atleast Honda has a definite date of delivery
It is a good option. I so wish Toyota didn't force you to seven passenger seating in top trims. For my needs 8 passengers is much better but I also want the features of nicer trims.
don't forget Toyota dealer know that they car add ridiculous options because it's on high demand. I paid $45k Out of the door for 2024 Odyssey Sport in one day. Meanwhile you won't get 2024 Sienna with less than $50k if you are lucky.
What set the Sienna and this apart is the mpg and awd. IMHO, the mpg and awd is the deciding factor for me, something that the Odyssey can never duplicate coming off the lot. There is no hack, add-ons, or aftermarket parts that will make the Odyssey compared to Sienna's MPG and AWD, so Sienna wins.
Hey Drew and Mason, great review as always. I do have a question for you. Do you guys know how much quieter between sport and elite model due to the elite has acoustic glass all around. That is a part of benefits we pay more for the elite trim which I believe. Thanks again and keep producing great review videos lol🎉
So for 2024, no changes - other than a sporty-look trim, which does look nice. But otherwise, no reason to buy this. This is BAD for Honda. That means another year of Gen 5 @7yrs (Gen1 = 5yrs., Gen2 = 6, Gen3 = 6, Gen4 = 7). The Platform needs an upgrade which is hurting their sales. There's a lot to like about the Toyota Sienna. It's hybrid system is almost double the milage over the Odyssey. But I don't like the Sienna look. And worse, the 2nd row seat not being removable is the #1 reason they lose that sale from me. There are times I need to pull a 2nd row out to fit a bike or a 70" TV, or move stuff. I still DO NOT like the Honda Push-buttons. Bring back the gear shifter like the 2017 and older models. Overall-automatic shifters are generally dangerous without that "mechanical" feedback of what you're doing + the effort to shift. I'll stick with the 2016 model. The gear shifter is a reason I want the Toyota. The 2nd-row climate controls on the passenger side make more sense to parents and passengers. My previous Odyssey (3rd gen) has them on the drive side. Why? When there is an adult or older child passenger or just one kid. The driver HAS them in the passenger side so we can TALK to them, reach them, hand them things, etc. We can hear the person to our side than directly behind us with a big seat. So my kid, when younger - would have to get out of the seat to adjust. But that's a hassle or safety issue. So he would have to TELL me what he wants, rather than doing it himself... which both of us would prefer. This change happened in the 4th gen. So if Honda wants to compete with Toyota, they need to step of their game. 1 - All EV and/or Hybrid versions. Hybrid is more important, especially for long drives. 2 - Traditional gear shifter = safer. Especially with powered doors and kids. 3 - AWD for people who want that. 4 - Don't copy Toyota's flaws. Like non-removable seats... or being very bumpy when the 3rd row is folded down. Or the ugly huge grills. 5 - Copy some aspects of the 5th Gen Japanese/Chinese Honda.* This includes a dashboard with circle dials, or give driver a choice of circles or bar. * Odyssey is no longer made in Japan for East Asian markets. They are built in China. They are NICER than the American-made Odyssey. While they switched to push-button gear shifter on 5th gen on the refresh, it looks nicer. It's closer to the driver and smaller, compared to the oddly big thing in the middle. It's a cleaner dashboard, Many of the "2024 Odyssey Preview" or speculation vids on YT are showing the Chinese version. It has a stubby nose, but otherwise looks like a USA Odyssey. It has a hybrid engine setup, but for the Asian markets, they don't need or desire the 280HP of the American market. It's also about 12 inches shorter and 7 inches narrower for their smaller roads. My guess, Honda is trying out their tech in Japan & China. The international version is NOT the same thing in the USA. If Honda wants to stay in the game, they MUST have a Gen6 for 2025. They are not competing well with Toyota, who has a waiting list. Anyone with older Odysseys should wait. Perhaps this is also why Honda was silent about the 2024 model, because the USA Gen6 wasn't ready. It was easy to make a new front bumper, change a few color options and call it a day. That was lazy on Honda.
Looked at website. You need to add trim level to sound level readings for proper comparison. Based on your channel estimate 59 decibels for exl or sport and 54.5 decibels for elite with side acoustic glass.
Doesn’t look like enough changes to justify upgrading from my 2019. Was really hoping there would be hybridization by now, but Honda is slow and stubborn as always. If 2025 isn’t the year, I’m going to have to go in a different direction.
Only thing added is all models come with 10 speed transmission, sunroof and charging ports in 2nd row. Touring and elite have charging ports in 3rd row. No body changes or engine changes since 2018
The features the mini van offers is nice but I feel the design is starting to show its age. Especially seeing every other Honda Vehicle getting a redesign. I definitely hope the Oddessy is next!! It has always been one of my favorite Mini Vans.
It’s funny they say you can remove the middle seat for captains and stuff. However, you can technically remove any seat in any car if you have all day lol. However. I’d keep it in there. You never know. And it’s pretty much a captain seat when the cup holders are down minus the being able to walk down the aisle .. or crawl.. if you need something from the back and it’s pouring rain outside and you don’t wanna go outside.
I disagree, minivan hybrid wouldn't make sense as it currently is designed, added weight, you would loose storage room (gotta put that battery somewhere). I don't see a hybrid system adding much mpg with the current design
Hello! What do you think about Grand Highlander vs. Odyssey Touring? I normally travel with 3 adults and 1 baby or more. I love everything about the Odyssey, but there are 4 minor things I don't like. 1. There is no panoramic sunroof. 2. The design of the headphones, screen, USB ports, and other elements looks too old compared to the design of the Grand Highlander. 3. I'm worried about driving a two-wheel drive in Toronto. 4. Power sliding doors usually cause problems. I'd like to hear your opinion.
Thank you for the review. I'm looking forward to get the new 2024 Odyssey EXL to replace my existing 2007 Odyssey EXL with 282K miles on it. This is great video.
When someone asks me what I'd recommend for the best family minivan, the first one that comes to mind is always the Kia Carnival. I often forget Honda (even Toyota at times) still make family haulers.
@@juanr.3314 - Enlighten us. The Carnival doesn't have weak transmissions like the Odyssey. Doesn't have oil burning/consumption problems and electrical gremlins that show up before 100-120K miles like on the Sienna. And has the lowest cost of ownership compared to the Sienna, Odyssey and Pacifica 🏆
Imagine asking a friend for a minivan opinion because you can't be bothered to research the (checks notes)...4 choices.... and that person giving the advice isn't familiar with the 2 most popular models. The internet exists, yet people are still like this.
the only Reliable minivan that is not hybrid. Toyota Sienna minivan are all hybrid, you can't buy none hybrid sienna anymore, you'll have to find a used one if you want a none hybrid sienna or buy a new Honda minivan.
Honda i love upu but why use the old pilot dash with only digital speed rather than digital gauges with more engine ifo and a real tach, temp, oil pressure, etc and the small infotainment screen? When will u bring the shifter back and add a 360 camera? The best thing honda has done is nof add huge baleen whale grill like hyundai toyota or lexus. Glad its a basic smaller grill
Hi fellows. I've watched your videos for years and must say you do a great job! We are a Honda family having purchased our first one (Accord) in 1986. We have owned 5 Odyssey's since their first "large" one in 1999. Traded our '18 for a 20 Pilot for towing reasons. However, we REALLY miss the smoother ride of the Odyssey. Can you comment on riding on their 18 inch wheels compared to their 19 inch? Is there much difference? We want Nav & entertainment for grandchildren so must go with Touring but have read it rides rougher on their 19 inch wheels. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you! While it may ride a few % rougher technically if you tested it back-to-back with an 18-inch wheel, we find that the Odyssey rides like a cloud with either wheel option. The comfort of the ride exceeds many luxury vehicles so we're sure you would be satisfied with the Tourings ride.
Sienna and pacifica are the better options this people at honda aren’t bringing anything new to the table in the minivan dpt. Is like apple just changing or adding one thing per release year 😂😂😂😂. Sienna or pacifica people and i drive a honda . That how frustrating it is
that sound test / speaker review was pretty shit. If customers are going to be spending countless hours driving 200,000-300,000km in the thing they might want to know how the speakers sound compared to the competition.
ETA on the 2025 Odyssey review? Particularly the Elite and a breakdown of how it compares to the other trims, and a future comparison video between updated minivans (Odyssey vs Sienna vs Carnival) as well as Odyssey vs three rows (Pilot, GH, Telly)
Thanks for this great video. Is it possible in 2024 model to take out (unscrew) all 2. and 3. row seats without any airbag issues like in Toyota Sienna?
This is a top contender for us, but I wish they'd copy Chrysler's stow and go seats. We often use our minivans for cargo and dogs, but taking these seats in and out and finding room to store them is a real negative.
There is a tradeoff here. The Honda second row seats are much more comfortable than the thinly padded Chrysler seats. So, if you carry adults in the back seats, you want the Honda.
i have a 2009 odyssey and i won't change it in. i really, really, really don't want all those 'assist" controls. nope, no way, nada. wish there was a way to turn them off and i'd buy another odyssey. when i buy a car, i want to make the choices of how the car is driven... not the car.... good grief.
Yeah. As stated by some people,. the later models have switched to PARK by itself while driving on the street. = steering wheel locks up too. I dislike the push-buttons, naa, I hate them. As more cars go electric, and computerized, we won't have those choices. A typical car has about 15~20y life span.
yea it's getting nuts. my hubs has 2 new vehicles... one is a truck... every time he turns it on, the radio comes on.... it's a set feature.....and you can't just turn it down when you stop the thing... nope, radio comes on. i often wonder about those who have sleeping babies and getting into the truck... sheesh. he also got a mazda that every time to turn off, the emergency brake sets... ugh. and that bloody cruise control has a mind of it's own.... i declare it's gonna cause whiplash to some folks. he was turning into a store parking area and in the middle of the turn the car in front stopped to let a car out and man, the brakes came flying down and it was unnecessary. we are having to learn how to drive differently.... we are used to the way a human drives but these new cars and their adjusting to the car ahead is dif than what a human usually does and really messes w/the brain of thinking how normal car flow happens. just ugh. @@TexasCat99
@@CarefulSteps1 that radio on thing can't be a feature. What a PITA. How hard is it to remember what mode the radio was on. On or off, exhiliary or FM, etc... Slamming of the brakes with the auto avoidance system... Yeah, that can be a good thing. The concept is good but it needs to be smart. Slamming hard at a bad time can result in being rear-ended. This is a bad problem with drive by wire cars. As much electronics and computers are in regular ICE cars, the steering, acceleration and brakes are mechanical. And yes they can fail or human error... We get that. People crashed their cars by putting them in the wrong gear. We all do it sooner or later, usually without crashing. But it's a different thing, when the car does something on its own. Stopping, uncontrolled acceleration, steering going dead or worse going in another direction by itself. Making the cars very complicated with software creates major points of failure. Now we have cars with video game type steering. The more you turn, the more it turns the wheel. There's no rotation. It can do some pretty cool stuff that you can't do with a steering wheel. But there's no feedback. You have to trust that what you see out the windshield matches what you're doing. If that fails at 60+ mph that would be bad. Maybe the bugs will be worked out in 10 years. They have to.
one can hope. meanwhile, i'm sticking w/the old stuff. heck have found the same w/appliances..... give me the old stuff... have a washer that is still doing great. @@TexasCat99
The Elite model has better front glass and is quieter than the Sport model. I’m not sure which models of the competitors were tested so this could be an “apples and oranges” comparison.
Honda not having a hybrid minivan yet is mind-boggling. The sienna is worse in a few convenience features but a 14mpg DIFFERENCE more than makes up for it. Even chrysler has a hybrid van! WTF Honda!

It's a cleaner dashboard,
Many of the "2024 Odyssey Preview" or speculation vids on YT are showing the Chinese version.
That was lazy on Honda.
you must be a woman I aint reading all that shid, get a life
Safety ratings on both the Sienna and Odyssey are also lacking. I little nerve wracking to put your kids in that back seat....
well presented, these guys are professionals!
Thank you!
Cool video.
Honda is still the leader and its not close.
I had this model and within 300 miles transmission started slipping. I traded it in for new sienna and I love it.
Love my 2023 touring it’s amazing. And mega powerful.
I can’t believe they made no significant changes for 2024. I was hoping for an lol new design with hybrid.
If you want hybrid, buy Toyota, because most of the toyota cars will be hybrid in the future.
But sienna’s interior look just so tacky. I can’t get over that.
Fantastic review as always!
Looked at website. You need to add trim level to sound level readings for proper comparison. Based on your channel estimate 59 decibels for exl or sport and 54.5 decibels for elite with side acoustic glass.
The petrol Honda Jazz/Fit was just a miniaturised version of Odyssey.
No body changes or engine changes since 2018
Thankfully, it still has a v6 engine.
Hondas my favorite brand but now no hybrid is a huge disappointment
I disagree, minivan hybrid wouldn't make sense as it currently is designed, added weight, you would loose storage room (gotta put that battery somewhere). I don't see a hybrid system adding much mpg with the current design
Ur crazy its better not having hybrid
I would really love to have Honda make a hybrid one.
Same here
Hi! The Grand Highlander is as close to a minivan as you can get without actually getting one
Best car review I have seen recently
Thank you!
I bought a new 2023 last June. Best minivan out there, yes better than Toyota Sienna since sienna went hybrid.
Thank you for the review. I'm looking forward to get the new 2024 Odyssey EXL to replace my existing 2007 Odyssey EXL with 282K miles on it. This is great video.
Thanks and good luck with the future Odyssey purchase!
When someone asks me what I'd recommend for the best family minivan, the first one that comes to mind is always the Kia Carnival. I often forget Honda (even Toyota at times) still make family haulers.
I hated how the transmission of the carnival drove
Kia??😂😂😂 the most unreliable minivan in the market
@@MrNb131 - You sound very butthurt.
My 2018 EXL is the best van. Hands down
the only Reliable minivan that is not hybrid.
Great review. Can you compare the highest trim levels of the 2024 Honda odyssey to the 2024 kia carnival?
20:39 I found Odyssey to be way quieter of a ride than the Sienna....🤔 Like quite significant difference...
Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica is the only minivan that comes with awd 😮
Honda ❤
The sienna holds the top lead. Odyssey have timing belt. Sienna has timing chain. Would always go with the chain.
To give the real cargo space go from the back of the seat not the front seat but the middle seat
“I’m gonna fight you now!”
“Hahaha oh are you?!” (Gets punched)
ETA on the 2025 Odyssey review? Particularly the Elite and a breakdown of how it compares to the other trims, and a future comparison video between updated minivans (Odyssey vs Sienna vs Carnival) as well as Odyssey vs three rows (Pilot, GH, Telly)
They're not yet available at dealers but they should be soon. And we look forward to covering it 👍
@@CarConfections go to diarrhea land
Great review Drew and Mason. What's Honda's future for the popular Odyssey Minivan?
Thanks! Based on spy shots, it might be getting some updates next year
Thanks for letting me know
Thanks for this great video. Is it possible in 2024 model to take out (unscrew) all 2. and 3. row seats without any airbag issues like in Toyota Sienna?
Sure is
This is a top contender for us, but I wish they'd copy Chrysler's stow and go seats.
After driving a new Honda Accord with all the driving assist options I much more enjoyed my 20+ year old V6 Honda Accord
Hopefully they fixed all their electrical problems. Our 2019 Odyssey Elite has been nothing but problems left and right.
3:50 " Honda has you covered when the kids start throwing hands"🤣 thank you Honda! Because my kids definitely throw fits, hands, and sippy cups!🤣
It is a shame that you can't order the Sport version with Elite's amenities.
The Elite model has better front glass and is quieter than the Sport model. I’m not sure which models of the competitors were tested so this could be an “apples and oranges” comparison.
Does the Elite trim have a lower decibel reading due to the acoustic glass?
That's a great question, would love to know that as well, the older O get, the more it annoys me😅
Best in class, I miss my 2021 black edition in Canada
Is it just me but does this look like a larger and longer Honda Fit from the late 90s?
people buying sienna is because it is good for Van life. is this also suitable to do the conversion?
This will outsell their 6th-generation CR-V and Step Wagon. They've messed those lineups for good.
Honda not having a hybrid minivan yet is mind-boggling. The sienna is worse in a few convenience features but a 14mpg DIFFERENCE more than makes up for it. Even chrysler has a hybrid van! WTF Honda!
toyota cost like 10 k more tho
@@be4unvme Just looked it up...their costs are almost identical. Both start at $37k and top out at $50k. Are you saying Toyota dealers are selling way above MSRP? The market right now is insane and I'm sitting out things normalize.
Love to see how this vehicle handles mountains driving in the CO areas. Thoughts?
i feels like i am looking a very old vehicle from 90's, Sienna❤ laughing from the corner 😄
Uhhh...not really. Dont get it
@@beebop4333She’s talking about the outer body which does resemble the Sienna models
the new sienna looks terrible. this doesnt look much better to be honest though. that new sienna has that “trying too hard”/“mid life identity crisis” vibe
The driver gauge cluster is the same on my 2020 PIlot and the 2020 Odyssey - and the same on the 2018 models, so this is an ancient design, as well as the center infotainment screen! Com on Honda…You are way behind!
Sienna is ugly and has no V6 anymore. Oh and seats are uncomfortable
Can you do a comparison with the 2024 Honda Odyssey and the 2024 Honda Pilot? I need help choosing for a 5 people family. Thanks!
Is Honda running out of innovation? Atleast, just few basic features, 360 view cam, display , safety system and etc ?
it's a Honda, can't expect it but maybe from Toyota or Lexus
How many miles on the gas tank?
I would really love for Acura to make a van
The sunshade thing is stupid they should offer in the 3rd in every trim.
When will you get the new Kona to test? I'm seeing them at dealerships now
We are driving it today lol. Stay tuned!
@@CarConfections perfect timing! Lol
I wish the Elite had the look of the Sport. I have a '23 Elite, but I hate all of the chrome.
What is the ground clearance?
1- as a pharmacist, I appreciate the Xanax joke🤣🤣
2- how is Honda putting a steering wheel on any 2024 model that looks like it came right off of a 2012 CRV 💀
If the van can't fly, then it better be hybrid and get 50 mpg in this day and age. I mean a flying car is already approved by the FAA.. Minivan needs to get better. SUV came out later and has evolved to 100x better. And where is the vacuum?!
Nice and comfortable ride, but definitely looks dated front and back it’s like we’re stepping back in time..still buttons galore tiny screen and boring simple dash display.
