Not really. They are horrible in the snow and on rutted roads. They can be hard to park. They don’t handle well. They tow less. They get worse mpg etc etc. SUVs are superior. The minivan and sedan segments won’t be around by 2025.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q " They are horrible in the snow and on rutted roads" Vans do just fine in the snow with good tires, and more of them are getting AWD, this point is wildly exaggerated. They have a LOT of weight over the wheels too, which is great for traction. Rutted road performance is whatever, minivans offer enough off road performance for most buyers needs, crossovers generally don't offer much more off road utility. "They can be hard to park" Compared to compact, subcompact crossovers and smaller mid sized? Yes, of course they're harder, they're bigger vehicles. Compared to full sized crossovers? Hell no, they're arguably easier due to the fact they have lower, and shorter hoods, and it's easier to see what's in front of you. Compared to full size SUVs like Tahoes, Esclades and Expeditions? minivans are much easier to park then those big beasts. "They don’t handle well" They sure as hell out handle the fuck out of most full sized SUVs and full sized crossovers. Ever drive a Mazda 5? "They tow less" Sure, but most minivan owners don't tow, so manufacturers don't bother tuning them for greater towing capabilities. It would be nice to see minivans reach 5,000 pounds though, up from 3,500. "They get worse mpg " They get way better MPG than full sized SUVs, and comparable MPG to full sized crossovers. The pacifica hybrid is getting 32 MPG, which full sized SUV/crossover is matching that? "SUVs are superior" They tow better, and have a little more ground clearance, that's it. Every where else, vans are better from handling, seating comfort, MPG, cargo hauling capability, ingress and egress, family friendliness with sliding doors, ease of use for disabled people, etc. Vans theoretically could do everything an SUV can, but SUVs can't do everything a van can, vans inherently have a more flexible body style.
Minivans are only good when new. After a while those doors begin to have expensive issues closing and opening. They're ok in the snow. Not better than a 4wd SUV with clearance but certainly capable in a city that is prepared.

Honda has stepped up their game. I rented a 2004 odyssey to take a 5hr trip upstate and it was sooo uncomfortable, my back hurt the entire time. Not to mention the interior was ALL hard plastic, Honda’s come a long way
Vans have always got bad rep cause of the "soccer mom" image. But they're more functional than SUVs anyday. I'd drive a Sienna SE, Odyssey, or Pacifica wit the S package all day.
Peter Shepherd if you think about it, SUV’s are the new “socccer mom” vehicles. Problem is, people with low self esteem always need to look cool for other people.
Daniel Rosas probably why some SUV drivers are single and have no friends? I get friends because i just keep it real and be myself. People are so corny about image

(Less stress on there back on long run) odyssey has good options on the van. “Getting for daughter has two kids” 👍💯video💯👍
It's truly a crime, but less so in the Odyssey since it's up there with the touch screen so you don't need to look down and see what you're about to press
Mini van ride is great , space is great , but new Odyssey which have earth dream engine they have bunch of issues , all earth dream engines have small to big issues which placing people away , not sure might possible Honda still using trimming belt in v6 engines ..
Wait. What?! $48,000?! Wow. The line on the rear quarter window reminds me of a hearse. Ugh, the lobster claw/stapler taillights with the chrome... It's a bit much. Fun fact: This 2019 Honda Odyssey is quicker from 0-60 mph than a 1984 Corvette.
We have only owned one Honda the motor would go and go over 300.000 kilometres on the clock but the body was garbage! It rusted out real quick, hope that’s improved with the new models.

Hey I could have told you that. Grand video though.. On my 4th Oddy. Got a 2016 EXL NAVI. No kids just me. It's my pick up truck, tows my Honda Fury Motorcyle, takes me wherever I want to go fully loaded. Gets great fuel economy as stated and either in excess of that 28 MPG if your reasonable with your right foot but not so good if your hard on the throttle and the iVTEC KICKS IN. WHEN THE iVTECK KICKS IN, and fully loaded when passing and hauling the FURY it'll pass most anything and I'll do that to lock out idiots that want to try and squeeze in when I'm running with traffic in the passing lane . Bought the 2016 as it was supposed to be the last year of the Odyssey's 6 year production cycle. Made a 2017 version as the Oddy your viewing ( 2017 5th Gen) was delayed. 1 thing though the NAVI sux. It's poor and was when they 1st introed it on the Oddy, Ridgeline, Pilot and Acura MDX etc. Garmin dash mount blows it away so I don't use the Oddy NAVI at all. However the vehicle is primo, 3rd gen Oddy though had better interior panels and floor carpeting. So I can drive the 16 forever. It doesn't visit a dealer cept for warranty and the odd recall, do all my own maintenance using Honda genuine parts and fluids. You must do a complete ATF change if you want the AT to live as partial fluid changes (Honda) recommended don't cut it. Honda's automatic trannys are greatly misunderstood as they are a Honda proprietary Automatic transmission. Cloth seats are superior to the leather my opinion as in comfort and maintenance , however need leather to get power lift gate, moon roof options etc. AND BTW: I installed the trailer hitch, transmission cooler, roof rack and cross bars, hood deflector, door edge guards, color match body side moulding, window reflectors and the Honda winter floor mat package. So here's my deal, Honda made it's own 9 and 10 speed automatic transmission. I'm watching this and the electronics close. If I buy the current generation which is the 5th Gen I'll buy the last year of production that being the 2022 version as all the gremlins and bugs should be ironed out and gone. The 2016 version is phenomenal , cept for the owners manual which is bereft of the info found in the 2011 ~ 2013 versions. Why is that? No info on how to check ATF. Incomplete info as with previous models. But if you download a 2013 owners manual it contains what they left out, I'm die Hard Honda and critical as hell when they get off track or intro a new version of a model that doesn't fulfill the outgoing models history or improve on that. Used to be that a 1st year new model was ok out of the gate, however cost constraints and fierce competition dictate quality somewhat. But for my money and over 1/2 a century of Honda product experience the Odyssey is the best overall vehicle Honda makes. It's by far the best V6 as in fuel economy and even performance. It'll haul 8 passengers and still deliver, but if your going to load it like that invest in a transmission cooler. Breaking performance is great but brake rotor material is so so, however the brake pads are superb. Again my opinion, just drove a new 2019 Toyota Siena LE. It's ok but can't come close to the Odyssey and that's my 2016 EXL NAVI. Yet if Honda quit making the Odyssey I'd purchase a Toyota van as that's the only competition and no one else is close.
Makes wonder if they have any fixes on the huge issues the new odyssey has, such as the RES freezing up all the time and the front screen also, and also the sliding door issues where it won’t close all the way at times, so you have to manually close it.
If I had a bunch of kids to haul around, this is what I’d buy. I think the taillights look like two lobster claws playing tug of war with the chrome strip.🤔 Good job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
What the auto industry really needs is an SUV with sliding doors!! 😎 For now, minivans rule. Sienna or Odyssey, you can’t go wrong with either! And this is coming from a father of two. I have no psychological issues admitting minivans are far more practical than any SUV 👍🏻
Love the odyssey. Have one know looking at this one elite is amazing but does it come with or have the option of remote start wife really want that if not not sure she will buy one .. Looked at Toyota sienna but old style to blah Honda is where it's at

"They can be hard to park"
Compared to compact, subcompact crossovers and smaller mid sized? Yes, of course they're harder, they're bigger vehicles. Compared to full sized crossovers? Hell no, they're arguably easier due to the fact they have lower, and shorter hoods, and it's easier to see what's in front of you. Compared to full size SUVs like Tahoes, Esclades and Expeditions? minivans are much easier to park then those big beasts.
"They don’t handle well"
They sure as hell out handle the fuck out of most full sized SUVs and full sized crossovers. Ever drive a Mazda 5?
"They tow less"
Sure, but most minivan owners don't tow, so manufacturers don't bother tuning them for greater towing capabilities. It would be nice to see minivans reach 5,000 pounds though, up from 3,500.
"They get worse mpg "
They get way better MPG than full sized SUVs, and comparable MPG to full sized crossovers. The pacifica hybrid is getting 32 MPG, which full sized SUV/crossover is matching that?
"SUVs are superior"
They tow better, and have a little more ground clearance, that's it.
#Joe I'm not a fan of Honda but I gotta say it's not often u can buy a minivan that has a mean sounding engine. Honda did a great job on the Odyssey
Thanks for letting me share this one with you Mike!
You're welcome
Thanks we bought EXL w/o Navigation today!
Congrats! I appreciate you watching!
Excellent review as always and that vtec crossover sounds amazing👍🏼
Minivans are only good when new. After a while those doors begin to have expensive issues closing and opening. They're ok in the snow. Not better than a 4wd SUV with clearance but certainly capable in a city that is prepared.
My mom and dad just got one today so nice looks like a space ship
How can people not like sliding doors? Funny how tesla makes a big deal about the door opening clearance of the model x.
I totally agree with you!
that's so cool and funny great job Joe n Lori love you both so much, love how my day started off being upset n when I watch ur channel n makes me feel better in my heart god bless brother ur the best
Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!
god bless brother n thank you so much Joe it really means a lot have a great n wonderful n safe 4th
You to my friend!
If you had 5 or 6 kids (god forbid) you couldn’t go wrong buying this over an SUV. This is a purdy nice mini van if I say so myself. Great review Joe!
I am the oldest of 6 LOL! Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
Raiti's Rides I’m second oldest of 4. Couldn’t imagine another 2 in the house. Kudos! Lol You made some hilarious comments in this review! Thanks for the laughs!
I have zero kids and want this van.
Well, officially time to trade in our 2016 Odyssey.
As a minivan guy: I'd buy this one day Joe.
That is so very awesome!
You convinced me to switch over to the odyssey, I currently own a 2016 Sorento but You made me think about telling my hubby it’s time for a trade
Thanks for letting me share this one with you! It is really amazing!
I traded from a Sorento and it’s 👌🏻
Hello Joe I don't like minivans but hey it's a review and its Raitis Rides. Oh by the way still looking forward for the 2019 Toyota Camry XSE V6 review. Thanks Joe.
Thanks for watching it all! I do true to bring the variety.
This is my favorite minivan
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Honda has stepped up their game. I rented a 2004 odyssey to take a 5hr trip upstate and it was sooo uncomfortable, my back hurt the entire time. Not to mention the interior was ALL hard plastic, Honda’s come a long way
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
My wife wants an SUV, but I've been trying to sell her on a minivan. She refuses to be seen in one....... Yet she currently drives a Mazda5. 🤔
😂😂😂
Minivans are more practical than suvs and will save you WAY MORE OFTEN in price, space, and value trust me
@@davidlegkodukh6969 amen.
The odyssey is a beautiful minivan. I cant see how one wouldn't want to be seen in one.
Get her to drive this thing!
You did an Awesome job with the perspective on the exterior accents
Thanks for saying that it really means a lot!
Vans have always got bad rep cause of the "soccer mom" image. But they're more functional than SUVs anyday. I'd drive a Sienna SE, Odyssey, or Pacifica wit the S package all day.
I totally agree with you Peter!
Peter Shepherd if you think about it, SUV’s are the new “socccer mom” vehicles. Problem is, people with low self esteem always need to look cool for other people.
@@danielrosas7550 good point there. So many are afraid of the opinions of others nowadays. I'll never understand it. Lol.
Daniel Rosas probably why some SUV drivers are single and have no friends? I get friends because i just keep it real and be myself. People are so corny about image
That Rubbermaid line had me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you!
all they need to make it even better is AWD, I have a 2007 and it's been to FL from Boston 6 times :-) great vehicle.
😂 yes I do remember the old days that we have to carry map. We’re lucky now we have gps. Joe I was planning to go Honda dealership tomorrow and go check out odyssey and u got the video out. I have to go purchase one. Odyssey is a great mini van for moms. Very good for kids to go in and out also mom putting baby in and out easier. (Less stress on there back on long run) odyssey has good options on the van. “Getting for daughter has two kids”
👍💯video💯👍
Very good points Jin!
The Honda Odyssey is a great vehicle that is very quiet and rides more like a car than any other van I know of.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
Super happy with my odyssey... it's been 3 months now since i got it and it'a way way better than my Grand Caravan.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing that info!
Honda is Makes great cars, but I’m not really like the push button gear shifting.
Agree I still prefer the traditional P R N & D shifter that you can intuitively use without looking
It's truly a crime, but less so in the Odyssey since it's up there with the touch screen so you don't need to look down and see what you're about to press
I hated it at first but it really is growing on me!
@@limpunsing224 this is true but you could condition yourself to used the buttons.
@@MoistChungus So very true!
This guys is in really good shape for someone who is always talking about SNACKS!
Thanks for letting me share some snack laughs with you!
I have a 95 Odyssey I love. 200k plus miles. While I think minivans are superior. They are not interchangeable.
Very comprehensive review.....thanks
You are so very welcome! I really appreciate you watching!
I'm not a minivan fan but it looks nice inside
AGREED!
Just wish they would add all wheel drive.
Hopefully, Honda fixed the reliability trouble in their transmissions.
This is true!
Rear seats don't fold down into the trunk space and second row doesn't fold into the floor?
J P Honda Odyssey does fold down in trunk!
Mini van ride is great , space is great , but new Odyssey which have earth dream engine they have bunch of issues , all earth dream engines have small to big issues which placing people away , not sure might possible Honda still using trimming belt in v6 engines ..
Thanks for your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
I love my 2019 odyssey! I used to drive a durango. This mini van has so much space! 😉
Had mine for 10 months now. No problem at all. Saves a lot of gas on the highway!
Looks better than the Toyota Sienna in my opinion
nope the Toyota sienna looks way better than the honda
@@carholic-sz3qv Especially the SE trim level.
@@carholic-sz3qv fuck no
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Wait. What?! $48,000?! Wow. The line on the rear quarter window reminds me of a hearse. Ugh, the lobster claw/stapler taillights with the chrome... It's a bit much. Fun fact: This 2019 Honda Odyssey is quicker from 0-60 mph than a 1984 Corvette.
@luvluca toni And yet, still a fun fact. By the way, I'd love to see that! 😂
@luvluca toni Haha. 👍
Thanks for sharing that great info!
@luvluca toni LMAO!
@@JJ-ls7fq SAME!!!!!
I have 2004 odyssey and still kicking
Talk about the technology man for all that money. We need to know if there's a parking assist etc...
Isaiah Depp there isn’t any parking assist other than sensors.
Why would anyone need parking assist? Anyone can park without parking assist
We have only owned one Honda the motor would go and go over 300.000 kilometres on the clock but the body was garbage! It rusted out real quick, hope that’s improved with the new models.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
Why do the dealers add stripes on all the cars? I hate those
So they can make an additional $300 at the buyers expense
They add extra costs to the car. :-(
@@FilthyFauci EXACTLY!
That Oddysey Looks Awsome. Could You do a Video Comparing the Oddysey vs the Pacifica with the S Appearance Package? That Black Out Package with those 20 inch Black Rims makes that Van look Awsome. Love those Stow and Go Seats on the Pacifica, and the DVD Screens on the 2nd Row. Great Job Joe and Keep Up those Great Reviews.
I am glad that I could share this one with you Ricardo!
@@RaitisRides it's always a pleasure to see your reviews Joe. Any Chance You will do more Minivan Reviews? Maybe a Cheysler Pacifica Review?
I own an Older Model Town and Country. Love that Van, especially when I Coach Soccer. But Sadly it might be time to Upgrade it. On the Possitive Side, these New Van's are Awsome.
Your review is fun and informative
Thank you for saying that and for letting me share it with you!
Heard about some guy in my area who races people with his Odyssey first to see if they're worth bringing out the big guns 😂
That is freaking awesome!
Joe does it come with dealer installed bra?
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Makes wonder if they have any fixes on the huge issues the new odyssey has, such as the RES freezing up all the time and the front screen also, and also the sliding door issues where it won’t close all the way at times, so you have to manually close it.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
ive been driving mini vans for over 30 years and i get get stuff in and out of it and a lot quicker and dryer than the new so called pick up trucks
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Did they get rid of VCM yet? That's what really ruined the Odyssey.
That is a great question!
We need an all wheel drive Odyssey’s in the stare of Pennsylvania!
Tat is a great point!
If I had a bunch of kids to haul around, this is what I’d buy. I think the taillights look like two lobster claws playing tug of war with the chrome strip.🤔 Good job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for always watching no matter what I am bringing to the table!
If you could fit a small motorcycle in there; it’s a must buy.
AGREED!
What the auto industry really needs is an SUV with sliding doors!! 😎 For now, minivans rule. Sienna or Odyssey, you can’t go wrong with either! And this is coming from a father of two. I have no psychological issues admitting minivans are far more practical than any SUV 👍🏻
That is such a great point!
Is there a usb charge port in the third row or was that a 12v socket?
Love the odyssey. Have one know looking at this one elite is amazing but does it come with or have the option of remote start wife really want that if not not sure she will buy one .. Looked at Toyota sienna but old style to blah Honda is where it's at
Thanks for sharing your great input and perspective!
I drive a 2019 Elite. Remote start is standard on this trim.
Gonna have to zonk, blam, boom, pow, and zing.
Gotta do what you gotta do! ;-)
The only thing the mini van does not have is 4 wheel drive... if it did, I'd be interested.
still in love with my old one lol......
More minivan reviews! Trying to decide on one 🤔
Thanks Gina! I will head over to Chrysler!
Be honest, buy Toyota Sienna. They give you lifetime warranty and 2 years or 25000 mile free service. Toyota makes great car.
Tahoes are so over ratted but this this is what takes everything to a new level
😂i have a 2015 EXL over 70k miles everything is good never repair just change tire and oil
Do a review of the Toyota previa
Look way nicer than the Pilot and the Passeport. Way more practical than the Pilot and the Passeport. Way cheaper than the Pilot and the Passeport. Way more exotic than the Pilot and the Passeport(that’s because most people buy SUV and crossovers)!
Has Honda solved the insidious trans problems that has plagued all Odysseys for the last 10 years?
