I always liked the way Honda vehicles handle and STOPS on a dime. Toyota has been using acidic coolant in their recent models which prematurely leaks waterpump, heater core, radiator sooner or later. That's a trap set by Toyota which one can not avoid.
I love getting reviews from someone the drove in this car for several months and gave an honest remove review unlike those people that test drive for 10min and pretend to know it all in a name of content. Good job on the video
Yesterday, I just picked up the 2020 Odyssey EXL with the rear entertainment system (RES) and GPS. I switched over to Odyssey since 2003. I put in a lot of mileage in the van each year and love the smell of the new one. Thus, I traded in and got a new model every year. The MSRP is about the same for the last four years (2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020). Everything that you have mentioned in the video is correct. Plus, the second-row seat is effortless to remove as needed. Finally, the seat can slide over when removing the middle-seat to get more space for getting in the third row. Thanks for the video.
I had a basic 1984 Caravan and then graduated to a 1991 extended version one. The best feature was the second row captain's chairs so my kids didn't have to touch each other. It was a great car for when I needed a lot of space. The worse zonk was having to physically take the 3rd row out of the car and store it in the garage when more room was needed for hauling stuff.
I agreed with you about the minivan! I have a 2007 Sienna and it is my choice of transportation for a long trip drive. It is like sitting on a sofa in your living room all day long. l don't think I ever NOT owning a van even though I do have a compact SUV for around town commute.
My hubby bought me one for our two Old English Sheepdogs and I love it. We have a white Elite and it drives and rides beautifully. It is so nice to press the key fob and they run to jump in. We are looking forward to traveling in the fall......with the dogs, of course.
We just bought a EX-l with nav and res last Friday. To get this kind of space in a SUV, you'd have to go for a Expedition, Tahoe, Yukon, or Escalade and spend atleast an additional $15k and not have near the luxury options. My wife and I would have never guessed in a million years that we would ever buy a minivan, but we did.
Had at my disposal a 2010 & 2012 Odyssey, in my final years with Honda, as a company vehicle, and I loved them, and quite impressed with the ride on long trips!
my grandpa had a 97 town n country that van was undestructible, made 7 trips from Minnesota to Mexico throughout the years it had almost 300k miles when he finally sold it running as strong as ever, i really miss that van 😏
We own a 2000 Oddy with 401,000 miles on it. It was in fairly good shape for a 20 year-old vehicle until another driver sideswiped us a week before Christmas and raked the passenger side of the vehicle from wheel well to wheel well. We love our van and will replace it with a 2020 EX later this year.
I like the Odyssey, lot of folks didn’t like the redesign a few years ago but I like it better. The one problem is price, you can lease a new Pacifica Limited trim van for a steal. The Honda not so much. Last spring Chrysler was leasing a new Pacifica Limited for 250/month for 3 years and you can’t beat the stow away seats, in the Honda you have to physically take out the second row, that’s pretty tough for an older adult like me. Like the room of a minivan, easier to get in and out. A disability issue keeps me from getting in and out of the SUV’s so the Van is my best option.
We've had our 2020 odyssey for about 6 weeks now. Overall we like it. My disappointments are the back gate doesnt open high enough I'm only 5'9" and hit my head on it when I forget. And the dim lights at night it's like they have a top cutoff line to them.
With 6 kids we were looking for an suv big enough for 8 people. Considered pilot but they were so much more expensive or you’d have to get used to find something to compare price wise. Once you get over the stigma of soccer mom van. We’ve had our odyssey for over 3 years now and it is great everyone has room and still room for everyone’s stuff and yes the SNACKS, snack storage galore, now three older kids are driving, so in next few years dad’s gonna get something with more go
Thank you Raiti...I just leased the 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite and am picking it up this Saturday. I traded in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring. I spend like 30x going to the dealership for problems with that vehicle. I have always owned Honda's but my first van was Chrysler. It had all the bells and whistles but it was not a dependable van.

Only if they put back the separate air conditioner for the rear cabin. In this latest Odyssey, Honda opted to cut costs by removing the second air conditioner that had always been there since the Odyssey first came out in 1998.

Second crease that flows from front door to sliding door. IDK but creases add some character to a vehicle. But when this is 20 years, the creases will be called, wrinkles. Best.
These are good vans. My parents bought the 03 Odyssey brand new back in the day and just now I am getting rid of it. Here is the thing though: it drove me and my friends around for years, it helped us build the new house with the huge interior room, and it became my first "modern" car after I had to sell my 86' Cadillac Fleetwood (I found out soon after getting my license that it was not the best daily driver). Now I am getting rid of this van finally but that is because I want something sportier for University. My whole freshman year I was commuting in a soccer mom mobile
I have a 2013 Honda Odyssey and mine has a “fridge” small cooling compartment. I usually put the babies bottle in there with about 4 soda cans. Do the newer ones have that option? If not I’ll stick with my older one
We'll be getting the Odyssey this year and you sold me on this van because I'm pregnant and need all the snack hiding spots possible. Thanks for the video!
I love my 2020 EXL with GPS &Rear entertainment. My husband does not like the fact that it powers down at stop lights. With economy on it loses some power, sport mode increases power, another thing you forgot to mention is in snow mode you can not set cruise which is a huge safety factor. I zonk the radio button and volume control it looks like it belongs in a 1962 VW bug. Not a $40,000. Vehicle
Give us a look at legroom of the 3rd row when 2nd row seats are up in standard position in coming videos.you only show that when 2nd row seats are down.when they are up,we can't see from front.so show it from your side.
Great review joe.. I have the same van combo but in diamond white pearl.. upgraded from a 5 passenger acura.. family grew. I will say for my first van its definitely great vehicle
Had a 2003, had all those transmission issues replaced 3 times. Had 2007, needed engine mounts, 2 power steering pumps, sunroof stopped working. Rather have a Toyota Sienna. But mini vans offer so much more for families than any SUV. So much more room, better for kids with those automatic sliding doors. They drive great and sit low to the ground unlike SUV"s which sit way to high off the ground.
I work on these thing everyday. I would wait couple years to buy one. These new models have alot issues right now. Transmission issues, audio unit issues, slide door issues.
Once the kinks get ironed out shouldnt be too bad. You will save money on repairs compared to other brands. First few years everything is covered under warranty. When any brand releases a new line you can expect issues.
Hi, Can you please let me know when the Honda Odyssey is scheduled for it's next redesign? I have been driving Honda Pilots, but I think my family might be in need of the Odyssey for a few years now. Thanks!
I love your videos man, keep pumping out the content. I look forward to your videos every single day. On the other hand, I would really like to see you go over the infotainment screen and what features differ from other brands.
We went to Honda to buy either pilot or odyssey. I wanted pilot at that time and still kinda do coz I have this I need to have suv mindset but I ended up with 2020 odyssey exl. For my family odyssey seems more practical.. way more space and I am no joke go check out yourself way more space in all rows and in the truck.. better gas mileage and cheaper insurance too. I dunno if it just or what but I test drives both and the feel looks the same new odyssey feels big when you drive same feeling I got when I drove odyssey and pilot no difference. The only thing you see difference is when you go in and out of the vehicle especially in second row.
Another great review 🙌 my family owns a 2006 Odyssey, and it's a great car, but it's just a little too long for my liking 😅 would love to drive this car since it seems like it huge step up from the '06 model
As far as I’m concerned, for most people minivans are the ideal family haulers as opposed to crossovers. Unless you need to tow, you’ll undoubtedly get a better 3rd row seat and sliding doors. Maybe at some point crossovers will be seen as uncool to parents and their kids and society overall like the minivan and wagon have become
I wish all minivans had 5,000 towing ratings and AWD, just so they could invalidate crossovers. The minivan body is just so much more flexible than the crossover body.
@@darienmiller1032 Oh, I agree... However I just don't see it happening except for few exceptions. If I recall the newer Pacifica has about 4000 and the astrovan had something to that effect as well. Tongue weight would obviously be another factor as well
I can see some Toyota Sienna Mixed up in there, I'm not hating on the Honda though.....but im sticking with my 2017 Sienna XLE which hasn't really changed much i.e. Front Bumper, the Lane change Warning & Stereo System. I don't care too have a SUV Gas Guzzler and over priced because of demand. Great Video Sir
Test drove a new Odyssey LX a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Lots of wind noise at 60mph and the transmission seems to shift slowly at low speeds. It's such a shame because it's a great looking van.
Hello I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey, our 2nd vehicle. Tons more room than my 2018 compact SUV!! Better visibility, huge roomy seats, room for about 9-10 kids & moves 8x4 Sheetrock panels with seats folded & removed. I love the new odyssey, but can’t afford right now @ 45k elite model. I would really like to see you review the Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Sedona & Toyota Sienna- as I will be looking to update my mini-van next year. 😊
you are my go to guy if I may say so, I have a 2010 odyssey and I'm gonna keep it a little longer until Honda got rid of this new body styling especially the side profile.
Did you had any issue with the steering wheel and alignment? I had bought one and next day I noticed I had to steer the steering wheel to the left in order for the van to go straight. I went back to the dealership and they took care of it but while going home I noticed the problem was still there even when it was fixed. They were super nice and changed the van for me, but that one had the same issue so the dealership contacted their partner dealership and asked them to drive one and it had the same issue as well. I ended up refunding the van.
I always thought of vans as just bigger wagons. They drive way better than most suvs, like a long comfy sedan. You can get dodge caravan for cheap as hell, and they are pretty reliable. We have a bunch at my work with tons of kms and we beat the hell out of them lol.
I chose 2020 odyssey over pilot. Even though they were giving me 3k off on the pilot coz third row in pilot is no match for third row in odyssey comfort and space wise. Not just that even the very last row where you store stuff is way larger and easier to access and fit stuff in odyssey than pilot. SUV are just a show off vehicles while van are more practical especially if you travel a lot with family members like we do. I like how pilot looks for the outside but when you start comparing interiors of pilot and odyssey both features and space wise then there is no competition. Odyssey wins.
Ha! you said station wagon, my daughters have no ideas what that is. I showed them what my mom drove, and my youngest looked at me and said your a Boomer Dad if course you know what a station wagon is...
Great review. Just to let you know that the 2020 Honda Odyssey models come standard with Auto/Start/Stop Technology. What that does when you come to a complete stop or an intersection, the engine shuts off for to save fuel. Are people who you know happy with that feature?
People should definitely look at the Odyssey or other Minivans if they have a large family and not just get an SUV because they’re popular. Good job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
my worst mistake in my life is buying the odyssey 2 years ago, start from the beginning it went wrong, there was a know issue on the rear entertainment system that they can't fix and freeze the system, the dealer end up taking the car back after spending in the shop for a month (with other issues from the dealership) and i got a new elite model (original is touring) ship from another store; however, issue never end since... sliding door jammed (not the recall issue), exterior panels don't fit, steering rack making noises, engine stop start failed, not to mention the recalls... I still not sure when the 10th gear will be used, driving on freeway on flat road at 85 mph still only using 9th gear... so... maybe have to go Germany to get the full potential legally The front USB port is stupid, there is only one which is in the center console and they don't leave a pass thru for cable The Nav screen will sometimes freeze and you have to turn off the car (open the door) restart it to reboot, happen at least once a month for me, and for some reason it will not memorize the last screen you use (it could be Apple Car Play issue) I always leave it on the Nav screen, but once a while when you start the car it will jump to the Car Play screen... The rear TV screen will block some of the view of the rear mirror, and I'm still yet to find a way to update it since one of the app seems no longer support or exist and cannot use; they put the Bluray disc loader in front under the shiftier unit, but then leave the only HDMI port behind the center console while the 110v plug in front... cable management nightmare... The auto hold button placement is idiotic, they put it on the bottom panel left side of the steering wheel; first, unless you have extremely long arm, you will have to bent forward a bit to activate it; second, which is the worst part, it is next to the E brake button which look and feel exactly the same, even after two years I still can accidentally press the E brake, and since the auto hold will reset every time you put in Park, you may only remember to press it after you start driving, and the whole car lock up with an emergency stop... speaking of E brake, it can be pull or push, which you will think one is to activate one is to deactivate, but no, they function the same... The steering rack will make noises when you turn, mostly in tight turn or parking lot when you need to shift from left to right quickly (not yet full lock), mention it to dealership many times all ignored Moving to the mid row, it is super cool you can slide your seat toward the center; however, it create a uneven floor... and the two captain chair can't fully recline when have the center seat in, the rear wheel arch will block it, you have to remove the center seat and slide in one click to recline fully Moving to the Honda app... which is extremely annoying that it will pop up when you connect to the car, unless you have your phone locked, it will pop up no matter what you are doing and you can't disable it even you force stopped the app, next time you get in it will come up and tell you it is connecting to the car... doesn't matter you are reading your email or text or watching movie or play games, it will show you the Honda logo The upside of the car is it does handle well especially in corners, it like driving a sedan, ride is smooth too, the ride height should be the lowest in the class which makes small kids climbing in easier... but other then that... sighs I might be the lucky one getting a not functioning Honda... but I will never ever get one again...
If they can put awd and keep that mpg, Honda will have easily made the best van by far. I have been buying all the new elite ones to current and feel they havent changed the interior much. Just electronics. Trans got better.
The sad part is that the Odyssey technically does have AWD, but it's only on the international version. Honda sells two Odyssey's, the American (full sized) and the international one (mid sized). The latter one not only has AWD, but also a hybrid model!
It's high time they have a chain drive instead of a belt drive in an Odyssey.... it's cost me around $2500 (and some change) to do a "belt-water pump-seals" change in my 2010 Odyssey. Imagine what will it cost to replace for this 2020 Odyssey model? :-(
I drive a Sedona minivan. Nice review as always. I have to zonk the whole profile especially the rear. Side profile looks like a sagging overworked undertaker. Front has too many lights with conflicting designs. Rims are too small and should at least have more than five spokes for that elegance. Running a 65" rubber is overcompensating the suspension. Very practical vehicle allround, can't figure out why families squash themselves in SUV's doesn't make sense.
Hi Joe. After watching this video about a week ago, I stopped by a Honda dealership to check out the Odyssey. I love them! I currently lease a 2018 f-150. I only have 12 payments left on a 3 year lease. Honda was willing to buy my truck. Well...the dealership and myself were shocked! When they called to get the dealership payoff, Ford credit wouldn't give it to them. They stated their policy has changed and lease buyouts, has to happen at the Ford dealership the vehicle was leased from. Wow....they sure tied that up. Going to be a lot of unhappy customers out there. I don't understand what makes the difference who buys the vehicle!?! So...I guess I will get my Odyssey in 12 months..🤷 lol
you are correct, sir. Minivans just aren't "cool" now, but there is no denying the fact that dollar for dollar, you can NOT beat their functionality. We're on our 3 Honda Oddessy, since 2000 and even though 2 of our 3 kids are out of the house....we're still considering a new one, because what other vehicle can let you seat 7or8 people plus a good amount of luggage one day....and then on another day move a 4ft x8 ft sheet of plywood ??! Take out the middle seats, fold down the 3rd row and you have a freaking pickup truck. Also, as you mentioned...they drive great. Perfect vehicles for families and even for those without, but do like functionality (like those who do a lot of projects and always need room for wood, mowers, furniture, cargo, etc)..they just can't be beat. SUV's are nice but they are so over-priced for what you get, imo.
i once drove a toyota sienna and it changed my whole perspective about mini vans. they are the chillest and easiest to drive.

new drinking game....everyone takes a shot when this guy says "snack". Everyone passes out before the video is over, lol !!
gratefulRed69 lmao too accurate
Had a 2003, had all those transmission issues replaced 3 times. Had 2007, needed engine mounts, 2 power steering pumps, sunroof stopped working. Rather have a Toyota Sienna. But mini vans offer so much more for families than any SUV. So much more room, better for kids with those automatic sliding doors. They drive great and sit low to the ground unlike SUV"s which sit way to high off the ground.
Thanks Alan for sharing that great input from your ownership.
@@RaitisRides Keep up the good work!
My dream Honda minivan!! Good job Joe.
Oh damn this is good to know
Can you remove the second row seats completely out of the van?
Awesome vid! Where’s the 2020 Prius review at? I’m really itching to get one
I will be getting that up probably over the weekend.
Hi, Can you please let me know when the Honda Odyssey is scheduled for it's next redesign? I have been driving Honda Pilots, but I think my family might be in need of the Odyssey for a few years now. Thanks!
A redesign is probably not for another couple years.
I hear the Odyssey Hybrid is in the works, maybe 2021! And Joe Rules!
Are the second row and third row seats removable, not retractable?
Joe, the Odyssey was one I was looking at. However, I wanted all wheel drive. I went with the 2020 Pilot EX-L and very happy.
Thanks for your reviews.
I love your videos man, keep pumping out the content. I look forward to your videos every single day. On the other hand, I would really like to see you go over the infotainment screen and what features differ from other brands.
Thanks Matt! I appreciate your support! I will try to fit a review in about that. Thanks for the feedback.
I bet the features are similar
Thanks for saying that! I appreciate the ownership input.
Thanks for sharing your great input on this one Stephen!
And THANK YOU for keeping these great video reviews going
Since we live in florida, the mpg Never comes to 19mpg in city because of your AC that works like crazy pretty much all the time...
Test drove a new Odyssey LX a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Lots of wind noise at 60mph and the transmission seems to shift slowly at low speeds. It's such a shame because it's a great looking van.
Thanks for sharing yoru input. I would try a higher trim level.
@@RaitisRides the salesman did say the EX and upper trim is quieter but I just wanted a basic trim. The sienna le was pretty quiet though.
mrjjthor Thor Can’t go wrong with Sienna. Might wanna check out the Kia Sedona too. We have a 2017 Sedona SXL ( top of line) & love it. Very quiet!
Do the middle seats go down like the back? & is this the one that has the powered windows in the middle?
camping can only be possible in the Chrysler pacifica with the stow and go system.
Hello
I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey, our 2nd vehicle. 😊
Thanks for sharing that great ownership input!
you are my go to guy if I may say so, I have a 2010 odyssey and I'm gonna keep it a little longer until Honda got rid of this new body styling especially the side profile.
Thanks! That is so awesome of you to say!
keep up the good work in 2020 , peace be with you.
Has honda put back the 2nd ac condensor for the rear? Can u find out?
I will see.
Wow was just looking at them on Monday 2020 Odyssey elite
I read your mind! LOL
I always thought of vans as just bigger wagons. They drive way better than most suvs, like a long comfy sedan. You can get dodge caravan for cheap as hell, and they are pretty reliable. We have a bunch at my work with tons of kms and we beat the hell out of them lol.
Great points Bob!
Awesome I'm buying one today? I had seen this video in the past but never completed it same year same color same interior.
We want a minivan so bad! Love the Odyssey! ❤️👍
SUVs have 2nd row reclining, that makes it useful in case you need to sleep in for camping, and doubles cargo space.
Great point.
“A refrigerator rolling down the road” 😂
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
How do you put a half box of unopened twinkies?
Ha! you said station wagon, my daughters have no ideas what that is.
I showed them what my mom drove, and my youngest looked at me and said your a Boomer Dad if course you know what a station wagon is...
That is freaking priceless!
Any updates or changes for the 2021 model year?
Do you have any idea what new features will be coming out for the 2021 model year?
Not yet
Great review. Just to let you know that the 2020 Honda Odyssey models come standard with Auto/Start/Stop Technology. What that does when you come to a complete stop or an intersection, the engine shuts off for to save fuel. Are people who you know happy with that feature?
Thanks for the entertaining and thorough review! I'm off to buy my EX-L and a boatload of snacks to fill all of those snack compartments!
People should definitely look at the Odyssey or other Minivans if they have a large family and not just get an SUV because they’re popular. Good job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Larry for letting me bring this to you!
my worst mistake in my life is buying the odyssey 2 years ago, start from the beginning it went wrong, there was a know issue on the rear entertainment system that they can't fix and freeze the system, the dealer end up taking the car back after spending in the shop for a month (with other issues from the dealership) and i got a new elite model (original is touring) ship from another store; however, issue never end since... sliding door jammed (not the recall issue), exterior panels don't fit, steering rack making noises, engine stop start failed, not to mention the recalls...
I still not sure when the 10th gear will be used, driving on freeway on flat road at 85 mph still only using 9th gear... so... maybe have to go Germany to get the full potential legally
The front USB port is stupid, there is only one which is in the center console and they don't leave a pass thru for cable
The Nav screen will sometimes freeze and you have to turn off the car (open the door) restart it to reboot, happen at least once a month for me, and for some reason it will not memorize the last screen you use (it could be Apple Car Play issue) I always leave it on the Nav screen, but once a while when you start the car it will jump to the Car Play screen...
The steering rack will make noises when you turn, mostly in tight turn or parking lot when you need to shift from left to right quickly (not yet full lock), mention it to dealership many times all ignored
Moving to the mid row, it is super cool you can slide your seat toward the center; however, it create a uneven floor... and the two captain chair can't fully recline when have the center seat in, the rear wheel arch will block it, you have to remove the center seat and slide in one click to recline fully
Moving to the Honda app... which is extremely annoying that it will pop up when you connect to the car, unless you have your phone locked, it will pop up no matter what you are doing and you can't disable it even you force stopped the app, next time you get in it will come up and tell you it is connecting to the car... doesn't matter you are reading your email or text or watching movie or play games, it will show you the Honda logo
The upside of the car is it does handle well especially in corners, it like driving a sedan, ride is smooth too, the ride height should be the lowest in the class which makes small kids climbing in easier... but other then that... sighs
I might be the lucky one getting a not functioning Honda... but I will never ever get one again...
I appreciate you sharing your ownership experience. I am sorry to hear about the issues that you had.
Weren't they having trouble with the transmissions?
If they can put awd and keep that mpg, Honda will have easily made the best van by far. I have been buying all the new elite ones to current and feel they havent changed the interior much. Just electronics. Trans got better.
The sad part is that the Odyssey technically does have AWD, but it's only on the international version. Honda sells two Odyssey's, the American (full sized) and the international one (mid sized). The latter one not only has AWD, but also a hybrid model!
It actually really good looking
A lot better then the original minivans.
Raiti's Rides that’s for sure lol
@@RuisuCantEatCheese Yes indeed!
Yeah, I'm not much for minivans but it is a bit refreshing with nothing but SUVs everywhere.
We drove our 2006 Odyssey for 10 years and 300k miles, our 2015 currently has 140k. Absolutely best vehicle for a cross country trip.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership experience!
Snow mode on a FWD?
The Griswold's created the station wagon stigma. Made for a really hilarious movie though.
This is true!
It's high time they have a chain drive instead of a belt drive in an Odyssey.... it's cost me around $2500 (and some change) to do a "belt-water pump-seals" change in my 2010 Odyssey. Imagine what will it cost to replace for this 2020 Odyssey model? :-(
Wow. Find a mom and pop shop you trust. I paid $580 parts and labor for timing belt and water pump on my 2006 Odyssey.
Thanks for the video! I wish you had said something about Honda Odyssey's issue such as transmission problem since they are very famous of.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective. I appreciate you watching!
This van does not want to go straight. I keep have to keep steering left and right.
Thanks. We’ve been going back and forth looking at SUVs and minivans. We need extra cargo space so I think it’s going to be a minivan.
Would you review the Joey installed in a minivan?
I drive a Sedona minivan. Nice review as always. I have to zonk the whole profile especially the rear. Side profile looks like a sagging overworked undertaker. Front has too many lights with conflicting designs. Rims are too small and should at least have more than five spokes for that elegance. Running a 65" rubber is overcompensating the suspension. Very practical vehicle allround, can't figure out why families squash themselves in SUV's doesn't make sense.
Linda Madlala I agree with every word and you stated it very well
These Minivans have the greatest visibility of all time.
I totally agree with you Tom!
Is it me or does the Odyssey is so much smaller now? I had the 2001 and it wasn't this slim.
So very true!
you are correct, sir.
No dvd player?
Does it comes with run flat tires??
THANOS GOLD nope
