This is a song about leaving one's comfort zone. Theres a lot to break down but ill keep it simple. The supernatural throughout the track is all metaphor for new experiences/other people. Aes is an introvert and a hermit who keeps a strict routine because hes neurodivergent as hell. Thats why so many of the lyrics refer to isolation and comfort items/places. "Keep the corners cozy" as in he stays out of the way and on his own. "His Addy's in the heart of thar be dragon's" is referring to his address. 'thar be dragons' is a mediaval map-marker for places unexplored (hence referring to it as uncharted territory). He's saying his address is unexplored because he doesn't take visitors, and that he tries to scare people away from trying to visit him ("return the horses lonely" is a scare tactic, for example). Which juxtaposes the chorus of "let it in" and the hook before it about not being able to keep the supernatural out. The song is about him letting other people into his life and trying to experience new things and leave his comfort zone. If you listen to it with that in mind, you'll find that many of the metaphors begin to slide into place. I hope that helps :)

Aww, Joel…I’m sorry about the beat dude. I know where you’re coming from though. We all have those things in music that are just non-starters. It’s cool…haha. I guess to very succinctly (and possibly not accurately at all 😂) sum up this track, its Aes imagining himself as a spirit trying and succeeding at crossing back over to our world. It's kind of a metaphor for people writing him off and he's like "Oh, you thought you got rid of me? Well now I'm coming out of my otherworldly isolation to haunt you". Something I forgot to mention that can sometimes help decode his themes is that Aes often likes to refer to himself using third person pronouns, so when it sounds like he’s talking about someone else a lot of the time he’s actually talking about himself.

Aesops albums are themed and spirit world field guide is about hallucinogens. He does a great job of making a song about one thing overall but embedding smaller messages into it. To me this song is about peaking and not fighting the high, just let it in and go for the ride. The spectral lines throughout are like starting to trip and see things, but also questioning his own existence. Like if he's the spirit and not real. Maybe that's just me though

Jumping coffins is clearly about ghosts and paranormal experiences. Basically every line is about ghosts

"Some try to stonewall any kind of woo-woo tryna make a phone call"
A common way to get ghosts to "make their presence know".
"I'm a faint scent of sulfur"
"I'm the source of the ooze"
"I'm security tape of a glowing orb in a room"
These are very common *sign* of ghost haunting.

This song is about people not being able to be to accept medical trauma; from the perspective of a ghost.
My current medical situation... this is kind of my theme song.

TheAncientScholar has a breakdown of this song and the impressions of this album. It is 36 minutes long but I 90% agree with pretty much everything he says I have different antidotes that get me to pretty much the same conclusion.
I worked in hospitals for my entire career when I could work. Now I am on the other side being a full time patient. I have had to "let it in" working with having a partially working brain in my 30s.
So many people get hit with a traumatic injury and they fight it. Which makes treatment/resuscitation so much harder on them.
Aes in this song is a ghost in an OR/Waiting room. Watching people wait for the "coffin to jump".

I've always interpreted it as a song about how people should accept their mortality. People try to ignore all the signs of death around them out of fear and he thinks they should be open to it because it's inevitable anyway.

i watched an early vid of your guys and ace and felt homie on the right was idk just wasnt his cut or at the time was out of his element. then i came to this one and i felt homie on the left is not trying to listen lol. i get what you were saying about the beat, that steady sonic pitch that just keeps climbing. but if you guys continue to do aesop please just ignore the beat. no mfer is watching for your reaction to the beat. here's another thing, when giving your reaction or interpretation of the lyrics and you get it wrong, we wouldn't be here unless we are already were aesop fans and we get it, we have all been there. honest depending on the song if you get it right first time ill be able to tell if you full of shit by watching your reaction. idk its so weird. please realize that when i say what im about to say its all relative. newer ace is like blues clue as to where if you figured out old ace you thought you deciphered a treasure map.
and shit even though i feel that way guess what, ive had way more practice so i could be full of shit lol. ill end this silly rant with "I grew up writing riddles under bridges in new york" so dope no way copulation was the in-come.... i blame it on a stork

I think these songs are a good start - maybe Kodokushi and some Garbology tunes. The deep end with Aes will be Bazooka Tooth (and the Fast Cars stuff) and earlier. They'll get there soon enough if they just keep at it
