"I'm trying to catch all the things he said"
Welcome to the Aesop Rock rabbit hole.
this needs that meme of the skelaton sitting in the chair cause itll take a lifetime to decrypt aesop. even aesop doesnt always know exactly wtf hes saying, its just like.... a puzzle to him. he finds the words that fit the right pieces
i miss the like 06-08 days tho, just a teenager taking mdma and mushrooms with labor days on replay lol
@@JameZel913 I love watching Aes live, he clearly doesn’t believe in breathing.
@@jamconsi590 one of my favorite aes live moments is the video where hes performing with Kimya and hes just so akwardly standing around tryna vibe but also clearly so focused on being ready for his part. (RIP CAMU TAO)
to see the guy i consider the biggest genius in the game just be a normal akward fella with social anxiety was refreshing lol
@@jamconsi590 also, look up Circular Breathing. as a rapper ive been trying to learn it for years. but, its how dudes like Kaan and etc sound like they have 9 lungs
One of the deepest rabbitholes in hip-hop. Aes has been like the Patron Saint of Metaphor for the last 25+ years.
💯💯💯 I look forward to seeing what all he has to offer. Thanks for watching James. Much love ❤️
This man's a lyrical warlock, rappers and poets everywhere should study him.
seen the lupe video where he praises his skills?
@@chasesmith7215 yes, but I'm not parroting his view, I've held this one for a long time. But I'm glad he said it, people might actually listen to him. For their sake, and the cultures' sake. The bar is in all the wrong places these days.
You don't know it yet but this man is an encyclopedia - fuck a dictionary. If you take the time to look into him and read what this man writes, your whole perception on what rap and hip hop could be will change. He's part poet, part philosopher, pure genius and the fucking GOAT.
😄 I love your comment. I'll definitely try to do more of him. He has my interest
@@thejavilobby someone mentioned it in a comment below and they're right, he is a bit of an acquired taste - just don't give up. Especially with his older stuff, it might just sound like a wall of words and filler but in reality, everything means something and a great deal of enjoyment comes from decoding the lyrics and meaning.
To keep things simple and fun, continue with Klutz, Cat Food or TUFF - lyrics are recommended!
His work is so textured. You don’t get a Aes song off the first listen. There’s meaning under meaning, and it’s done that way so the listener has to really tune in to get what’s going on.
aesop is an acquired taste, his discography is probably best worked from newest to oldest for first time listeners, but hes the goat hands down now that doom's gone
💪🏾❤️🔥 He definitely has my attention.

Lol yeah. That old shit can get obnoxious. I LOVE LOVE LOVE DEF JUX but. They were brats on purpose.
I found Aesop Rock a week after I lost my father. He's been around for years but i found him when i needed him. He's my favorite artist and my son is a fan now. Life changing stuff.
beautiful comment man. Thats the thing about REAL music. its like medicine.
May your father rest in peace and may your son grow into a great man
Aesop Rock is excellent at making lyrics that are metaphorically many layers deep. This song is a perfect example. At first listen, it appears to be a song riffing off of the supernatural, weird and absurd. Which it absolutely is. But if you really contemplate the lyrics, break down each individual metaphor, you start to uncover a message about isolation, introversion, and leaving ones comfort zone. It is a song about trying to grow out of your comfort zone. Then, when you consider the song as a song about the supernatural and the weird, it becomes another layer of metaphor - whats outside your comfort zone can feel supernatural and scary. All that, combined with the whole album's message of mental health, you can see how many layers deep it starts to go. All of that on top of a great flow, beat, bars, etc. Aesop Rock takes MANY listens to fully understand his songs.
dude you should make a podcast just breaking down songs. or even a channel. like fr, this was an amazing breakdown and me and im sure many others would love to hear your perspective on countless other songs
@@JameZel913 damn cheers dude. I might give it a go
Been rocking AES for over 20 years.
“You can send your fastest riders I’ll return the horses lonely” is a bar
You've actually done a great job with this reaction. Short pauses, but with great commentary.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Thanks Kyle. I try to get the timing right. Sometimes I'm more successful than others. But I appreciate you saying so. Much love ❤️
Definitely check some more Aesop! He produced this track as well.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 sure will.
Great reaction! The brilliance of Aesop Rock goes beyond his rhyme schemes. A lot of people don't realize that he's produced the vast majority of his music over that past 10-15 years. His beats have actually become almost as crazy as his rhymes.
Thanks 🙏🏾 I'm glad you Enjoyed the reaction. I'm sure he has so much more to offer and reveal to me as I listen to more of his music. Plus I have all of you to help me.
Whenever he releases instrumentals I always get that album too.
Try 20yrs plus!
Aesop is a legend

My reaction to this: Real one. Instant sub. Great react 10/10.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Thanks!!! Welcome to the Javi Lobby
Everytime I listen to this it gets better Aesop is a legend
If you like Aesop check out his songs Flamingo Pink, Shere Khan and Molemen Ft. Aesop "Put your quarter up"
One of my favorite artists for sure. Thanks for doing this one!
💪🏾💯 My pleasure. Hope you enjoyed the video
Actually Aesop has the largest vocabulary in hip hop fact not opinion, the fact you see what aesop rock is off rip, you got amazing taste mad respect! Subbed
Subbing to watch you go on this journey. Been listening to Aes for 20 years now. Best of the best.
💪🏾❤️🔥 Good to know it. Dropping two more reactions this coming week. Welcome to the Javi Lobby
the hook says it all: let it in!
Hey man check out any song from this album ….. the singles went “The Gates”, “Pizza Alley” then “Coveralls” and finally “Jumping Coffins” is a ride
I'll definitely be doing more Aesop. I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. Thanks for watching Michael 💪🏾❤️🔥
I really dug your reaction! There are so many great aes songs to suggest but I'd recommend jazz hands or ruby 81 to start with.
Thanks Willow. I'll put them on my list. I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction. 💪❤️🔥
Oh hell yeah
I love Aesop reactions. Thanks for the video.
That underground and independent part tells me you are a true student of the art
You will never understand it all...ever...on the first listen. Just let it wash over you, and thank God it did.
💪🏾❤️🔥
This song is everything
enjoyed ttheir a super lot. s tier level of quality. Heard ttheir song a couple days ago and I fell in love
Aesop rock is a lyrical genius. I suggest you check out ALL of his you tube videos. Every one is unique, and NONE will disappoint! As for a genre, I just consider him an artist, and one of the best!
Try Gopher Guts or Water Tower.
Molecules with Water Tower. Gopher Guts is depressing enough on its own but all are best as closers to whole albums.
Gopher guts, one of my fav aesop tracks.
aesop rock is the GOAT lyricist.
Every few months I search Aesop reactions. I love seeing people who understand what’s happening. When someone discovers Aesop, it makes my soul happy. 🙌 more please
Yeah, you definitely have to actively listen to Aes, it isn't generally something you'll just have on in the background. It's so rich with metaphors and imagery that you'll miss out if you don't pay attention. 🔥 track 🔥reaction
In parts uncharted, always find the corners cozy
You can send your fastest riders, I return the horses lonely 🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the most ominous threats in hiphop lyrics. Not even a direct threat just saying "send your best people, they won't come back" in a subtle but memorable way
You are for real, I appreciate you. Aesop is deep
Watch Dorks, and Dog at the Door
It is about the Rap game.
Aesop Rock has been doing this over 20 years.
Appreciating his songs you have the initial react/video.
Then you start to research, and break down what all is happening.
Eventually you understand songs metaphor, similes, and you come to an understanding. All the layers congeal into almost like a stereo experience. It is like tripping, but drugs could get in the way.
Aes comes out crazy when you hang out with Lucy
Def Dorks. It's my 73 yr old pops favorite Aes song. Can't wait till the next album drops it will be the first album we get to listen to day one together since I put him on over the past couple of years.
I love how much you are catching on the first listen like this. great reaction vid! :D
Thanks Luke. Much more will come. Glad you enjoyed it
after scrolling through the comments all i have to say is welcome and dont try to figure it all out in one go. great reaction and hope you enjoy.
Don't try to pick it apart. Just take the hole thing in. Let it in let it in😊
This is definitely about someone who has been to the other side and is letting us know what it is like to die - even figuratively, metaphysically.
i decided to look up "first time hearing aesop rock"
wasnt disappointed. im 35 and my first time hearing aes was like...04?
he's best served with psychedelics. you should check out Greatest Pacman Victory in History. he does a whole verse of words in the sequence of L,S,D over and over.
A ghost story told from the ghost's perspective.
Love your breakdown. You should checkout "Difficult" & "oh fudge."
I’m real easy
Stumbled upon this randomly. New sub bro. Give Aes a chance. As many have said, he’s fucking WILD. It’s like…not even fair.
Aesop has the largest vocabulary of any rapper. No, seriously, some nerd counted the use of individual words used in the entirety of many rappers. His vocal is above and beyond anyone else’s.
Aes is a true GOAT, fuck the bs. dude's the definition of "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper"
Aesop has been doing this a long time, check out the labor days album from when he was a youngster... he's one of hip hop's geniuses imo.
Have you heard Prof yet? I implore you to catch a Prof vibe, he's that artist you didn't know you needed 😅
Oh, if only Rhymesayers could have kept Prof! I understand why he left, but damn! Rhymesayers crew took a big loss. Prof is a BEAST!
You can tell the skeleton guy is really him, just edited over. But I wonder if it's him skating, too!🐐
Been rocking Aes since the 90s . Check out his older stuff
Aes is king 💪
Rapping with perfect flow is one thing. Writing bars this deep, with the biggest vocab in rap, AND executing them bars is another level.
He’s had some mental health issues so his songs seem a therapy mechanism for him.
Blood sandwich is prob my fav song he’s done. His story telling is crazy.
Video is pure jokes too 😂😂😂
your an exceptional reaction. i appreciate your time.
Thanks Kyle. I'll try to get some more reactions to Aesop out. I'm glad you enjoyed this one
Most words in hip hop. 6000+ nent only in the 3000s.... Listen to the Lupa Feastaco vid on aseop rock!
You nailed it my man. He’s operating on multiple frequencies and you caught it.
Subbed just for the fact you checking out Aesop. Loved the reaction too
Get on more Rhymesayers artists: Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Sa-Roc, Eyedea, DOOM, Prof, Grieves, ...
Aes Rock is the Mozart of Hip Hop
Aesop has been around for over 20yrs.
First albums were produced by blockhead and his latest album he recallabed with blockhead.
Aesop now probuces his own music including the track you reacted to. He has also created the music for computer games and a movie.
He's sighned to rymesayers but originally def jux.
Also part of lice, hail marry Malone and the unconcluded.
I just found out he produced Felt 3, Murs and Slugs album back in 2009.
I have the exact opinion about the hook. At first, I wasn't sold. But yeah- it's the calm in a whirlwind of some real heavy lyrics.
I think Aes knows himself, in that he can’t sing, and his verses are almost overwhelming, to the extent that the chorus is kind of a respite.
You're the first person to react to this song that I've watched that understood from first hearing the chorus that the song is about getting out of your comfort zone.
If you end up reading this I'm not sure if it's been said already in here but aesop Rock has said more unique words in his music thenany other emcee in history. there's literally a chart online that shows this anybody can go and look at.
Personally would love to see what you thought of the song once you go through on your own and break down the lyrics. Aes is a fun listen and there’s a lot of great lyrical moments on surface listening but I think the best part of Aesop Rock is deciphering the lyrics and finding the deeper meanings, puns, metaphors, and double/triple entendres. The amount of thought this dude puts behind lyrics seems otherworldly sometimes… a lot of times
I honestly don't think there's a better lyricist than him out there, now or ever. Granted, there's a TON of strong writers and amazing rappers but none have the depth that he does. It's not just the vocabulary, the metaphors, entendres or whatever else, it's just the fact that he can marry words together in such a way that it makes you paint all these pictures in your head and it all means something. It isn't a random collection of imagery and lyrics, it's a coherent story or message presented in an atypical way... just, dude is the 🐐
@@losxdescabezados I tend to think it’s funny that the name Aesop Rock came to him through happenstance. The way he strings songs and even albums together really comes across like Aesops fables. For a song, there is tremendous amounts of world building and imagery, a cohesive narrative, and a lot of times a bit of wisdom. Shit’s crazy man
independent, underground... he's been ignored longer than you've been interested
The underrated klutz who never undercut the butcher.
Loved this review, I’m subbin up meow. Also, not sure how far you’ve dug into Aesop in the last year but The Impossible Kid is a great album to start with.
The Bazooka Tooth album is dope
Don’t know if it’s already been said in the comments, but Aesop has the largest unique vocabulary of any lyricist, and it’s by a lot. Literally twice that of bob Dylan’s who is renown for his diverse vocabulary.
Welcome to the genre called Aesop Rock ;)
It's so nice to see Aesop getting the appreciation he deserves. You have yourself a new subscriber sir :D Please do more Aesop! I bet you'd dig "Pumpkin Seeds" if you haven't heard it already. Will send tip soon!
Thanks Andrew. I'm happy to have discovered him. I'll definitely be doing more Aesop. Glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the Javi Lobby. Thanks for the tip in advance
12 out of 10, dope rating!
Hey, the way that you understood the careful balance of beat vs lyrics (and how they blend) is what made me subscribe!
I clicked because Aesop Rock reactions are fun for me to watch.
If I may suggest other Aes tracks:
"9-5ers Anthem"
"Dog at the Door" (this one is short poetry)
"Blacklist (featuring MF DOOM)" by Prefuse 73
Aesop has dope a track about his cat, but it's really more about his personal journey with therapy.
🤷 So, there's that...
🤔 Come to think of it- every song is probably really about his personal journey with therapy.
😅 Dope. I'm interested
@@thejavilobby Kirby is the song... and the cat.
@@GunnyRaps she can rap good too ;)
I need a few good listens for sure
Mf Doom, Aesop Rock, Ra the Rugged man=holy trinity of lyricism imho
Obligatory nod to KAAN as well, cuz the dude is an absolute beast
Great reaction! Aesop Rock is very underrated, definitely should check out his new song Mindful Solutionism, and speaking of underrated i would highly recommend checking out Chris Webby's Raw Thoughts 4-6
New new😊
Surprised 😯 how this artist do not blow up like the other shit wack rappers out there
React to about 100 more aesop songs. He's got a dozen albums, and hail mary mallon. Definitely listen to bestiary
"imma try an catch watch he said" yeah buddy, good luck !! even if you know what he said, you wont know what he's saying. he is the cryptorapper

Lol. Actually no. I just started listening to him and doing reactions. I just try my best to understand the art and provide my insight. I'm glad you enough it. Thanks
Yall sposed to be hip-hop and don't know Aes- damn, well, two decades strong almost yo.. the goatest of goats imo-

🙏🏾 I got it. Thank you so much Stephen. I truly do appreciate it. Much love brother ❤️
Aesop literally has a Savant Syndrome level of Shakespearean execution….
More Ase you're missing out!!!!
Don't be afraid to pull up the lyrics when listening. Once you get used to Aes you don't need them as much, but there will always be something you miss regardless imo.
His older stuff is soo much better. Check it out.
So the dude basically got a 49/10 because he did the beat and the visuals too. and it's his song, so...
*no disrespect intended to anyone else that worked on this song.
Do more Aesop, try drums on the wheel
Bro….you’re really good at this. You’re analysis of Aes is 100%
I just found you and subscribed to your channel because you did a reaction to the G.O.A.T --> Aes. You should know that. Also DEFINITELY get into his newest ITS. Trust me yo

Dude you seem cool but your rating system is chaotic neutral af
😂 You're so right. It's definitely not a science
AES is absolutely an acquired taste; but not a single thing you said even reflected anything you said. This whole video was “ I don’t understand it but I want views”
😂 Wrong dude, wrong channel. Any of my subs can tell you I don't care about views. If you didn't like my reaction, just say so. But don't try to attack my character. I'm not that guy
this is hip hop stop calling it rap and stop calling rap hip hop
You sound confused. Aesop calls what he does rapping. And you are going to disagree with him?
Rapping is a component of hip hop, dumbass. I've been a hip hop head since the early 80s, and I can tell you're barely an adult, if not still a child. Go sit in the corner quietly until you learn something.
You sound confused. Rapping is a component of hip hop. Let me guess, you were born after 1999 and you likely don't even know what the term _freestyling_ means.
