    Haha hell yeah. Love it.
Most people don't get Aes songs the first 10 listens. There is stuff I catch still to this day he put out in the the early 2000's.
Once you get more accustomed to how he explains things, you can follow along fairly easily. Honestly though, you might have to look up words or references you don't know for it to make sense. Then it won't seem so everywhere.. What makes his music incredible is once it all starts making sense. That is when you get that "holy shit, this is so fking dope" feeling and want to dive into more content.
Btw.. Sid is from Toy Story... ;)

Love it bois....thanks! Very fair assessment for a first listen and very, very fair ratings. I think you'll find that you pick up more in casual listening with Aes because you might only catch a line here and there, so it doesn't feel quite as overwhelming as it can when you have the lyrics in front of you and are trying to intently focus on each line as it comes at you. That's been my experience anyway. This track is more like a written freestyle where he's just firing off one liners bragging about his talent, taking shots at the music industry/society or making funny little quips about his personality. Not really an overall story or anything to latch onto on this one, so it's more about just enjoying each part as a little word painting. Sometimes I like to think of Aes crafting like a book of poetry, but it's set inside the confines of a comic book where each panel has a different standalone depiction of the imagery he's painting with his words. Sometimes with Aes too, it's not necessarily about understanding or catching everything he's throwing at you, but more letting it wash over you like his voice and words are an insane guitar solo or something....if that makes any sense at all....lol. I'll definitely shoot off a little CliffsNotes on this one for ya.

Thank you guys for keeping at it with Aes! Not knowing what he's talking about (even after a few listens) is what makes him so damn enjoyable. Hearing a line, five lines ago and trying to catch up is typical of every song he's written. He pen game is unmatched, he speaks metaphors of metaphors and his flow is acrobatic - he's damn near 50 years old and still manages to keep things FRESH. Please continue with this journey, try Flamingo Pink or Kodokushi next because it's a little easier to follow along with but is still super dope!

"Older Yeller never knew a no-kill shelter in his doggy days." My favorite line. Listen to Ruby '84 if you want a narrative story. Try it twice, try not to cry.
Archery (calculation) is a common theme, since forever. His realism can't be idealism, no such thing as perfection, in the real world. Look around. Life ain't math.

His songs get much better when you memorize the lyrics 🎤

I think of Aesop's music the same way as something like Tool where it grows with each listen. With Tool it's finding the groove of the song through the time changes. With Aes it's getting past flow and pace and actually understanding what is being said.

This song is more of a free association and not nearly as grounded in a continuous narrative. There is no chorus, there is no refrain, it's just bars. This is like Aes's version of a diss track. He's just being lyrically combative towards modern culture. While some of his lines are very direct, most are almost like riddles.
"Seas part, green trees march out of Eden
I'm known to eat the heart and keep the archery uneven"
The first line i just take as some sort of visual metaphor of Ents marching out of some biblical green land of idealism. You asked "How do you keep archery uneven? It's balanced." And i think that's Aes's point, he keeps his aim wandering and unpredictable and is the reason for your initial reaction.
It will take you longer than 6 months to fully unpack his songs but you can get most of it with a little bit of digging and asking the right questions. Some of my favorite songs of his, i'm sure there are still a few lines which are absolutely perplexing to me.

He records these verses in 1 take. Definitely a chill flow & not rapping fast but damn is it hard to rap along with him without running out of breath.

You should check out ruby 81 by Aesop rock. It’s such a straight forward story song and he uses the beat to build anxiety. It a beautiful song

If you want an Aesop track where he is probably at his least cryptic you want Ruby 81.

Aesop Rock is really hard to understand if you don't put in effort to do so. You won't understand most of his songs with a one-time listen. It's like Lupe Fiasco said, you need to study Aesops songs to truly understand most of his work. Everything he says has a meaning. And a lot of it is hard to uncover but the more you do the more you will know he's the goat. Personally, i put in a lot of effort to understand what he's talking about, looking up the meaning of all words i don't know, google all culture references etc... English isn't my first language and he sure helped me expand my vocabulary and become better at English.

Like a gallery of grifters, channeling Sids action figures, crafted by his little sisters after marker glue and scissors
Lol only the dopest most obscure Toy story reference ever lol
Dudes going to still be talked about in 2150

I'm a big AR fan, and just the same as you, I highly respect the spirit of this song, but also don't find it grabby.
