Yes exactly this. I fear her way more then I fear some thug on the street why? Because this chick already was in a super good spot in her life and still decided "nah, I need MORE, I DESERVE MORE". She didn't even have the courtesy to fake a less severe type of cancer. Pancreatic cancer is very aggressive type of cancer and usually by the time you show symptoms it's too late. My father in law had battled for a little over a year but lost. It was so awful to watch him deteriorate as the days went on. Shame on this woman.
Another lie of hers is related to her non-existent hair loss. People were noticing that she wasn't losing her hair so she made a video addressing the issue. She said she was taking a biotin supplement to maintain her hair. The audacity.
It depends on the treatment regimen. Anthracyclines are well known for hair loss, but capecitabine by comparison won't do that to you. I'm saying this so people don't get the wrong idea and start accusing genuine cancer patients.
I can’t believe that she would fake cancer. To reunite her family?! She has everything she could’ve wanted, yet she fakes cancer!? I’m glad some people covered that she had faked it, if they didn’t, she would’ve kept on scamming people and gotten away with it.
I hate to say it but she’s not getting prosecuted because she is a female. In America they are indicted over 50% less and serve only 34% the time for the same crimes committed by men. There was a guy in my town that faked Tourette’s and autism to get free housing and food from a publicly funded shelter. He didn’t defraud anyone anywhere near $37k and he’s in the hole for 5 years. No previous criminal history. You can claim that “it’s the judge,” but you can’t deny the country-wide stats.
Being an actual cancer survivor, I heard about this story at the tail end of my treatment, and I was so disgusted by this. Who in their right mind would pretend to have a horrible affliction, much less a relatively common one like cancer, for any reason? I'm glad there were at least some repercussions, but they definitely should have been less lenient with her sentencing. It sucks to see how far some people will go for a little bit of attention and money, because I can almost guarantee she didn't do this to bring her family back together.

As someone who actually went through cancer treatment (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia), it is disgusting to see someone fake such a arduous and painful process as a way to gain clout and money. I hope they come around to actually giving this woman the consequences she deserves.
I had a patient who came into our hospital with "severe nausea" (had not seen her throw up at all) but the doctors gave her a tube feed anyway. (Her history shows that she's in and out of the hospital for the same thing). She was a "paraplegic" but was able to lift her legs up and stand up, but for some reason they gave her a diagnosis of paraplegia. Fast forward to a week into her hospital admission, another nurse found over a hundred vials of hydromorphone, valium, and compazine, etc all in a giant bag. We found out she was also a tiktok "star" and was asking all the nurses to follow her. A co-worker of mine looked into her account and saw that she was trying to get sympathy/attention for all of her "illnesses". Good news is that the doctors basically kicked her out, not sure if she got in trouble by the law for those drugs found on her. But everyone was positive that they did not leave drugs in her room so it was likely she was getting her friends to smuggle it in.
I went to high school with her. She was a straight A student, a phenomenal person and was a great friend. I’ve been working/learning in the law enforcement field for around 5 years now (not that it matters), and the only reason why I can think that the prosecuting attorney would request no jail time is because, unfortunately, studies have shown that putting low risk offenders into prison can actually increase their likelihood that they would reoffend, rather than if they utilized alternative sentencing.
My spouse survived two different unrelated cancers in 5 years. It's dreadful going through the process, and honestly the last thing we thought about was getting public sympathy. It's hard enough to go through without having to deal with people not believing us because of people like her.

Well, a lot of the cancer fakers get caught. It’s pretty hard to fake a full cancer and treatment course without errors, and many are dumb enough to think movies are documentaries, and include nonsense or Hollywood fantasies of cancer in their portrayal. Or some get greedy and start to say they have 2-3 different cancers at once, which isn’t “proof” as that is possible, but it’s very rare and a potential red flag. Even if they read up on cancers and mimic real patient experiences, it’s hard to get all the details correct. Can’t remember if it was her, but one faker tried to pass off a tube taped under her nose off as a feeding tube, and many nurses and docs spotted right away that it was clearly not a realistic nasogastric tube.
my classmate has cancer. And she is only 14 yrs old. It's sad to see that some people are that terrible that they are ready to fake anything for money and attention.
As a 2 time cancer survivor (all before the age of 28)... this shit pisses me off. Going through it fucking sucks. There were tons of complications for me going through it as well. I could never wish on anyone. Then if your lucky to survive, you're stuck with the long term effects (in my case heart damage) and a huge medical bill. I struggled through paying those bills, hell I still am. But is a small price to pay to still be here. These people faking illness, conditions, etc definitely deserve a way harsher punishment when they use these false narratives to solicit money or free things. The slap on the wrist just means they will keep doing it.
I just saw my aunt that’s dying from cancer today. She ran marathons, ate well, just was generally a really lively person. Today I kept checking her pulse because she looked just like my grandma did when she took her last breath in front of my eyes. This is a horrible thing to lie about.
She should get a year of community service helping out patients with cancer. Getting their groceries, cleaning, you know - so she can be around people who have the life altering disease she pretended to have.
There was a big case a couple of years ago here in Australia where some chick faked having cancer and then sold her lifestyle shit, as if eating a good diet or something "cured" her of cancer without chemo or radio therapy. Normally I would say that going a bit lighter on the punishment is a good thing, as long as she returns the money, then a slap on the wrist is enough, but the issue in this case is that she can't truly undo the effects of her crime, by faking cancer for donations she gives people reason to doubt any similar fund raisers. Her biggest crime is not against those she stole from, but against those she impersonated.
As a disabled person it makes me so angry when people use conditions like this. Did she not have those grades and that job while she was scheming and scamming in the first place? If she did, then if it didn't stop her from offending, it won't stop her from reoffending. Why do you think every gun crime is never about the criminal and always about the gun? Because guns represent the one thing those who want to oppress the people truly fear. A few years ago there was a city employee here who told all her coworkers she had cancer. They raised money for her, donated PTO to her so she could go to her doctor appointments, there would be news articles documenting her struggle and ways you could help her. This went on for a couple years before she was exposed, she had taken thousands of dollars of PTO from her coworkers, spent the donations on vacations and big ticket items for herself and her family. I don't know how people get to a point where they think this is ok or how they live with themselves after they get caught.
As a rule, If someone puts in time and effort to dress up, put makeup on and look "good" to make a video about something supposedly serious then I immediately dont trust them. The way it's so intentional makes it feel like a manipulation tactic. This is almost always the case with bad/fake apologies, terrible responses and i guess total scams. Law student here: the reason these sentences are usually so "light" is for two main reasons: (1) the crime is non-violent and (2) it's usually a first-time offense (like for Madison, here). There's also the question of recidivism, and the Court likely determined she was unlikely to reoffend Also, I use "light" in quotations because parole is actually a lot tougher than most people think it is. For one, there's no credit for "good behavior," so 3 years of probation means *3 years of probation*, and not 1 day less. 2nd, if she gets so much as a DUI or public intox (common offenses for college students), she goes straight to prison for 10 years, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

The only thing that will stop her from reoffending is never giving her access to the internet again.
Yes exactly this. I fear her way more then I fear some thug on the street why? Because this chick already was in a super good spot in her life and still decided "nah, I need MORE, I DESERVE MORE". This is greed 100000000000000000000000000000%. Someone who already have everything they could ask for and still demand more are the type of people who have good jobs and earn super well but still try to scam money from people who have less then them. That is the definition of greed. Well educated people who try to take advantage of people who have less then them is IMO far worse then if a homeless man steals. But also being poor is IMO not a good excuse to steal either, unless they are literally starving.

I actually went to highschool with the girl (I didn’t know her personally) a lot of people in the Eldridge area were shocked
@@BBQFarts when we first ran it we knew it would be a local talker, but it's really crazy how big it's become and how many UA-camrs have picked up on it!

A family member of mine has cancer, its disgusting that someone would want to fake this
I like how in her apology in court she's pretends yo cry with no tears at all!!!!! So sick of woman in court knowing all they have to do is shed a few tears and they get away with half of what a man gets.
The defense that her good grades and a good job will prevent her from reoffending has to be _the absolue dumbest_ argument. Did she not have those grades and that job while she was scheming and scamming in the first place? If she did, then if it didn't stop her from offending, it won't stop her from reoffending. If she didn't, then that means she chose to offend instead of putting in the effort in the first place. Neither option paints her in a good light.
Exactly. That defense is always such a cop-out excuse. Like, doesn't matter who the offender is - the crime should be punished
its crazy that that didnt come from her attorney but from the prosecutor. LOL
Her grades and employment had zero to do with her sentence or lack thereof. That was pure bs.
@@velocitywot9573Yes and no. It is crazy unless you wake up to the fact that the system is not about enforcing the law it's about enforcing ideology. Why do you think every gun crime is never about the criminal and always about the gun? Because guns represent the one thing those who want to oppress the people truly fear. So if you can get the people to fear that which protects their liberty enough to say "take them away!" then there exists nothing to oppose you. So this person was not against the liberal/progressive ideology therefore no need to curtail her freedom.
Props to bro for not deleting his video where he got tricked into thinking the conversation was real.

Thanks for your enthusiasm and clarity. I pride myself on knowing a lot of quirky sayings and regional idiomatic expressions, but had never heard “what a load of dirty barnacles” until today. I subscribe and abide.
The reason why the government is so light on the punishment for this type of stuff is because the government doesn’t see stuff that happens online as that serious. They don’t see it as “real” crimes because it’s “just on the internet.” So “what harm could it possibly do?”
I work at a urology clinic in MI, one day I met this woman who was in her late thirties early forties who was battling bladder cancer and at the time I met her she was going to have her entire badder removed for good. When I tell you this woman broke down in tears when she realized that was her best option after doing chemo for many years it was almost like I could feel a tiny sliver of her exhaustion. It’s so hard to understand what having cancer is like and I meet people every day who are going through the worst of it. It really sucks that someone would do what she does.
Jesus. So that means she's gonna have to use a catheter for the rest of her life?
No she’ll have to use a bag that catches the urine instead of a catheter because there’s nothing to connect to cath to
When people can get away with crimes for nonsense like "good grades" makes me think they're somehow important or connected, because most people have the book thrown at them for stuff like that when charges have already been made.
Imagine waking up one day and being like "ima tell evryone I have cancer" like wtf is going thru peoples heads
“She also made a goFundMe” there we go that’s why
As a rule, If someone puts in time and effort to dress up, put makeup on and look "good" to make a video about something supposedly serious then I immediately dont trust them. The way it's so intentional makes it feel like a manipulation tactic.
This is almost always the case with bad/fake apologies, terrible responses and i guess total scams. Like if you were genuine you'd just look and be your regular self and let your message speak for itself.
Its remminds me to that time Orson Wells faked being sorry about the whole wars of worlds thing, the guy pourposly didn't have any sleep to look tired and had tons of cigarrets to sound raspy. Thats how a good actor make himself look desperate and hopeless
No prison time for the sweet young woman... what a shock.
Law student here: the reason these sentences are usually so "light" is for two main reasons: (1) the crime is non-violent and (2) it's usually a first-time offense (like for Madison, here). There's also the question of recidivism, and the Court likely determined she was unlikely to reoffend
Also, I use "light" in quotations because parole is actually a lot tougher than most people think it is. For one, there's no credit for "good behavior," so 3 years of probation means *3 years of probation*, and not 1 day less. 2nd, if she gets so much as a DUI or public intox (common offenses for college students), she goes straight to prison for 10 years, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

i’m so glad i deleted tiktok over a year ago. straight brain rot
Who wants to bet that her attorney drudged up that story about "getting her family back together" and told her to sell that BS in court as her only "excuse"
Taking resources meant for cancer patients away from actual cancer patients is so much more malicious than "theft" describes.
As someone who lost someone to that specific cancer, this is absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy because seeing how it affects someone is terrible because it's just watching them deteriorate in the worst way possible
This is diabolical. My 9 year old nephew just got back from a follow up to see if he's still clear of Hodgkins after battling stage IV. It left an emotional crater in my family when he got diagnosed. I don't care if she was telling the truth about getting her family back together or not, that shit is traumatizing for a family to go through.
That compulsive gambler clearly had *poker*-atic cancer though!
YEAH he did lol,, and what a sleaze ball,, but he probably got his ass took by some cheaters who WEREN'T dumb enough to having to raise their stake lying on the internet... Probably stock brokers and hedge fund managers...
Poor boy 😢 I hope he's okay! Childhood cancer is just so horrible 😢
He's a healthy, growing boy now. 😀 I don't think he'll ever be the same mentally or emotionally though. Being that young and knowing there's a chance you can die, and seeing everyone around you so distraught... yeah. He used to be a super hyperactive kid, now he's really subdued. But his hair is growing back, he's going to school.
That sentencing mentioning her good grades stinks of Brock Turner sentencing energy.
