Yep, the defendant is legally entitled to representation, and lawyers are oath-bound to defend their client to the best of their ability. The only real way a lawyer can recuse themselves in these circumstances is if they catch their client lying in court, and that would just result in another lawyer being assigned to the case. Far from doing a bad job, I'm impressed the lawyer even managed to *find* a defense to bring, even if it is obvious to us (and probably them) that it was never going to wash.

As someone who works in the jail system, the sad part is she won’t serve even close to 10 years. If they say 10 years that means like 2-5 plus parole. I’ve literally seen people sentenced to 15 years, all but 365 days suspended. So they only served a year and then were let out. The justice system is beyond fucked.

@@R.DeMora Studies have been done on that, it was on negligence for babies but I'd assume it would pass onto abuse aswell. Young babies have a good grasp on whats around them, and can pick up on changes in antmosphere - though they won't remember what happened, they will probably still remember how it felt years and years down the line. Trauma is such a complex thing it wouldn't surprise me if roots and lingers, changing their reaction response to stressers or normal mundane activity. Even if that isn't true. The child will grow and they will learn of what their mother did.

Like you said, even if they don't remember, something will linger on in one way or another. Yep, the defendant is legally entitled to representation, and lawyers are oath-bound to defend their client to the best of their ability. The only real way a lawyer can recuse themselves in these circumstances is if they catch their client lying in court, and that would just result in another lawyer being assigned to the case.

As someone who works in the jail system, the sad part is she won’t serve even close to 10 years. If they say 10 years that means like 2-5 plus parole. I’ve literally seen people sentenced to 15 years, all but 365 days suspended. So they only served a year and then were let out. The justice system is beyond fucked.

I have no problem with women breast feeding in public- but I DO have a problem with women using breast feeding as an excuse to practice blatant exhibitionism. I've seen this behavior a LOT. Then same bs when baby was finished- just standing around with her tits out. @@R.DeMora Studies have been done on that, it was on negligence for babies but I'd assume it would pass onto abuse aswell. Young babies have a good grasp on whats around them, and can pick up on changes in antmosphere - though they won't remember what happened, they will probably still remember how it felt years and years down the line. Trauma is such a complex thing it wouldn't surprise me if roots and lingers, changing their reaction response to stressers or normal mundane activity.
Even if that isn't true. The child will grow and they will learn of what their mother did.

When I was 3 (or less) my mother gave me and my brother an "educational" book which very explicitly portrayed (in ugly water paint drawings) everything about anatomy and reproduction. Whilst my mother's intentions were good, it was very misguided. That book groomed me, coupled with a lack of insight into identifying CSA, it made me a prime and even willing target. Ngl, it wrecked my life. Now I wonder about the things I have no chance of remembering, that books is as far back as I can recall.

Remember, marriage is sworn between two people to be forever, but other reasons can be the cause of it ending. Sometimes cheating on one or both sides ruin it. Or perhaps someone in the marriage is abusive to their spouse and children, and marriage counseling and anger management can't save it. Marriage NEVER guarantees a stable environment for the parents or child just because it's a matrimonial contract by the court or under God. Humans are imperfect, married or not.
I've been raised by two loving parents who were never married, they broke up when I turned 20 but they did a wonderful job raising me and they never did anything to make me feel unloved, although they had their own relationship problems behind the scenes that other married people have.
I had people in my extended family who were married with kids, and things had toxic dysfunction that led with them being miserable or to drug abuse until eventual divorce followed.
Heck, some people get married for financial assets or to keep up with appearances (trying to fool people into thinking they're not homosexual or to appear to have a perfect lifestyle and partner), not because they love each other.
