If he is aware that each nation has a single hero than he's even worse than Myne. We have personally seen what the Waves do when Heroes arrive late... So imagine when Heroes never arrive. You forgot another reason: The king hates demihumans and might see this as a way to wipe them out completely. Remember how the demihuman town was attacked right after the wave before the heroes were summoned in the last episode's flashbacks of Raphtalia's past?
It explains why the queen can't go back to the capital because she's going to the other countries apologizing for the king's dumb action.
I think it’s a matter of perspective on who is the worse person in Shield Hero, Myne framed Naofumi while the King did everything in his power to make what Myne did to be even worse

I have LN version of the series.
I read both the LN (just the first four volumes and read some future spoilers of it) and manga
It is really frustrating that everyone tells naofumi to work with the others .. as if HE was the renegade that refuses to actually work with others...
Random fun fact: Melromarc was supposed to be the fifth country to summon a hero. They would only have a chance to summon a hero if an earlier summoning failed
Fourth actually, meaning they would of still had one hero but they messed up big time.
At least they wouldn't have had the shield since probably silt welt would have picked it
There are many country in this world so being the 5th is not entirely impossible. Besides, there are also another fact that lift up this reason.

Yeah, episode 1 foreshadowed a lot of things. Episode 16 answers that. What I’m referring to is how all four heroes were summoned at Melromarc by the trash king. They all said, “All four heroes together? Even the Shield Hero?” Also since the Shield Hero is supported by Demi-humans.
Also how in episode 4, they say “We should have never summoned the Shield Hero, all 3 heroes are enough.” It didn’t make sense at first, until later on when this episode answers things.
I like how the anime foreshadows things as it brings a lot of mystery, yet it answers things later.

They agreed to only summon one hero, but the king disregarded and summoned all 4. Which is why the queen is busy putting out fires. Edit, I may have misspoke a bit, but it does seem like the church of the three heroes was the one who decided to break the agreement. But trash is still trash.

That KFC joke from Naoufumi though, ha-ha. Also, Ren and Itsuki are close to see what’s really going on and such. Other than that, great review Chibi and great episode as well.
Remember how Naofumi uses a book to hide he is a hero? Itsuki hides his bow and carry a sword... even Motoyasu makes his spear less conspicuous. So, even if they know that the heroes are there, it probably is not easy to find them individually (Except Motoyasu, but Malty is with him, so...).
And about Fitoria's words. You have to imagine, this monster, that just "Omaewa..." this giant beast, that even Raphtalia, and Filo (that could hurt more the Soul Eater than the 3 atacking heroes) could not hurt, said "I am NOT STRONG ENOUGHT for this". This just shows how much the calamity that is the waves is being underestimated, also, if there are more waves, there is more drops to put on the weapons (and you know how that has worked for Naofumi).
2 Fun facts about the plot against the shield hero. They know how the legendary weapons work, so they did the plot to leave Naofumi withouth any means of improving. Naofumi should have died in the first wave, since he cant kill things, and nobody would party with him. And... the original purpose the slave dealer aproached Naofumi, would be to make him a slave, he even mentions that somebody would pay really high to have a HERO SLAVE. Since, like the blacksmith, he saw in his eyes that he did not gave up in life, he gambled on Naofumi. By how much jewels he was using last time, and how he made big discounts, you must imagine how much his gamble paid off. XD
How could anyone have him as a slave? That would start a war immediately and Naofumi wouldn't take that. Even him being weak is stronger then everyone except the other heroes.

She pisses me off why the hell is she so demanding with Naofumi, he was very careful because she showed who is boss with the T-Rex if not Naofumi would tell her to go eat shit.
I mean i get she's asking a lot from only Naofumi but the literal end of the world is at stake. If only she tried to boss all four of them together she would probably be a better character.
I think it's because she sees that Naofumi is more reosonable than the other 3.But the thing is that Motoyasu is lead on and Itsuki is too stubborn to cooperate that always causes discord.However that plan of fitorias is too radical,because 1if the heroes die the waves become harder and 2 if the King and the church don't change what stops melromarc to summon again 4 heroes?I mean fitoria is ancient, but we don't know how old the church is.If it existed as long as fitoria did,then that world was screwed big time forevewer.But if it was founded relatvely recently(since the past 2 summonings of the heroes for example) it could be resolved mor eeasy.

This is something you'll find out next episode, but Fitoria will kill the other 3 heroes if one of them dies, because all the waves get significantly harder if the world has less than four heroes still alive. This effect is so serious that it'd be a better strategy to kill them off and summon new level 1 heroes.
If the King's plans worked, then his heroes would've been killed off on him and the other nations would get to hero summon again. Basically, his plans were doomed from the start and all he did was idiotically waste time with a farce when the world was in grave danger.
Personally, I like the reveal about how extensive the Waves really are and how it plays into world building. It also goes a LONG way in explaining why they summoned Naofumi only to treat him like garbage.
Fitoria seems cool and I get her thinking about doing a reset, but Chibi is right. It would only cause more problems unless there's a way to speed up Hero leveling (which is unlikely since they would have done it already at this point if that were an option). Still, she's another example of how this series does a good job of making it clear where each character is coming from for better or worse.
a hard reset is viable. this is spoiler territory but as Fitoria says if the heroes work together from the beginning, they can fight off the waves successfully. Arguably with the way the weapons work, a new set of heroes can potentially be stronger than the current set of heroes if only they work together. unfortunately since almost every country in this world is scum, no matter which country summons all four heroes, they would never be able to unlock the heroes' true potential cause they would never work together until it is too late. i wont go into details because spoilers but I will emphasize, IF the heroes work TOGETHER, they can catch up and surpass the current set of heroes before the next wave hits.

@@kellrontaylor3419 Each of the legendary weapons has a different power up method in addition to just feeding their weapons materials. The heroes can share their power up methods with each other to drastically increase each others base stats, unlock skills they otherwise would not have and a few other benefits. But this only works if the heroes believe each others methods will work, if they think another hero is telling lies about their power up method then even if the method is real it won't work for them. This is the case with the other three heroes even after they share methods they don't believe each other so the methods don't work whereas Naofumi figures that based on how they reacted to each other they were telling the truth and figures out how to use each of their methods.
It should also be noted that despite the fact they need to share their power up methods to reach their full potential the weapons of the "Cardinal Heroes" have conflicting natures and the "Cardinal Heroes" can't gain any exp when they are within about a kilometre and a half of each other.
The reason i put emphasis on the term "Cardinal Hero" is that there are two types of hero the other type is the "Vassal Heroes". While "Cardinal Heroes" always have to be summoned from another world "Vassal heroes" are generally chosen from among a worlds native inhabitants but in the event that no worthy candidates currently exist in that world a suitable hero can be summoned from a different world. In exceptional cases a Vassal weapon will even bond to the companion of another worlds hero when they are invading the world the weapon is native to.
"Vassal heroes" also have their own power up methods that they can share with other heroes. "Vassal Heroes" are generally weaker at full strength then a "Cardinal Hero" but can adventure with each other and/or with "Cardinal Heroes" and not trigger any side effects i.e they don't lose exp when working with other heroes.
I say generally weaker because a "Vassal Hero" will be weaker then a "Cardinal Hero" at the same level who is using the exact same power up methods but if the "Vassal Hero" is using more power up methods or just different power up methods it is possible for them to be stronger then a "Cardinal Hero". As is the case in the fight against Glass as she is both a higher level and is using at least four power up methods while Naofumi and the others haven't even realised there are multiple ways to strengthen their weapons yet.
Overall it is a complicated system and i probably did not explain this in the best way but there you go.

I like that the Heroes and their weapons are effected by the former's emotions, attitude, and mental state. It helps give the emotional hurtles Noafumi and the gang have to go through that much more weight as it directly impacts their abilities/growth without feeling cheesy.
Oh no, Chibi, Myne is far far far worse than the King. But I'm beginning to wonder if we'll reach that big reveal this season.

(And no I dont read the manga)Yo you got me thinking, what if glass is some sort of lesser hero summoned by another country,and the reason why she's so powerful is because since she isn't near any other heros like at all, she's clearly going to gain more exp faster making it a good reason why she's so powerful and on top of that that would make sense for why she hates the 4 heros because she and her country view them as evil for only be loyal to melromarc.

For a long-lived being, the filolial queen is rather naive.
I think it's clear she doesn't really associate with people very often. Even if she's been helping with the other Waves, I refuse to believe Fitoria only just now had a moment to spare to come speak with a Hero. It's been *months* since the first Wave and she only now has rime? I don't buy that. Also, she has knowledge that Naofumi needed a long time ago which could have given him further reason to help fight somewhere else, but she never showed up.
It's not that she's naive, but frankly, personal vendettas are actually petty problems when the world is under attack on all fronts.
They are petty, yes. But human nature is not that simple.
I take that back. It is not petty at all. With so many elements wanting to keep the current situation as it is. A simple talk wont fix things. Bias and ignorance are one of the many things that need to be resolved before they can sit down for a discussion. The bow and sword hero are hopefully on their way to fix that.
@@Slopigami What I meant by petty is that if you weight the load on Fitoria's shoulders with the emotional load on Naofumi's. Naofumi would be crushed by Fitoria's burden.
Fitoria doesn't give a damn about one single coutry and their antics, she is trying to save the whole world, she knows the true face of the waves and knows that they aren't lukewarm enough that you can divide your attention to something else if you plan to survive then.
So while it may seem authoritarian on her part, it's sadly the truth.
It doesn't matter if the other heroes have a beef with Naofumi or they are best buds, they need to cooperate, period. Unless they like dying, this is pretty much what Fitoria meant.
And she would go to extreme lenghts to make sure she fulfills her promise to her original master.

@@shahdeenwalidsimion6209 The queen was at an inter national conference to decide which of the four largest countries (there are dozens of smaller ones which also get waves) would get to summon which hero and how each of the heroes would be shared between the largest nations and the surrounding smaller ones. The king went behind her back and ageist her orders to summon all four heroes. It takes about 30 days of straight travel by land to get from Melromark to the nation where the talks were being held so all the king had to do was wait till she was almost there and then summon the heroes that way by the time the news reached her and the leaders of the other nations it would be far to late to stop him. The other nations sent delegates to the heroes to try and convince them to ignore the king of Melromark and help their people but the ones sent for Naofumi got killed before they were able to speak with him, the ones sent for the spear hero got turned away by Myne, the ones sent to the sword and bow made it but they would not speak to the delegates as they were doing other things at the time and the church had them dealt with.

Plus, to add to your RPG analogy, Waves are basically like bosses and we know how much EXP bosses drop! So they're literally missing out on all that EXP!! Furthermore, Naofumi is level capped (actually, Raph and Filo is and he's almost there) so even MORE wasted EXP DX

Heroes have no level cap. Only his followers. His followers actually have an advantage in this because the main power of the shield is to empower them. So yes Raphtalia and Filo does have a large advantage over anyone elses followers, even at lower levels than them.
Personally, heroes like Itsuki and Motoyasu don't even need the amount of followers they have. The bow has the highest attack power of all four weapons being pretty much the mage class, and the spear the the most balanced if I remember right I could consider it an Off-tank(much stronger than real tank classes in damage, less control, but without having to keep the same level of restraint on their bursts as actual DPS classes, because they can survive hits). The Sword being pretty much the assassin class here.

@@21Noire Well Fitoria that there are more heroes, in the episode which is why I was wondering why Chibi didn't mention that.
The 4 heroes were never meant to fight together because they were meant to protect separate countries. But this also shows that EVERY one of the heroes, despite playing games like the world they are in, knows nothing about the worlds rules and how the waves work.
When the queen shows up she will say the full story about the summoning of the 4 heroes and you will be surprised

The "heroes should fight away from each other" rule is mentioned in the first episode, but things go crazy soon afterwards it's easy to forget. And with all the time Naofumi spends away travelling the country away from the other 3, maybe he is gaining experience faster than them.

Not surprised Myne is spying on them, but what is she trying to stop the two heroes from finding out because she looks worry. As cliche as the Filolial queen sounds, she is right that Naofumi and the other heroes need to get along with each other. Liked the info dump that there are more waves happening outside the country they are to protect. And Fitoria will go to the extreme.

Filo is the name of the new queen candidate, filolial is the name of their species.
XP also has a tendency to be divided amongst active players say for example in WoW if two people tag a mob both of them get half the XP.
Remember in previous episodes when the Queen was in another country due to some reunion with other countries? It sounds like she's pretty much doing damage control on behalf of her kingdom, apologising for allowing the other heroes to be summoned on her country alone and probably doing some political/diplomatic talk to evade her kingdom to be seen as an enemy by the others and be invaded. That would explain why she hasn't done anything herself to directly stop the king or helping Naofumi: she's dealing with the mess of the summoning so her kingdom can stay safe, so she sends her "shadows" and Melty to deal with the situation while she takes care of the important political issues with the other kingdoms.
She should have send melly with the order to get rid of her sister and the king so they can’t do more damage and then she would be able to come back faster and take care herself

4 heroes at peak performance have to seal a monster because they cant defeat it. X shows up and one shots it basically. Now 1 hero has to face off against X.

put all the pieces together and you see that the Queen has to directly diplomicize with the other nations to show she was not responsibe for the summoning.

In the novel, i believed that Siltvelt was prepared to go war with Melromarc just because what they did to Naofumi but because of The Queen confort them, the war was avoided. They will tell this when they Meet the queen in the last episode if the anime was adapted the way i think it should be

(Spoilers) The anime may not cover the some events and details, like what you said the all of the Heroes we're not supposed to be summoned in Melromarc and the armies of other countries really fighting the waves on their countries and they sent envoy the three heroes (Spear, Sword, Bow) but refused them, then for Naofumi there was also envoys but often intercepted by Melromarc authorities, there is a seen in the anime where the Queen is stuck that country is on high alert, and I agree on the leveling the heroes as well. But The King may be a fault, the Church (Cult) of the Three and Myne(Malty) are the one that controlling in that background for conquering the other countries and expanding their influence, not covered in the anime, but is was the Pope and Myne who convinced the King that is clouded by anger and revenge while the Queen is in a meeting with other leaders on how to summon and where to summon the Heroes. The Queen is not able to go back home because she has to negotiate and request the other countries to send envoys to all of the heroes but failed as well
Oh man, King Melromarc is lucky that he is dealing with Naofumi instead of Rimuru. He would end without one arm and one leg and all the military force of the kingdom obliterated

There's no way Naofumi can travel from where he is now to where the queen is, then to Melromarc's capital, then to another country's Dragon Hourglass, then start gaining levels again in time if he's just walking. Every day they spend without classing up, Filo and Raphtalia fall behind.

Also there are 8 of them that carriage used by BIg Birb this episode is also a Vassal weapon but because she so rarely interacts with humans and a lot of this worlds historical records have been destroyed in wars people forget the carriage was a vassal weapon and the magic carriage just got rolled into the myth of the filolial queen.

@@justanotherpoweraddict7918 Different worlds have different materials. There are weapons you can unlock in one world which you can't in another but if you take a weapon to a different world then its native one it can still unlock new forums reminiscent of the weapons used by the native heroes.

I agree with is logic but the situation is way worse if she goes and kills every hero. It will be talked about in the Spirit Turtle arc on what happens if a hero dies and the waves are not finished.
also note that Fitoria didnt call them Saint Heroes, but Cardinal Heroes, not much more to coment on that since changing the name doesnt really do much more, but it shows that even the names, the proper names of the heroes have been changed and mutated in human society

Suffice to say one religion worships all four heroes equally, one is human supremacist and sees the shield hero as an incarnation of the devil, one sees the shield hero as a reincarnation of the god who created demihumans and believes the other three heroes and their worshippers are evil. So the three religions don't like each other much and the nations that support them are almost always at war.

Damn I really wish you made the titles even more obscure. I work overtime right now so I sadly have no time to watch latest anime when it comes out. I'm subscribed to you because I don't know anybody who actually watched this, or any, seasonal anime so this is the best I have to talk about it, but I wish you didn't spoil some major plot points in the title for those who just can't keep up straight away. Honestly, from a political standpoint, it DOES make sense for the king to not share the other heroes. After the waves are done, the king could immediately take over the other lands. I know it’s not moral but politics typically aren’t to begin with. Leaders and kings of powerful countries typically only care about benefitting their own country. If this happened in the real world, I’d support my country doing this. No offense to other countries :P

If I remember right it was mentioned in episode one or two that even Melromarc tried to fend off a wave, the one that effected Raftalia's village, they obviously survived but their army took heavy casualties defending what they could. Now it seems that the king and the church are trying to play game of thrones using the hero summoning as to their advantage politically. Im really curious to see what the Queen of Melromarc has had to say to keep the other nations from seeking retribution.
the rising of the shield hero episode 16 was ok seeing all the filolials and there Queen surround the T-rex and the music for the scene was pretty good. The food scene was nice and I guess even Naofumi think its like KFC. Seeing Ren and the bow hero looking into the 3 hero church was great but when Malty is involved with something nothing will go well and I guess Naofumi is gonna have to fight the Queen. Overall the start of the episode was ok but by the end it got better and I can't wait for next weeks episode
I feel like Fito is also short sighted in assuming the other kingdoms could pull off another summoning and not be greedy like Melromarc taking all of the heroes for themselves especially in the chaos that is ensuing right now. If she really wants the heroes to stop fighting or to fight the other waves across the kingdoms well you might as well grab each one and toss them in a different kingdom. They wouldn't get back that quickly and well if they even thought about leaving they'd be branded as enemies so they'd probably stay to fight the waves out of Pride or fear.
Her decision-making process is definitely flawed. Also, she should have shown up months ago to give this information that Melromarc is not providing.
Waves get more difficult when Heroes die. Even assuming new Heroes are summoned the next day after Fitoria kills all four we have, there's no way level 1 Heroes will level up fast enough to defeat some super charged Waves, or Glass if she shows up again.

(This already was said in LN) Queen of Merlomarc is constantly on diplomatic journeys around her country to prevent wars from happening, they were supposed to summon heroes internationally, but king was most likely manipulated by Myne and church tu summon them on their own. It caused lot's of problems for queen and she have really hard time keeping peace. Due to fact that king is ignoring letters, and rumors about bad treatment of shield, queen decided to send Melty to bring him to heel, but we already know how that ended up thanks to Naofumi's stubbornness and church.

Fitora basically says to Naofumi that she's the one handling the other waves in the other countries. Also mentioned in the webnovel, the other heroes have been traveling to other countries,which is why they were there in the church when Naofumi bought the holy water for Raphtalia, they have just returned and wanted to sync with Melromarc's Dragon Hourglass.
The big problem in melromarc is the Power hierarchy.
The bigboss of Melromarc is the Queen, she do everything alone and didn't even flinch on that.
But who is the second? Who get the bigboss's name once the Queen isn't in her own country?
It's not the King, He's third on this Role. Its not Myne, despite being under everything bad in Melromarc once the Queen isn't here, she's not powerfull. Someone else taking the place of the Ruler of Melromarc.
But he didn't like to show himself as The Allmighty leader of the country, because he's not legally the boss, if he show himself, he will be spotted as a traitor. Instead, he do what he want in the Shadow, and let the puppet-King take the role of the bad boss.
Again, if I was the Shield Hero, I'd take as many different human's and demihumans as I possibly can, and sack Melromarc as soon as the waves are over.
And with this revelation, I don't think that it would be hard to convince anyone from the neighboring countries.

yea your correct. the king and the church wanted to keep the 4 cardinal heroes to themselves. This is so that it would be easier for them to conquer the other countries. As for the shield hero, they wanted to kill him but could not since it would bring a bad image to them. So instead they hope that by destroying his status and giving him less help when it came to fighting the waves, he would die on his own. As for why the countries haven't responded, not only the waves are keeping them busy, but the queen is visiting them to get negations so they wont be fighting each other. As for why the heroes were summoned at once at the place, it was the church or cults doing without permission from the queen.
It is also the reason why in the 3rd wave, the Spear, Sword and Bow hero only used lighting abilities. Bc they only obtained skills specific to Melromarc.
Also isnt the next wave, wave 4 cuz the heroes werent summoned until after wave 1.
The four heroes in the same group is an RPG balancing issue. The system is trying to balance the waves to the combined strength of the hero team. While the encounter where they all team up might be handled more easily, ALL the waves scale up which means the areas without heroes are facing 4 times the danger.
I haven't caught up with the episode's but I do remember that naofumi kind of synchronize with the giant hour glass for the waves so I'm guessing the other hero's did as well and may be that's why they don't gain that much exp if naofumi can get to another country and sync with the hour glass there and we know he can hold his own with his harm they can level up and also chose there class from that country. I haven't caught up with everything so I might be pulling at straws but I mean it sounds feasible
