Yeah Ren apologized for the issue with the Dragon Plague. Sword Hero is the most likable and more redeemable compared to the Bow and Spear Heroes.

Exactly. I recall Motoyasu saying "This isn't some consequence-free playground! Know your place!" Though I'm surprised he didn't mention the false rape to try and turn the tables on Naofumi.
The Heroes welcome did got into the other three's heads. They are no different than the pope. Naofumi owned them again, and He has no chill when spilling the tea. His character always amazes me.
He got to see all 3 stooges together and he did not give a flying fuck about the promise with the Filolial queen, thanks to motoyasu he just set them on fire then threw some more gasoline until he had a bonfire!

After watching One Piece for so long I didn't think a good recap episode was possible.
And the different Naruto series.
This was one lit episode: so much roasting and burning occured.
And it was more effective than Myne's magic.
More effective than Myne's magic and the self burning curse combined.
This episode shouldn’t be called the four cardinal heroes, it should be called the Real Hero roasting 3 Incompetent Heroes.

I honestly think Naofumi might have been willing to wait to chew the idiots out until after the fight. Personally, I think it was kind of dumb of them to let the Pope charge up, but it makes sense that the heroes and how they were acting was just the last straw for Naofumi and it's pretty believable that he would blow a gasket. I am with Chibi in that it's better to have the Pope waiting and charging than just twiddling his thumbs for no reason. The mechanics of the fight do lend a lot of credibility as to him not acting for a moment while the Heroes talked.

And in the manga he was alot nicer than in the light novel

He's a jerk with a heart of gold regardless of the adaptation. The jerk part just varies depending on which you're talking about.
Hope it ends with naofumi gets to absorb that relic into his shield and free power boost for all his people

@@spencercox7931 Plot Twist, the 4 weapons actually does have that copy ability, they can just transform their weapons into a duplicate when holding one, For Example if Naofumi holds a shield made of diamonds for instance on his other hand, he can transform his Holy Shield into that diamond shield + all of its abilities without having to absorb it.
Oh just wait for episode 21. Once the queen comes, Justice WILL BE SERVED!

Man after the shit they pulled in ep 15 and 16, they had me worried but when Naoufmi told em off I was like " oh thank God, they didn't ruin his character". I still wished they had kept the part where he told Motoyasu he should just die, but I over all prefer this execution over the manga.
@TigerClaw! In ep 15 Raphtalia spared her former slave owner claiming that killing him would only make her just as bad as him, she genuinely thought she was bad person when she thought she had killed him.
In ep 16 when Fitoria asked Naoufmi if he had tried harder to clear his name, Naoufmi thinks to himself that he really didn't try but ran away implying that he thinks his situation is partially his fault also.

They also need to earn each other’s trust, which is another reason, since Naofumi could get to spend some time with each individual hero and learn more about their past and why they’re like how they are, and they get to learn that Naofumi is actually being framed for themselves, not just because they hear he’s been framed

You know a story is good when people can talk about it and show their emotions passionately
This proves the other three hero’s are stupid, instead of charging the Pope when he ran out of mana they decided to perform a the hero’s team up cliche moment. Noafumi just stopped judgement and is severely underleveled by comparison. They didn’t think to attack so they could live out otaku fanboy moments
Naofumi didn't attack either so he's dumb too
But Naofumi’s a pure tank. His only option is to make sure his people know the game plan and get their support spells ready. Unlike the other three who were having their otaku moment. And it paid off because he was able to easily block that Brionac attack.
It's not a Heroes team up Cliche moment. It was a reunion moment and they've done it correctly.
Not to mention, he just had to block an attack that required three skills and the rage shield. Probably exhausted

Naofumi needed to say his peace, he had to tell them how he feels before he could put his emotions on hold to work with the other three. Plus they had to sneak in a recap because it is end of a major arc, in the manga/LN there wasn’t a recap. Instead of needing to be charged, it took some time to chant.
I feel like Naofumi was being a little harsh to Ren considering he has already been shown to have realized and reflected on his mistake.
Phoenix_Dreams if this anime continues after season 1 you'll see Ren become worse than Motoyasu
I'm kinda with you there. He's still dragged his feet in making amends with the villagers, but you could pretty easily make the argument that he just hasn't had the time between the Wave, the "kidnapping", and investigating the Cult. Ren is by no means above reproach, but he's also the only hero who's shown any potential for change.

@@micah459 To be fair to Naofumi, all 3 of them do take their good sweet time in actually taking the world seriously (at least in the LN/WN chapters I've seen). Also, keep in mind that a big part of Naofumi and his character is that he has trust issues from what Myne did to him, so it makes sense that it'd take a lot for him to trust any of them after seeing the damage they've each caused.
I do want to see if the anime tackles Ren and his issues from a certain angle given that his flaws stem more from insecurities and a lack of social skills while Spear and Bow are just caught up in their own egos and fantasies.

That was GOD TIER TROLLING it's ON AIZEN'S LEVEL if not surpassing it.
The difference is that to the end the other heroes still think its all a game. Mostly because they have been out there living easy and getting glory; they still see the other persons as mostly npcs because they haven't taken the time to connect with them. Naofumi held Raphtalia in her night terrors, he helped her grow and has seen her improve; thats why he knows its not a game.
It gets even worse than that when you see a little bit later on what else the other three Heroes think about this world.

I really hated this episode from a light novel reader prospective the roast is anime original and was completely not needed considering the situation. Some of the events did happen like the bow and sword joining in in both the light novel and manga naofumi worked with others but instead of roasting while the pope it getting stronger by the second killing all urgency I feel. I would of rather them take the week off to make the fight as great as possible than this. I’m probably noticing flaws more because i love the light novel for this a lot and wish this adaptation was better than what we got

It really honestly didn't feel like a recap. It was so necessary to let Naofumi speak his mind to clear the air between him and the other so called heroes, I needed him to say the things I had been saying for days since I started watching the anime about a week ago. I am looking forward to the next episode, I am down for more satisfaction in this fight in episode 20! :D

while talking about breaking cliches: i love series where people actually change their clothes. like Shiki or Red Garden.
Something we may see in say season two, since the other hero's point out there's a way to copy new weapons of the same type as yours to unlock it (though likely a weaker version then if you had absorbed its components) if the popes weapon was salvaged it may serve as a tool to unlock further skills for each hero as they copy it with their own weapons. Or the fragments of that weapon evenly devided may create a loophole in the weapons mechanics allowing say sword to now use a bucket like the plant shield too, simularly Spear may now be able to vie said loophole now dual yeald his spears.

i kind of notices this episode recaps the 3 heroes actions a bit but it didn't really click till chibi pointed it out ^_^ but still in my mind this is maybe my top 3 best recap episode i have ever seen in terms of actual character progression in the mean time with that perfect roust Naufumi gave those 3 noobs to basically start thinking maturely as they act as heroes a very good ep and im hyped for the next one
