  • In this video you will learn about the pros and cons of Finasteride / Propecia (Finasteride is the active ingredient in Propecia). I was on Fin for a little over a year. i experienced a decrease in sex drive about 3 - 4 months in. After doing research I decided to find a natural way to end hair loss that didn't include sexual side effects and completely stop taking Finasteride.
By the way, I did make a full recovery. About 3 weeks after I completely came off finasteride, I felt 100% back to normal.

@ I am going to try it. I hope my balls don't shrivel up, go impotent or lose my sex drive. I have been trying the shampoo for 5 years since 22 but it's clearly not doing anything. I recently started going on Minoxidil for 3 months now. It has helped grow little back of my hairline that I had lost for years but it's minimum. I don't think it's going to help the problem that causing my hair to thin out. I am 27 and my mid/front scalp looks like straw. Still have hair but it's miniaturised and my scalp can be visible in the light. I don't know if I should go slow and take 3x per week or take it everyday.

Just so you know...any "natural" drug that stops hair loss is literally operating through the exact same mechanism as prescription hair loss medications. The pharmacology is exactly the same. For instance, saw palmetto also inhibits 5-alpha reductase. It's just a much weaker inhibitor so maybe the side effects are less, but take enough of it, and you'll have the exact same side effect profile as finasteride due to lower DHT levels and its impact on libido. There is no known "natural" or "herbal" remedy that somehow stops hair loss without operating through the known mechanisms of hair loss medications. It's either through 5-AR inhibition (finasteride and saw palmetto to a much, much lesser degree) or vasodilation (Rogaine or peppermint hair oil to a much lesser degree). That's pretty much it. So you'll literally be selling things to people that do the same thing as well-studied prescription medications, just at a much lower strength and with much poorer long-term results and with likely the same side effect profile but to a lesser degree. But because it's "natural", people somehow associate it with no side effects at all. So...I guess...good luck?

Yea I kept reading comments about people complaining that they are no real cure for baldness even at this age and with current technology and pharmaceutical advancement. Truth is the cure is right in front of us. Finasteride/dutasteride are all cures. They inhibit production of DHT in our body which is the root cause of hair miniaturization and baldness but it just so happen that dht is also a androgen(male sex hormone) inhibiting it may cause sexual side effects. It is just that simple, the hormone that the root cause of baldness is also an male sex hormone. There is no way around this, I don’t think u can only inhibit dht solely on your scalp, there are topical and injection finasteride but people still get sides on them. If you wanna prevent baldness you have to inhibit dht as a whole

    • @gabelandy5253
      @gabelandy5253 4 роки тому

@@subie1019 Yes unfortunately that is the situation right now. I do believe one day there will be medication that will ONLY inhibit 5-AR that is specific to the hair follicle rather than all of the 5-AR in the body. That would really solve the side effect issue but it would have to be a very targeted, advanced medication. Probably down the pipeline for a few decades yet. But yes there are remarkable treatments between 5-AR inhibitors/minoxidil/new therapies like exosomes/and supplementation with a hair transplant. You can keep a decent head of hair for decades with the current technology if you're willing to make the effort.

Gabe Landy my assumption on finasteride side effects is based on the 2 type of balding guys
      1. Normal scalp sensitivity to dht, but balding onset by high testosterone/dht
      2. High scalp sensitivity to dht but Low testosterone/dht.
I think the 2nd group of people are more likely to experience side effects as with Low test and Low DHT, suppressing dht is going to further reduce the amount of androgens(male sex hormones) in their body. Whereas in the first group surpressing dht by finasteride which is around 60-70% won’t have an significant effect on their androgen functions as they already had high and spare androgens to began with. This is just my assumption, I’m no scientist or doctor

@@subie1019 I mean, I think you are totally correct in that there are different types of hair loss, and it is usually the perfect storm with finasteride that causes bad side effects. But it is exceedingly rare. Perhaps a patient who's follicles are extremely sensitive to DHT and also has low DHT levels to start, who suddenly takes a bit hit from finasteride in terms of the DHT levels really dropping. But that's why these cases are so rare - probably on the order of less than 1%.

    1) There are no scientifically proven ways to naturally reverse or even completely stop hair loss; balding in of itself is natural and if you try on weak natural products to treat the balding process which is natural, then you’ll likely fall short.
    2) If you are early in your hair loss stage and waste time with ‘natural’ unproven hair loss products, you will have wasted thousands of dollars and thousands of hair follicles. Trust me, I spent years doing everything you can think of as correct as possible and none of them worked. If you waste your time going down the ‘natural route’, then you’ll never save your hair. Balding is natural, and natural things won’t stop this natural process. It’s good to be natural when it comes to a wholesome diet, but it has its limitations with regards to hair loss.
    3) Drugs with pharmaceutical power are needed. All the natural products which have anti-5AR activity are, AT BEST, weak 5-AR inhibitors that are not strong enough to work as well as a drug. They also are often absorbed very poorly, unlike a drug that is standardized and tested.
    4) Natural products have side effects too.
    5) Finasteride is the only drug that works and is the safest. Side effect profile of the drug is very low. We have very well done studies of years and five years. Randomized controlled trials with large sample sizes. We ALSO have very long term 10 year studies on the drugs where doctors did follow-ups and tests on patients who used Finasteride for 10 years, from different countries, and the sexual side effects among all of them was only 6-7%, and when adjusted for age and placebo, it was truly like 2-3%. You cannot get more evidence than that of low sexual side effects. Which means:
    6) Most people claiming to have sexual side effects fall in one of FOUR categories:
    1) Scam artists who sell useless natural hair products.
    2) Scam artists from a hair loss forum or UA-cam who wants ad revenue or new members.
    3) Someone who has preexisting heath issues like low sex drive and didn’t notice it until they took Finasteride and blamed Finasteride; people who had preexisting morbidities such as diabetes and obesity (fat increases estrogen and lowers Testosterone), which means they had low Testosterone before taking the drug and the drug only made it worse because when they blocked DHT they had no T to fall back on.
    4) They suffer from the “no placebo” effect. This effect has been well tested and studied and shows that if someone has a negative stigma of a drug before using it because they heard bad things, they will tell themselves they will get the same side effects and actually convince themselves that they got it when the drug never gave them the side effects.
All Finasteride does is block about 70% of your DHT, but not all of it. Men still have 30% leftover DHT and with normal Testosterone levels, that’s more than enough for healthy sex drive. And by the way, estrogen is the main regulator of sex drive in men. Finasteride also increases Testosterone. It has been used for decades and is very safe, not toxic to the liver or kidneys, etc. Some populations of the world have genetic polymorphisms with regard to 5-AR activity and are just fine and healthy. After puberty, adult men have very little need for DHT. It is mainly a sexual maturation hormone for puberty and after that it only plays a small role in sex function, etc. After puberty, men usually produce too much and it leads to feeding prostate cancer, aging you fast, and making you bald with lots of body hair, just as too much Estrogen in women feeds breast cancer, etc.

James Grieve Bro I am 22 now since yesterday was my birthday. I’ve taken fin for 6 months now, and I am telling you it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. My hairline was aggressively beginning to recede around last summer, I fucked around with “natural” remedies till I decide to use fin around Nov 2019. Since then my hairline has completely stopped receding. I experienced a limp dick for a week on month 2, but didn’t give up on the drug. Everything went back to normal after a couple of days. Just don’t give up until you reach at least month 4. Stick with it.

No problem. And get this guys. If you really wanna try something to help prevent any possible side effects into the future, you can do what hair loss doctors do, which is cycle Finasteride. Every 6 or 12 months you can stop using Finasteride for one month and then go back on it. This will allow your body to shore up any backlog demand of DHT it might need for small things like Allopregnanolone. Then restart it after the month is over.
Finasteride has a hair half life of a few months, so you won’t lose much of any ground doing a month off cycle every 6 months or year. And if you really want to make sure you don’t lose ground, while you are off Finasteride for a month, you can take topical RU45881 typically in higher doses like 50-100mg to ensure you don’t lose any small ground that month you cycle.
That’s what I do and I never lose ground. Again, though, side effects are very low on the drug without cycling, but I do that as a bonus anyway to make sure I stick in for long term success. So if you’re concerned with side effects that’s a good option. But I never had any.

    • @Ms452123

@James Grieve Like most guys i have been slowly receding back in high school but never noticed till college. If i go back and look at old pics its clear that i was losing hair. But you know hindsight.
It took last summer when i finally buzzed my hair to finally see that i am losing my temples, plus my barber confirmed it. I decided to find a solution. My brother is bald, nor wood 3, my maternal grandfather is bald, and my mom though she wont admit it has a lot of hair loss. So my DHT sensitivity is super high. But i am lucky that i caught it before it became totally noticeable to strangers. I use fin 3 times a week, not everyday. Like the other guy mentioned the half life of the drug last more than 24 hrs, so there really no point in taking it everyday unless you want to be superrrrr cautious. This way one bottle last me 2 months rather than one, so i save money, and i lower the chances of side effects.

Statistically, it's a trivial amount of men who suffer the adverse side effects of finasteride and significantly fewer report them to be irreversible. 5AR-inhibitors have been prescribed for men with prostrate issues since 1992, yet nobody complained about "Post-finasteride syndrome" until years after Finasteride was approved to treat hair loss (The mid-late 2000's). Kind of strange, right? I'm not doubting the fact that this drug can cause side effects, but continued side effects well after the discontinuation of the drug seems unlikely. Also, isn't it kind of strange that the people who claim to have "post-finasteride syndrome" only continue to have the bad side effects from inhibiting 5-Alpha Reductase, yet discontinue to see the positive effects from inhibiting 5-Alpha Reductase (Slowing down hair loss)?

    • @BlahBlahPoop617

      Brosse
Even those who “self report” so called “permanent” side effects are questionable to me, because, statically, a number of those who self report will always be wrong and the number of such reports are already very low.
And if you look at these so called finasteride help forums, they are full of men who have poor health to begin with. Many were obese, had diabetes, depression, low sex drive, low T, before beginning the drug, yet somehow blame the drug. And many make bogus claims, where they blame everything from low sex drive to their anus burning on taking finasteride. (Yes, that is a true story!).
To make things worse, these forums often have ads for lawyers who prey on these folk to try to get easy money from suing the drug companies. Huge conflict of interest if you ask me. Or ads from snake oil companies selling “natural products” and making bogus claims that they reverse hair loss when they do not.
People have been taking finasteride for decades with very low reports of side effects, yet somehow that blows up once the internet comes along. Very questionable to me.
And while there is no guarantee of no side effects by using it in the scalp instead of infesting it, the chances of side effects (which is already low with oral ingestion) is even much lower when applied on the scalp because, as studies show, much less systemic absorption takes place, which means less plasma DHT being lower and just mainly scalp-hair DHT being effected.
Like the forums, UA-cam is full of these video makers who are spreading the fear mongering and lying to push their “brand” to get views and as revenue, or sell snake oil supplements that don’t reverse hair loss.
Such people try to find a ‘niche’ in the market to pander to, where people with concerns can be sucked in so they can get viewers and ad revenue and/or sell their products. It’s a huge disservice.
And with all that said, if one looks into the term “post-finasteride syndrome”, they’ll find that it’s a bogus term that has no foundation and is more like bro science, and has never been proven.

I used this exact same line of reasoning before I started taking finasteride. I've been taking the smaller than the recommended dose for about 7 months to reduce the odds of getting side effects even further, but since the last 20 days I've been experiencing effects I've never felt in my life.
I don't want to scare anyone or anything. Frankly, I have no idea what's causing this. But I'm healthy and I'm not taking any other drugs and I've suddenly turned from a horny rabbit to someone that can't feel any pleasure from orgasms. I really hope it's not permanent but I've decided to stop taking the drug because I don't know what else to do.

There is no pharmacological basis for any side effects to last more than a month after stopping the drug. The placebo effect is a powerful thing. I've also learned from a derm that 1mg three times a week is sufficient lowers the chance of any side effects even more. I'm starting on lower, .6 3x/week, to wean onto it. One week in and no side effects.

Is it possible that post-finasteride syndrome is confused with the long time the drug remains on the skin? It is said that a simple dose of 1mg can remain on the skin for at least 30 days, so daily intake would lead to an over-accumulation in the body. In addition, it takes 3-6 months for the body to rid itself of the drug.

      @ichigo2012hollowmask 3 роки тому

@@williamperri3437 Dude, Saw Palmetto is a weak 5AR inhibitor so it's chemically not different from finasteride at all. You're just applying a very weak version of fin on your scalp when you use Saw Palmetto. If you're worried about sides, lower the dosage of finasteride to 1/2 or even 1/4 of your usual dose and/or lower the frequency taken. You don't have to take it everyday, you could do 1mg every 2/3 days or 0.5mg every other day. The response curve for finasteride flattens out after a certain dosage so 0.5mg of fin could have 80% the reaction of 1mg of fin without incurring side effects. Finasteride stays in your body for over a month in just one dose which is why you can experiment with lowered dosages. One person might need 2mg of finasteride while another can get by with just 0.5mg every few days.

10 years lol? Post finasteride sindrom is not real lol. You know why?
So...ALL side effects are because of lowering DHT. You know why you have to use contantly finasteride? Because your DHT will elevate to your normal levels and thats why you have to take it for the rest of your life. If you have side effects which are "DHT related" 10 years after taking it....YOU ARE BASSICALLY SAYING THAT YOU HAVE LOW DHT WITHOUT FINASTERIDE. BRAVO...YOU FOUND CURE FOR BALDNESS YOU DONT NEED FINASTERIDE ANYMORE BECUZ IT LOW ALL THE TIME...if your hair fell out after quiting finasteride thats the sign of elevating your DHT levels to normal. When you experience hair loss after finasteride that means your hormones are normal so all side effects will be removed..EXCEPT if you are experiencing placeboo effect for side effects xd. Long story short..its all in your head lol
If you have side effects 10 years after finasteride I expect that you also have full head of hair. Because it's still "working" for you. You must have positive and negative effects.

There are studyes wjere they comlared placeboo to DUTASTERIDE 2,5MG (5 times highes dose and 90% reduction od DHT) and there was no difference. Placeboo side effects are VERY VERY similar to group which is taking fin. First what you have to do is lowering the dose. If that doesnt work tjan you take topical finasteride. I am using like 5 DROPS a day. Its super effective for now and serum levels are little descreased. Much lower than oral. Trust me that ALL side effects which continue to happen after fin are placeboo. You know how you can check it? Test your blood and see your DHT levels. If they are normal that's it. Your side effects are not due to fin BECAISE IT ONLY LOWERS DHT. Of you dont have lower dht its placeboo effect. Understood? It's that simple.
