Would this work with the original Star Ocean 2 voice clips? - Back in the day before voices were apart of game play, So had a few hundred mini voice clips in the game. And every time you got a new one, it opened up a little square on the main menu. Unlock enough of them and you start to see the picture it forms. - Trouble is, it could take a ton of play throughs to get em all, and you only had 15 slots on a ps1 mem card. So im wondering if this memcard pro could hold more then that 15 games, AND have the game recognize it and load up all those voice clips unlocked form the different files.

But decided dont need two systems that essentially do the same thing... Minus a few features i dont care much about anyway
This would be great if it actually worked, but it doesn't. I bought one from 8bitmod and waited a month for it to arrive (spent a few weeks in customers) and it's turned out to be a disappointing waste of money that did not live up to the hype. I tried both a 2 GB SanDisk microSD card and a 256 GB "High Endurance" microSD card. Both purchased new. Both formatted in the "SD Card Formatter" tool linked to in their manual. The 256 GB microSD card formats to exFAT using that tool which the manual says is supported. I was able to update the firmware per the directions as well and when I load up a game the little screen does display the game I am playing. The problem is that I can't actually use this to save or load games whereas I have no problems using a real memory card. For example, I tried testing with "Heart of Darkness" which has an ability to save before you even start playing. The game says the card is unformatted which is normal. It asks me to format and I do so. Afterwards it checks and says again that it's unformatted. It gets stuck in an infinite loop. Then I tried "Jade Cacoon". I loaded a save file from a real memory card and then tried to save to the memcard pro. It again says that the card is unformatted. I tell it to format and it takes me to the page to save a game, but when I try saving it says "save failed". When I try again it says the card is unformatted. I took a look at the microSD card in my computer. I see that it did indeed created a "MemoryCards" folder within which it created 3 subfolders: "MemoryCard1", "SLUS-00696", and "SLUS-00854" and inside each of those is 8 virtual memory cards in a .mcd format. There's also a text file in two of the folders with the name of the game as the file name. I just can't actually use the memory cards in a console! I also tested trying to copy saves from a real memory card to the memcard pro. That didn't work either. At least with the the virtual memory cards that this creates. When I tried copying over to it an ePSXe virtual memory card and renaming it to replace one of the memcard pro files I was actually able to copy a game from a PS1 real memory card to it. However, I can't save or load to the memcard pro even using these so it's not just a program with the virtual memory card format. I repeated the above steps with a 2 GB microSD card. The "SD Card Formatter" doesn't let you choose the format and so it got formatted from the FAT32 format it came in to FAT16. The manual says it only supports FAT32 and exFAT. Regardless I gave it a try, but the results were essentially the same. The only difference was that "Heart of Darkness" actually froze while trying to format the microSD card essentially meaning that contrary to what the manual says the "SD Card Formatter" decreases compatibility. I then tried repeating with another formatter - FAT32 GUI Formatter - and had the same results as I had the first time. It would be helpful if there was a list of tested working microSD cards and/or a working games list just in case the games I play or the cards I use aren't compatible, but there doesn't appear to be any documentation aside from a manual that assumes it all works. So far at least it doesn't work and ended up being a huge waste of time and money. Side note: I think that "SD Card Formatter" tool is stupid because it doesn't let you choose your format. For most console mods the SD cards need to be in FAT32 format which can work up to 2 TB and I have no problems with any other mods I use so I don't understand why they make you use that formatter specifically. That formatter also doesn't work in computers that use internal multicard readers so I had to format on my laptop which is slower whereas "FAT32 GUI Formatter" just works. In any case, if anyone has had similar experiences and knows of any trouble shooting steps I would appreciate it. Note that I am using an original playstation one with Xstation. Real memory cards work in all games. This is the only device with issues.
So, turns out the "Memcard Pro" has an unadvertised compatability issue with new controller extension cables. If they are unshielded it picks up interference which transfers to the console and then transfers through the bus to the memory card ports. Normally this doesn't cause a problem for memory cards, but since the Memcard Pro operates at 10 times the frequency as real memory cards they are more vulnerable to the interference. The solution is to either use a multitap (which filters out the noise from the controllers) or an official Sony extension cable (assuming they even exist anymore) or a wireless dongle like a Retro Fighters PS1 controller. While it's technically not their fault that this is a problem I do fault them for not informing customers ahead of time on what products to avoid using with the Memcard Pro. I hear they are working on an update to resolve this problem though and when they have it complete this will be better than those off brand PS1 memcards which are prone to corruption.
Every time I try an expanded memory card they fail and I lose my saves, this concerns me. Also, for 65 bucks I could buy several memory cards and that would probably be enough.
I pre ordered mine a couple weeks back. The auto recognition of games with the xstation had me sold. I wonder if save state could be a future feature together with xstation 🤔
They need a ftp app for it would totally be worth it and make it for both ps1 and ps2 or do they have one? I would buy it just to have and replace my mcboot memory card
Crossing my fingers for a ps2 version. Also dreamcast with display, og xbox and gamecube i guess. Ill grab one when things get better..... That tonyhax thing looks awesome. I just got a modchip ps1 which i had for a long time.
Please someone show how to move emulator saves & old Dex reader files on to this device or even stock card ive tried everything shows zero when I boot PS1
If I was stranded on a island that happened to have electricity I think the 3 consoles I would choose would be PlayStation 2 (because it can also play PlayStation 1 games), and GameCube, and Nintendo 64.
I have 133 ps2 discs, my ps2 drive is faulty... I want and ODE for the ps2, like the Xstation, yeah I know you could do a hdd, but I have had bad luck with FMCB simply failing on me
Beats my generic floppy disk drive that takes like a minute to load or two to five minutes to dump the memory card to. Also risked writing to bad floppies. About a year before DexDrive so I couldn't download internet saves.

Interesting. Thanks for the writeup!
Perfect for Tonyhax right ?
Is there one for a ps2 or does it work on the ps2
How would this work with emulators?
If I was stranded on a island that happened to have electricity I think the 3 consoles I would choose would be PlayStation 2 (because it can also play PlayStation 1 games), and GameCube, and Nintendo 64.
This thing looks great but I think they missed the opportunity to make it more like the PocketStation.
Or can you put this memory card fw on a rooted phone and do the same thing but have a bigger display?
All I need is a sega genesis with a controller and the full library no need for the other two🤘🏽💯
I have 133 ps2 discs, my ps2 drive is faulty... I want and ODE for the ps2, like the Xstation, yeah I know you could do a hdd, but I have had bad luck with FMCB simply failing on me
Nice to have two memory cards just in case you lose one or the card stops working.
music name at the beginning
Will this work on a ps2?
I legit almost skip on this video just by lookin at the date of the upload... glad I didn't!
hope that make sum thing like this for the ps2 and dreamcast and gamecue lol can't wait to get my mem pro need to backup up 40 ps1 mem card lol
Beats my generic floppy disk drive that takes like a minute to load or two to five minutes to dump the memory card to. Also risked writing to bad floppies. About a year before DexDrive so I couldn't download internet saves.
