Glad I found this! I also found where some stihl bars had smaller port oil holes. I have a 500i and Im constantly seeing sparks from the bar. I used thinner oil and still seeing it. Imma do this to get more oil out there. This is the only saw that does that.
Great info, thank you. Would this work on an MS400? MS400 owners are swapping to high-flow 462 oilers, to handle longer bars. No one I've found, have mentioned a restrictor pin in the MS400. Lots of high-flow pump info, over on Brian2bears channel.
Thanks for the info. I wonder why stihl even put the pin there in the first place. They should have known people are gonna run bigger bars. Also i have one more question how much bar oil should a chainsaw use? Does it depend on bar length? Not many videos on it thanks
No problems with my oiler on the 400. Set from maximum to 2/3, seems to be enough for the 25" bar. No hight temperatures on the chain cutting hardwood.

I sure appreciate the information I thought it was something wrong with my 661 running a 32 or 36 I was burning up chains
good info ,i have no new saws but still good to know
That’s a good thing to know. I miss my manual oiler on the old Homelite SXL. You could always add extra beyond auto oiler when needed.
I just got a 462 and it seems to be very light on oil. I’m using some very thick oil and going try Stihl oil next outing. Hope it flows better.
Thanks man!
Thank you
Good video , thanks.

As a general rule of thumb, the longer the bar the more oil one needs. It also depends on what species one is cutting, 👍🪓🌲🇮🇪

Is it the same on MS 362 ?
Hey rich can you pull the roll pin out instead of driving it into the case?
Path of least resistance my friend. Just a little "tappy tap" and ur done
Do you have an available ms462 oil pump with worm.gear
