Excellent video. And thank you for sharing that the HO pump piston is the part from the 461. I just replaced the pump piston on my 441 but now realize I was sent the correct control bolt but the pump piston was exactly the same as my old one even though it came in a paper packet with the right part number on it. Got ripped off. But at least now I know what to look for and what to order. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Well done.
Excellent video. Very informative. I've never been that far into a saw. I agree more oil on the bar and chain is better, the oil doesn't do any good in the jug. 👍🏻
Super informative video Rod !! I hadn’t seen anyone do this procedure before, most just swap out the oiler from a 461 - complete. I like the way you did it 👍 Great camera work too ⛓🪚👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
Hey Rod , very nice video . A lot of great info . I also usually put a new e clip in my stuff because I launch them into never never land when I am removing them . I like my oil to run out at the same time as my fuel . Have a good one my friend !!! 👍🏻🇺🇸
I launched one the other day . Thank god for editing . I believe UA-cam would have banned me for life . I wish you were going to be at the Bunyan show but I understand . Have you found a garden tractor yet ?
Nice one! My lil ms 250 is a different much simpler design. I learned a lot taking it apart many times trying to fix my mistakes knock off parts and silly mistakes. Learned a lot and in the end it was fun learning. Oem in my case was much better. Satisfying fix. Sounds like a great upgrade! Have a great day!
Thanks Stan! Can’t go wrong with OEM. Still haven’t ran it since the upgrade but it should good to go now. Gonna do I little cutting here in a couple days. Appreciate ya watching!👍🏻
FWIW, IMO the stock MS400 didn't oil a 25" bar very well. I replaced the stock oil pump with a holzforma import. That cheap arse pump works like the original should have!! Regardless, I'll order the Stihl HO parts and rebuild the original. It's a shame Stihl doesn't put the HO pump on the mighty MS400.
HAY ROD, COOL D.I.Y. VIDEO... I JUST REPLACED THE CHAIN ON ONE OF MY SAWS TODAY' THE FOLKS DOIN' THE CABINS USE THE F*** OUT OF IT. THE BLADES WERE SO WORN, THAT THEY WERE ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. DID YOU GET THE PICTURES??? IF NOT, I'LL SEND THEM AGAIN. OR BETTER YET, I'LL TAKE SOME NEW ONES... STAY COOL BROTHER... PEACE...
Well explained n executed, but just use the pliers to push in the last C clip ! Gentle is the norm😊
Great video Rod!

Cool video !

Thanks! Ya, If anyone is interested. 🤣 Appreciate ya watching Todd!👍🏻
My 462 usually has bar oil left too after the gas runs out. Not trying too save money on bar oil 😂, I love it! Take Care Rodd!
Should have a little left. I would have 1/4 tank left. That’s a bit much. Appreciate ya watching Don!👍🏻
My 400 has about 1/2 tank of oil left with the factory oiler turned all the way up. Mostly cut dead hardwood and it can't even oil a 20 :(
Great job Rod! Very detailed work, definitely should pump more oil!!👍🇺🇸👍
Yep, sure should. We’ll find out here in a couple days. Appreciate ya watching Jeremiah!👍🏻
Great info
Thanks Dave! Appreciate ya watching!👍🏻

Hey, thanks a lot. Can you measure length and diameters of the pump shaft? Checking whether the shaft would fit my 261 as well
I believe a 362 is the smallest saw it will fit. Appreciate ya watching!👍🏻
@@FirewoodMidwest thanks!

Thanks Travis! Appreciate ya watching!👍🏻
Are you make a video you fire up your outdoor wood stove buddy 🔥
When are you going to fire up your outdoor wood stove when are you going to make a video for that buddy
I ad a dash of diesel to the bar oil
What size nail did you use, I'm struggling to get the pin out.
Not sure of the size. It was just a small trim nail I had on hand.
So a ms461 stock oiler is a ho oiler for this saw or are there two different oilers?
Yes, stock 461 oiler is a HO.Appreciate ya watching Erik!👍🏻
Thank you much appreciated
So did it make a difference?
Most definitely! Appreciate ya watching!👍🏻
