The G660 is notorious for not supplying enough oil even when they are working, especially for any bar longer than 20". They have yet to correct this even on the new upgraded PRO that I bought. The remedy is to buy and install their high output oil pump for $21. It has a 1.4mm throw compared to .09mm of the factory installed pump. It was the same problem with the Stihl MS660. Stihl's high output pump throw is 1.3mm and costs around $124. Other than that I swapped out the stock muffler for a Hyway dual port and the air cleaner to the paper/foam. Now it breathes and oils my 36" bar for milling.
I took your advise and installed a high output oiler on my G660 before I ever started it up. I use it on a mill with a 36" bar and the extra oil is not a luxury, it is a necessity. I went with a dual port muffler and I put foam around the airfilter for easy cleaning. THANKS
Same issue. Have not broke it down yet. New saw. But looking for a vid on the oiler mod I've heard of. Figure I'll do it all at once.... Glad yours worked out.
I modified the control bolt inside the oiler for more oil. Pumps like a 460r now but i think it pushing more than 24cc of oil now. 660s are stock at 18cc nowhere near enough oil in my opinion
I would like to see the modification of the control bolt. I’m on my 3rd oil pump on my660 kit second pump is functional but no where near as much as my old 036. Just got another pump from Amazon not a farmer tech brand had a couple good reviews so I’m trying it out. Worst case Sanrio I’ll keep sending them back until I get a keeper. The saw kit is a Neo-Tech engine cases were fully assembled was $259. Anyway it runs great a few pulls and it ran and idled almost perfectly. Makes me want more sizes of different kit saws to play with.
try depressing the oil tank vent,w paper clip, it has a spring inside,it allows air in thus allowing the tank to flow oil,,I ended up drilling a small hole in the oil fill cap,and not filling it up all the way, this improved my bar now slings oil like my other saws always did, I put a screw in the oil cap to keep it from leaking out,and usually drain the oil tank for storeage,....think about a straw in a glass if soda, put your thumb over the straw lift the straw, out ...and take your thumb off ...soda flows, ..now you got it, my 034 super is finally slinging oil, after many disassembly, and oil pumps, and hose,...it was the stupid tank vent.
@@jason3211 I found a good one Amazon after reading a bunch of reviews. I found one that everyone seemed to like. It’s been so long now I can’t find it in my purchase history.
HI. Nice vid, thanks for posting. Why did you put the rope in the engine...to keep the piston from moving while taking off the clutch, maybe? Novice here...
Stephen Patterson Yes that would but for something like a Husky that need a tool to get a wrench on it still won’t. You need the rope as a piston stop and then a punch and hammer to get the clutch to pop loose and unscrew it off the crank.
Check for oil flow when chain brake lever is off (disengaged.) My G660 only oils in that position as when the chain would be spinning. Anyone else notice that? Thanks!

It serves as a piston stop.
Impact gun works great just leave spark plug in for a little resistance

Thanks for letting us know you don't know. "There you have it".
Same issue with the NS892. Blew out the oil passages and it works. Couldn’t identify a specific problem.
