@@yeahhahaitsjustnotme1412 he (transgender) was born when china had a 1 child per couple policy (1980-2015) and girls were seen inferior (less chance to get a really good job and less money to give back to family) and that led to a lot of baby girls being put up for adoption or being sold, so me understanding that and totally believing he was a biological boy really didn't made sense. But learning he's transgender explained everything.

(also for alot pf trans people saying you 'couldnt tell' isnt rly a compliment or a nice thing to say, it just feels a lil bit weird so its best to avoid!)
@hazyrory3121 I've known trans people and every one of them got great joy from "passing" as their preferred gender. If you or others find that offensive, that's your right. But you can't really generalize because everyone is different.
I'm not adopted but I relate heavily to Roman when he said being in family gatherings felt like he was partially "there" and "connected". I think it's because my parents divorced when I was really young and now they each have their own lives and spouses, and I have half siblings or stepsiblings. It's hard to feel like a full family member when you're there only half the time. It's this huge disconnect when I'm with either side; feels like I'm shoed in, ya know? Thank you Roman for sharing how you felt. Sending lots of love!
I relate to feeling like that too. My parents are still together, but my mom is Nigerian and my dad is Dutch. Even though my family on my dad's side has always been kind to me and my siblings, there is this weird disconnect between us and the rest of them. They also speak a language only spoken in certain areas of the country (one I can sorta understand but not speak it myselff). I have no contact with them now and I doubt that I'm going to reinitiate contact with them later in life. Weirdly enough I felt more at home with my family in Nigeria, although there was a language barrier and we were treated a bit different than the other kids. Being mixed, atleast in my experience, makes you always feel like you're not fully one or the other. Both cultures see you as different or not fully "them".
yes! i am not adopted either but having new younger half siblings and only getting to be around for them 50% of the time reallys fucks you up. i can't help resenting them a little bit for getting so much access to my mom (or just 2 parents in general) when i had to live with my shithead dad for long periods of time when they would go on trips or vacations without me. little me always felt like i was too expensive to keep around, or that I was loved until my stepdad had his own kids to love.
I felt this way after I got older and realized I was the black sheep of the family. Reason being was because my mother was abusive and we were poor, but I didn't know that as a kid or a teen, learned it later in adult years.
I always thought they tolerated me, but didn't really like or love me. (This turned out to not be the case as they supported me disowning and cutting my mother out of my life as my personal decision.)
No matter the situation, not being present for a lot of family events or get togethers definitely makes you feel like more of an outsider.

I would love to see this, but with siblings who were separated because of adoption. My mom had four children, but her youngest two were given up for adoption due to life circumstances. My little siblings is open, so we still communicate. We grew up with entirely different families and lifestyles but still look at one another as siblings. Think it would be cool to see that sibling dynamic on this shows

Breaks my heart when Roman commented on the disconnect at family gatherings. My family consists of so many “adopted” people, many siblings cousins, aunts and uncles who aren’t even related to each other but we will still comment on genetic likeness even there is no genetic link. For example: other family might say say “you and your cousin got the same eyes and y’all eyebrows from our grandma.” No one denies it, but technically no one is even blood related. We all need to do better at loving and connecting as humans.

Super interesting that stuff that Roman said about the mother's body relaxing more after adopting a child making her able to finally become pregnant. I think I've heard about that before, but from some non-sober bro at some event, so I wasn't entirely sure whether to believe in that theory. But the lady who takes care of my dog when I travel also conceived her kid totally out of the blue after many months (possibly years!) of trying. Maybe she too was somehow more relaxed when she starting boarding my pooch which suddenly made her loins blossom with fertilty. I definitely give my dog credit. She makes EVERYBODY feel at ease and at peace. I basically only wrote this rant to say that I love my dog SO MUCH. (Even though she snores and farts).

I loved this! These are some great people. It also got me thinking about how my husband and I would love to have another child but with the cost of childcare, etc., we aren’t sure. Adopting a teenager in need seems like a a very rewarding avenue for making that happen.
