Grandparents not being part of a family is a European concept which they brought over to America ( am guessing that's the reason why there is no mention of her). My grand mum took care of me and my brother when we were young. Our mum does it for my nephews / her grand kids..

At 17 she would not have been able to keep the kids together without grandma. No state run service would give a 17 year old custody of 5 kids.

words0217 They will in California, if there is one qualified adult (Family or friend) who agrees to pop in and check on them. This happened when my best friend and her husband passed away from cancer. Her son was 17yrs old, and her other son was 15yrs old. Guardianship was given to their aunt in Canada. I was shocked! 😳 So I personally checked in randomly 4-5 times a week consistently, and helped them manage their life, the house, school, shopping, cleaning, cooking etc. This young woman is outstanding. 👍😊♥️

This woman is amazing! What a touching story. But I think to be more successful than she already is, is almost impossible. She gave up everything and managed to raise her own siblings, what should never be a child’s job. Everyone is alive and healthy as it seems. So she has done a great job. How could you possibly be more successful?

It shows vulnerability and the emotional intelligence required to be a successful human being. There's no right or wrong - you can be strong crying publicly or not - but let's not continue the old, tired, and flat-out incorrect narrative that holding emotions in is a good thing.

This is not uncommon in Hispanic families. I have a friend that did this. A lot of responsibility is put on the oldest child, especially if she is a daughter. She had been helping raise the younger ones since they were born. My daughter-in-law is Hispanic & she is having my 1st granddaughter in Nov. 2021. She is an incredibly hardworking, strong woman. She learned it from her parents. They work 363 days a year in their deli. Even @ my son & his wife's wedding the deli was open. Her father came to celebration while her brother was working, then they switched out! Incredibly beautiful people!

I lost my father at 24 and my mom at 25. I’m the oldest of three siblings and one was in high school at the time. Stories like this really make life worth living. Seeing this big sister step up really gives me the extra boost of strength I need. Luckily for me my sister was in college and my brother a junior in hs, so they are able to do a lot of things for themselves. But things can still seem so hard for me even with their help. I have days where I feel like a failure because before my parents died I didn’t finish college and only have a hs diploma. But fortunately my father had insurance and we were able to purchase a home. All I have to do is pay bills and teach my siblings to drive and the small things. Seeing this makes me so grateful. 😢 I feel bad sometimes because I miss my mom and dad so much. And didn’t get a chance to make them proud while they were here. But I have faith that if they could see me now they would be so proud. This video is so beautiful to me I could hardly breathe watching..fighting back tears. This post goes out to all the children who lost there parents no matter what age. Be encouraged. God bless

I've heard it said many times, the very last resort is getting the gov't involved in your family. They would not seek to keep these siblings unified, rather more than likely put them each in foster care, in separate homes. That's exactly what these kids DO NOT NEED!!! Staying together is THE ONLY WAY!!!

When she was 16 she overheard me talking to her dad about how i want to get a will written up so if something happened to me and him we could decide who we wanted to raise the kids and she immediately came in and said she overheard and if something happened to us she would really like us to consider giving them to her to raise and keep together. I was very very touched but wasnt a huge shock she has been my left hand since the moment my oldest was born she has done bottles and diapers and now at 20 takes them atleast once every couple of months for a full weekend. AnneMarie Wood-O'Rourke When guests receive things on Ellen, it’s not coming out of Ellen’s bank account. Major companies donate their money, products, etc because they know when their company is showcased on Ellen, their business skyrockets. Nothing is coming out of Ellen’s personal bank account. None of these talk show hosts who give away money etc is giving it from their personal accounts. And no one should make them feel obligated to do so. With that said, who’s to say Whoopi or one of the other hosts didn’t make a personal donation to them? That can be done privately.

@@ashleymesiti9707 I agree with you except I truly doubt anyone from the view gave her anything from their own pockets. It only increased their ratings and by us watching this video, just givesvthevshow more money by the amounts of hits this video gets.

They are beautiful children. But that is superficial. Their beauty runs deep. There's a story about 3 girls by the river washing clothes. While two compared hands and which were prettier the one sister continued to wash clothes. The 2 stopped a passerby to ask her who's hands were prettier. The passerby was a beautiful woman in horse and carriage. She observed both hands. Then asked to see the 3rd girl's hands. The 2 chuckled because they knew her hands were beaten and worn. After scrutinizing the 3rd, she decided her hands were the most beautiful. The burns were from cooking meals to feed her family, pricks from all the diaper changes to the younger, scrapes from the wood to keep the home warm, calluses from beating clothes against the rocks, etc. She took her ring off and placed it on the girl's finger and complimented her beauty that ran deeper than the suffice. "You are the fairest of them all." And she continued on her way leaving the two boastful superficial sisters stunned. Paraphrasing.

My older sister (21) she takes care of me (I’m 17) because our mom and dad aren’t in our lives. I lost my mom by crystal meth causing her to lose her mind and my dad doesn’t wanna be in our lives because he has his own family. My sister works all the time and Trys to keep the roof over our heads and keep our tummy’s full❤️and I try to stay focused in school, but it’s really hard because I have depression and what I’ve seen in the past when I lived with my mom. (Which a child was not supposed to ever see) I’m fighting my depression and hoping to work so I can help out my sister while I’m getting my grade 11 done ✅ we may always brake down for our parents but when there’s the lord watching us, anything’s possible🙏

Yes, the LORD has sent HIS mighty holy angels to watch over you. Pray together, and love each other with HIS love and HE will bless you over and over again and again. So many blessings you won't be able to keep up. Talk to HIM about your depression too, HE is a HEALER and a DELIVERER of ALL illnesses, but we have to have faith in HIM, with no doubt, and HE will do it! I am a living witness because I was depressed at 16 and tried to end my life, but HE saved me, and I have been FREE from depression ever since. Blessings of peace and love from the LORD above! I am praying for you and your family! Amen.

Shakira Oar when I was dealing with anxiety issues a book really changed my life, you don't need to buy it since there are audio books free on the internet. The book is called the "The power of now" of Eckart Tolle, I am not saying that it can be a substitute from depression therapy but it will give you strength and help you to put things in perspective. Trust God and life and this will help you to overcome this difficult period of your life.
