  • I’m this video, I use 1 quart of Lucas Oil stabilizer during the oil change to reduce the engine ticks and knocks from this high mileage motor with 190,000 miles. No leaks, just a loud lifter tick and heavy engine knock. The Lucas really made a difference and the car is running a lot smoother with better oil pressure. Don’t be afraid to give it a try, it really works!

I use the synthetic version on my Mini Cooper S, notorious for engine problems, now on 221 thousand miles, no problems with it, added bonus, stopped the oil burning they are notorious for, I'd recommend it

be careful with this thing it modifies the oil converting it form its original grade to a higher one if you put it to a 5w30 it converts it to a 10w50

I use the stuff on all my vehicles. I use the 5w20 it calls for but its very thin so after 100k miles or so some guys say go with a thicker oil but if you do 1 qt of lucas with the regular oil it will thicken the oil for the current interval.

the problem with lifter ticks is its probably a partially clogged lifter port and thick additive may not be the right direction I've seen videos where they add a bottle of transmission fluid because its high detergent to clean ports. they leave it in til next oil change!

Adding a oil stabilizer reduces your additive package in your oil, the reason for the engine knock is because of a stablizer.

Your hurting the engine at start up with that thick of oil
the first number represents the thickness while cold
running a 50W in the winter months is NOT a good idea
The oil will not be able to make it's way through all the smaller oil ports in the engine as well
