    Thank you Rachel, especially the tip for getting the zip aligned with the waistband on both sides. Brilliant tutorial. I use a concealed zipper foot but you are right, you don’t need one. I do think a concealed zip is far easier than a regular zip and folk should not be afraid!

    Thank you so much - have always struggled with invisible zips, so much so I avoided doing them but today I have successfully put in a 22" zip in a toile for my Mother-of -the-Bride outfit for which I've bought the most beautiful gold and purple brocade. Now I won't be worried about ruining it and running out of fabric! So well explained and easy to follow

    • @loramcclamrock5549
      @loramcclamrock5549 Місяць тому

      sew a line of stitching along the top of the sleeve for easing.
      sew the sleeve to the bodice front and back.
      press open your seam.
      THEN stitch the sides of the bodice together.
      Much easier to match the sleeve to the bodice.
      Just take care to match the ends of the seam between the bodice and the sleeve.
      So much faster and a better result.

    You made that look very straightforward - just the second pinning looks a bit tricky as you need to get your head round turning it twice. I think I might do a practice in order to cement the method but you gave a very comprehensive explanation. Brilliant!

    • @StitchedUp
      @StitchedUp  Рік тому

      Yes just practice and remember that’s why you keep both pieces separate unsewn until the zipper is in so if it gets twisted you can flip your fabric piece out to untwist (can’t do that if it’s fully attached to the other side) just remember the coils face inward and you can’t go wrong

    Rachel, that was truly brilliant! Ten days ago I struggled with inserting an invisible zipper in a dress I made to wear to a wedding.
    I thoroughly enjoyed the construction process until I got to that zipper. Decided that was my last ever zipper. Let’s just say it turned out okay, but just partially invisible. After your tutorial I am now going to create an example to have for future reference.
    Thank you so so much for this series. Have a cup of coffee on me!💗
