To get a good pivot make sure the needle has gone down into the fabric and is on the way back up before you pivot. This way the stitch is fully formed underneath so you don’t get a crooked pivot.
Fantastic video! Never saw the explanation to independently sew the two sides the neckline. These little tutorials are very helpful, your camera work is spot on.
Really enjoyed this thank you. Could you do a one on interfacing, particularly on collars - whenever I do one, I invariably end up with one collar piece longer than the other and I’d be really interested in seeing how you do your collar interfacing. Many thanks, Marie ❤
Thanks so much for these tutorials Rachel, really informative and helpful. Like someone has already said, good to save on a playlist for future reference. 😊
I have made my own stabilising tape by cutting woven interfacing on the bias (and joining it into one long length like bias tape), and then doing a row of stitching down the middle.
Great tutorial! Maybe you could make one for button holes? My Pfaff passport machine does have a button hole function and a special foot, but it only works well if the fabric is very thin. Would love a video that sjows making button holes with just a zig zag stitch :)
Thank you….I made this top but instead of normal facing I did bias binding….it’s not the best job but I can wear it around the house……now I know how to do it properly. X
Thank you so much for your tutorials, Rachel. They are very clear to see and understand and I am also saving these for future reference. Are you able to say where we can get the stay tape from that you are using? Many thanks once again. ❤
Thanks for the tutorial. I've recently sewn my first v neckline and had no end of trouble because the front bodice came in two halves and has shaping under the bust, so it created three points of fabric to attach to each other at the centre front if that makes sense. Anyway, I don't think I'll be attempting that pattern again as I'm not too happy with the finish.
Ah apologies that’s because I had to reupload and I’ve forgotten to add it again to the description I’ll amend it today but a similar one to what I use is here www.minerva.com/mp/1119390/vilene-vlieseline-bias-stay-tape

Appreciate this - did you say what the pattern is that you are wearing? It is very pretty.
