Do you have an annoying high pitched squealing or whining noise while running the AC or heat in your car or truck, especially at low to medium speeds? Sometimes its because of debris in your blower motor, but other times it could be the blower motor or cage itself! In this video, Andy shows you the difference between an old blower motor with a worn bearing, and a brand new blower motor, to see how and old one can make that awful noise.

Pop the end cap off the motor spindle, put about a dozen drops of penetrating oil on the spindle while spinning the squirrel cage fan. Follow up with a few drops of three in one oil. No more squeak. Usually lasts about two to three years.
OMG OMG OMG I took my car to a dealer 4 times for this and they kept telling me there was nothing wrong, or I should say "they couldn't replicate the noise", until my warranty expired. Kept trying to get me to pay them $75 dollars to get the filter changed (which I didn't pay). I'm livid, but at least I know I can fix it. Thank you so much! I'm subscribing!
Great video... just diagnosed my issue $43 and an hour of my time.. keep them coming. Peace and blessings to you..
That was the limited edition blow motor that prevents you from dozing off while driving. 🤣😂👍
Recently bought one for HHR from 1Aauto. One of those you have to cut out. Works good.
Finally a video where the symptoms are the same as mine I was hinting towards my blower motor but I wanted confirmation
Yup! That "cricket" sound! Just like mine sounds like! Perfect...you helped a lot! Many thanks!
Thanks so very helpful 😊
Maybe somtime you can repair a broken piece instead of chainging it. (Sometimes a drop of oil helps a lot)
Great video
I tried taking it apart, lubing everywhere it moves, and still can't het rid of the sound. Finally just bought a new one
This could also be because the blower motor is looser than it should be. This happened to me after replacing the blower motor with a brand new one. It turns out I didn't tighten the screws enough, which left a small gap, and that allowed air to come in from the passenger compartment, creating a whistling noise. Once I tightened the screws some more, the noise went away.
Thanks dude
wow got the same car and got this problem and first video i come across lol. NICE
Yup. After its useful service life its best to replace worn parts. New bushings and new life..
Mines when I turn it on sometimes but as long as I turn it couple times it does stop 🛑 leave the setting as it is. But if I turn it off and reset it . Mines does go away after and yes the pitch does get higher or lower as I blow air
Thx now I know my problem I have 1996 s10 it’s only $35-40 my mechanic will put it in for me I’m just curious is this a hard job or something simple
Mine sounds like when you put a baseball card on your bicycle spoke
On god my truck does this 🥲 I just payed to get the condenser coil replaced I’m hoping I can do this myself!
i noticed the car is a newer model subaru which i have and i tried to look for the part on 1aauto but couldnt find the part
If the blower motor is bad can it cause the vehicle to stall or shut down? When I turn the A/C on there’s a loud screeching noise under the hood and it causes the car to just stall and die out, then I’d have to restart the engine. I have a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer
My 2015 chevy sonic blower motor has been squeaking like thiis for months and im waiting for it to get bad enough for when i take it in to get replaced under warranty they cant say its something else...which they have done to me before...and if i take it in and they try that anyway ill use this video as some help if nothing else works.
I just took my 2022 RAV4 into the dealership because mine was making a squealing noise ONLY when the fan is on high and the heat is engaged to full. It was doing it since I bought it and it was getting annoying. They heard it, replaced the blower motor and it STILL does it the exact same. The head technician said this was normal design. It's the air moving through the vents and heater core. I called bullshit. Why did they replace the blower motor if it was a normal part of the design?
no way to oil it or anything??? I have a 2017 Corolla with a loud blower, it became loud about a year into my new car. I hate to replace it already, but it's driving me crazy.
But mine is New blower motor and it squeek a lot noisy slower or faster ?
same problem in my car anyone knows how to fix it without replacing the motor
Happen to me today notice Subaru as well omg!
Any chance you give a little more detail on where that is located? Looked like passenger floor but I'm just guessing. I've got the 13 rogue special edition. It's getting pretty cold here in NH. I've started cranking the radio to mask the noise
+jared vahl This is typically located behind the dash and behind the hvac box.
I replaced my blower motor which had a low grumbling sound, that is fixed now. But, I still have the high pitch sound, but its only when the fan is on high and the air is coming out of the floor vents. If I set the air to come out of the defrost or high vents there is no high pitch sound. Any thoughts? Leaves in the lower vents maybe? Thanks
Tighten the screws on the blower motor some more. Same thing happened to me after I replaced mine and it turns out that there was a small gap that allowed air from the passenger compartment to get sucked into the blower. The air traveling through the gap created a whistling noise and once I tightened the screws some more, it went away.
Ok, but what do you recommend that we use as a replacement? OEM or aftermarket? Jim
PS....I really might need one for a Jeep Wrangler 2015.
I have same problem as you mentioned in your video.
I have nissan sentra 2010, can you make video how to change blower motor at home?
Sounds like my 2022 chevy 1500 just that the noise is not as loud
damn thats brand new subaru
Hi, my Nissan Frontier not blowing hot air in idle, but when I started driving the heater started to work.
+eduardo mendoza We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I would check the tire pressure just to be sure😁
99 civic - oe blower motor - still running... says a lot
+Darin P Thanks for the feedback!
Just replaced mine like 5 months ago now doing this, parts such junk now and days
0:30 what if not?
This happens on my 2020 kona… had it replaced last year. And its happening again now🥲
What does it mean when front vents won't run even on high?
+-KANDY- DA FAWKIN MAN!!! We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Check your blower motor resistor - controls the speeds of the blowing
I honestly thought it was a tracker lol
If the motor is making these noises does it means it’s going bad and eventually going to stop? I know it’s sounds silly but I want to make certain.
+Sabrina F Thanks for watching! Yes if your fan is making these sorts of noises then it is failing.
Why not trying to record the sound of it before replacing it.
+Sal Escobar Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
What happens if you don’t fix it can it break something
Motor slows down causing amp draw to go up resulting in burnt connections and wiring..
If your car making noises throw it to garbage and buy new one. Thats what i understand from the video
CHOP
No need to do all that just replace the bearing or the fan it it's cheaper same idiots that buys wipers that doesn't need to change it all u need to change is the blades not the wipers which cost 5 bucks for a pack of 8
It is a stupid American way to replace everything, instead of repairing things. Try to open it and spray WD-40 instead, to begin with.
