Jordan Peterson’s talks have saved me from committing suicide. He taught me in 5 mins on UA-cam what my parents and society failed to in my entire life. I am heartbroken to discover that he, who had just become my “meta” father, was almost lost to the world. But hey, if there’s anyone who will get on top of this string of tragedies and transformed - it is Dr.Peterson!

@@robh972 Thank you. I think it was the first video from the Character Transformation series. I decided to watch it after stumbling upon a disparaging "viral" video of some left-leaning activists verbally attacking Dr. Peterson. I clicked on it because their ideology sounded like the one I was raised by in Russia, and wanted to confirm my bias. Instead, I realized that it was the same very ideology that pushed me to almost kill myself. I am grateful to J.Peterson for deconstructing it using the language of science and reason that I could understand despite being from the Soviet Union.

I would love to see a tighter dialogue with him and people like Vervaeke, and on the political front I'd like to see some reconciliation between classic liberalism and conservatism, at a deeper level. @Psychonaut Changing just one person's life for the better is a miracle and Jordan has done that for millions of men and women. He gave voice and structure to the arguments we struggled to form against the gaslighting redefinition of reality by the the subversive Marxists. Our hearts understood instinctively they were not only wrong, but evil. Our minds could drink from the well of understanding he led us to in his humble, gentle manner.
And we all said yes, yes, that's it exactly. The peace of mind and clarity of purpose he offers us all is a gift beyond measure. He is a man sent by God at such a time as this. World changing indeed.

zippo999 there is also a notable difference between addiction and dependency. People go through rough times, and sometimes maybe they’ll try anything just to feel better, and if you notice it helping it might be hard to want to stop whatever it is that you feel is helping (until it’s too late in this case).

It bothers me how much I care about this man. It brought me to tears seeing him start to cry when he thanked his daughter for her help at the end there.
Benzos are awful. I was addicted to them as a young man. I committed several car burglaries in a black out state twenty years ago. I sold my car to pay a lawyer. I wound up in drug court which was so time consumingi couldn’t go to college on top of my full time job. I wound up in prison several years later for “non compliance” on probation for the same crime. I was arrested in 1998. I didn’t get off of parole til 2010. This was of course my fault. Don’t do benzodiazepines for fun. Don’t do benzodiazepines for medical reasons.

That’s look on Dr. Peterson’s face as he gives the most sincere thanks to his daughter for all that she had done for him, tells the whole story here, and just shows how authentic and down to earth he really is. Killed me to watch that. That face was one of a kind soul who has honestly undeservedly dealt with too much. There is nothing fake about this man. His bravery in every situation presented to him is astounding. Horrible to think he’s worried about the negative view others might take on him for this, as if he doesn’t have enough on his plate already. No doubt there will be those people, but there will always be.

Sarah Penna cult? lol. his lectures are awesome. he distills the best of the best, the masters of philosophical thought, and adds his own personal conjecture and connections he gathered through practical experience. These videos are academic in nature, and are fundamentally not HIS personal ideals, but a thoughtful collage of ideals that are undeniably of the best philosophical minds to have ever lived. A cult leader would persuade you to think in only the way of the cult. He prescribes the absolute opposite: personal belief in yourself, your ideals, and how they will form your unique life path. From all that, you gathered “cult leader”. Dumb. That’s like me calling you and the two poor souls that liked your comment a cult. In reality, your a pathetic cluster of impotence.

I spent a fruitless three months in a psychiatric hospital in my late adolescence, and was prescribed a range of benzodiazepines to curb my "restlessness". I stopped taking them as soon as I was discharged, and suddenly faced the most traumatic and paralysing anxiety and disorientating despair. It never occurred to me that it was drug withdrawal; no-one had ever mentioned the possibility of such a thing, so I thought I was lapsing into full-blown insanity. I consider it a miracle that I didn't kill myself. Knowing now that I was prescribed these horrendous drugs just for the sake of keeping me quiet for the staff on the ward is particularly galling.
