Funnily enough, Doctors and drug companies are legally forced to let you know side effects and what may occur.
I say funnily enough, because it’s a legal compelled speech.
      Why is it funny?
Because with bill C-16 that Peterson fought against, he claimed all compelled speech would destroy society.
And yet, had he listened to the compelled speech...
I mean, he wrote papers on why not to use it, but then stayed on them for several years.
I’d say he pretty well knew what could happen but didn’t care about the responsibility of his future self.
You say we need empathy, but what’s also funny is JP has many podcasts and lectures about how empathy is a waste of time and how the Marxists will control you.

@nabeel ebrahim You're a very silly person, this made me smile and for that I thank you!
"Making up his own definition of truth" - this applies to everyone on earth. Is that not exactly what every belief system does? How can we begin to understand the universe if we cannot even define what we see from our point of view.
Further more, every good argument against religion should (and more often than not is) based on academics and logic, because these are the best tools we have available to us. You're criticising his arguments by saying that his "attempt", as you call it, to prove his religious theories through academic legitimacy (which is by the way the only logical way to argue) is somehow incorrect, or at least incoherent, I find it all very silly.
Also, I see you use the term Cognitive Dissonance. I've been watching Dr. Peterson for some time now and his views are very consistent throughout his lectures. In fact, I'd say he is the most consistent philosopher of our time. Therefore either your definition of cognitive dissonance is incorrect by conventional means, are you thought using the term would strengthen your initial argument.
One last thing, casually mentioning your master's degree doesn't make your argument seem more valid, it only makes you come across as pompous.

They appear to struggle with severe short term memory loss now a couple of years later, for example, every other object they pick up on a typical day around the house, they forget it’s in their hand then forget where said object is put down. The result is a domino effect of car keys, Food, cell phone etc Always being lost, therefore they are always disorganized and late to everything.. the person’s life appears to be a mess now and forever changed. Will this symptom ever go away? Thank you for sharing your story, I believe benzos are worse than heroin and I am sorry you had to suffer like this.

This was the day after the doctor told me there is no withdrawal from these drugs and I'm suffering anxiety from reading things on the internet.
I wish I could say that was the worst night but it wasn't . Then came the akathesia, the hallucinations, weeks of 0 sleep , panic attacks, and thoughts of suicide. I was in withdrawal for over a year and this is from 2.5 months of use.

sfappetrupavelandrei Exactly. While I’m on the left, one of the things in recent years that I think is terrible not only for the left itself but for democracy in general is intolerance and a general unwillingness to truly discuss ideas openly and honestly. I attended the Peterson-Zizek debate a couple of years ago and what I liked about it was that they didn’t set out simply to present their positions and stick to them. Even if they disagreed about certain points, what they were trying to do was understand the problems we all face today

This is not a normal reaction and is almost unheard of. Something is deeply awry. But it is not an oxy type addiction.
In addition, drugs are properly made for people who need them. As with anything that is otherwise good, problems can arise.

@Cool Story Bro Typical 😂 I don't need to be a fanboy to watch a 2 minute update video and have a bit of common sense. I barely watch Jordan Peterson so why would you assume I'm a fanboy? Assumptions lead to daft conclusions and you proved it there twice. You've finally found an opening to hate on someone or label them as something and you're fully capitalising on it, right? Twisting and misinterpreting someone's words to suit your own agenda. Typical of humans to find anything and everything to complain about. If you can't comprehend what his daughter said I don't know what to say to you.

I think part of the problem is that companies create new drugs like fentinal which is more dangerous and addictive and not create drugs that are needed like new antibiotics.

Love your comment big pharma should be telling the docs this too.
The docs are only trying to help. He had to of had depression or anxiety that needed treatment and can be life threatening. Many with severe depression and anxiety commit suicide. If he'd not been prescribed meds and he committed suicide everyone would blame the docs for not prescribing.
Many just don't realize they should be tapered off the meds so they don't get physically ill. Because some get physically sick with vomiting, diarrhea, they're sweating the drugs out and they get dangerously dehydrated. A medical detox is basically taking someone off the meds while they have IV fluids to make sure the person doesn't get dehydrated. The dehydration's more dangerous than the drugs. Same thing with opiates but the docs will take your meds and let you go cold turkey that's what kills. Lack of knowing how to properly & slowly stop the meds is a bigger problem than most realize. Big pharma should be telling the docs how to do that. It's not the docs fault they're only trying to help.

He has combined his education and experience in psychology and philosophy to try to help others cope with the stresses of modern life.
