I find touch screens a serious safety concern the way they are. Don't even want to imagine the frustration with these things if you're a right-handed person in the UK though. Peugeot does seem to have upped their game, but it still can't hold a candle to a classic iDrive system of yesteryear.
I think for this type of car, Safety is important. So if Matt could review the safety features when the car is clearly a daily driver or family car, that'd be really cool and useful.
Sorry, but you can't just brush over the fact that the steering wheel obscures the dash. I've just spent 4 months in a brand new 308, and i love so much about the car (& it's a really good-looking car too), but that wheel-screen design cock up means both me and my wife (who's also been driving it) can't wait to see the back of it. The stupid and loud road-runner 'NEEP, NEEP' noise when you lock the car is dreadful too. Shame, because it's 80% a great car. Oh, and the worst stop-start/auto gear box combo of any modern car!
Interesting that Matt was more positive on this car than its French rival, the Renault Scenic. French reviewers have favoured the Scenic - lighter, more practical, more dynamic. I do like the Peugeot’s interior.
@@BrateTebra123 It’s your opinion, fine. Most reviewers who actually driven it disagree. The Renault has the advantage of being on a lighter EV-only platform. Hence it’s better handling and, according to some, ride quality. Looks are subjective. I’d probably choose the Peugeot for its interior - plus I wouldn’t need greater room in the rear.
22:33 not if you accelerate… it lets you accelerate but it tells you on the screen that “it won’t brake”… but lift off and goes back. It’s the turning that does not let you interact a bit.
Yes a super futuristic looking machine like this that’s quite large isn’t going to be well suited to a 1.2 petrol even if it’s half a tonne lighter. Our e2008 feels plenty quick enough to 60 and is super smooth with instant grunt.

Still I am not interested in an ev at all, but nice to see a manufacturer who can actually design a half decent looking electric car.
Love the Peugeot brand and their cars until the 90s but they really lost it since. The latest designs have become so complicated and desperately looking for a strong identity. There must be 2000 lines and creases … Plus the engine ranges have become sooo boring
Easy to drive, smooth suspension, tight turning circle, super quiet, and just plain really comfortable like a classic Peugeot? You said "yes" to all those so sounds like a winner to me.
Hi Carwow, I was thinking of buying a BMW 2 Series Active tourer since it has gotten a revamp. Can you consider doing a video about the new BMW 2 series active tourer. If you could it would help me a lot. Thanks.
I test drove both the Peugeot and the Renault Scenic and I would go with the Scenic versus the Peugeot. Yes the Peugeot is nicer inside but the Scenic isn’t bad either and I like the Google based interface. Very intuitive, very fast. The Peugeot is not fun to drive: too heavy for the engine. It’s sluggish. Scenic is much zippier mostly because it’s 400 kilos lighter! Scenic is a bit noisier due to wind buffeting at higher speed, Peugeot is really quiet. I also like the automatic preconditioning of the batteries on the Scenic before charging while using the google based navigation system. Not the case in the Peugeot. Heat pump is optional on Peugeot, not Scenic! And then finally, the Scenic has a much longer range, close to 300 miles in real driving. Although I must say the Peugeot is very efficient. I got 17.6 kWh per 100 km during my test drive (rather aggressive) or in line with what Matt has. For me it seemed like a no brainer.
Mat, don't say that about my dad's 1st generation peugeot 3008😂 I believe the first generation is more practical and reliable than the other generations

Also the Peugeot badge is starting to look like the Proton badge.
I think you mean the other way round. The new badge references their 1960’s badge. Peugeot is the oldest car company in the world founded in 1803
I love it the design!! That interior OMG!
I find touch screens a serious safety concern the way they are. Don't even want to imagine the frustration with these things if you're a right-handed person in the UK though.
Peugeot does seem to have upped their game, but it still can't hold a candle to a classic iDrive system of yesteryear.
I think it'd be cool to wash the cars before reviewing them.
Nah mate that's what it's gonna look like most of the time innit
@@KlaximumSkroeftYeah, shit 😂
@@Dayswithryan aye
They did not wash it on purpose if you get it :)))
Almost forgot that we on UA-cam
I think for this type of car, Safety is important. So if Matt could review the safety features when the car is clearly a daily driver or family car, that'd be really cool and useful.
1.2L!? In this car!? That's some bad joke.
With a chain now instead of a dreadful belt in oil bath from Continental, isn’t it?
It’s electric
@@paulmcgee1867 He's talking about the petrol version.
No back wipers is absolutely crazy. Back glass gets extremely dirty… and you can’t really rely on the camera all the time. Nutz.
This definitely blew me away! Peugeot Is really upping their game! Great review Matt
😂😂
You can easily put into N mode when you want to coast, really easy.
It also uses regen when you have cruise control activated.
Brother urrrr 🤣
Perfectly used

Yes 😂😂😂 Mr hoblos
I was waiting for this E 3008 video here. THANKS
I've got big legs! I hate constantly bumping my knee in that kind of huge central console. Why do they do that?
1st time impressed by any french car good work Peogeot 🌟
Sorry, but you can't just brush over the fact that the steering wheel obscures the dash. I've just spent 4 months in a brand new 308, and i love so much about the car (& it's a really good-looking car too), but that wheel-screen design cock up means both me and my wife (who's also been driving it) can't wait to see the back of it. The stupid and loud road-runner 'NEEP, NEEP' noise when you lock the car is dreadful too. Shame, because it's 80% a great car. Oh, and the worst stop-start/auto gear box combo of any modern car!
The 3008 is like a pokemon, but an ugly one, then everyone is surprised when it evolves and its one of the most pretty
This thing is the spawn of evil, ugliest piece of crap ever!!
Lol
but it only evolves at lvl 50 and has shit stats, at least it looks alright

Interesting that Matt was more positive on this car than its French rival, the Renault Scenic. French reviewers have favoured the Scenic - lighter, more practical, more dynamic. I do like the Peugeot’s interior.
He is just being realistic. This is next level in comparison to Scenic
@@spsmith45 design wise Peugeot is much better, exterior and interior. The handling might be better in Renault I have not driven it to give opinion
Renault Nissan is a far better car and company.
22:33 not if you accelerate… it lets you accelerate but it tells you on the screen that “it won’t brake”… but lift off and goes back. It’s the turning that does not let you interact a bit.
As I am a big fan of french cars, this is just ugly. Especially the rear.
Ye, kinda looks like its been sliced with a knife, a bit like a cake.
" waiter can I have a bucket of attention pls"
8:04 and that’s the drawback of using an ICE platform for an BEV… much less room inside… shame
"sorry for reviewing the electric version" 😂 I am actually more interested in the electric version than the petrol one.
Yes a super futuristic looking machine like this that’s quite large isn’t going to be well suited to a 1.2 petrol even if it’s half a tonne lighter. Our e2008 feels plenty quick enough to 60 and is super smooth with instant grunt.
He's a motoring enthusiast... Most E cars that are not Tesla's are boring to drive, or marked up 300% by dealerships. I'm with you, but I understand his lack of enthusiasm.
Brother ewwww
8:54 Why does he always say the rear passenger floor is flat when it's not. If it has a hump of any size then it's not flat. Flat floors usually have one mat running across the whole length and if there's a hump two separate mats.
Remember folks , cars is moved by engines not by interior or exterior 😂😂.

I have to say new Peugeots looks absolutely incredible! 👌 Who says otherwise are just jealous that Peugeot is actually doing something really nice these days and are better looking than most Germans.Well done 👍
French to Americans: "Can't touch this"
It's because the yanks didn't buy French cars back when they were sold there, so they probably don't want to take the risk again. I heard that Alpine could sell its next high-end SUVs there in a few years though.
@@Oklm23 They actually did try again with failing AMC, but yeah, it's been a while
@@danam0228 It was Renault not Peugeot but yeah the AMC cars were crap, newer French cars are pretty good so maybe Stellantis should give it a try and sell them through their Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Alfa Romeo dealerships
@@Oklm23 I didn't say anything about Peugeout, only the French, but you got the idea. A good one, possibly trying again.
Why they persist with the shit steering wheel idea is beyond me. I could be interested in a petrol version, but no fcking WAY would I buy one with that cockpit design
Tend to agree. It's a very polarising design approach and for me, puts me off.
For once an ev that looks nice inside and actually has some physical buttons and a useful control panel. The overall design is not bad either.I think Tesla need to visit Peugeot and learn how to design a nice looking, functional car. Still I am not interested in an ev at all, but nice to see a manufacturer who can actually design a half decent looking electric car.
haha, first you should try before commenting, I would say why all these buttons…
Love the Peugeot brand and their cars until the 90s but they really lost it since. The latest designs have become so complicated and desperately looking for a strong identity. There must be 2000 lines and creases … Plus the engine ranges have become sooo boring
Depreciation will be a nightmare.
Easy to drive, smooth suspension, tight turning circle, super quiet, and just plain really comfortable like a classic Peugeot? You said "yes" to all those so sounds like a winner to me.
First time ive ever been on a carwow video in the first minute
Lol😂
Its a shocker but its electric so Carwow will have to say its good to fit the narrative
Mat, don't say that about my dad's 1st generation peugeot 3008😂 I believe the first generation is more practical and reliable than the other generations
the second generation is 100times more reliable
To be fair the first generation 2008 and 3008 and somewhat the 5008 was really ugly. 2nd generation was very good looking imo, all models.
@@Anashere_Narrnda My dad never had any issues with his 1st generation, he bought it in 2014 and never paid any hefty cash for the services, so what I can say is peugeot in general is good regardless of its good looks 👍
@@bastiaanzeeman3922 Yeah that's true, but in my father's eyes his 1st generation peugeot will always look beautiful😂 plus thieves would pass on that car here in my country 🇿🇦
And better looking!
Can I recommend looking at the carpet when looking for the overall quality of the car. Carpet is a big deal especially when it is time to vacuum it. If the carpet looks and feels like velcro then it is going to be a nightmare to vacuum. The dirt doesn't come out of it easily.
It's a BYD with Peugeot badge 🤠
Not at all 😂

another cool feature of the more premium seats. you can tighten the seat bolsters via the screen so people with many different bodytypes can really get the right positioning.
Mat's pure motor journalism!
Let me stop you right there. Is it a giant EV "SUV" with less than 300 miles of real-world range? That's all we need to know. There's nothing to see here.
I think this is the first time in recent years that I haven't liked a Peugeot car. The previous generation was perfect, that seems a bit excessive.
Funny thing is, they didnt mention the 3008 version before this one, which was clearly more appealing, lol.
Scénic EV = Consider and P3008 EV = Shortlist, is it a joke ???
Who wants a Renault ?
Wooow this car looks AMAZING!! The best looking compact SUV in its class 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
1.2 petrol 160 horse power? Are you sure Mat? Isnt it 136 HP hybrid?
was about to ask that. In Romania you can get the
1.2 136 hybrid (kind of mild hybrid)
1.6 195 PHEV
E - 154 kwh /210 bhp
Had a honda accord 1994 and sunroof didn't leak. Cruise control works.

Totally agree.
it's a review not an auction 🤪
Mat there is an option of “speed limiter (LIM)” in the steering wheel use it instead of using the cruise control to not exceeding the speed limit of the street
I wanna drive this car where should i get it 😢😮

@@92250paulo not a joke, exterior looks like a kid drawn it, wheels are awful, interior is good looking but very complicated to use and irritating to live with everyday.
Engine choice is horrible, for many electric is not suitable enough (not to mention price, depreciation and reliability), 1.2 petrol is really unreliable (wet belt is just one of it's problems) and not that efficient. No diesel which most of the buyers would want.

I tried to find the petrol version of this but it's not yet available in the UK. They are pushing the EV and announcing the hybrid but nothing yet about the petrol. Both the EV and hybrid will depreciate faster than the petrol but they need to sell the electric versions to avoid government fines.

The sudden brake situation was actually an issue with the previous 3008. It would sometimes apply the brakes too hard even during a soft pedal press. Disappointing to see that Peugeot never fixed the problem.

No rear wiper & high price = a no from me. Maybe worth waiting 1 or 2 years & picking up a used model for half that price but the lack of a rear wiper would still be a barrier for me.
