If you are buying a Peugeot then the 1.2Puretech engine would be your last choice. (and that comes from a Peugeot mechanic). The 2.0L diesel engine is miles ahead of any other Peugeot engine. Proven over a 20 year period - plenty of power - and lasts forever. My understanding is that they are re-introducing the diesel engines for the 2025 model. Great move.
Probably the ONLY genuinely honest review of this car. All other reviewers blow smoke up its arse and it’s simply not that good and the EV is massively overpriced.
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff not in most EU countries it is not.. Tiguan is at least 2-3k euros more expensive than the Allure 3008 and on top of that when comparing standard equipment it seems 3008 has more to offer.. To get the Tiguan you should you need 43k euros. That's at least 2-3k euros more expensive than GT 3008 which has virtually everything (except the sunroof and 360 cam) and 2-3k less expensive than 3008 PHEV.. Don't get me wrong Tiguan is a great alternative but if you want to add equipment then you need to pay substantially more.
I'm thinking you might be the best, most entertaining and HONEST (shouting) car reviewer out there....the new 408 seems a much better option....though the wet belt issues on the 1.2 give me sleepless nights....if only Peugeot did a 7 year warranty....thanks anyway
Stellantis would go bust if they offered a 7 year warranty on all their cars. Probably BMW, VW & Audi too!! Warranty length in the motor industry is inverse to reliability
I understand that the latest 1.2's have a timing chain rather than a wet belt. Not that a chain guarantees reliability, there a plenty of European car brands that have unreliable timing chains unfortunately.
Being in my late 70's when £5 would get you a good night out in the West End in my youth, I find the price of modern cars are hilarious, no wonder they are pooping themselves with the thought of Chinese cheapos ! As to the jacket Tim, not your best look - "Le jacket non ici" perhaps :)
Not sure what the trend is with all these supposedly family friendly SUVs all looking super aggressive, angular and yet somehow completely bland and indistinguishable at the same time. What happened to curves and swoopy lines and cars with 'friendly' faces...
I guess the reality is the real-world price of the EV version won’t be that far of the Hybrid version, given the enormous discounts available on all Stellantis EV’s. Probably the same price a year old.
I've really liked all of Peugeots designs since the last 308 came out, 508 especially. This however, is just plain ugly. Front end has gone very Citroen with the disjointed design. A decent facelift would sort it. Interior is 11 out of 10 though. From the rear its very similar on the road to the new electric Lexus.
But...But...Just think every time you plug the E3008 into a Coal or Gas powered Elec station how much money you saving!!! I bet the 11 Grand will be saved in no time
Even when it's called the same, this is a brand new motor with a timing chain instead of a timing belt, new transmission and an electric motor connected with the transmission
Small engines are a joke. They are fine if you don't ever need to get out of town.... Especially those newer ones with turbo. Just give me 1.6 or 1.8 naturally aspirated and leave me be.
I had a MK7 Astra with a 1.2 turbo petrol with 145bhp and over the four years I had it did 40,680 miles at point of trade in. About two thirds of that was regular road trips between London to Aberdeen and back which it did with no problems whatsoever and in fact was a terrific motorway car, and often the fastest car on the road bar those driving on suicide missions. It replaced a 1.6T Astra which had 200bhp and I honestly thought I’d hate the 1.2 engine but I really didn’t, I loved it more than the Focus ST I had a for a few years.
Steering wheel is excellent. I'm amazed at the number of drivers (especially in the UK) who can't adapt to change. I went from a big wheel 308 to a small wheel - i-cockpit 3008. Took me 30sec to adapt.
EVs are pure misery without access to home charging (nearly half UK homes). So how they plan to force the slop on everyone is beyond me. Hybrids need to be made a permanent alternative

Such a stunning car! Bravo Peugeot 🦁
Any stats on how well 1.2 engines are? They've been around for over 10 years now - be interested in knowing how many are still working?
There have been issues with the rubber timing chain. The latest version has changed this.
Pretty bad!!

What worries me why when driving the drivers seat seems to be loose and moving about ?????
My 2021 Corolla doesn’t do that
Turbo lag, no rear wiper, and 0-60 takes over 10 seconds. Think I'll give it a miss.
I am enjoying the way the door fabrics swoop uninterrupted, onto the dash 🤓

Thanks for the review. I wish you test drove a DS product in the future. I’d be really interested in your verdict, especially on the DS 4 Crossback
Is it better than the 2008
Nice to compare the 3008 to the Tiguan but it would be nicer to also mention the prices of the Tiguan!!! Honesty is the word indeed!
Tiguan is £36k for the normal Life model. How is that being dishonest?!

I like it. All new cars are too expensive, but new EVs are just mad, particularly as their used values drop like a stone.

Would probably ride smoother and give slightly better mpg without those huge and no doubt very heavy wheels - style over function yet again.

Peugeot designer has gone to Renault , hence why these new ones looks so bad and the Renault are nicer now
Good car. Pity it is more polluting than the EV.
I stopped watching at firm ride. Not sure why car companies think we need it.
They want SUVs to go around corners without body roll… which usually knackers the ride
From the very first few minutes when he was driving, I can already see how stiff the ride is. SUV with a stiff ride is so stupid.

Omodo 5 is better and great value
Great value but a pretty terrible car in my opinion. Drove one earlier this year and it wasn’t very impressive
It had a build issue with the rear axle in my country. The Weld joints broke while driving. Recall for over 400 plus cars from the same build period.
