Yes - I live in Australia and wanted a 3008 last year - I went and bought a demo model 2022 3008GT HDi (2.0L diesel). This was the last year of Peugeot diesels. Potential issue: the 1.2 Puretech has a wet timing belt, though the oil pump is thankfully chain-driven. So at least it's not like the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost, which has two wet belts and unreliable tensioners. Edit: Puretech engines combined with mild hybrids (like the new 3008) have timing chains, as stated in the reply. I stand corrected.
What is the difference in terms of reliability? Still French engines. I know tons of people with brand new (3-7 year old) Peugeots or Citroens with totalled engines, because of problematic timing chains 😢

thank you very much for the excellent Review. Hats-off for the exhaustive and informative Test and for also pointing out the Negatives including the hard passenger Seat.
I really like what they have done with Peugeot ! Of course, you have to like it but in nowadays with too much new brands with no soul, it’s cool to see some brands keeping build some unique cars for family use models. The puretech 136 is apparently built to last way better than the previous one… we’ll see in the future
Very controversial interior, high instrument cluster almost impairing visibility, steering wheel too imho design should not affect such things but well I guess there are people who will like it.
You can literally buy a nice 3008 + a 208 GT for the price of a well equipped Tiguan 😂. Very nice review with the comparisons between allure and gt, thanks Thomas!
I don't understand that pricing. For comparison: The Citroen C4 Plus with the same engine starts at 10000 Euro less in Germany... And the passenger seat is comfortable, too... Citroen and Peugeot belong to Stellantis...
The Citroën C4 is a significantly smaller car (especially in terms of interior space) and belongs to a different segment (it shares the EMP1 platform with, for example, the Peugeot 2008). Another point is that the C4 was also planned under a different regime and any future C4 models from Citroën will be simpler and built to a lower price. As today's C4 is priced, it is a bargain.
@@binflydushy Peugeot sources it's telematics from Magneti Marelli, that doesn't sound like a cheap source and possibly the same company BMW sources from.
I hope that in South America they put real engines like the classic THP or even being from the Stellantis group they put the 1.3 trurbo of 175hp or even the 2.0 turbo of 272hp .... Because if it becomes this engine.... at most sell 100 units ... as happened with the previous 3008 that the hybrid sold 56 units in Argentina.
I don't understand this new thing with backseat cupholders being an option. Ford does it too with their cars. This is an option I take for granted should be standard on all cars with backseats.
Io ho preso l’anno scorso, una Alfa Tonale. 1.5 160 cv e 4 cilindri. Niente nero lucido in giro, sedili in vera pelle, pulsanti fisici su sterzo e clima. Insomma sembra un’auto vera.
Good looks outside, interesting inside, but it's all form and no substance for me if the engine is so weak. The main thing you're buying with a car is the engine and this issue plus the touch buttons everywhere would make it a no from me
Terrible UI design to have that lower menu bar picker screen. Love the fabric interior, makes it feel like a living room. Sadly we don't get Peugeot here in the USA.
Fabric interior are absolutely terrible. In 6 years time they will have all sorts of dirt, marks, spots, stains which will never go away. With leather/plastic at least you can wet wipe or apply some chemicals and then clean them wipe. But because these are clothes, all the stains will be soaked and the clothes will be discoloured. But unlike washing clothes in the washing machines, these you can't wash, and wiping will only smudge and make things worse. Whoever came up with these silly 'fabric interior' had only one thing in mind: to shorten the lifespans of the vehicle!
Great video. Thank! I’m currently trying to decide between the hybrid versions of the Peugeot 3008 and the Hyundai Tucson. Both appear to have lovely cockpits with ultra wide panoramic dashboard screens, which I love. Any thoughts on which is better?
great review Thomas as always, but for the cost, no rear cupholders, no back seat drop from boot, huge metal heavy boot, and very poor engine power at that level for a SUV, wont be overtaking much in that, on highland roads. they need to do better, and stop using 3 cylinder engines to drive massive SUVs. there are better alternatives from Mazda, Skoda etc.
I don't get it - the Tiguan with a 130 PS motor, so similar to this, starts from 37.150€ list price. With some options, it would be the same price as your example, but more roomy with better build quality and practicality. And no capacitive BS steering wheel.
Pricing with extras with the Tiguan is easily excessive whereas the 3008 would just add some thousands with more equipment. After all like I said, it also often depends on the leasing rate
Well I don't know what better quality the Tiguan has since it's almost becoming a duster, maybe the old one, but in the new one its a lot of hard plastic
That's fascinating about the economies made on the passenger seat. I wonder whether on right hand drive cars they bother to swap the seats over, or just give the driver the cheap one?
I mean the cockpit looks stylish as hell, kinda like some spaceship or something, i'd even say i prefer the looks and style over tesla in this futuristic approach. Same as tesla however it's a complete gimmick and form over function problem. Screen instead of physical speedometer tires eyes quicker, the flicker can be distracting and not having even basic functions as buttons but having to flip through menus on touch screen for everything is just a dealbreaker.
seeing that you pay a lot for designs. for 3008 new gen itself, no backseats releasing levers (3008II allure had), no cupholders for backseats (3008II allure had with a ski hatch), 136 e-DCS6 48V P2 MHEV on 3008 III = 136 e-DCS6 48V P2 MHEV on 3008 II ( = 3008 II Puretech 130 base + 150kg MHEV) + 100kg fatter platform, etc.
Gracias 🙏
They say it can go up to 1 km using only electric motor. As i know, mild hybrid cars cant do that. So this is not neither a mild hybrid nor a hybrid. Right?
Battery kWh size is for example double the size in the Toyota hybrid system. Here in the 3008, it is kinda strange. For example I had the battery full and the ICE was never shut off. Never. Then the battery was almost depleted, and when I was getting off the motorway, suddenly the car drove all-electric for quite a while. I dont see any logic. It seems that it does run electric when the engine is already very warm but it seems its not that related to the battery status, kinda weirdo.
I used to own the previous gen 3008. No doubt it’s a nice looking car inside-outside with lots of tech however the engine is super crap and powerless. Eats lots of engine oil. Bloody useless!
Great review Thomas. I can’t believe this car costs so much. Who designed the rear carbuncle. The steering wheel alone would stop me from buying this car. So they have a screen to select things that come up on another screen that you then use to adjust😅. That’s just madness and stupid. Bad enough every single new car needs drivers to take our eyes off the road to adjust fan speed and temperature but in this one it’s twice - just for the fun of it.
A 1.2 liter engine is way to small for a car of that size. It's basically a motorcycle engine but with an ecessive back pack. It will strain to much and it can not tow without guzzling fuel like a V8. With Peugeots history regarding engines of that size it will propably be riddeled with problems and short life span due to strain and a poor design. A second hand buyer should shy away.
As far as I tested this hybrid version it gives around 1,5-2 l of fuel saving compared to the 1.2 eat8 in everyday driving so I can’t agree on that one.
Another great review. I saw an e3008 for the first time in May on the M25, and I thought then it was a striking looking car. A month later, I saw my second e3008. This time, it looked strange and awkward from nearly every angle, especially from the back. I'd take the Nissan of this any day.
Last year I purchased a Nissan QQ J12 Tekna. If I'm choosing today I would take the same car again over this Peugeot. I had a 308 T9 and I just couldn't get used to it I-Cockpit and all in the screen design...
Just remember that every car manufacturer (especially VW because of all the emission fines (over 30 billion €)) have to cheap-out on some materials/features in order to achieve set price goals.
That engine is a joke. Who is going to buy this after 3-5 years old with 100k km? Where is the resale value? They are selling you design, not quality…Tiguan after 3 years will probably still be more expensive than this car brand new…
Vw is valuable than Peugeot after 100,000kms, but all euro brands' reliability is a joke infront of king TOYOTA. 200,000kms means a run-in period for a rav4 or sienna
@@agerautimate8272i agree.. but every toyota looks like shit, so they are not really a contender…toyota is made for people with no taste and no driving expectations…🤮
Sadly the whole stellantis group is not a car company but a bean counter financial institution. And they don’t have any sensible car except for some bright spots. And with the next generation even those will disappear( Giulia, Stelvio).

Very controversial interior, high instrument cluster almost impairing visibility, steering wheel too imho design should not affect such things but well I guess there are people who will like it.
if u tried it u will feel u diving a school bus driving big boring normal cars steering wheel
trust me and give it a try
The interior is awesome! A breath of fresh air!
You can literally buy a nice 3008 + a 208 GT for the price of a well equipped Tiguan 😂. Very nice review with the comparisons between allure and gt, thanks Thomas!
appreciated! please share :)
I don't understand that pricing. For comparison: The Citroen C4 Plus with the same engine starts at 10000 Euro less in Germany... And the passenger seat is comfortable, too... Citroen and Peugeot belong to Stellantis...
Citroën C4 is much smaller.
Wow, thats some cool interior! BMW should watch this! But more real Buttons would be nice
What do you mean the screens are straight up copied from BMW but still looks very cheap
Did you hit your head on something?
@@binflydushy Peugeot sources it's telematics from Magneti Marelli, that doesn't sound like a cheap source and possibly the same company BMW sources from.
I hope that in South America they put real engines like the classic THP or even being from the Stellantis group they put the 1.3 trurbo of 175hp or even the 2.0 turbo of 272hp .... Because if it becomes this engine.... at most sell 100 units ... as happened with the previous 3008 that the hybrid sold 56 units in Argentina.
Dear car designers. All we want is physical climate controls and more buttons. THANK YOU
@Huseyin1422 Dear customers, this is not up to the design department to make this kind of decision.
@@jiby91 Dear financial teams at car manufacturers. All we want is no budget limitations on physical buttons. Thank you.
I don't understand why people want physical climate buttons, i set mine to 21 and that was it, never touched it since
I don't understand this new thing with backseat cupholders being an option. Ford does it too with their cars. This is an option I take for granted should be standard on all cars with backseats.
Even outdated, I more and more admire Mazda's slick design. Hope they are not going to ruin CX-5 successor's look.
The main thing you're buying with a car is the engine and this issue plus the touch buttons everywhere would make it a no from me
2:10 don't let Peugeot hear you calling their "Lion Claw" lights 'Tiger Claws'!!! 😂
Thanks 🙏 i m trying to get a Tucson facelift!
best interior for the price
great review Thomas as always, but for the cost, no rear cupholders, no back seat drop from boot, huge metal heavy boot, and very poor engine power at that level for a SUV, wont be overtaking much in that, on highland roads. they need to do better, and stop using 3 cylinder engines to drive massive SUVs. there are better alternatives from Mazda, Skoda etc.
Loving the design and features
I don't get it - the Tiguan with a 130 PS motor, so similar to this, starts from 37.150€ list price. With some options, it would be the same price as your example, but more roomy with better build quality and practicality. And no capacitive BS steering wheel.
Pricing with extras with the Tiguan is easily excessive whereas the 3008 would just add some thousands with more equipment. After all like I said, it also often depends on the leasing rate
Well I don't know what better quality the Tiguan has since it's almost becoming a duster, maybe the old one, but in the new one its a lot of hard plastic
Very stylish Inside
Brother huhhh😂😂😂😂
That's fascinating about the economies made on the passenger seat. I wonder whether on right hand drive cars they bother to swap the seats over, or just give the driver the cheap one?
Thank you for marking the difference between hybrid and mild hybrid, I always thought its hybrid like C-HR.
HOW does a vehicle with a wheelbase this long have so little backseat space? HORRIBLE packaging, stupid design.
And no rear cup holders what the hell
Gracias 🙏
Glossy black steering wheel buttons. Jesus.
The cockpit really feels liked you'd never expect any intrusion, even in a bad accident or something like that.
How dare they save money on a passenger seat!! I wonder maybe if the GT has a more comfortable passenger seat
4:20 I was waiting for "pump it up y'all!"
gotta re-live that
We can literally hear that engine is already breathless and loud... 😂😂😂
I used to own the previous gen 3008. No doubt it’s a nice looking car inside-outside with lots of tech however the engine is super crap and powerless. Eats lots of engine oil. Bloody useless!
It's stellantis so Stellar probs in the long run... Once and never again.
😅😅
Yet Peugeot rates highly with consumers and has come out high in the recent Driver Power survey, above premium brands.
Here in Australia Stellantis is not doing well with their "brands" & therein lies the problem with Stellantis...
Great review Thomas. I can’t believe this car costs so much. Who designed the rear carbuncle. The steering wheel alone would stop me from buying this car. So they have a screen to select things that come up on another screen that you then use to adjust😅. That’s just madness and stupid. Bad enough every single new car needs drivers to take our eyes off the road to adjust fan speed and temperature but in this one it’s twice - just for the fun of it.
thanks m8 !
A second hand buyer should shy away.
i wanna see you review the e46 sedan!!!
Wich one is better, 3008 or Tucson?
3008 ftw
As far as I tested this hybrid version it gives around 1,5-2 l of fuel saving compared to the 1.2 eat8 in everyday driving so I can’t agree on that one.
I was more referring to competitor engines in comparison
Liah preferring to prepare lunch when launching the car tells you all about its acceleration 😂
Hope you're review new Tucson as well.
I was the 1000th LIKE!
😎
Buy Honda or Toyota guys 1.5 will always wins
Lol nah
best car in it's class by far but i would go for the electric GT version
this engine doesn't suit the 3008
it's made for the 208
i love this car
@1:24 is it a firefly?
thats rather reflections from the headlamps in the camera lens :)
Never again Peugeot never I’m disappointed, Paying money for plastic !! I was have this car only for 10 day I was have the option to exchange the car I swear never again.

Hey Thomas, when will you test the new Golf?
In about a week we have a first driving test
I’m driving a company car 5008, the driving mode selector is the most idiotic thing in this world, dumbs*hit comfort to s*hit sport
Another great review. I saw an e3008 for the first time in May on the M25, and I thought then it was a striking looking car. A month later, I saw my second e3008. This time, it looked strange and awkward from nearly every angle, especially from the back. I'd take the Nissan of this any day.
cheers !
the design of the current Peugeot 3008 is much more appealing than this one
1,2l 3cyl is too small. I would pass I think.
Would crush the Tiguan if it wasn’t for the absolutely trash haptic steering wheel buttons. Complete ux fail.
Last year I purchased a Nissan QQ J12 Tekna. If I'm choosing today I would take the same car again over this Peugeot. I had a 308 T9 and I just couldn't get used to it I-Cockpit and all in the screen design...
We want more of Tomas referencing memes in the reviews haha
Just remember that every car manufacturer (especially VW because of all the emission fines (over 30 billion €)) have to cheap-out on some materials/features in order to achieve set price goals.
Very nice front and tail, blase profile..
This has literally less interior space than a Citroen C3 Aircross which starts under €20k.

0:08 Unique interior, mhmmmm ;)
The operation of the navigation feels like it’s from the ‘90s. It’s an absolute disgrace.
Way better
Interior is great but not sure about the exterior design. Saw this in reality and it doesn’t look very coherent.
Sadly the whole stellantis group is not a car company but a bean counter financial institution. And they don’t have any sensible car except for some bright spots. And with the next generation even those will disappear( Giulia, Stelvio).
New Mokka 130 hp is tip-top
Petrol! EV need many more years to be optimized.
Electric-only EV cars are the future of car manufacturing.
4:26 brudah eeeeww hahaha
too expensive for that, i got Ford Kuga for much less.
the backseat space is pretty much non-existent
Old looks better...
Just get a mazda cx5 instead of this. An 2.0 is much better than this. Also the design is excellent without problems fro. Peugeot
Lack of engine choices and no diesel makes the Tiguan a better choice sadly.
The Peugeot diesel engines (especially the 2.0L) are brilliant. They just go forever and have plenty of power.
This seems like a step down from the previous model.
The French government is the reason for the tiny engine
Tiguan looks old in comparison with 3008
Such designs stand in time. These aggressive looking Peugeots will seem dreadful in a few years
In my country, the new Tiguan is 3000 euros CHEAPER than the new Peugeot 3008.
Talking with equipment
@@autogefuehl, yes with similar equipment I mean ! Greece: new Tiguan 1.5 mh dsg is 35.000 euros . New Peugeot allure mh is 38.000 euros.
does the door closing sound really matter on your videos youre the only guy i watch who does this type of thing dont know if its a thing in germany for these types of content creators there but people in the uk llike mat watson from carwow dont do this here ngl i think this is pretyy pointless
Always when you drive a car u have to enter first - and the door closing sound can show quality or not. This test is highly appreciated here by the majority of
Mat indeed does that time to time. Accelerat8 (Canada) always does that at almost every review so Thomas is not alone and a lot of people do care about door closing sound.
they saved the seat or they forgot it ? 😂🎉😮😂🎉 18:10
Saved money 💰😎
