  • Buxton Mountain Rescue Team received a call from our colleagues at Edale Mountain Rescue Team to assist with the rescue of a casualty high up on the Kinder Plateau. While out walking from Hope to Edale, along the southern edge path, the casualty had taken a tumble sustaining a painful lower leg injury and making further progress impossible.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team was initially alerted and called on Buxton Mountain Rescue to provide further numbers to assist in what became a long stretcher carry.
As team vehicles arrived at the car park the first sections were deployed onto the hill with the equipment necessary to begin initial treatment of the casualty. As further personnel arrived the stretcher equipment was then carried up the hill to the site of the incident at the top of Ringing Roger.
After making the patient comfortable and providing pain relief, the casualty was then placed onto the stretcher to begin the long journey back to the road. The path down from Ringing Roger presented many short, awkward sections for the stretcher party, but they were soon at the bridge crossing Grinds Brook and into Edale Village to meet an ambulance from our colleagues at East Midlands Ambulance Service.
We wish the casualty a swift recovery from the injury and a prompt return to the Peak District National Park to complete the walk.
