I really liked this horse at Ascot and put a small bet on him today - what a thrill to see him win so well!
Henri Stafford stated the main reason why Goliath came over because his horse needs a very strong pace to be able to show his true running as he pulls very hard in much slower races. With Coolmore running almost two front runners then a fast pace was guaranteed. The winning time was almost 2 seconds faster than standard and all the other races on the card were slower than standard. Great placing by Henri and just what the horse has always wanted.
@@lorristan jockey on Obrien pacesetter should be fired. Way too fast for 1m 4f .
That is great analysis, I wish I had said it.
@@Robloxxverse-go5ik I'd like to see AOB criticise his staff instead of the constantly praising. Number 1 alot of them need to lose weight.

@@Marjopolo302Based on what exactly?
@@wontbelongnow5567You can call any Derby winner over hyped if he wins a particularly poor Derby.
Auguste Rodin's performance was a considerable improvement on his showing in this race last year. He will never again win a 12f G1 race in Europe.
Stupid comment. Hell win the Arc
Unless his price is 10 to 1 or more lol.
@paradisehotel5005 yes he improved a lot than last year, you can see from both body and mental wise in paddock. if he has an ideal setup on the pace, he can still grap G1 even 12f. but again, overrated horse.
When Soumillon came cruising up on Goliath behind Luxembourg, Rebel's Romance, & Auguste Rodin, he had so much horse still left under him that he literally looked like he'd just jumped into the race at the quarter pole. Horse looked like he was ready to make another circuit around Ascot if anyone else wanted to join him!!
Off his form, I could understand his 25-1 odds but he won like a 1-2 shot. He seems to have improved by 5-10 lengths out of nowhere.
Goliath has scope like a Monster
@@controlleddemolition9112 His 25-1 odds might have something to do with getting close but failing to win in TWO Group 2 races. If he were #2 or #4 in just ONE G2 race, quite some people would be impressed by a solid performance in his first G2 race ever and the odds could be lower to reflect his unknown potential. But getting close in two G2 might bring up the thought of his upper limit being revealed. Arguably, people could still not be surprised by a two-time G2 placed horse to win a G1. But the way he won today given the class of his opponents was definitely a surprise.
@@eddiey4k exactly .His odds were reflective of his ratings and form .There was no way he could win on either yet he destroyed the field .Even allowing for Auguste Rodins failure how did he beat the others so easily ?
@@eddiey4k It's not as though he was a lightly raced, unexposed horse coming in. He's a 4yo making his 9th start. His recent RPRs were in the 110-115 range, and you would expect that it might take 125 -130 to win here against this field. In the US, when we see form jumps like that, it's usually because the horse transferred to a trainer who has better juice.
Hats off to Goliath. A very good horse. I believe ground was a factor. They seemed to be going into it a bit.
That bodes well for the Arc as its usually soft in October

Could not understand 30-1 odds (admittedly I backed e/w) being offered.
Goliath is one smart horse if he is in The Arc he will win
The race went pretty much how I expected, I just didn't factor in the French giant with an odd walk who cruised up to some decent horses as if they were selling platers. No hard luck stories here, all horses seemed to run to their form. Congrats to connections on making the race a bit more interesting than it would have been.
Interesting a horse he beat fair and square was half his odds.
@@galdessa1 yes that was part of the reason I completely overlooked the winner. I don't get why Middle Earth is rated highly, very little evidence on the track to back up his price for today's race. Auguste Rodin once again proves that you can fake ability and be a 6 times G1 winner just by being lucky and precocious enough to win mostly against his low level generation, and some other low level G1 races. All 3 times he participated in high-level real G1s (KG and Dubai) that involved many strong senior horses with actual pace, he always sank in embarrassing fashion as the No.1 favorite
It might be better for him to place dead last in this race to make excuse about "not being motivated", but he was chasing hard and still got crushed, it's simply a lack of ability that was being exposed here, just like the previous KG and Dubai

It's becoming embarrassing, AR won last time and still excuses. He isn't as good as they think, never has been, just waffle for his stud fee.
I agree completely with this opinions 👏
Paris Olympics-a French winner here was written in the stars.
Luxembourg...one of the worst managed horses in the past few years; shoehorned into an Arc he wasn't ready for at 3; held out of several important late season races last year at 4 when he was in good form; buried in 2 starts in the middle east this winter; and foolishly declared a "12 furlong horse" when he stole a weak Coronation Cup on the lead; he excels at 10 furlongs & might get 12 furlongs in America, but if the lads were really enterprising, they'd chuck him into the BC Mile, let him sit back & come blazing with a late run like he did in his messy 2000 Guineas at 3; or maybe they should just sell him to their Australian clients.
@@tomojay28 i'd have to agree with most of what you say, every since his Irish champions stakes wins there have been some odd choices of race for him. I don't think BC mile would suit though as that's more like 7f race, maybe the QE2 at Ascot would be a better opportunity to run specialist millers ragged.
No complaints there. Goliath won easily.

Me neither, I don't many were.
That was a genuinely good win. Auguste Rodin was rubbish today and looked a tad unwell, but even if he had been on song he would have been hard put to it to cope with Goliath on that performance.
Well it was a more satisfactory race than the G2 at York which was a 3f dash and one of the most horrific advertisements for British racing. I have seen 2m hurdlers go faster.
Aidan has set this up for the French raider today with his 2 pacemakers going mad on the front end but in all honesty the winner was never more than a couple of lengths behind the fav and Rebel Romance so it wasn't as if he came from the back, so no fluke result.

@@Essydyk yes very odd tactics but I remember them doing similar in a Melbourne cup thinking they could just take off with three of them in front and not get caught.

Yeah, I regret not sending it, because it turns out I was absolutely right. Goliath is a special, and incredibly talented horse.
O'Brien is a disgrace as a trainer .. he's lost my respect for ever ..why ? He gets interviewed after the race saying they were worried about the ground for his favourite Auguste Rodin .What was wrong about warning punters beforehand as he knew his horse would not like the ground ? He could have warned the punters with the caveat that his horse might still win but out of common decency ,he could have let the punters know that they were worried .An utter disgrace and a bookies benefit .
There was nothing wrong with that going, they had watered lightly over night to take the jar out of it and nothing more, the tactics of running a pacemaker and lying so close to him didn't pay off, but you are correct, if he had concerns before the race? He should have voiced them.
If O'brien was so worried about the ground why did he run him weird how the times were fast if the ground was loose!

Horse racing the most dodgy and corrupt sport on the planet.
Unless yu know how it works.
@@galdessa1 Very few do most people punting are mug punters. Guarantee you at a normal days racing in uk with an average race field of say 10/12 I guarantee you 7/8 of them horses are not trying and dont even want to win the race so ordinary joe soap is backing a horse that isnt even gonna try and thats a fact.
true
Why are they watering tracks in Europe. That track has a huge bias for closers given the soft conditions. O brien tactics here were suicidal
Soft ? They ran 2.27 faster than standard
O'brien is a genius...he never gets it wrong, and neither does Moore.
Going was good to firm !
@@anotherblonde I can see the mud in jockeys & horses faces. Are you kidding! 😳 That track was soft if not sloppy
The sloppy conditions suited the French horse. Can someone explain to me, why are they watering tracks in the wettest part of planet 🤔 firm is now soft. Its ridiculous 😒
Has there been any consistency all season? Getting frustrating to watch now🥱
