I no right.... Hes all trophy bound.... And then forced 2 take a hard right...
Don't, I had my bet on that horse :'(
Respect for the 3 horses who continued the race without their rider
Herd instinct.
@@lumini3172 Meanwhile that horse that refused to race:
@@truthboom
And? Different horses react differently to stress and overstimulation. It overrode that particular horse’s herd instinct.
Sort of like how that one horse jumped a fence to race after bikers in a marathon. It didn’t jump over fences normally, but it did in that instance. That particular horse’s herd instinct gave it a reason to jump over the fence while other horses might’ve gotten scared and ran away instead.
So yeah, different horses react differently.
Generally speaking, though, most horses who were _already_ running in the race would continue running after losing their rider. I’ve even seen horses with serious, death-sentence injuries try to continue running. It’s heartbreaking.
@@lumini3172 Or the horse holds a grudge and decided not to participate. Not all are herd instinct. Can herd instinct lets a horse read Human emotion or even do Math? Intelligence can overrode that herd instinct.
@@truthboom
I’m sorry, what?
Horses can’t hold grudges, they don’t have the brain capacity for that. They can fear someone or have reactions to things they had bad experiences with, yes, but they don’t hold grudges.
Most animals can read the emotions of other animals to some extent but they still have instincts that can be hard for them to ignore. Doing math doesn’t change anything about that either.
Horses love racing and they love all the extreme pampering they get. They get rub-downs, best food, best vet attention and they are in top condition.
"Horses love racing" is BS. Many horses love to RUN, but horses have no concept of RACING or of coming in at one position or another. Equally, many horses HATE to run and are TERRIFIED of being forced together. Making generalizations about what some other being loves or hates is foolish.
I love how the horse just kept going when there jockeys come off :D
I would love to see a race with no jockey. let the horses run on thier own.
@@k9thundra that would be very dangerous. Horses without riders are liable to veer off course. Those rails are plastic tubes and they can plow right through them.
Лошади без жокеев скачут не хуже и не падают👍
It’s herd instinct. They don’t want to race.
really? thats sad. fuck u for supporting this, its nothing but animal abuse
5 years later, youtube recommended this to me, and I watched it. Why?
Same and now i‘m here and idk why lol
What’s the problem?
@@abc98114 no kidding, that was awesome!
Just now for me. Lol.

For some reason I have fallen in love with watching the old racers thay bring back so many memories
This isn't a race lmao this is a who can survive the longest.

Very well said
I thought the same thing lol God bless them horses nd jockeys
Cheers for the riderless horses determinedly running the race- their own way.
Ofc they can. Horses are naturally wild animals. In the wild they jump things higher then this. The only reason there was accidents is because horses were clumping together on the jumps. 🤷🏻♀️
loose horses are a terrible hazard in any race

claire winterriver - I see you on a lot of these comments. Stop trying to defend this ‘sport’, clearly you condone animal cruelty if you don’t see anything wrong with this. I’ve said it before, the horses will GO ROUND the jump if they can, they don’t enjoy jumping the fences at all. They follow the other horses because they’re pack animals and it’s instinct. That DOES NOT mean they enjoy what they are doing.
@@clairewinterriver9750 horses dont jump much in wilderness 😂😂

Wow this race has got everything! Action, drama, betrayal,(horse puts its hoof down! Wants a take on the receipts at the start of the race!), narration is superv, comedy,(horses running amok w/no riders! LOVE IT!
If u really want to enjoy this Race,u have to watch the Legendary "Red Rum" he ran this Race 5 times(back in the 1970's,&u can watch those Races on YT),
with a record of 3W&2,2nd places....He was a "One of a kind "Wonder horse"the likes of we are unlikely to see again!
And the Race back in those yrs was a lot tougher!
I remember putting on 5 pounds with my family on pineu and going mental when he won. I was 13
These horse races are crazy. And they literally have a job for everyone on that track. Controlling where the loose horses go. Someone to get the bushes after they jump it. Ambulance driving alongside horses. Someone to get falling jockeys. Literally everything. Idk why but I enjoy seeing things like that.
It's the only sport that you have a Vey and a Doctor and a Ambulance following
The National Field heading to Bechers Brook on the first circuit used to be one of the most exciting moments in all of sports period. They have now turned Bechers into little more than a Brush Hurdle. The Ditchs at Cheltenham, Newbury & Kempton are more challenging now than the Chair Fence. The remaining unique part of the course is the Canal Turn because of the 90 degree angle.
Maybe the race organizers caught flack as the number of maimed and dead horses rise cumulatively each year. So sorry that you are disappointed, not.
The rate of horses dying has increased since they lowered the height of jumps. Now they're running faster and are more bunched up. So it's actually more dangerous now. You can look it up and see that the percentage of horses dying per starting horses has increased significantly since 1989, when they first started lowering fences and evening out ditches. Search for "List of equine fatalities in Grand National".
Wow they made it safer for the horses and jockeys ? How dare they 😮

I backed Pineau De Re, best jockey over the national fences in recent times, Leighton Aspell, a superstar. I have to say that as he made me a few quid, lol.
as an american, this is the first time i have ever seen or heard of ANYTHING like this! this is surprisingly violent and very hysterical! there were riderless horses actually winning at one point. this is something americans would love too! haha
shows how useless these jockeys are.
horse racing is a lot worse in america, i think every horse in america is on steriods? not as much as the uk anyway

We have tons of steeple chases in America, we just don’t have the Grand National...
michael roberts We have Steeple Chases every year all over America. It goes from fall to spring. There are no guns involved, just lots of champagne.
Considering a serious of terrible jumps, Pineau de Re's performance was simply amazing!
Terrible jumps? These have been seriously shortened and narowed in the last 10-25 years.
@@dinerouk
It’s still a bad and stupid idea. Too many horses going too fast for the jumps. One horse trips over a jump and at least 2 others will always fall down over them.
Dorpets meant that Pineau de Re made jumping mistakes.
Definitely. My heart was in my mouth. Don't normally do well on the National but I'd backed him. I then got 5 numbers on the National Lottery that same evening. 😊
This was a superb win by Pineau De Re whose jockey Leighton Aspell followed up with another win in the race 12 months later with Many Clouds.

I hadn't ever seen such a long race in my life..
It is a fantastic race. The horses qualify to race. It is 4 miles long, 30 fences. It has been modified, they reduced Bechers Brook fence.
The problem with some of the riders falling off is that there's simply too many horses
yes, I counted ten jockeys down😬

The Grand National has always been one of the most dangerous races in the world! However, it is so full of adrenaline, it will stay a desirable landmark for a horse, or jockey. Man o War had a son who won it, named Battleship.
Most dangerous race in the world? How on earth have you not heard of the Isle of man TT?
So it was termed in my childhood, back in the 60s. Haven't heard of the Isle of Man, no. I didn't follow steeplechasing when I grew up. Don't know why, just didn't.

Very interesting - I've read all the Dick Francis novels many times, and he never once mentioned loose horses staying with the pack for multiple circuits, cutting across the track in front of the leaders, and perhaps occasionally passing the finish line ahead of the race winner.

The horses are bred to race. They don't give a crap if they have someone on their back or not.
Beverly, it looks to me like there are more loose horses causing problems since they started lowering fences and evening out ditches. Everyone's more bunched up and the loose horses keep running longer. Maybe the higher fences in the past discouraged horses from continuing? Not sure but I've been watching lots of races lately and the loose horses weren't as much as a problem in the past.
...with Shaka laka boom boom...🤣🤣 Dead
One of my favourite grand nationals
wonderful.. thanks bro! keep it up..
Congrats to the connections. nice to see unsung heroes have their day and no injuries. However, I am still old school and prefer loose horses and the old fences as I dont want to see horses breasting the fences 3ft down as the winner did at the 13th. As we are hell bent on keeping as many horses running as possible may go some way to explain pile ups at the Canal Turn. Dont really give two hoots for the anti GN group.
Geniales los caballos que siguen corriendo sin jinete.

That's not a race, it's a mess
Ísis R. It is pretty hilarious to see all those horses in a huge cluster, most of them losing their riders or being pulled up. I counted 15 horses at the end crossing the line. 40 started the race. So almost two thirds of the horses didn't even finish the race, lmfao!!!
+Ísis R. Yes I know that is not a race it is a massacre, every jump a horse goes down, that's when you know there's a problem. This is one equine sport that probably has more causalities then any other equine sport. I always liked steeple chase and horse racing but when things go wrong to manyy times theres a problem.

Across The Bay is one of the unluckiest horses in recent times. He lost about 40 to 50 lengths when the loose horse ran him out to the outside rail. By the time he got going again, he was last. He eventually finished in about 12th place, maybe 40 to 50 lengths behind the winner ....... do the maths on that one!
Those who don't know what this is all about..dig out an ancient movie called National Velvet, made in 1944 and starring a then 12 year old Elizabeth Taylor...or the sequel from 1978. starring 14 year old Tatum O' Neil.....both were about horse crazy girls realizing their dreams!
