Forget all the nonsense Goliath and Christoph were just too good reminded me of the style of Montjue in the 90s

Hope you haven't had any of your hard earned on him. He was being ridden at 1m 10sec. He and Auguste Rodin both had their heads up straining to keep pace from a long way out.

Hi Lew. Must have watched this race replay at LEAST twelve times.
The first 600 (3fls) was the fastest of the overall race. But there was no rest period up front with the remaining sectionals ranging in low to mid 12s. The track better side of good going and pace ensured a fast time.
Tactically the winner hunted August Rodine most of the way before unleashing.
    Blind Freddie could see Goliath
    was travelling when pulled out
to launch. If you watch closely
you will see he had the race won a furlong out and half eased the winner in the last 10 strides. Don't know what they have planned for winner but obviously the Caulfield Cup would be right up his alley.
Yes an import ran second in
last years C.CUP to the dual
    C.C and M.C winner.
The question in my mind is can Goliath run out 2800 metres or further? Cheers

@@gregorynichols9022 I heard the trainer speaking post race, he seems pretty open to anything as the stallion option is not there. May as well chase big prize money races in Oz!

Not going to get into the Soumillion ride. He won. I agree the O'Brien horses looked to be doing a little teamwork. Went a bit too fast up front though and mutilated AR's chances. He's questionable over 2400m so why go at a frantic pace? Silly. Maybe just poor judgement from the rider of pacemaker Hans Anderson.

It was actually a poor tactical ride from The winning Jockey, he was in the clear just before the turn when the horses behind were about to move around him and put him in a zip fastener pocket but the leader dropped back so fast it flattened the two horses that were about to Lock Goliath away, that gave him plenty of room to move when he needed to go, he should have came out when he had the chance, he obviously had the race won a long, long way from home, only bad luck could beat him
in saying that if he had come out when he should have maybe he would have been the one flattened by the weakening leader, it was almost like he knew the leader was going to stop like he was shot, and why was the leader traveling the widest all the way, obviously he wasn't there to try and win, he knew he was going to weaken so got out of the way of his stablemates who were following, obvious team riding, they would never get away with that (cheating) in Australia(at least I would hope they wouldn't)
Goliath certainly had a lot on them
Was there a steward's report on Middle Earth? did he finish the race? he was being eased down a long way out but went out of the picture

I don't think AR is a true mile and a half horse .... Middle Earth ran poorly
