One of the best things about the R6 is in first you can basically go nothing to redline on a highway slip road and you’re around the speed limit, but my god you had a blast getting there.
My 2015 R6 was my first bike. Never riden a motorcycle till I got it. I LOVE my R6! Road it 3 hours to the beach and 3 hours back home in the same day. Gets about 130 miles to a tank of gas.
I am addicted to my 2007 R6, at 38 years old, I am good for about 2 hours then I need to get off and stretch my neck, I find it is impossible for me to not unleash the street squid momentarily every time I ride it. The 10,500rpm threshold is insane with my ecu flashed bike, I hit 10,500 and it's like a rocket ship, night and day :)
im after something punchy for weekend riding (i have a husky svart 401 as my commuter), and was pretty sure it was going to be an R6, and then i heard that exhaust note... its definitely going to be an R6. Also, sidenote: I've been riding for a good few years on the road now, but ive improved massively over the last year thanks to your vids. thanks for helping keep me safe, papa yam.
Great to see The Papa Yamster going back to those "squid roots"! When you pinned it & ripped through the gears .... literal goose bumps! 👍I Traded a Sportster for a R6 couple years back & the more time spend on it the more it scratches my itch like nothing else! M4 pipe on it hits just the right note.
Took my R6 track bike on the street this past weekend and it was so much fun…. Diavel is my street bike and hit the same roads, it was a completely different experience….
I just picked up a 16’ R6, and it’s quite literally identical to my e90 M3. “Slow” but damn do they rev so high, both came out in 08’, both vehicles belong on the track, and both are so damn beautiful never to be replicated again.
I've got an 04', and I agree. Track is the only place you'll enjoy these bikes. Roll racing will get you to redline, but redline while leaning is a different story.
My first bike was a superbike. It didn’t take me long to understand how so many riders die. They’re definitely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing or don’t respect the power. In my experience 600’s make you feel very confident (maybe too confident) remarkably snappy in the corners and have a healthy amount of power. Litre bikes are just STUPID fast. Very quick and easy to out accelerate your braking capabilities and can get you thrown in jail for the mental speeds it does in just a few seconds of full throttle. Nothing quite like hopping on an open hwy and opening the throttle to 299kph though.
Yam you nailed it. 'Telepathic' is the explanation I've looking for. I've had my mind made up that an R6 is what I wanted and the 2008 was the one I rode that convinced me. When I'm asked why it has to be an R6 I tell them how well it responds. It does what I want it to do before I tell it to do it. Telepathic is spot on. I've been beating on an 04 R6 for 6 years now and it's a great bike too. A suspension refresh and the R6s isn't far behind the 08 R6. I'll have an 08+ one day.
@@hunterconnors8178 To each his own. I've owned both. I like the style of the 636 over the r6. I like the extra power down low of the 636. I like the handling of the r6 over the 636. R6 fits my height better. I'm sure you have your reasons for your ninja. Have you owned them both for more than 2 seasons? I personally don't care to debate which is better of a bike because that's a matter preference. However for me the ride experience of the r6 keeps me satisfied more than the extra low end power. The satisfaction of having skill over power does it for me. A rider who values skill doesn't believe one bike is better than another because at the end of the day it's on the rider win or lose. And if you lose then you get better, not just buy another bike. I'm over 6 feet tall so the r6 fits me better, handles better, and it does what I need it to do. If I could get the 636 to do that for ME then I'd choose it but that still wouldn't make it the better bike. Each does something the other doesn't and they both win with a good rider. Enjoy the ride my guy, that's what it really all about.
I took a 2000 R6 and re-did the ergos. Big handlebar raising, big seat lowering and lo and behold it's now a perfectly comfortable upright bike. Sure hope others can enjoy the upright version of the early years of the lower reving rendition. truly my favorite bike of all time.
