I Wish they would remove Trade Evolutions because i have no friends
I have lots of friends but the only person close to me who plays Pokémon is my older sister who uses the whole idea of trading with me as a gateway to emotional manipulation
I have friends but
Um
None of them are epic gamers.
I'll need help from my cousin to do so
That’s why we have GTS ^^
I have friends but none of them play pokemon, guess pokemon isn't really the most popular thing in highschool.
There are NPCs for that.
Friendship evolution, especially Crobat, actually is a good way to develop a character. Zubat & Golbat usually used by bad guys or at least a jerk. But because Golbat can only evolve into Crobat when it has high level of friendship, it shows that the character become a better person than they were before, or they're not as bad as they seems.
Example is Silver from gen 2 and its remake. At first, he only care about strong pokemon without care of his pokemon and he has a Golbat until your battle with him at Mt. Moon, when he finally accept that you're stronger because you care about your pokemon. And when you have rematch with him later, his Golbat has become a Crobat, showing that he has become a better trainer that care and respect his pokemon companion.
Cyrus has a crobat tho and I dont think he loves his pokemon
@@solidzack He probably got a grunt to do it for him or stole it off someone who legitimately evolved it.
@@torterranartist4469 Or he was emotionally attached to that Golbat. Even bad guys could have emotional connections with their pokemon after all.
@@rcond4791 You didn't play the games, did you.
@@torterranartist4469 I did, but the games just show how he is now. Not how he was before.
Fun Fact: The Shiny Stone is known as the Hikari Stone in Japan.
Meaning that in both the English and Japanese versions of the Sinnoh games, the female player character shares her name with a Evo Stone.
I've always found interesting and a little weird that we have got the Sun stone, Shiny stone and Dawn stone. These three are almost thr exact same. Thry are all just variations of light or daytime stones IMO
Eh, I can't disagree with you there.
The Moss Rock and Ice Rock also feel kind of redundant these days. With Gen 1's Leaf Stone and Gen 7's Ice Stone.
And the Magnetic Field could've used the Thunder Stone instead.
I also don't understand why they're not in HeartGold or SoulSilver.
I probably would've put the Moss Rock in either Ilex Forest or Viridian Forest.
The Ice Rock could go to Blackthorn City's Ice Path and/or the Seafoam Islands.
And the Magnetic Field could be at the (patch of grass outside of) Kanto's Power Plant.
(And I'm thinking maybe Olivine City due to the Glitter/Shining Lighthouse and the fact that its Gym Leader is a Steel-type user. I don't know.)
They also could've been in the Let's Go versions of Viridian Forest, Seafoam Islands and the Power Plant, but that's another argument for another time.
Shiny is the name of a protagonist?
@Moses Alazzawi
The Shiny Stone's Japanese name is the Hikari no Ishi (or the Light Stone).
And Dawn's Japanese name is also Hikari.
(She's not even the first Mons series main protagonist to be called that.)
(The Eighth DigiDestined from Digimon Adventure was also called Hikari, for example.)
And the Dawn Stone is the Mezame Ishi (or Awakening Stone).
@@HogtreeOctovish i kinda like the magnetic field location type evolutions cause theres a sick scene in the manga where Cyrus goes to mt Coronet to evolve his magneton and nosepass into magnezone and probopass and hes all like "the power of the mountain has granted you new forms" and idk its just kind of a cool concept that a location could imbue pokemon with power
In the future, Cosmoem should evolve based on time of day
OHH YEA I LOVE THAT
I THOUGHT OF THAT IN THE SHOWER
Or sun and moonstone
Pikahetti not really as the way it works now is based on the game
Nope, Cosmoem always evolves in Solgaleo in Sun/Ultrasun/Sword or Lunala in Moon/Ultramoon/Shield
Wow, this video made me realize how underutilized evolution stones are... strange, there’s 800 Pokémon and yet these feel superfluous, with each stone having less then double digits evolutions. I understand the other more niche items having such a small pool, but these have been around since the beginning and are the most obvious/talked about evolution items.
Right? I was shocked as well! Especially since most of them have been there since the beginning but most of the users are still from Gen 1...
Especially with Leafeon, it’s like they thought “Oh, Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon evolve with stones so should we make Leafeon evolve with the Leaf Stone?...Nah! Let’s make it how to level up next to a rock!”
Seriously , all of the eeveelutions could easily evolve with evolutionary stones at this point.
@@MacabreHouse They we're trying to preserve continuity by not retconning mechanics.
A funny theory I heard about evolution stones is that apparently, a Pokemon that is able to evolve using one of them is able to "resist their evolutionary urges" if they come into contact with the one that'll evolve them. That being said, and I personally believe that the reason that only that rather small group of Pokemon are able to evolve using them is because there's something about their biology that makes them more sensitive to the power radiating out of the stones than most other Pokemon are. The reason for both of these things goes back to the anime, where just a single touch from one of these stones will trigger the evolution; however, Pikachu (in the episode in which Ash battled Lt Surge) and Clefairy (in episode 5, which takes place in Mt Moon) are seen coming into contact with the stones that'll make them evolve without evolving, therefore "resisting their evolutionary urges", but I don't think that's quite right. The anime has shown at several points that if a Pokemon that evolves by leveling up is strong enough to evolve, they are still able to make themselves not evolve if they so choose, for whatever the reason, which within the context of the anime makes some sense. However, when an item is involved, I don't think it's so simple. I feel this way because items that trigger evolution in the anime are usually shown to do so by way of simply coming into contact with them, as stated before; but because they function this way, I think they'd have to come into contact with the correct Pokemon in a specific way for the transformation to actually be triggered, and since they force the evolution to occur, I don't think it's actually possible for them to "resist their evolutionary urges", so to speak.

Unova, also known as "when tf does this thing evolve?"
Tldr at the end.
Ikr, they went too far with the level up evolutions in Unova. Game Freak prior to gen 5 only went as far as Rhyhorn to Rhydon and Snorunt to Glalie at level 42 for 2 stage evolutions, (I'm not counting Rhyperior because it's a trade evolution) Vibrava to Flygon at level 45 for non-pseudo-legendaries, and Dragonair to Dragonite and Pupitar to Tyranitar at level 55. In gen 5, they introduced 3 Pokemon in 3 stage lines except for the pseudo-legendary that fully evolve later than level 45 and as late as level 54, one level below Dragonair and Pupitar who, keep in mind, are pseudo-legendaries and 6 Pokemon in 2 stage lines that evolve later than level 42 and as late as level 59 (I'm looking at you, Larvesta).
Now you might be asking yourself, "Geez, that's a lot of Pokemon that evolve really late, especially Larvesta. How bad could the pseudo-legendary be?" Oh, it is really bad. Not as bad as Larvesta since there is an additional evolution stage but no other 3 stage line since then has broken the record for highest levels required to evolve. Not even the Cosmog line comes close and they're actually Legendary Pokemon. Unova's pseudo-legendary, Deino, evolves into Zweilous at level 50 and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. 64! To put that level into perspective, the final boss of Black and White is Ghetsis, who's highest level Pokemon is a level 54 Hydreigon. (Cheater!) In order for you to get a Hydreigon before the Elite Four, you need to level grind a Zweilous 10 levels above the final boss's strongest Pokemon. The highest level a wild Pokemon can be in Victory Road without surfing or fishing is 42. (Levels range from 20-45 for surfing and 35-55 for fishing, excluding rippling water) You need to grind on Pokemon that will be at least 20 levels under yours. Not to mention Deino's awful stats will make using it in battle very difficult until it evolves. I know this isn't the best way to level grind for a Hydreigon, but I'm sure there are some people crazy enough to want to have a Hydreigon for the Elite Four.
Tldr: Don't drink and/or smoke when you develop video games, Game Freak.
Edit: I forgot about the Nimbasa Sports Arenas.
Hydreigon: When will my pre-evolution evolve into me?
Unova: Level 63. Take it or leave it.
Fine. I'll stuff it full of Rare Candy.
The "Evolution by Trading" might be- MIGHT BE a deep-rooted love for their Trainer, and when their Trainer Trades them away, they become stronger in hopes that their original Trainer will accept them.
That's a clever theory, I like it!
That's beautiful and sad. Love it
Or the pokémon just goof off while being traded. (Karablast stealing Shelmet's shell)
It makes even less sense in the anime, where they have huge machines that are are somehow needed to officially transfer trainer ownership instead of just handing each other your Pokéballs. In that sense, it's like those machines' only purpose in the first place is to facilitate trade evolutions.
thats exactly what happens when you have 2 3ds consoles.
Inkay's Evolution Method still sounds like a first grader's first playground prank gone completely wrong by saying to evolve Inkay, you have to turn your 3DS upside. It's so ridiculous, but, hilarious. I know it's real, but, still, it sounds like a first grader on the playground would tell their friend.
I dunno if you can flip the Switch since Inkay is confirmed in SS
@@naturalharmoniagropius4486 It'll probably be implemented using the controller if their going to add it. Either that, or they'll make it require some other new method to evolve it, such as making sure it knows the move topsy turvy when it reaches the correct level?

Also the video was so well done
I agree, I only got to use Alakazam once because of the GTS system on Pokemon X. I've always wanted Conkeldurr and Gigalith in gen 5, but that's hopeless.
@@snomfrompokemon2496 Funny enough there was a way to get gigalith in game. Theres a dude in mistralton city that will trade you hi boldore for an Emolga. And there no Everstone BS so it'll evolve.
But yeah, they should atleast make some kind of alternative. Like how you can get Gengar in sun and moon by S.O.S chaining with Haunter.
@@Radiolonestar I forgot about the Emolga dude, thanks. I never SOS chained before, so I didn't know about getting Gengar that way.
In Pokémon yellow you could trade a cubone for a machoke which also evolved
@@Radiolonestar Actually, it was even funnier. The way it started was that your player character traded a Boldore to the same guy for his Emolga in Black/White. But in Black 2/White 2, he wants an Emolga from your player character in exchange for a Gigalith. So presumably, the Gigalith was the Boldore that you traded to him in the earlier game!

If Eevee reaches the requirement for multiple evolutions, it prioritizes Leafeon/Glaceon, then Sylveon and lastly Umbreon and Espeon.
That makes sense as Leafeon and Glaceon has the most specific requirements, Sylveon second most and Umbreon and Espeon the most general requirements

If for some reason you're really concerned about whether you ultimately end up with Dustox or Beautifly, don't even bother with Wurmple. Just catch Silcoon or Cascoon in the wild. They're available in most games that Wurmple is.
What about shiny Wurmple?
Soft reset
@@sandorrclegane2307 If you mean for switching between Silcoon and Dustox, that doesn't work. Once you've encountered Wurmple, its evolution is locked in. You can SR until the end of time, but its evolution will not change.
It's almost as if the evolution requires you to have had at least 5 of the one u don't want to get the one u do want.
Another reason why Gen 5 is fantastic - it added Pokémon that actually use the evolutionary stones. I never thought of how many Pokémon use them to evolve before, but the vast majority of the mons that use these stones are either from the generation that the stone was introduced in or are from Gen 5 (with a few here and there from Gen 3 or Gen 6)
How does Inkay evolve in "real life?" Does it have to stand on its head or something.
Yes.
Feebas evolution method is by far the most creative except of Shelmet and Karrablast who are traded for each other and then swap their characteristics, that’s also pretty cool
Shelmet and Karrablast co-evolving when traded is actually due to what the latter (Karrablast) is based on: an insect that preys on snails. I forget exactly what it's called, but it provides the reasoning for this unique evolution.
Whew... I was scared u weren’t going to mention my baby, Shedinja 👌🏼

Very informational. This helped a lot. Thanks.
Anyone else evolve one of these Pokemon unaware of the requirements and assume it levelled up?
Hapiny for me. It just happened to have an Oval stone.
i thought ninjask would evolve into shedinja by leveling up, so i leveled it up until i realised/read online that shedinja would appear only if i had an empty slot when i evolve nincada.
I just realized this was made using PowerPoint and it’s actually well made. Unique.
The Deep Sea Tooth and Scale are specially interesting, because unlike the other trade items, they DO have an effect on Clampearl.
The Tooth DOUBLEs its special attack, making it legendary level, and the Scale doubles its Special Defense, as well as also having the generic eviolite to a more even defense buff.
I love that you can have an entire team of Water Stone evolutions or Moon Stone evolutions. The Moon Stone thing actually inspired the roster for the evil team leader in a Pokémon fan game idea I have. What I don’t love is that you can’t use stones to get the later gen Eeveelutions. There’s a stone that would work for every existing Eeveelution, and if they add a Ghost-type one down the line, the Dusk Stone would work for that one. Oh well, maybe they’ll fix it eventually like they did with Milotic. A girl can dream. I also despise trade evolutions and love friendship evolutions for lore reasons; a lot of my all-time favorite Pokémon have a friendship evolution at some point in their line.
I would love to just get a Glaceon with an Ice Stone, or any number of similar things. I don't even care if it breaks continuity with past games; I'd rather it not make sense than make it so much more complex...
@@emperorcubone Truthfully, I can actually see Eevee evolving using different stones for the evolutions that don't need them. It would become Espeon with a sun stone, Umbreon with a moon stone, Leafeon with a leaf stone, Glaceon with an ice stone, and Sylveon with a shiny stone.

I like that there are all these different ways to evolve pokémon. Sure, it may be a pain in the butt sometimes, but I think it just makes it all the more special.
I kind of put Ancient Power down to drawing from a prehistoric source of energy to evolve. Yanma is based on a dragonfly and Yanmega is based on Meganeura, the extinct group of giant dragonfly ancestors. Swinub and Piloswine are a weird mix but they have elephant/mastodon traits amongst them... Mamoswine is very clearly a mammoth, an extinct relative of elephants. As for Tangela doesn't have such a clear-cut example but I imagine it's something akin to a small, modern shrub with giant trees and foliage as ancestors (such as the massive forests that covered the planet at the same time Meganeura existed.). Might be a bit of a stretch, but that's what I always thought they were going for with using that move.
I’m still confused on why tangela needs to learn ancient power to evolve. Yanma and piloswine I can understand but tangela?
Also Gliscor is the best new sinnoh evolution
Gliscor for life!
I never understood the ancient power evolutions I mean why does this mediocre rock move hold so much significant?
i always assumed that ancient power referred to like prehistoric pokemon but also doesnt account for togepi and corsola and others. so like for yanma and piloswine they become prehistoric versions of themselves (wooly mammoth and even larger, more scary looking dragonflies). from bulbapedia about tangrowth: "Considering Tangrowth's shaggy appearance, Tangrowth may be based on an exaggerated concept of a shaggy caveman. It may also be based on a Green Man, a motif that is represented as a face surrounded by leaves and vines." sorry for the long winded answer i found out about this a couple years ago and thought it was super interesting

That's a weird way to spell Froslass...
Rockruff's Hidden Ability is Steadfast. Own Tempo Rockruff was given out.
You can breed for the ability.
@@heatherreagan8078 True, but you need an Own Tempo Rockruff to GET an Own Tempo Rockruff.
So tyroge evolves based of of nature(thats at least gow i see it) if you have a lonely, hasty, mild, or gentle nature you get a hitmonlee, if you have a bold, timid, modest, or calm nature you get a hitmonchan, and if you have a hardy, docile, serious, bashful, or quirky nature you get hitmontop.
I probably missed a few
I know you know this, but I figured I'd point it out anyway. The Thunder Stone now evolves Charjabug & Magneton into Vikavolt & Magnezone, the Leaf Stone now evolves Eevee into Leafeon, and the Ice Stone now evolves Eevee & Galarian Darumaka into Glaceon & Galarian Darmanitan. So they're getting rid of location-based evolutions and giving the stones more uses.
I remember leveling inkay to the mid 50s before giving up and looking online how to get it to evolve.
That's both hilarious & heartbreaking.
F.
I had a similar experience with Happiny. I took away it's egg stone and gave it a different item, then thought it needed happiness to evolve so I just kept feeding it Pokebeans, to no avail. It was in the 40 levels before I finally looked up a guide.

Professor oak: oh no
Imagine if these became methods:
1. A branch evolution where you can only get the second one by preventing the Pokémon from evolving and after a few rounds of that it gets ‘frustrated’ and evolves without your input.
2. Evolves after beating a set number of Pokémon it’s weak against, for example if you have your water Pokémon beat a bunch of electric Pokémon.
3. Can only evolve when it’s baby evolution is present.
4. Needs to evolve in version A and evolve again in version B.
5. Evolves after not using it after so many battles.
6. Evolves only when fainted.
7. Evolves after being healed at every pokecenter or after being healed the first time at one.
8. Evolves while at the daycare after you get an egg.
I don't know how many times I said this but everytime I hear your intro I see a Cubone being a little drum major leading a flock of other Cubones in a parade. I know silly but awesome at the same time
That's actually really awesome! I'd love to see that...
15:56 The Galar region would be a perfect home for Sligoo...
As someone who lives in the UK, I can confirm that you are 100% right, it loves to rain here.
I know right? xD A native myself. :D I was going to say how cool it would be to have a nice dragon in our region...but then I remembered some of it's pokedex entries and... maybe not. xD
lol Cubone is throwing all the shade on some of these Pokemon evolutions
What a fun video!
