- Legendary Pokémon are something special! (Or at least they're supposed to be...) But sometimes you won't even know they exist since they can be so well hidden, so we're going to fix that by spotlighting where each and every Legendary is within the games. But, uh... there's a lot, so I had to split it up with only the first 4 generations being in this one...
the pokemon instruction books came with braille. Thats how you could find out the regi secrets

Zapdos in Gen 1 can be found INSIDE the Power Plant. I believe that Zapdos outside the Power Plant is HGSS.
Also, in Gen 1, while it is correct that sometimes a Pokéball will miss when it isn't going to catch it anyway, when a Pokéball starts shaking it doesn't automatically means you're going to catch it. A ball will almost always miss when a legendary or a Pokémon like Snorlax is at full HP, but it wil almost always shake when it is at low health.
But in Gen 1, if the Pokemon is at full health, when you hit you will always catch (if the pokemon is a legendary of course).
Same for the zapdos location for LG/FR
IIRC, in gen 1 if the ball starts shaking it will alwasy catch IF the oposing pokemon is sleeping
@@kirezar I did not know that, but last month I played Yellow again and tried catching Dragonair lvl 15 at the Safari zone for my team in Pokémon Stadium. Turns out you are right about the 100% catch rate if it starts shaking. A safari ball always misses Dragonair lvl 15 unless you catch it, so at the exact moment the ball starts to shake, you know you've caught the Dragonair (something like a 10% catch rate). Interesting!

I feel like the legendary golems (the regis) are underrated, they have an interesting concept, all shrouded in mystery, and all of them look awesome! it's just a shame regigigas was cursed with...slow start...even if they reversed how the ability works they'd be WAY stronger! Reversing how slow start works would to be to keep their attack and speed normal, and then halve them after five turns. Anyway, great video!
Or for 2 turns it would still be challenging and a bad ability but atleast useable

@@Tino7100 There was a rumor back in Gen 5 That Regigigas would get Clear Body as a hidden ability. That is something I actually wish happened cause then, Regigigas would suddenly become incredibly good. Or atleast make Slow Start not start over once having Regigigas return to you. Basically, have slow start be in effect for the first 5 turns of any battle, and have it be permanently off after those 5 turns are up.
They where defo fun to see when I had a run through pokemon explorers :)
One extra titbit is that if you somehow manage to get a Hall of Origin Arceus and transfer it to HGSS, and go to the Ruins of Alph like you did with the event Arceus, you can get a second creation trio legendary, though Cynthia won't be there this time.

Real life events weren't the only way to get Jirachi. It was also on the European and Australian version of Pokemon Channel, appearing (and transferable) after watching all four episodes of Pichu Brothers (Which is also one of the various ways Game Freak distributed the berry glitch patch)

In FRLG, there's a bug resulting in the legendary beasts to be deleted from the game if they use "roar"
And another that sticks them with mostly IVs of 0.
If I knew this at the time I encountered entei, then I would have used a master ball or reset. This is actually the reason I watched this video. I'm always hoping my research was wrong, but I will never get entei on my LG GBA game.

To be fair mytical and legendary pokemon were always a different term in japan it just took a long time for ither languages to start using the term.
That being said around gen 5 alot of mythicals obtained a status they really shouldnt just because of their distribution method and a lot of legendaries that should have it dont because of their distribution method so its pretty fair to just ignore the term

1:03 There's also another difference that exists in-lore, Legendaries are Pokemon with great power that have been spoken about in stories that many people have claimed and confirmed to have sighted, while Mythicals are Pokemon that few records exist of confirmed sightings and are really hard to encounter, if ever, so it's not known if those Pokemon actually exist or, if they existed at some point, if they're still around.
17:34 In HG/SS, you can get Articuno without having the 8 Kanto badges. It's just inside Seafoam Islands. Moltres and Zapdos do require the 8 Kanto badges. Zapdos just because it doesn't want to appear earlier and Moltres because of Rock Climb.
The Regis felt like real legends precisely because they were so mysterious and obtusely cryptic. Plus, the braille spells out exactly what to do, and there were two hints at how to read it:
A) The instruction booklet that came with the games had a braille alphabet in the back
B) The rows of rock slabs in the rooms of the underwater cavern you trigger the Regi Event in actually number exactly 26 in total; meaning it gives you the alphabet to decode the messages in order. Granted, it’d be a stretch to put that together as a kid, but it’s notable that it wasn’t that impossible after all.

I was lucky to experience the celebi event in heartgold. Technically it's not a legitimate celebi as it was obtained through action replay. I couldn't get the arceus event to work
Honestly I hate how if you miss the event, you're forced to use Action Replay or miss out on a huge part of the game.

Honestly man I loved the puzzles to get the Regis. Did it myself without the internet actually cause the game came with a little booklet that contained a braille translation table lmao I wish we had more riddles like this ngl
I've heard that the Spear Pillar Arceus unlocks a different version of its event in Johto.
Also, one of my favorite ''legendaries'' is Missingno.
Truly a legend inside a game.
If I remember correctly, its not really a different version of the Johto event. Its essentially the same event twice, allowing you to choose Palkia, Dialga or Ghiratina again.

Will having any of the event items for platinum break the game? I'm sure my copy may have just been old but i wanna double check, I was fairly early in the game so having them was kinda pointless. But please respond i do have a new copy of platinum and i kinda wanna get the enigma stone for soul silver
I know you said Mythical Pokémon are just a sub-category of Legendary Pokémon, but I do like treating them as super-secret rare Pokémon since you can't normally catch them in-game. And I think it's better to call them Mythical to distinguish them from the Legendary Pokémon you can normally catch and not just generalize them as all Legendary.
What defines "normally catch them in-game"? Because if you need an external event trigger, that makes them "Event Legendaries". Otherwise, encountering them gives the chance to battle and catch them as you would any other Pokemon.

Now, I do get where you are coming from...there's an overt difference between the Regi Trio's annoying puzzles that you might never even realize exists and having an encounter with Kyogre/Groudon scripted into the story so that it's inevitable for you to encounter them.
But...well, this may be my Gen 1 origin speaking, but "Legendaries" weren't guaranteed.
You would pass by a waterway near Route 10 on the way to Rock Tunnel, but at this time you wouldn't have Surf (nor could you use it outside of battle if you transferred a Pokemon with Surf into the game) and thus couldn't traverse the waterway to get to the Power Plant. To get Microwave Chicken, you need to backtrack...which many people won't do on their first playthrough because the map is a circle with semi-linear progression. When the next gym or story event is at the end of this road, you'll put off going to a previous route unless necessary.
The Seafoam Islands could induct you into finding Frozen Chicken as you have both Surf and Strength, and reaching the bottom floor might allow you to notice Frozen Chicken on their single platform. But you don't necessarily need to complete the puzzle to progress. So you might save Frozen Chicken for later, if you notice them at all.
Fried Chicken is probably the easiest to encounter in Gen 1, since the path takes you by them anyway and they aren't too far a diversion from the puzzle.
At no point were these Legendaries scripted. You aren't guaranteed to encounter them, and one requires you to stop what you are doing to indulge in following a secret you probably weren't too concerned about to begin with.

When your baseline for "Legendary" is "one-of-a-kind Pokemon", that there's only one of that Pokemon in the game, anything else to distinguish them is doing so overtly with a sub-category. "Story Legendary", "Roaming Legendary", "Post-Game Legendary"...all Legendary Pokemon.
I played R, S, & E, then Pearl, stopped and picked back up in X & ORAS.... nice to see all the cameos in the older games i never played lol

a bit late to the party on this but as of right now from x and y to or as and sun and moon what games would I need to have to theoricaly catch every pokemon up to that point minus the event ones?
Also don't forget that in HGSS, you can actually return to the Sinjor Ruins, and go through the whole event without Cynthia this time, if you bring a different Arceus. Specifically, you use either the event Arceus (which should have the OT of TRU, signifying it's Toys R Us status) or the one caught in Sinnoh with the Azure Flute (which you'll have to distribute to yourself in some way), and then alternate for the second event. Important to note that you can't pick the one that you picked before.
It's best to grab Giratina from this event, as it will be holding the Griseous Orb, and be in its Altered Form (you couldn't trade the Griseous Orb in gen 4, so it's the only legitimate way to get the altered form of Giratina in HGSS). The other two don't really have anything special.

I loved Jirachi in gen 3. I had the disc from Pokemon Colosseum. I would constantly change my mind about which starter I liked in Gen 3 at that age. Having Jirachi each time I restarted was a big boon.

There was another hint as well,close to all three ruins,there was a Ruin Maniac trainer that was saying that he was looking for an ancient secret ruin or something like that

Personally I love what they did with the Regi's in hoenn I think it had been way to easy in the past to find the locations of otherwise legendaries (box cover ones not included) they're meant to be legendary so making it hard to find them makes sense. Sure that puzzle was hard when I played ruby for the first time but it was way more satisfying to catch the golems after solving their puzzles. I wish they would do this more often in games since it could make the post game in Pokemon games a lot more interesting to have puzzles to solve when you go legendary Pokemon hunting.

Mythical Pokémon are legendary! They're just a subcategory, like the Ultra Beasts from Ultra Sun/Moon. Though the Ultra Beasts shouldn't be considered legendary.
That’s the sad part about Pokémon games, if you started playing them many years after the game was created, you not only will never finish your Pokédex(some Pokémon require trade to evolve and you can’t find them in the wild) you will also never see a glimpse of some legendary/mythical Pokémon

How come there is no mention of Pokemon Colosseum or XD? It had the legendary beasts in the first game, and the legendary birds and Lugia in the second game. If I remember right, there was also a Japanese-exclusive Celebi and Jirachi, but I’m unsure which games they came from.
Yeah, I never got the Regis. No way was 8-year old Leah clever enough to figure those puzzles out. I don't even think I ever caught a Relicanth in any of my many Sapphire play-throughs. Also, I never knew about the Legendary Beasts in the Kanto remakes; that's pretty interesting. And yes, that Celebi event in HG/SS is one of the best things Pokemon has ever put into a game.
I literally just started playing Platinum for the first time this week, so learning that the Birds, and even Regis where possible acquisitions there was very interesting...
I only like mewtwo because I caught a mewtwo in pokemon red randomizer in mt. moon, there were gen 6 mechanics, so it was cool using a mewtwo to sweep everything.
My guess is that Arceus' encounter method looks too much like going into Heaven to fight God, and Game Freak want to stay away anything religion related. But that doesn't explain going into "hell" to fight Girantina, or how Team Galactic's goal is to literally conquer God
Mythical’s are different but not by much. The only ways they really are is the way you get it, and that they never have anything higher than a 600 base stat total
10:02 Uhh... are you not gonna mention the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus disc? Where you could acquire infinite amounts of Jirachi for free, assuming you had a link cable and a copy of Ruby and Sapphire?
Zapdos is the easiest to miss out of the 3 cuz to get to the Power Plant where it resides you've to Surf on a body of water outside the Rock Tunnel. & what r the chances that you'll be going there? Moltres is right in the Victory Road. If u take south of Fuchisa to reach Cinnabar, you'd have to go inside Seafoam & could possibly come across Articuno.
Also if you brought the even Arceus with you in heart gold and soul silver you could choose another egg so u could get 2 of the 3

I got regigigas a different way. Back in the day there was an event regigigas from the movie, I used that to wake up/ catch regirock/ice/steel. Then I used those to catch the sleeping regigigas. The funny part is that I randomly did that and didn’t know it was a legit method

For the regi trio, I was lucky in that my nanny just so happened to own a braille translation booklet. I don't know why. So I actually sat down and translated everything.
Articuno was my favorite of thr gen 1 birds....but frustrating to catch.
Though despite it being Guardian of the seas....I wonder why Lugia wasn't part Water type. But....I was a sucker for Suicune and Raikou as well...many a scream caused by those two though. Still, I developed a love for Entei due to it bring given Sacred Fire. Though I am miffed they removed Ho-Oh's move as signature....I spent time as a Firekeeper for a Native American event caring for, well, a Sacred Fire.
Latias is my favorite of thr Hoenn duo. I loved how affectionate it was in Pokemon Heroes. In ORAS, I got an event for the shiny Rayquaza...and man is it a beauty. Regice, is my favorite of thr Regis....I tend to nickname it after a Batman Villain....Mr. Freeze. Deoxys is awesome...though I tend to use Attack Form.
At first, I was obsessed with Palkia...but I got Dialga and loved it even more than Palkia. I prefer Azelf....it tended to be the first of the lake trio I caught. Giratina... now that was amazing in Platinum. Cresselia....a strong support pokemon that I have yet to perfectly master. Darkrai...however...now THAT was one I could figure out. A friend got it for me, and I had FUN decimating teams with Dark Void, Dream Eater, and it's nightmare ability. Add that with Dark Pulse and Ice Beam....and it was a powerful staller.
Phione and Manaphy were ones I didn't pay attention to until ORAS. Same with Shaymin...and Arceus.
I think Lugia wasn't part water so it didn't have a direct advantage over Ho-oh, even though they did that tje next gen with Groudon and Kyogre
I actually like the puzzle-gated legendaries. Those are more fun to get than... just receiving the mon from a random guy on a store. I wish those events with catchable legendaries were still a thing.
Oh I agree that just getting them from a mailman is not great, but there's a fine line between just going through a cave vs an ancient test of ridiculous puzzles. :P
@@emperorcubone Well, yeah, the Regis are overcomplicated. Still, at least you have an accessible way to understand the puzzle. Deoxys required you to reach the triangle with the lowest number of steps and there was no clue about that at all.

Well, Gen 8 isn't over, but there's also a lot more with each successive generation, so it takes a while to make sure they're all tracked down...
Apparently there are instructions for the Regis in the game's manual, or at least the braille alphabet
Jirachi was actually very easy to obtain if you had Pokémon Channel for the GC
