Cool Andy and YOU are welcome for the support...so thank you. What I love about your new technique is that you manages to get all the different stages of rust demonstrated and far better than pigments alone! Nicely done Ol' Chap!
Looks great. Would have never thought of using panel liner as a fixer.
Great results. You're the man Andy!
These videos are so thorough, and the way you demo the model kits. For me that is what makes you stand out vs some of the other you tubers. Well done!
Just discovered your channel and must say you do an excellent job at showing off products. I am into Warhammer 40k and Fantasy myself and will be using a lot of the newer products you have shown on your channel. Thank you for taking the time and showing people how to use them and what is new. I haven't done stuff like this in 15 years or so now and am completely impressed by how much the industry has grown and all the new toys we have at our disposal now. I for one am looking forward to many more videos in the future as well.
As a plastic-mangling beginner, the tips and techniques I've picked up from your vids have been immensely helpful and inspiring. Really appreciate all the hard work Andy!
Fantastic tips and another great use for Tamiya panel liner. The effects look brilliant and i shall definatley give this a try. Thanks for sharing Andy, Mark UK.
I bought the panel liner from you today, this video was the reason! Awesome shop! Can’t wait to come back.
Your one of the best. Learned a great deal from your videos. Thanks.
Well Andy... You did it... Because of you I started making models. Greetings from Amsterdam!
Andy, I must say, after watching you various build and weathering videos, you have given me the courage to step up my weathering techniques. I bought a few of the items you use...I'm a Vallejo fan, and started to add that enhancement to my kits. I'm a faster builder like yourself, as I use 1:48 scale kits for wargaming. I like to match the level of detailing from my 25/28mm figures to my vehicles. Oh BTW...I finally took the leep of using the "hairspray" technique...awesome effect. Thanks again.
I'm just starting to pick up model building 30 years after I stopped as a tweenager. Your channel has been a lot of help for me. When I was a kid, I always marveled at the realism one of my friend's grampa's would put into his train layout, as well as in airplane and military models. I didn't have the money or resources at the time, so my models were pretty rough when finished. I'm planning on focusing on the Korea/Vietnam era- rust was everywhere on military vehicles. My dad was a heavy equipment operator during the Vietnam war- the climate really was harsh on machines and people not aclimated to a jungle environment. Keep up the great work!
Another great video Andy. Thank you for all the hobby tips you give us. As someone who's getting back into the hobby after being away for 30 years plus it really helps a lot. Be safe friend. 👍😃
Andy, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your videos. I am a 42 year old who just got back into modeling after a 25 year break. I made models as a kid and just got back into it. I ESPECIALLY love your videos focusing on weathering and details and am now taking my interest to levels previous unknown with pigments, washes, etc. THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING US NOVICES WITH YOU TIMELESS ADVICE AND SKILLS; I HAVE LEARNED A LOT!
thank you , Andy, for your youtube channel, your google page, your tutorials and all all all efforts for scale modelism.
Greetings from Russia!
Scale modelism? What is it with you Russians making a ideology out of everything? You have Leninism, Stalinism, Trotskyism and now modelism? lol.
Greetings from Norther Ireland, Caught the bug again after nearly 30yrs, after watching your videos. Keep em coming👍
Nice work Andy! I watch your videos regularly and I have used some of your techniques on my models.
Another great video. You are an excellent presenter. I wish I lived near your shop.
Thanks for all the great video's Andy. Greetings from the Netherlands!
How could you not like this channel
Fantastic tutorial on rust techniques...just what I was looking for! 👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent tutorial. I have been going to town with panel liner on my 1/72 and 1/76 models since you first brought it to my attention and I am extremely pleased with the results. I will be trying these techniques too. Cheers.
Thank you , David
Outstanding tip Andy thanks for sharing. I will definitely have to try this on my half track project.
Enjoyed this one Andy and I enjoy watching your channel :)
Its because your really good at it. Hope to get to your shop one day.Hi from the UK. Keep rocking!!!!
the combination of the two products works great. this is something that is very important though with these kinds of hobbies. Learning techniques and mixing them together, gives the best results. if you have multiple techniques that are designed to get the best results in less time, it confuses the eye and you can think you're looking at something that took hundreds of hours, that maybe took like 4 or 5.
Just using 1 technique, it's easy to spot the technique, which breaks the illusion. But mixing together many techniques, they all work to compliment each other and it becomes way more difficult to actually spot the techniques used.
I have probably explained this poorly, but it's something that everyone should learn to do early.
It's like scale model techniques making their way into miniature painting, and vice versa. It makes both hobbies better.
thanks Andy , another great demonstration 👍
Very good Andy. I do learn a lot with your video. Thx
Hi Andy, This is the first of your videos I have watched - Very informative, and the process was defined clearly. You have a new subscriber and I am looking forward to reviewing your catalog of videos as well as all of your future videos. Thanks, L

I love Tamiya stuff, great to see the Brand is big in the USA! I'm from The Netherlands and the brand is just fading away unfortunately. I'm more into RC btw but love to build once in a while a 1:12 motorcycle and can use the tips/products you have shown in your videos. Thanks.
I think I've watched every video you've made. No wonder you got a mention on Squadron. Great work

Awesome tutorial. I want to make a diorama now with an old tank being pulled from a river for restoration. Just bathed in various rust and mud.

Hi Andy like the rusting demo got a lot from watching , as always thanks
Great video Learned some new tricks
thats a very good/nice hw to vid. I like it very much. You should do more of them
Thank you! This will help me immensely with my Sherman's exhaust.
Good job Andy !!!
oh nice, I've not used those. I have the Tamiya clear orange though, which I like to use for lubricant, or oil leakage and also can be good for leaking water on rust effects, too.
Great tip Andy i'm gonna use it
Hi Andy thanks for your videos just got back in to modelling after a number of years not building my next is the mirror models diamond t 969a wrecker thanks all the best jerry
Great tutorials.. Thank you :)
Nice job Andy
Awesome Tute!
top andy like your channel relax and nice super
Good job!
you are teaching me thanks
How do you do detailed weathering such as highlighting panel lines on back or very dark colours?
Great video
this video is useful but I think I will stick to chipping the vehicles too much rust but again the video is nice good work Andy
Andy how can I seal the rust effect on a rc tank that I need to handle
Hey, is it possible that you could make a video on how you paint your wood, on your tools? I'm doing a build my self and got som wood I need to paint. But I am just not sure what is that best way to make it look like wood.
WOW! looks fantastic.. I'm getting ready to start the hobby boss M1070 next week, any pointers you may have for me on this kit?
Thank you
Nice video.
Hi Andy thanks for the video!
I'd like to ask, how do you clean the brush with the pigments? Just soak in water? or do you use a certain mix of thinner solution?
Another great video, Andy. Do you seal the pigment with a flat clear coat afterward? Also, I asked this question in a different video, but since you probably haven't seen the question I'll ask again in here what mixture ratio you use for your Tamiya paints and what mixture do you use on the dusting Buff coat you do to blend the camo on the tanks? Thanks again...
Nice!
Regular oil paint also works if you can’t get/don’t want the panel liner.
I plan on doing this to an abandoned, looted ,stripped miniart T-55 with an interior. . Not sure if I will use the kits tacks or Friul tracks yet. Best of all,if I get a lot of tweezer launch well, that part was stolen/looted long ago.
Should I use some sort of primer for rubber tracks?
Thanks a lot for the vidéos. Do you apply varnish just before panel liner ?
Thats cool and all but its definitely old news. I'm surprised so many people commenting didn't know this either. Wash is wash regardless of it saying weather effect or panel liner, its the same thing. Good for you though, kept your followers happy I guess.
Top tip - Decal fix can be used as a pigment fixer
Hi Andy,
I recently got into modeling and I only have basic things for painting and I was wondering if there were any good airbrushes for a reasonable price,
Thanks Love your videos.
Andy, could you do a simple video showing how you measure out the percentages please? I've tried a few ways and always get it wrong. the paint pouring gets too messy to track the percentage for me.
Hi, enjoyed the video. Just starting to think about using these pigments. Once you have the color you want, do you apply a matte clear coat to protect your finish? Thanks, Mac
Thanks for the video.I do not buy pigments,I use chalk/oil pastels. What colors would you recommend for rust effects?
a little question for military boats models do you paint during the construction? after? or depends? (or you don't have any idea?)
Good for exhaust manifolds.
Can somebody tell me how much the tamiya M1a2 tusk 2 Abrams is?
This Tamiya panel liner is flammable so how does it react with Tamiya acrylic paint?
What was the main base coat before the brown panel liner.
Outstanding video Andy, I assume you can use these techniques on cars also, I have been wanting to do a rusted street Rod, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Rick
yes it will work fine on cars
Hey Andy do u have a web site where I can purchase the items u used in the video, can't find much Vallejo here in the area where I live, only on eBay. Thanks Rick
Great video, but pls can you do a video on applying decals, thnx
Great channel Andy, do you ever visit the UK?
Nice work. they do look impressive, but I have a question: What difference does it make to use those tamiya panel liners instead of some clear paint to old the pigments on place? Thanks in advance
the panel liners dries very flat and holds up very well .
Very well. maybe it is best then in smaller scales then, as to avoid undesirable bumps and so, no?
How durable is this technique? Dose spray sealing it with a matt or satin coat ruin it?
I manly model for table top gaming related topics, so durability is a factor I like to take into account.
