Fantastic run through your thought process and experimentation while figuring out how to do proper mud wet and dry. Really appreciate, super informative
Thanks for the nice comment. I didn't even realise it had been 6 months since my last video, but thats the problem with me and my channel - it just isn't fast enough. One day I hope to find the formula that works where I can output faster.
Fantastic job, thanks for the detailed and inspirational tutorial. I’ve never been able to make the pigments work and usually end up boxing the kit out of frustration.
Nice job on this one. I made the same some time ago but with a bit more mud. This is quite a big model and we have to do a lot of work to fill all the places with nice weathering. :)
I´m going to build my first tank model, a Panzer III from MiniArt and had no clue how to paint the lower hull. During research I accidentially stumbled over this video which is definitely one of the best I´ve ever seen relating to modeling tutorials. It is very helpful because it addresses every question I have. Great work!
Thank you for this comment, this right here is why I've spent so many hours over the years doing these videos. I don't upload much, but I hope that every time I do someone goes away with the same thoughts as you and tries something, and that in some way I've helped
I always look for pictures of kit doing, sometimes you find even the one you are doing ...references are by far great helpers to paint and weather etc imo
I really enjoyed watching this video and picked up a couple of tips. This is a kit I'd never taken that much of an interest in .......until now and have gone and ordered one.
Nice job that man, someone after my own heart...old school methods still work.....I too like this part and time taken does work...used to hurry as wanted to see effects as I was impatient..lol...soon learned to slow equals better,as you spot errors sooner...I now use the speckle build up more now as thats how real life tanks etc got dirty as do cars ..look at wheel wells and thats the effect I go for...top man top job fella sub`d...will pop back and watch more of your vids for certain ty
Yeah I didn't realise it had been 6 months!! BUT! My record is over 2 years I think, so 6 months is rookie numbers lol. I will do my best not to go AWOL though
Yes I'm alive and well lol I've been doing some video work away from the channel for a manufacturer, so I've been focused on that when I'm at the bench. As always I will return to my own stuff ASAP
Amazing weathering tutorial using pigments! Going to use this on my next tank for sure. Is there a substitute for the scenic fixer that you can suggest. Looks a bit like pea glue in the video, but I’m guessing it isn’t? Liked and subbed 👍
Hi, thank you for taking time to comment. The scenic glue is likely some derivative of pva, it dries matt so realistically either an acrylic matt varnish or a combo of matt varnish and pva would probably do the job just fine. Normal pva would probably get you by but you do run a low risk of getting some gloss finish where it builds up. I've used mig ammo matt acrylic varnish in the past with similar results, it won't take you long at all to find something that works for you and get the hang of it! Happy modelling
Yes, it won't catch the light like a gloss but it's definitely achievable. I saw a great work in progress pic by David Parker where he had done this using oils if I remember right and it's one of the finest examples of weathering I've ever seen.
I’m just getting into weathering/mud effects etc and have painted a tank with Tamiya acrylic paints. I’ve now bought some humbrol dark earth weathering powder. My question is what do I mix this with to ensure it doesn’t rub off and once I’ve mixed it with whatever do I then still have to use a spray varnish to seal it?
Hi, yes You can use pva, which I'm sure is an ingredient in the scenic cement I used, but you'll need to add in some acrylic matt varnish as pva dries glossy or satin most times
@@Sonic32084 you could try using matt varnish, an airbrush one like Mig ammo. I have used ordinary pva diluted and with matt varnish added in the past, works similar
Never understood pre shading as it becomes totally covered by the other coats. If you use 90 % thinner and let it show through sure, but otherwise i see no point to it. Good weathering tho mate!
I'm still alive lol. I kind of lost the will with my own channel, I've never been a prominent uploaded and as such faded intro irrelevance alongside more modern channels. If you still wanna see my hands working though look at the how to videos on airfix official UA-cam channel
I will look into adding captions. I've enabled them but the studio screen says ineligible so I may need to look deeper into it but I'll try!
Really helpful, I’m looking into weathering my 1/72 vehicles and this is the most helpful video I’ve found. Thanks!

Outstanding job with limited resources. 👌🏻 Saving this video for future reference.
Phenomenal result. Thank you for the tips!
I always enjoy and learn from your videos. I appreciate life can get in the way but please keep the video's coming, more often, if possible.

I really like the muddy tracks! Thx for the video!
That was very informative. Well done.
Amazing Video. It gave me a lot of tipps to make my life easier with my own models. Thank you

Excellent tutorial. Good to see you back

Outstanding stuff, definitely going to go back and re-weather my current build after seeing this! Thanks.
Outstanding build and great info.

@@ScaleModelMedic any new info on the other work? been looking around to see if i see your work elsewhere XD
Masterclass.
Great tutorial!! Would you mind sharing where you got your glue and paint cup holders?
Hi, they're my own 3d printed items hence the SMM logo. Haven't spilled a drop since
One day, he will return.
I done broncos one it's the shorter one I'm looking for next!
Arse end of the kit market......my new favourite modellers saying
Great tutorial, thanks 👍
thanks Mike glad you enjoyed it

@@ScaleModelMedic awesome. Thanks for the quick reply.
Hello. You are doing a great job. It's just a shame that there are no subtitles in this video because not everyone understands English. Sincerely.
Excellent 👌
thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it
Could you achieve a wet look by using a darker pigment in concentrated areas?
Yes, it won't catch the light like a gloss but it's definitely achievable. I saw a great work in progress pic by David Parker where he had done this using oils if I remember right and it's one of the finest examples of weathering I've ever seen.

Awesome results! How long did it take you to complete the track weathering? Can PVA glue be used instead of scenic cement for binding the pigments?
Hi, yes You can use pva, which I'm sure is an ingredient in the scenic cement I used, but you'll need to add in some acrylic matt varnish as pva dries glossy or satin most times

Thumbs down for not having subtitles enabled. How do you expect deaf or hard hearing people to understand?
